We had such a fun night here! We signed up for the plate pottery wheel class. The staff was super friendly and the experience was so fun. The classes are really small so you do get a great experience and learn how to do it well. You create the plate and paint it in the same night, so when you pick it up, it's all ready to go in about two weeks. It's so fun to try out a pottery wheel, and they help out to ensure everyone can do it! They also offer premade pottery pieces where you can paint yourself and fire for you. Great therapeutic activity! The staff here are super helpful and attentive. Everything is nicely spaced out. I will come back again for more! I was a little bit confused on what to do so I'll help y'all out: 1) Select the piece you want to paint from the wall. You bring your piece to the counter and pay for the price of this piece (usually found at the bottom) AND an extra $7 on top for the paint. Don't worry, during COVID you're allowed to come back and finish painting at another time without paying an additional fee again. 2) Go to the paint section and write down the paints color you want to use on the sheet of paper. The shown paint is half 1 layer and the other half 3 layers. You can sit down at any table you want and they'll bring the paint to you. (You can always ask for more paint afterwards). 3) When you're finished, give your piece to one of the workers. They'll fire it up for you and be ready in a week or so. read more

I went to Potter's Wheel as an activity to do for my friend's birthday. I love that they have options to take a one time pottery class with an actual wheel. The class was super fun and I absolutely loved the instructor, Lee (I hope I got that right). I would definitely return again. I just wish we had an option of what we could make; however, I do understand keeping it simple for the short time the class is and with the amount of people. This place is amazing for date nights or a fun day with a group friends or family ! They are definitely family friendly and have that local hospitality. We went in for a couple pottery class that we schedule online, got checked in and browsed around the store while we waited for them to get set up. The store has a lot of cool knick-knacks for everyone, young or old. They also have walk in activities such as painting mugs, plate, or other small sculptures; perfect for a spontaneous art adventure. Rachel took care of us once the pottery class got started, I was pretty nervous since I never done this and I'm not really the crafty type. Absolutely love this place!! I came with family and initially we were just browsing but then you get to the back of the store and see people (adult and mini-me's) sitting at tables painting. Come to find out you can have small birthday parties, gatherings or even just family fun time painting a clay object of you choice to paint. Now the object is not free but they have several pieces to choose from ranging from $-$$$$ so really something for everyone. $7 total fee for the glaze and oven cost. I was in here with family and before u know it we had spent two hours all from picking out and painting our pieces. Afterwards, you turn in your finished product so that it can be glazed and put in the oven... In a week you return to pick up your lovely one of a kind clay painted object. Some may think this is a bit boring but I found it to be very calming, therapeutic and peaceful quality time with family or friends. How it works: (1) Pick a ceramic item from the shelves. They have mugs, plates, figurines, bowls, pretty much anything. (2) Pay to paint the items at the counter. My mug cost $10 to buy and another $7 to paint. (3) Head to the color wall and write down 5 of the colors you want to start with. You ask for 5 paints at a time, but can always go back to get more. The staff will bring you a palette with the colors you asked for. (4) Enjoy the painting experience! (5) Leave your creation at the store for a week for them to bake and glaze. You will need to return within 30 days to pick up the finished piece. The staff was very friendly even complimenting our artwork and asking if we needed anything often. There were a lot of little kids being rowdy here on the weekend and it was crowded. They have about 10 tables that you can sit and paint at. We ended up taking one of the last two on a busy Saturday afternoon. Overall, it was a fun and cute late Mother's day activity! They also sell cute but expensive stuff at the store. Lies Lies Lies They will promise you anything and in return do whatever they want. Completely over priced for the instruction time given. Not to mention the owner promising to mail items out of state....for which I sent payment. Only for the items to arrive in Houston! Now I have to pay double postage to get them to their promised destination. To add insult to injury...they misspelled BOTH names on the back of the plates. The names were given upon registration, the day of the class, and in at least 4 emails. It's NOT a mistake when you just didn't care enough to get it right. Staff is unprofessional and too busy gossipping about past customer's creative skills. This is supposed to be a fun event. I thought it would be worth it to have a mom-daughter night here. Big mistake. So obvious they are over crowded and over priced in order to cover rent in that shopping center. A bunch of bitter art class dropouts pissed they're stuck at this job. Newsflash: if you hate your job so much. Quit! Don't make customers pay for your life choices. read more

This place is truly a gem. I am so glad that I casually sent a link after seeing it on google events to a friend who then forwarded it to my fiancé. He was very reluctant to attend and in the car we agreed that if we are bored after an hour, we would leave. However, we were entertained the entire time and he really enjoyed himself. He even sent pictures to the family group chat and is planning our next visit! Everybody was incredibly friendly and Sara was a wonderful instructor. Upon entering this establishment, I saw white pottery statutes, a woman with aqua colored hair (just like myself), and fancy trinkets. I was greeted immediately and asked if I needed help. You asked the wrong person is what I thought but I entertained her with a barrage of questions. She patiently answered me and I was on my way. After choosing the statute I wanted, I paid and went to choose my colors. Upon approaching the color counter, I was told I would receive help choosing my colors. I thought," What would I need help for?" But then I understood why they help after the young lady assisted me. I started painting then another woman came up and helped us make our artwork look better and gave me cool ideas to jazz up my childs item. When we finished we were told to come back in a week and the pottery we painted would be ready after they "put it in the fire"! Whatever that means. I am so glad I brought my two year old here. She raved about how much fun she had and that she thought painting a pretty item was so cool. My only recommendation is that the people helping me probably should have told me their names. PW feels like you can go inside of a family environment and paint on spacious tables, receive lots of help if you want, and buy other cool items that they create by hand. I believe the prices are very good as well. The prices are great for the items but they charge $5.00 to use their paint. I forgot to mention, the items can go in the dishwasher once painted. There is a lot of open space for large parties and classes. I think there was a sign promoting adult and childrens classes. My experience here was wonderful and the people that work here are friendly. It is located in Vintage Park off Louetta Road across from a popular Mexican restaurant. I've loved going to the Potter's Wheel for a really long time. First went there about 15 years ago when they were in Champions. My daughter had a birthday parties there and she and her friends loved shaping the clay into little faces and putting the faces around a large platter. It was such a fun, creative event for the kids. Then, later when my kids would have a bad day or we just needed to get out and do something fun but productive, we'd spend the afternoon painting and visiting together. Overpriced for what you get. Painting area feels crowded and is difficult to navigate. Paid a little over 40$ to paint two coffee mugs. For this price, I expect my cups to come back the way I left them. Instead, we received them with paint marks that we did not put on there. The space is also a little bizarre with a merchandise store selling bits and bobs, which would make me uncomfortable hosting any children's parties there, in case some wayward child ran around and broke something. Staff were friendly enough, and I think the paint selection was well organized and had a good variety. read more

We've been here a couple times. Never had much issues before the move from Champions area, but since, we've been yelled at when we were picking up our pottery. Today they were rude and actually told me, a 32 year old, I could only use 5 colors, but when I'm paying 7 dollars studio fee, I feel my money could go farther at any number of other pottery places. I would like to preface this review by saying that I NEVER write reviews. Typically, if I don't care for a place, I just don't return. I am a SAHM of two young children, while enrolled in school, so I just don't have the time to spend writing reviews. That being said, I took time out of my day to download the Yelp app and create an account solely for the purpose of writing this review, which should be a good indication of how strongly I felt about the following incident. A few girlfriends and I decided to ditch the kids for a couple hours and have a girls night. We chose this establishment upon a recommendation from another friend. I have been to several pottery painting places before, and from my experience, they either serve wine or allow BYOW (bring your on wine) and charge a cork fee. I searched the Potters Wheel website prior to our visit looking for information about their wine policy's, and found nothing. I took it a step further and called the store the morning of, and spoke with an owner/manager about the wine situation. I was told they did not serve wine, but they were fine with us bringing our own. Great! We showed up around 7 that Friday evening and had no trouble finding a table since we were the only group there. While we were picking out our pottery pieces, an employee came up to me and asked if I was the lady that called and asked about bringing wine. I said yes, and she handed me a phone saying her manager wanted to speak with me which, ended up being the same woman I spoke with earlier that day. I then spent the next several minutes being scolded in front of one of my girlfriends about bringing the wine and the amount of wine we brought (we had 3 bottles for 4 girls, and the only reason we had that much was because the majority of the girls preferred red). She explained that we brought too much wine, and that it really wasn't their policy to allow wine in the first place. Why on earth did she tell me it was ok to bring it in the first place if it wasn't their policy? I am a reasonable person, and I would completely understand their cause for concern if we showed up with a keg and a bottle of tequila. We were a group of women in their 30's with kids at home, give me a break! The issue I had with this incident isn't that they would prefer us not to bring wine, no problem! If they had explained that up front when I called to ask, we would have either found somewhere else to go, or decided to skip the wine. The problem was how incredibly rude and unprofessional the owner/manager was to me on the phone, and the way I was made to feel like some sort of criminal for bringing a few bottles of wine to our girls night out after I had taken the necessary steps to ensure it was ok to bring it. We ended up staying and painting our pottery since we had already paid for the pieces, and between the 3 girls that showed up we only drank 1 bottle of wine. In short, I don't ever see myself returning to this establishment. Instead I will walk across the street to Art Class Wine Glass where I'm sure my girlfriends and I will have a much better experience. read more
