    Their poutine
    Laiha C.

We will eat here when we're snowboarding because their food is probably the best in the main lodge (the pizza place and burrito place are NEVER open when we're there) but that doesn't mean it's amazing. Unfortunately. Have eaten here twice and had issues both times, although the second time was better. The first time it was just me, and my food came out cold. Not lukewarm, cold. The fish and chips is what I decided upon, and I did like the flavor of the fish, but it was already 21 degrees outside... I wanted hot food! I like their signature strangely curly fries (but they have them at the cafeteria style place upstairs too) and the view is stunning. But come on, cold food? When I told the waitress she seemed more icy than the fish. Her response was "oh, okay" and she walked away. Okay awesome -_- The second time we both got types of burgers (mine was a mushroom though) and poutine fries, which were pretty good. But my Caesar salad had a hair in it... gross! The burgers were pretty good though. I'm sure we'll be back next season, and hopefully they will start caring more. Oh, they're also a bit overpriced.

This is one of the only few places we could find that was central to eat at Stevens Pass. We had our 17 year old sister with us snowboarding, so that limits the seating to a few tables in the non-adult section. Kinda hard to find tables when there are families there snowboarding. Food was actually decent. It's not great, but it's good enough to fill you up after several exhausting runs down the slopes.

BEWARE: the servers are thieves and write in their own tips. In my case the servers name was Ashlyn. I used my card to pay for the bill and decided to leave the tip in cash. My bill came out to $23.49. When I checked my bank account, I was charged 28.49. That means she changed the 3 to an 8 to add an extra 5$ for her mediocre service. That is beyond unacceptable. I hope management sees this and fires her for STEALING from customers.

Almost every time we ride at Stevens Pass, we end up here for lunch. I prefer Bull's Tooth over the Foggy Goggle. Number one reason? Seasoned curly fries. They are exactly what you expect them to be and they are yummy. Prices are fairly reasonable especially considering that you're sitting on a mountain. The burgers all hover around $11 and they come with a good portion of fries. Beers from the tap is another $4.75. On a 2 beer meal, plan on spending $25 with tax and tip. The biggest problem with this place is that it's always packed on weekends. There's really no advanced way to get a table besides sending somebody ahead.

Baked potato the size of my spoon...

Okay, so it is a ski resort... so I expect the dining to be expensive. However, charging me $6.50 for a baked potato the size of my SPOON is absolutely RIDICULOUS. If you're going to serve a TINY baked potato, put it in the appetizer section, not in the entree section of the menu! I was STARVING after snowboarding and I was expecting an average sized baked potato, which would normally fill me up, this potato was so TINY, even for a girl that is only 5'2" tall. I posted a picture for you to judge the potato for yourself. I came in on a Monday, so the resturant was pretty empty. Service was okay. Nachos came in a decent size, however I ordered a side of guacomole for the nachos and they clearly did not give me enough guacomole for the nachos. It came in the small containers that ketchup usually comes in. Check it out in the baked potato picture. Not worth my $2. I rather be charged more for the guacomole and actually have enough for my nachos. A friend got the chicken pot pie, that was extremely dissapointing too. It was like a cream of chicken in a small cassorole dish with a bisquick biscuit on top, served with soggy ceasar salad. Never eating here again. If i ever came back it would only be for beer or drinks.

From mid April to Opening day at Steven's Pass Ski area, I anticipate... not only to strap on the board.... but to chow down on the teriyaki chicken burger at Bull's Tooth Pub when lunch time rolls around! The curly fries are nummy too! Ask for a side of the teriyaki sauce for the fries, you won't be sorry! T-minus 90 days... =D

The newest of the lodge bars at Stevens They serve lots of micro brews and upscale pub food Huge open ceiling and tree size wood beams, a large rock fireplace and this can get real comfortable Can get way too busy during peak hours as everyone wants to be here Check out old school Cloud Nine instead

Pretzel bun and curly fry take over
    Jeremy H.

Smallest plate of nachos I have ever seen. I would have taken a picture, but they were literally gone in two bites. I used to love these things...a massive plate piled high with chips, cheese, jalapeños, and chili. Bad management decision to cut costs by serving your nachos on a salad plate. The burger was decent, but the pretzel bun was inappropriately taking over the burger. We didn't order a bun, we ordered a burger. My friend convinced me to up my 1.5 star rating up to 2 stars based on location and service. I can't argue with location, although the stairs are tough after a hard day skiing. The service was good. So, yes I rounded up.

    Not so shabby atmosphere

Set in a cute picturesque town over a charming little bridge Whistle Stop Tavern sits in a row of businesses. They are known for their fried chicken & jojos so of course we had to order some of that! We had 7 ladies who had been grazing all day up at the hot springs on charcuterie & various other snacks we packed with us but after an hour long downhill hike in the cold November PNW weather we were ready for some hot food. We also ordered each of their wing flavors. BBQ, Buffalo & Lemon Pepper, plus a large house salad. The fried chicken was very tasty. We could see from the bar that they use a pressure fryer, so it keeps the meat juicy & the exterior crisp. You get a half of chicken cut up in pieces in one order, 1 drum, 1thigh, 1 breast & a wing. It was perfect for sharing. Super casual as it is a tavern with lots of bar & table seating. They also have a pool table(FREE pool Monday nights) & of course big screens for sports watching or MTV videos were actually playing when we were there. Charming spot with a nice bartender & even nicer regulars. A table of locals asked us where we were going to have dessert at & told us about the Pie Dive Bar...they said we MUST give it a try, so WE DID! During our last trip in the area, we decided to go on in for a drink. Dive bar fans, this spot is absolute GOLD. If you're in the area for a hike? Stop in for a post hike beer. In the area just passing through? Literally pull over for a drink or two and a respite from the car. Whatever you're doing in Index, there is no reason not to stop at the Sand Bar. The Sand Bar is nautical themed and so much fun. Themed to the NINES. As an event planner, their dedication does not go unnoticed. There's also so many fun fish tanks around! Kinda makes you feel like a kid again to just watch them swim around while you're relaxing. Would I suggest saving an appetite for this spot? Honestly, no. They have a DIY chili dog bar and rotating specials but all of the food is ready to go in crockpots. That said, if it was midnight and I had a few cold ones, I might just be inclined to make myself a DIY chili dog. I'm just being honest here. I did see in the parking lot that the local pizza spot will deliver here, so that might be a more sanitary option, but what's the fun (and gamble) in that? There's a fun outdoor area with eclectic seating and beautiful mountain views if you're there during the day. No liquor here, but they've got solid beer, wine, cider/seltzer options. The co-owner was working when we came in and he's a super nice guy. We complimented the bar and he insisted we give his wife all the credit as it was her idea and she was "nice enough to let him work there." We informed him we'd be back in the area for our June wedding and were planning on stopping in after we got married and he gave us a business card with their personal cell number to TEXT and let them know how many people from our wedding were gonna come in so they could prep karaoke and stay open a little later. I mean, how sweet is that!?!? Highly suggest supporting this small business whenever passing through Index - we can't wait to come back after our wedding. We're seriously rolling with our wedding party + then some.

We had been noticing this bakery for a while since we'd driven past it many times on our way to hikes, and we finally got to try it today. I had a breakfast muffin. It was great, very simple yet tasty. At first I thought one muffin might not be enough, but glad that was wrong, I was about 80% full after eating it. My partner got the avocado omelette, it came with toast and hash browns. We were surprised by how fluffy and soft the toast was, definitely the best toast we've had at any breakfast spot. He said the omelette was tasty too. We also grabbed some coffee and pastries before we left. I had a spicy German sausage and a chocolate bar, my partner got an apple fritter and an apple pull apart. I had the chocolate bar later after our hike. It was sweet and fluffy, not too heavy since I had it with coffee. Then I had the German sausage for dinner. The sausage was actually spicy, not just a mild black pepper kind of American European spicy, but a real deal spicy. I loved it! Staffs in the bakery were very friendly and attentive too. I'm glad I got to support such a lovely local business. This place is a solid one.
