This year we replaced the roof of our 4 car garage. I wish we would have had the money to have done it at the same time as our home roof for financial reasons, but we couldn't at that time. I worked with Perez Roofing last autumn and wanted to wait a season before I gave a solid review…read more Happy to report all went great with the roof install as we went through an extremely cold winter without any leaks to speak of. Perez is a family business, and I worked with Francisco who was very communicative and up front about all the details of the job. His crew was very hard working and on schedule. The job entailed a complete tear-off our 30-year old roof and reassembly of the broken chimney. The job started with the new materials getting craned in from the street the week prior. The crew waited for a good window in the weather and started demo the following week. The decades of old roofing material were meticulously removed and supposed of, and the quality, salvageable bricks from the chimney were saved and cleaned for reuse. They used a 5-ton dump truck to haul away 4 loads of old roofing material. For those doing the math at home, that's 40,000 lbs. of old roofing material removed from the property. The removal exposed quite a bit of brick damage to the parapet walls, and Perez was right there to fix the brick with a fresh concrete pour. They did everything they could to refresh a 100+ year-old building and make it watertight again and it's all holding up nicely. Once the mortar was dry, and over the next few days, they replaced some of the plywood that was rotted, began to apply the underlayment, then the top granulated, and added new vents. They even pulled all the parapet caps and wrap the ends of the brick properly. The chimney was completely rebuilt from the rooftop up and they added a cap for added weather proofing. All in all, very happy with the service that Perez provided and would use them again if I ever needed roof replacement or repair, or masonry. Highly recommend, great value!

It's now 5 years later and I had another roofer to tell me inadequate sealing at the parapet is likely responsible for more moisture damage on the 2nd floor ceiling (again) Reid came in at $17K, whereas Matthews was $18.5K. The work started promptly. The crew was hardworking and conscientious and greatly exceeded my expectations. When they were done I had a beautiful new roof. Cleanup was done especially well. Once work started, crews were on-site until timely completion. When there was the threat of rain, exposed areas were covered. The price was a little more than others charge, but given that they have been in business for many years, the quality of work performed, the quality of the materials used and the warranty provided, it was worth the small premium. They added a bunch of roofing material to my roof hatch cut out making it much harder to fit the hatch on top of the opening. I had to end up cutting back a bunch of the extra roofing material to make it fit and hired a handyman to help me do that. They also left nails and garbage on the roof and in the backyard. They left a broken plastic tube that expels water from the furnace hanging over the side of the house where it was splashing onto us in the gangway. When I asked Nick on a Sunday to have someone come back and take a look at it he said someone would come look on Monday. I didn't hear from anyone until five days later on Saturday morning when Nick said he would come look at it. I told him I had already fixed it. To be clear, I think the tube got ripped in the storm damage, but they could have told me about it or at least not left it hanging over the side of the house if they weren't going to fix it. Communication was really bad too. They came out right before a downpour on a Monday and had to pause work in the middle of that. They were then going to come back the next day, but then told me later they would come back Friday. Nick told me his guy would come Friday morning possibly before 8am. I was surprised to have JR on my porch and calling me at 6:10am. I've never had a contractor show up that early and told him I couldn't disturb the 2nd floor tenants that early. JR said he would be back at 1pm. He came back at 8:55am instead without explanation and expected to be let in. When Nick and company failed to show up to address the plastic tubing situation, he said he felt bad and wanted to make it up to me. I told him he could send me back $100 for my time and effort addressing issues related to the roof job. I spent 2-3 hours of my time addressing roof issues (tubing and roof hatch), going to Menards, and spent money on a handyman. He has yet to reply and that was three days ago. The price was decent, but I very much feel like I got what I paid for and had to pay extra in both my time and money to remediate the project. I would not hire them again.
