Tucked into a small street, the cafe itself felt warm and inviting however I am not too sure about my interaction with the barista. Felt a bit aloof and then I felt very rushed to order. I think the experience would have been better if I was a regular customer? Not sure why I am expected to know that the menu is on the wall and not next to the cash near the middle of the counter. Anyway, I got the Bulldog, one of their signature items and it was pretty good. They do have quite an extensive menu and lots of baked items that looked all delicious. Wednesday morning of our vacation I woke up before everyone else and I was Jonesing for a good coffee so I walked over to Bulldog and when I walked in was immediately greeted with by a very friendly barista. I asked about the macadamia coffee and the barista explained macadamia is actually the type of milk not the type of coffee. Happily I ordered a macadamia macchiato, it was delicious! Seriously this is a psa for everyone do not sleep on macadamia milk it is so so good! I also got a ham and cheese croissant sandwich also delicious! This coffee shop appears to be a one-man show. Apparently the barista has won an award. I can't really tell the difference between good and bad coffee, so I'm not going to comment on that. When I look for a new coffee shop is a nice place to sit and talk to my friends. Came here twice in two days for coffee - and I am totally a fan! I feel that this is the better place for coffee within Assembly Chef's Hall. The coffee flavour is strong and rich, and the lattes are made beautifully. I got the medium flat white with macadamia nut the first time. I asked the barista which alternative milk she recommended, and without hesitation, she responded the macadamia nut. The end result was a flat white that had a slightly but distinct nutty flavour. It was also very full-bodied and creamy - it resembles oat milk more in texture and body, but has the nutty undertones of almond milk. The second time I opted for a cappuccino with almond milk. It was smooth and rich, and utterly amazing. This will definitely be my go-to coffee place when I'm in the area! read more

Stopped here while I was in town visiting a few weeks ago. Primarily stopped to try the famous Rainbow latte. A little pricey but worth it! The coffee was really smooth, and if you order the rainbow the barista (who happens to be the top ranked barista in Toronto it said) gives you a show of adding in the colors to your drink. He was very kind and it shows that he loves what he does. A little hard to find at first. There's a sign on the sidewalk directing you, but I missed it the first time. It's inside the Assembly Chef's Hall. Great coffee. Not an expert so I can't really comment on the details of the roast or texture or technique (see other reviews), but it tasted pretty damn good. My friend who IS a coffee snob agreed. But wow, the barista (the owner I think) is such an awesome guy! Super nice and friendly, with a highly infectious energy that truly shows how passionate he is about the drinks he makes. The store is right next to the entrance of the Assembly Chef's Hall, and when we walked out after a couple of hours he thanked us with such fierce enthusiasm that I was tempted to stop and get another cup right then and there lol. I would actually come back just to see the smile on his face again (errrrr, I meant that in the most non-weird way possible). A unique drink you won't find anywhere, martini glass is filled with marshmallows and drizzled with chocolate sauce and a shot of espresso. Not overly sweet (provided you don't finish the marshmallows) and pretty with the torched marshmallows. Stuart the owner, is such a sweet guy and always smiling. Independent local shops need all the support they can get during this time, I'd request people to get their coffees from these coffee shops instead of big chains. This one is owned by an award winning Toronto barista. My go to at this place is their marshmallow latte, it comes with two shot of espresso and torched marshmallow, the sweetness of marshmallow blends with bitter espresso and creates a very balanced coffee drink, never had anything like it before. My wife gets a bulldog latte which is also really good. Their banana bread is one of the best I've had from a coffee shop. They also have a rainbow latte, great drink for pride month. read more

I opted for one of their signature drinks, the Rainbow Latte, that's as sweet as it is pretty, no need for added sugar in this one. They add food coloring to the steamed milk and then pour into the glass in a cute leafy pattern, making an instagram worthy treat for sure. They don't have dedicated seating of their own, but there are plenty of communal picnic tables and benches, filled with cuties on their breaks from their jobs in the financial district. read more

It came out to $6.05 (around that) and tasted pretty good. What I didn't like was the attitude of the cashier who was very rude when I tried to give her cash. It was my first time there and I am more than happy to use a credit card but figured since it was $1.05 (after the credit) cash would just take care of it. Instead I had to listen to a long rant or lecture on how she is "cash-free"--I hope the next time she goes in a rant she takes a look at our laws that in Canada you must accept every form of physical Canadian currency. Bulldog coffee is inside the assembly chefs hall. I got their infamous rainbow latte just to try. They had their st. Patrick's day special green latte so I tried that. The latte is sweetened. I don't love my latte sweetened so If you don't like yours sweet, should tell them ahead of time. The coffee was pretty smooth. Not bad. But a medium cup costs 6 dollars is pretty steep. One of the best coffee in Toronto! It's a cute little stall located in Assembly Chef's Hall so you can enjoy your coffee with some great food or snacks. Been here a couple of times and gotta say my favourite is the rainbow latte! It is very pretty as the colours add a really nice touch to the coffee. Most of the time, there is a tradeoff between aesthetic and taste / quality but this does not apply to Bulldog Coffee's rainbow latte as it is both beautiful and tasted amazing!
