The owner was super nice and helpful. Her assistant is a high school girl and we weren't too impressed with her. I didn't feel like there was enough help for the amount of people we had. There were about 14 of us and we all had different types of projects. Mine had three different levels of paint and got messed up. The assistant tried to help but she ended up painting on it while it was still wet and made it worse. I was the last one to leave at 9:00 (arrived at 5:00) because the owner was trying to help me fix it. It doesn't look great at all. Maybe they should have had one more person there to assist. I felt abandoned after awhile and left to figure it out by myself. Again, the owner was super sweet and tried to help as much as she could. It was my first visit, and exploring Houston's Chinatown at night just adds to the vibe. Bright lights, great energy, and cool little places like this tucked into plazas. We came mainly for the claw machines, and they definitely delivered. These aren't your usual scammy machines where you walk away empty-handed and annoyed. The win rates here are actually decent. We saw a bunch of people pulling out prizes, and we managed to win a few cute plushies ourselves. There's a wide variety of machines too, with everything from small trinkets to giant stuffed animals. This place could be a fun date spot if you're both a little playful or competitive, but honestly it's perfect for kids. The atmosphere is light and casual, and there's plenty to keep them entertained. One thing I didn't totally get was the "tufting" part of the name. After looking online it looks like you can do rug making workshops but I'm not sure where they'd host this as the place was full of claw machines. This is such a cute place for a date night or family outing. We decided to go here because the traditional gift to give for 9 years anniversary is pottery, and what better place to go than Color Me Mine? (: There are a LOT of ceramics to choose from so you can truly get creative and personal with your selection. There are many options including piggy banks, plates, bowls, dishes, mugs, etc. You have to pay $10 painting fee per painter in addition to the price of your selected ceramic. Our grand total was about $74, which seems pricey, but it was worth it because we had a great time, and we were able to make customized gifts for one another. The girls there were really friendly, and one girl in particular who helped us was SO SWEET! I wish I got her name. She was so accommodating and friendly towards our two little boys. We didn't pay to have the boys paint a ceramic piece because they're too young. However, she gave them some paint and coloring sheets so they wouldn't be bored. That was incredibly helpful because it allowed my husband and I to concentrate a bit better. We stayed there for about 1.5 hours and they kept checking back on us and getting us paint. We asked for a lot of paint, and they never seemed annoyed or rushed us. They also gave a lot of good tips and advice! Thank you, ladies, for a fun night! I discovered the place through my friend, Greg Buchold. I had been admiring a Mardi Gras mask and wreath that he had put on his door and he told me about the place. I went looking for Mardi Gras stuff but was blown away by the extensive collection of cookbooks and design books that they sell, all discounted from retail list prices. But there was much much more.
