After a couple of discussions, the project was finalized and just ended last week. Mike and his team, one for laying the wood down and the other for sanding and staining were great. I'd highly recommend Mike and his team.

We recently moved to new home and found that Akbar has retired but Kamran (senior management) was going to come out and give us an estimate. We needed a backsplash, some minor kitchen remodeling, new carpets, and a potential larger renovation to our living room built-ins. He gave us a verbal estimate of the backsplash and said he'd get back to us very soon on the other estimates. We never heard from him again. We had to call him to get updates and he then told us that their tile installer couldn't be found and they couldn't install - and oh btw the new price was higher than what he quoted us verbally (higher than anyone else who gave us an estimate). No estimate for carpets or the other work ever came. He wasted so much of our time waiting. They honestly don't care anything about their customers like they used to. At least it feels like that.

Had to…read morewait weeks to get an appointment to measure; I cancelled a five-night vacation to accommodate their earliest availability. On the scheduled day, they phoned to cancel because their measuring person had an emergency. I understand emergencies, but no apology. They came, measured the next week. (I'll add here the measuring person told me liquid Kilz could be applied to the concrete floor where my daughter's cat urinated on the old carpet and they could immediately lay new carpet. Kilz recommends waiting 72 hours so how did I misunderstand so badly?) Waited nearly another week to get a written estimate. I went into the shop the next day, October 29 to sign the contract and give a deposit. Was told the carpet couldn't get installed until December, and not an exact date given, but about twelve weeks start to finish. Three months to wait is too long. On October 29 I went to Home Depot. My installers just left. Twelve days start to finish and about $100 less. They came early, did a great job, very respectful to me and my property. Before I committed to working with Home Depot, I went into another small flooring shop in town and was told about two weeks start to finish--three weeks at most. The Floor Shop staff were helpful and they have a great selection, but three months is too long to wait for simple installation of a common product.

I liked that the owner was personally present much of the time. I talked to a few of his crew and it is obvious that they have a good bit of experience working with wood floors. We are very happy with the finished product. These next comments don't relate to Tony's Floors... but you might find them helpful. We were not prepared for the smell. In retrospect, I wish we had booked a hotel room for about four nights. The house was a mess with sawdust everywhere. Orlando did a good job of taping up plastic and wrapping chandeliers and lights, but over time, some of that tape gave away and opened up. Then the smell of the stain and polyurethane is overwhelming. We stayed in our room, put towels under the door and opened with windows... but not pleasant. Then be prepared, you cannot walk on floors for several days. We were able to build a bridge using a ladder and a 2 x 12 board, but we got lucky. So prepare ahead of time, take everything you will need and book a hotel room. Finally, be ready to clean even after Orlando and crew complete their clean. They did a good job, but no way to easily remove the dust in every area. It's the reality. At the end, our floors look great and it was worth it, but it's not a simple, easy project.
