This is the 2nd time Ive been to a BAB Workshop. Its too cute to be able to pick the animal you want, get it stuffed, clean it and create a birth certif - then dressing it. My son and I went there last Sunday and the line was long (almost felt like a theme park line) There was only 1 person working the stuffing machine. ugh. We spent so much time in line and next door at the Lego store that it was almost time to go home. I was telling my son, ya know a cheaper way to dress you bear is to go to ToysRus and get some doll outfits. But I admit they do have some cute stuff. Another tip, for those who don't want to wait in line is to just snag one of the animals that's already stuffed and just make your way around to get a birth certif and find an outfit. Youll save a lot of time this way! read more

Very disappointed. We were there with all the babies on the awful "pay your age" fiasco day, and left with vouchers for later discount. Finally made it back for my daughter's birthday on 9/8/18 and tried to use just one of the five vouchers, but I was four days past the expiration date and so I was "out of luck.". By the way, I was told when they gave me the voucher that it wouldn't expire. I didn't think to check the fine print to see if they were lying to me. Huge fail. $60 for a stuffed animal and I can't use even one of my 5 pointless coupons? We won't be back for any other birthdays for sure. read more

Shout out to every staff member! Super cute masks that they all wore correctly, hand sanitizer, cleaned surface, organized & overall friendly staff too! I would personally love to thank Christina ( she has black hair & was super bubbly! Sorry if i misspell your name) ! She helped us w/ our own personal recordings, stuffed our bears, gave us special bday hearts, did the ritual for the hearts, stitched them up, helped us ring up our new best friends, got everyone to sing happy bday to me & she even gave me a birthday cake for my new furry friend! She definitely made my birthday magical & so epic! By far the best experience ever! Even during covid-19. Ahhh, my first time here. It's like I'm a child again. After not being able to watch the How to Slay the Dragon show at the HP Pavilion (since they had technical difficulties), my friend Carol and her son Gunnar. It was definitely a great experience. I would bring even a kid I was babysitting. Hahah! Well, I love the different outfits that the stuffed bears, bunnies, puppies and all the other things that they have. It's a little on the pricey part ($50+), but it's well worth it for a kid's smile. read more

We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of customer service. Jennifer was so helpful when we were looking for something specific to build for our niece. She explained to us how everything worked and our options with ordering online. The lady at the stuffing station was also engaging and interactive with the kids. Although the build-a-bear website isn't very fun to use and needs an update, the in-person store is a lot of fun and the staff is awesome! read more

My girl loved this place and was happy with her bear so that makes me happy. Cute gift for a special occasion but not a monthly visit. WE went during a week day and it was confusing as a first timer. There was a field-trip/group of kids there so the staff was focused on the group not on walk-ins. i had to step in front of a staff person to ask if we could get help and she apologized and said she would be with me within a few minutes. Prices depend on the item you choose but I was expecting to go in there and spend about $40..so with the teddy bear and dress, it only came out to $30 something. So pricey but was expected. They have a computer for your child to fill out the bears 'birth certificate'...and there is an area for dressup and brushing away and extra yarn etc. read more

5 stars to the workers who had to deal with any parent that got mad that their kid didn't get a bear for pay the age of their kid. It's healthy for kids to deal with disappointment. Some adults need to learn that too. I've taken my daughters to this location several times on other normal days, and its something they love and enjoy as a special treat. We bought a stuffed animal from Build A Bear. We have bought lots from this store. But this experience was horrible. The checkout lady was tricking people into thinking we are getting a gift card of $10 for free and not clearly saying that you still need to pay 5$ for it. After we checked our receipts we told her we don't want it. Going to mall is so difficult with all the parking issues. She said let me call my manager. The manager was very obnoxious. She said you can't return the card. You paid for it. You can't use the card same day. So we are stuck. She was very rude. This was the worst customer service experience ever. read more

Been here for several times. I myself love the bear and the bear accessories selections. My kids already have a minion, toothless and chase. Had a great experience when we attended a bday party. Worst experience when my kids and I arrived at the end of the long line at 1015am at the pay your age event and were cut off outright when we came. Only to have a coupon of $15 off. Hoping I would be able to pay only $12 for all my three kids that day. Geee! That event is something else. Overall, still love the place. read more

Came here for my son's first birthday but I wish I took him to a different location. I was excited to take him for his first visit because I remember how much fun it was when I used to go when I was younger! I was really disappointed that he didn't get the full experience - they didn't do the routine with the heart, and the "bath" wasn't even working. The workers were not friendly at all and we weren't even greeted when we walked in. I don't know why one of them was ranting about their body shape and not getting a million dollars in their bank account hella loudly, like I could hear them from the other side of the store. To top it off they didn't even bother to put our new friend in his "home" (the box!), they literally just said "the certificates under the bear," pushed our items toward us and walked away. I think the workers need to be retrained or something because this is not the Build A Bear to experience no matter what age. But at least my son loves his new bear! read more

We just got the latest Cubscription box from Build a Bear and it was so fun. It came in an adorable box with bunnies and bees on it. Totally saving it. Inside was the Spring bunny. The box also included matching t-shirts for my daughter and the bunny, as well as bows for their hair. It was very cute. She loved it and has been carrying around her "twin" bunny everywhere. I am separated from my daughter right now for an extended period of time due to military commitments. And I created a purple dinosaur for her and included a heartbeat and my voice recorded saying her name and that I love her. Came in here yesterday with my little family to build a bear. First my two boys picked out their bears.next its time to put the bear together. You put the heart,using this touch desk computer thing, you scan you're bear then pick out all the stuff you're bear is strong,caring there a lot more. Next step it to pick out if you want you're bear to say anything you go to another touch computer and pick out what you want you're bear to say,they have pre recorded stuff you can pick or you can voice recorded you're own,you download this to this little box that cost from 4 to 7 dollars. Next its time to stuff the bear,this is where they put the heart and talking box in, your kid put his or her foot on the pedal while the worker stuffs it. As soon as bear is all stuffed you give your bear a shower in this little table that has little brushes and plastic soap after you're done with this. You go to another computer to pick out your bears name to put on his birth certificate for your bear. On to the last step this is where it start to cost more, you pick out the outfit and shoes and accessories for your bear there any where for 5 to 10 per item you pick after that you pay. Both bears came to like 95 dollars. Bear come in a little cardboard box that looks like a house with the birth certificate inside. It's a go experience for the kids one time thing. I attended a kid's birthday party here a few weeks ago, and my little guy really enjoyed the experience. Two facilitators (I don't know what their official titles were) lined the kids up to help them pick out their bear husks. Creepy word - husks - but they were just that - shells of bear that had to be filled. My little guy picked out a white one. The facilitators immediately ask your kid what you want to name your bear. Some of the little kids in the party didn't give names, which was a shame - more on this later. I helped my little guy pick out his name, and he was satisfied. All the kids are then shepherded into an area near the bear husk filler. Once they've chosen the little satin heart to go into the bear (very cute), they all sit around in a circle as each child is taken up in turn to have his bear husk pumped full of fluffies. The bear is then sewn up, and the child gets to give his bear a "bath" in an airstream. SUPER cute. Then, in as organized a fashion as I've ever seen, the facilitators allow each kid to pick out an outfit for his bear. My little guy was *thrilled* with his bear. And he got a carrying case with a "birth certificate" - including the bear's name. Those little kids who didn't pick out names got blank birth certificates, which was kind of sad. There are two issues I have with this place as a birthday party venue - (1) The party is over really fast. We were there merely 30 minutes for 20 kids! (2) The party wasn't really interactive, either with the other kids or with the staff. It was mostly kids with bears. Fine, but not a super party-like atmosphere. Expensive as all hell, but awww where else can you do this?! Pick your own bear (or other animal), press the foot pedal on the stuffing machine, make a wish on a satin heart and put it inside, sew him up & give him a big hug! Then you can go to the air blower "shower" station, select from several over priced outfits & accessories (but they're so cute!), & make a birth certificate for your new lil guy or girl. I thoroughly enjoyed this, never mind the fact that I was the only full grown adult running around there hugging a bear. I love the Disney character costumes! The Ariel outfit comes with a green fin, purple bra & a long red WIG for your bear! AHAHA cracked me up. The only thing that disappointed me was the quality of the outfits for the price. The bear boxers were made much too long for squatty bear legs, and although we are talking about a teddy bear, the elastic waist was made much too small so it gave my poor healthy bear a horrible muffin top and thus low self esteem. Also, the bunny slippers (LOL- this place is too fun!) were made poorly as well because not a week later, the elastic on them began to stretch out so one of the slippers keeps falling off because the shoe is so loose now. My bear was not doing any heavy cross training- he mostly sits and watches TV, so I think the craftsmanship is inexcusable. Still, I love the idea of this place! But... come prepared to spend $$$! My special edition summer sea bear was $20 & the bunny slippers were $6, so with tax you are looking at almost $30 for a bear with saggy shoes. read more

What a fun place - who doesn't love a personalized plush? I appreciated their price range in animals (from $12 for a basic bear to $26 for trendy My Little Pony). And the amount of outfits and accessories they have are insane! Literally any/everything you can think of... From tighty white undies to a Jedi knight outfit to super heroes to a greaser to surgeon. The stuff is SO cute! Hard not to get suckered in: be prepared to either set big boundaries for your kid/self, or to spend big. The cuteness adds up quick! Great staff, super patient and helpful with the kids. The whole process went really smoothly and the 3, 4 and 6 year-olds we were toting all enjoyed it! read more

The concept is so adorale and any kid who still likes stuffed animals would LOVE to create their own. My daughter has bear she made at a different location that had a rip in the seam. We took it in and the sales clerk, whom we called the bear Dr., sewed it right up. They had sent a $5 coupon in the mail so we let our daughter pick out an accessory. She got a bear carrier back pack that she then wore all around the mall. It was pretty cute. I have to minus 1/2 a star because, even though it's possible to get out with a bear & a t-shirt for about $15, there are so many expensive choices that a stuffed animal can cost $50 or more. Ouch. That's a little pricey. Our daughters bear was about $40 with clothes and shoes. Minus another 1/2 star for everything being made in china. read more

We had a birthday party here for one of the kids and it was okay... I had to come in to schedule the party because they weren't really clear on how the pricing works and what availability they had (the the 1-800 number said they had time on a certain date when they really didn't) - so it was just easier to find time to come down and book it. The booking was easy - I called the week of and confirmed the party, number of kids and the price point we wanted to spend. We arrived right on time for our party and they seemed startled we were there - we stood outside for about 10 minutes trying to corral the kids while we waited for them to be ready for us. Finally our hostess came out and got us and the party began :) The kids all seemed to like the party - we had it on a Friday evening so the store wasn't busy at all, which was really nice. We had a party of 14 kids, so not too big, but a little crazy to keep them all entertained while the other's made their bears and then washed them, but our hostess did a good job. After we washed all the kids got to pick out outfits and dress their bears and then it was time for our bears to get their townhouses and birth certificates - after that we posed for a picture, settled the bill and done :) read more

I never went to Build a Bear as a kid and I just started going when the My Little Pony plush came out. I was a nervous wreck being 19 and going to Build a Bear for the first time, but the employees here immediately put me at ease about it! You can really tell they work here because they enjoy cuddly stuffed animals too! I have gone for every release of a new pony and even once as a fun date activity, so I've been to this store about 6 times since last year and they are consistently good. I'm not really the type for the entire ceremony other than the heart, and I love that every employee who has helped me stuff my ponies were VERY good at reading this without even asking! They also don't mind just chatting instead while stuffing my pony. I've had some fun conversations about sewing, college, and even Harry Potter! On the other hand, the day I went with my boyfriend for a mall date to stuff our Toothless dragon, they were also good at making the ritual extra fun for him because he asked for "the full experience" because he had never been there before either. (And it remained fun depite the rude stares from people in line behind us. It's like they're never witnessed anyone over the age of 12 having fun before.)They're really great here for accomodating to individual wants! They have a great selection of outfits and other animals to stuff. They always have the newest stuff right on time and restock quickly. It can get pretty pricey, but it's usually worth it. If you're looking for a specific outfit, they're always happy to help you find it even if you are slightly vague about the description. They were great about helping my mom when she went in looking for "the yellow pony dress" for me. They went to the back and found her the last one they had in stock that day. Overall, this place is great fun for young and old alike(you're never too old for fun, after all.) Come prepared to shell out around $40 for a bear or character with a complete outfit and join their Stuff for Stuff club ahead of time to get discounts, exclusive pre-orders, and rewards! It helps to ease the suffering of your wallet, even if they're a little stingy with coupons. read more

I'm living proof that you can stop here and leave with a bear for just pennies under $20. You just can't stop at all the outfits and accessories. Is building a bear a formulaic factory-like experience? Yes. When there are a lot of people waiting and only one stuffing machine going, the stuffer has to get you in and out. There's no divergence from the 'pick your heart' routine, and yes, the cheeriness is an act, but do you really expect her to do less than her scripted professional job? For a first-time or one-time build-a-bear experience, we had a very good time and cannot think of one thing to improve the experience except very minutely more promptness at 'take me home' bear checkout. There is a very good selection of plushies to stuff; the staff are friendly; and the shop is clean and organized. read more

Everyone loves Build a Bear! I love it and I'm not even a kid anymore.. well I am sorta.. I get so excited when I go to Valley Fair haha I love walking by this store and coming in just to see if what kind of animals they have.. They had a couple of Sanrio characters a couple months back where you get a free keychain with purchase haha.. Anyways coming here has always been fun. My bf and I made one for our daughter right before she was born, we had a fun time.. Basically you choose a animal, stuff them with cotton and a heart, give them a bath and make their birth certificates out of the computer while choosing the name of your animal. I can't wait until my daughter is hold enough so we can do it together..you always can dress them up in cute little outfits. They have everything from cheerleaders, sports teams, and doctors. I've also noticed that you can bring kids here for their birthdays with some friends they do some kind of group party or something. I only wish Build a Bear was a bit cheaper... I think we paid around 60 bucks for our animal along with a Warriors outfit.. can get somewhat pricey but I guarantee kids would have a blast! As I went up to pay, I noticed that the girl who put together the stuffed animal was a little careless. The person working the register fixed the error and I was on my way w/ a stuffed animal, a spiderman costume for it, and a birth certificate. My girl loved it.....or at least pretended to. I took my little cousin here a few weeks ago because she wanted to use her build-a-bear gift card she got for Christmas. It's been YEARS since I've been here and it was nice to be there again... kinda... sorta. I would have given them more than three stars. Maybe if we weren't there for a whole hour, with the bulk of that time (45 minutes) spent waiting in a long line to just get the toy stuffed! I think they had a total of four stuffing machines... three of which weren't being used (wth?) I felt bad for the poor girl who was working one of the machines because for every toy stuffed, she had to follow a very specific process to make it a special experience for every child... talking to the child, faking her cheerfulness, stuffing the toy, asking the child to give it a hug to make sure the stuffing was to their liking, then asking the child to grab a heart, to rub it and make sure it had a "heart beat," kiss it, hold it to their heart and make a wish before putting it inside their new stuffed animal... can ya tell I was in line for that long to memorize the build-a-bear making process??? After the long wait to get the darn thing stuffed, my cousin was finally able to do all the fun stuff - washing it with... air, registering it - she named her new friend, Lucky - and then dressing it up all up. She decided on getting a basketball jersey set complete with it's own little basketball + shoes. It turned out to be such a cute toy =) To the store: next time you have a store full of loud little girls, please be more efficient and use the other stuffing machines! read more

I went in there in a BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHD Mood, And it didnt help some old lady called me a "Pedophile" with her grand child when I walked in there. BUT! She ended up like not even going in there. But the mood quickly shifted because of the nature of the place. But I went in because they had My Little Pony stuff in there for a limited time. GOT MY RAINBOW DASH PKUSHIE! (Thank you been a fan of Dashy since the FIRST gen of MLP), But the line was moving SOOOOOOOO SLOOOOOOWWWWWW! BUT THAT WAS OK! I got into a conversation with a little girl about the age of 6-9 years of age about My Little Pony, we were talking our favourite episodes. Her mama was right there joining the conversation too. Someone else got ridiculed I GUESS! I dunno but an employee said "You are never too old to make a friend." But when I got up to actually make the plushie, the staff was SOO fun when they were stuffing it. Even as a 22 year old. They treated me like a child, and that was fun! It was a unique experinece. I thought that I would not be back. But hey Rainbow Dash needs clothing yeah? :) An employee tipped me that they may be getting more MLP stuff, I am HOPING it is Twilight Sparkle and Spike! ;D The price you pay, it is well worth it; whether you are making a friend for yourself or with your child/ grandchild... what ever. read more

My granddaughter was there for build a bear for her age BUT WAS TURNED AWAY...its not like I arrived late either....I got to a build a bear location shortly after they opened! I was here at 10:30 AM on a Saturday. There were eight customers, including myself, on the sales floor looking around. There was a stuff your bear party going on, so two employees were busy with that. I can understand that. But two other employees just stood around and watched the bear stuffing party. Seriously? A few of the customers said things like: "I hope someone can help us find what we're looking for!" and "Where the heck can I find some help?" Some customers were waiting to check out, but no cashier was around. Finally, one cashier showed up. She was very courteous and friendly. The manager just stood nearby behind the counter with a blank expression. I got their stuffed animal cleaner, which is of good quality, for my mother's Winnie the Pooh. I bought a Cookie Monster on their website. He showed up in a box on my doorstep completely hungry. I finally took him into the Build a Bear in San Diego to get him stuffed happy and full. Unfortunately during the move, he didn't quite make it so well. A few misplaced stitches during his birth made him pop since he had one too many cookies. I took him into this location and somehow even though Cookie was discontinued, they managed to locate another one in a different store or in their shipping channels. I got a new Cookie Monster... stuffed to the envy of all the little kids in line.... Muahahaha! read more

My first time here was about a month ago. I'm 20 years old, and while it may seem weird to some that I decided to come and "build-a-bear" at this point in my life, i thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I'm a big fan of my little pony, and when i saw the plushies they had for mlp, I knew I had to go in and make one. I got fluttershy for $26 and her gala cape/outfit for $13/$14. The guy who stuffed my fluttershy was friendly and nice, and while my bf and I got some odd stares for being the only older people in the store who didn't have kids or were employed there, it was still fun. The products here were all very high quality, and i'm looking forward to having fluttershy with me for years to come! read more

I will preface this with that we went early on a day where most kids were off school. Therefore, we pretty much had the place to myself. Anyhow, my daughter had a blast and got a bunny. It was on sale so that helped. The staff was really kind and gave my daughter a lot of attention. She felt pretty special. Now, it was expensive. Like it is TOTALLY a treat and we won't do it often. The animals themselves are a bit pricey and then you add the clothes and stuff and you get a pretty pricey day. Try and find coupons or something if you can. Those who have children will know how exciting it is for the little ones to 'make' their own stuffed toy. At Build-A-Bear Workshop, your child can choose their own toy to be stuffed and then add items such a voice to it, give it a heart, and then stuff the bear him or herself. When that part is done, your child can also create a birth certificate for the toy which gives it a true sense of belonging. Averaging about $28 a pop, it isn't the most expensive nor cheapest stuffed toy around, but definitely worth it to see your child's face light up knowing that he or she made this toy on their own. read more
