For a long time I supported this place and strongly advocated against shopping at Ace hardware…read more Keep things local at a hardware store that is part of the community. Unfortunately, one smug employee ruined that experience for me, and I'll now be switching my allegiance to Ace. I purchased a small $6 shower accessory. Unfortunately I lost the receipt. The accessory was not what I needed, and I attempted to return it. The employee stated I cannot return without a receipt, even for a store credit (I was going to purchase products worth more than the value of what I was returning). I was disappointed at this response, but I shopped for what I needed anyway. I went to the front, and the employee was helping another customer in an aisle. After helping that customer, she proceeded to another customer in the aisle. Now, I understand one person having to triage, but at that point a simple acknowledgement of me would have been nice. It felt intentional, and it seemed as if the employee was taking satisfaction, acting somewhat smug as she told me she won't accept a return without a receipt. Not sure if this is just one rude employee, or the owner is really this strict about returns on $6 items that are clearly unused, but either way, I seriously doubt I'll be doing business here any more. If you had or have a similar experience, I also encourage you to drop these clowns. (Incidentally, when I purchased the item I would eventually return, I was not asked for my phone number (which they generally use to text receipts, as I'm part of their "customer club" or whatever. So there is actually another mess-up by a different employee that could have accommodated the companies own draconian return policy.) In short, I go to a neighborhood spot like this for the service. And when I'm treated this way, it defeats the purpose of avoiding much more convenient and likely cheaper options like Ace or Amazon. You are not really selling hardware - you should be trying to offer a superior customer experience--remember that and you will not lose customers like this

We had Dennis out for a deck and fence estimate to our home…read more I showed up on time and upon his arrival we noticed that we did business with him before 4 years ago. At the time there were some mixups and delays , but as it turned out lowes did a very nice job.My new fence was of better materials and very straight. So we were pleased to see him. We got the fence quote and he managed to get a price that we thought reasonable.So we wrote him a check for 1/2 and charged the rest. Several days prior to materials being delivered we realized that we needed these funds for something else that was very important. We called Dennis to cancel the install for now and he said ok. However he said there would be a restock fee of $1200 and his manager was insistent on getting it. Some time has passed and no refunds ? We called Dennis and asked him what's going on? He just got back to us today and gave us the great news that his manager had waved the restocking fee. Kudos to Dennis and his manager for having the smart sense to do the right thing. We have just purchased a new property and my loyalty to lowes as the place to go is now sealed. This was a good move on their part because all lumber, tools, supplies, garden/ lawn care products and other products will be from them in the future. P.S. we had already purchased Dish washer. And laundry pair from them.
