Schnitzel with caramelized cabbage and homemade mustard sauce
    Shannon S.

This place is a local gem. It is worth the trip for the muffins alone. Not pictured was the butterscotch krimpet muffin this morning. It was gone so fast, there was no pic. Who ever thought of bacon fried rice? It made so much sense after I thought of pork fried rice. The sauce on the eggs and rice was spot on. The schnitzel was fried perfectly and the caramelized cabbage and homemade mustard sauce just put it over the top. Every week is a new muffin and new specials. The service is great. This is our favorite breakfast place in the area.

Tried this after my brothers recommendation. My boyfriend and I love getting Sunday breakfast and we needed a new place to add to the rotation. We went on New Year's Day and got there before it was super busy, but the only seating available was counter seating. This restaurant is very small and there are not a lot of seating options. Something I noticed not just about this diner but diners as a whole the staff is not very attentive. In this case they really could have used someone refilling coffee but I literally had to flag someone down to get my "unlimited coffee refill". Which is also kind of crazy considering I was sitting in front of the coffee pot. If you're looking for a clean or aesthetically pleasing establishment this is not it, it's definitely a little worse for wear but aren't most good diners? I went with the all American but they also have an all American jr. My boyfriend got the cheesesteak omelette. Both were supposed to come with fruit or tomato slices (weird) but we never received them- fine. It was a lot of food that we both got. I really enjoyed the French toast and the potatoes of my entire plate. We'll be back, it'll be interesting to see what it's like on a regular day! I'd like to try something else.

3.5 Difficult place to find if you're not sure what you're looking for but definitely worth finding. I had the Warminster breakfast sandwich which came with Sriracha bacon over an egg which was delicious. I do feel a breakfast sandwich should come with more egg then mine did. My breakfast partner shared that the avocado toast was also very good. The highlight was the bacon jam so tasty I could have eaten just that; it was a mouthful of salty sweetness with a bit of crunch. Make the trip you'll enjoy it!

First time trying this hidden gem, I live near hatboro I always go past it , I been hearing great things about this place and tried it for the first time today and it for sure exceed my expectations, friendly staff and awesome food, be back for sure, and I also enjoy the retro signs they had hanging up, really cool place.

Food is awesome. The Banana nut pancakes is off the chart. The breakfast potatoes are well seasoned and delicious could have eaten a whole plate of just potatoes!! Service is excellent with a great recommendations. Great ambiance diner setting sat at the counter!

Similar to Bob's Diner in Manayunk, whatever they cook their food in ruins the flavor of the meal. Cooking spray?? a certain blend of Oil?? My eggs and homefries were covered in it. I loved their coffee and enjoyed the rye toast... Just wish they cooked the food in something less off-putting. Maybe It's just me. 1st time here and will try again soon... maybe it was an off day.

Grilled corn muffin. Significant salt taste but otherwise ok.

Typical diner fare in a crowded space, come early (or late) or you will have to wait for seating. I ordered the corned beef hash ($12.95) which was nothing more than cubed corned beef and a side of home fries. The corned beef was rubbery and unpleasant (the texture of pencil erasers) and the dish was wildly over priced for what I got. My husband ordered a bacon and cheese omelette ($9.95) which he enjoyed. I also ordered a grilled corn muffin which tasted significantly of salt but was otherwise ok. The home fries were unevenly cooked. Our waitress was pleasant but I had to flag her down to get a coffee refill and later to get the check. She did not offer to refill my husband's drink. While the restaurant was busy on a Sunday morning there is not a lot of seating so not a lot of tables per server, so I think she could have been more attentive. She never checked on us after dropping off our order at the table. Can't recommend the restaurant but it's probably ok if you go in with low expectations and don't mind the aggressive salt in the dishes, but definitely don't order the corned beef hash. We will not be going back.

Had to go to Philadelphia Eagles country (Go G-MEN) for a wedding and on the way back was looking for a place to stop for Sunday breakfast. Thanks to my Yelp pals we came across Bullards which was not far off of our route home. Stopped in around 10:30 and was able to get seated right away. Cool little old school luncheonette, place was busy and servers buzzing around. Woman came over to chat with us, assume she was the owner who was very nice. Omelettes seem to be their thing which my wife got, i went for the huevos rancheros which I get whenever its on the menu. Omelette was great, the huevos might have been one of the best versions of the dish I have ever had - was fantastic. Great services, really good food and left with a bill for $22, how can you go wrong......

Delicious breakfast food cooked well. The blueberry pancakes in particular were very fluffy and well-done. They were also huge, so make sure to come with an appetite!

We will definitely give it a weekend try, just in case it was an off night. Tip: I was not a fan of sitting in the half booth tables right by the hostess stand. It was extra dark and it felt more like where you sit while waiting for your actual table. Ask to be seated further in the dining room...it is really cool inside! Big parties can even get seated IN a birdcage!

But that truly was our only negative. Our server, Rachael, was excellent and we credited her great service to adding to our awesome dinner at 59 Almshouse. Started with a round of cocktails. I normally get a dirty martini but those short stubby martini glasses ruin it for me...I dislike those glasses. I took the lead from our friend who raved about the Smokey Old Fashion. He was right...one of the best cocktails I have had outside of my regular dirty martini. I look forward to ordering that every time now. It had a bit too much ice so next time I will request less ice for sure. And wow...the smell of the smoke and the drink were outstanding. The menu choices are all so good...difficult to choose bc I wanted about 10 things...I was ready to switch it up from my normal ahi tuna which I get every time. Well, I picked the mahi-mahi fajitas. This has now taken first place and moved up to my new favorite. I loved it! Sooo much food that I hope to share it next time. Leftovers are fine too. They do the fajitas extremely well and I highly recommend. Hubs ordered the Thanksgiving dinner, which is funny since Thanksgiving is in a few days. But that too was outstanding. (I had to taste it) It was a generous portion and he "gobbled" up a good amount and raved how good it was several times as he was eating. Hubs rarely gets that excited about his food which says a lot. Our friends enjoyed and raved about their food as well. Not sure there is a bad thing on the menu. Everything was cooked perfectly and served hot. They do this extremely well. I am not deducting a star for the noise level bc they truly deserve 5 stars. My compliments to the chef and to our server Rachel.

There was thick juicy sliced ham and roast beef, a selection of vegetable and pasta dishes, a spread of salads and a sweet dessert table. The dining room has a nice atmosphere. During our first time up at the buffet, an 86 year-old member of our party made a comment to me about how one of the soup's looked like dog food. It wasn't the best comment, and apparently someone nearby took offense. During our second trip back to the buffet, another diner- a complete stranger- called this member of our party a slang word for a female dog, and then explained why. We felt uncomfortable and intimidated. I expressed my concern to a hostess, who promised to send someone to speak to us to work this out- except they never did. Having to make repeated trips back to our table past this other diner made us uncomfortable. I spoke to a well-intentioned but happily apathetic manager who said that there were two sides to the story. His comparison of the two comments was offensive. I understand that the soup comment was inappropriate, and that restaurants cannot control what their customers say either way. But how could someone not speak up after having their girlfriend/wife/mother/grandmother/loved one called a "female dog?" The restaraunt's dismissive response spoke volumes to their handling of disputes and respect toward women. The staff did nothing to make or feel better, nor did they even bother to check in or talk to her. For a dinner that came to over $200 for the three of us, with gratuity included, we expected to be treated better than that.

From the street it has a really cool look and the inside leans into an industrial style with a great aesthetic. It's a comfortable space with a nice vibe. I love the vibes, I love the appearance. The food is amazing top to bottom. First, their coffee drinks are always spot hitting, partly due to the fact that they roast their own coffee beans on site. The cocktail menu is always enticing an even though I'm not a huge drinker, I'll be working my way around this. The breakfast options are plenty and if you don't get their bacon you are missing out! The lunch sandwiches are served on a house made ciabatta style bread. Packed with fresh meats, cheeses and veggies. Every ingredient is perfectly seasoned and added delicately, not just items slapped on a roll. The Detroit pizza is what initially drew me in. While they have some options with more toppings, I'd say go for some of the more simple Detroit pies to really allow the famous crust to really shine through. My personal favorite so far is the white pie they do with roasted portobello mushrooms. I have only been for breakfast and lunch but with all the craft beer options I need to go back for dinner to sit and relax with some friends and family!
