We went in to build a bear for the first time ever to celebrate my daughter's first birthday with their "pay your age" bear. I wasn't sure how this would go, but it turned into a more meaningful celebration than I ever could have imagined. I really believe this was due to Trish (I think that was her name) and her care for our family's experience. She made us feel so special and like our daughter's birthday was important. She involved my baby in the ways that my daughter could participate at her age and was so patient and kind. The bear was $1 (her age), but you pay extra for accessories. We went a little overboard and got a beating heart and sung her happy birthday, which she can press the bears paw and hear forever. But it was worth every penny. I believe this will be a tradition for our family and I look forward to seeing next year's bear, as she told us it changes every year. read more

We booked our second party with the Reno Build A Bear, for our grandchildren, they really love making their own stuffed animals. Unfortunately, one of the little ones was hospitalized the week before our party date and was not able to make the party. We explained this to our host and she was very understanding, when it came time to make the missing child's animal we all got to put a heart in her animal and all the other kids got to hug her animal, it was the sweetest, as a grandma, I had a hard time not bursting into tears, I was so moved by this wonderful gesture. We had a wonderful experience here for my daughter's second birthday. We went in for the birthday bear/pay your age. What a great idea for the little ones to get a special bear for their birthday. We went last year to a different location and it was nice to see that the bear was a different color and had a different design on the feet this year. The staff were all so sweet to my daughter and made her feel extra special. They each engaged with her and celebrated her as they learned that it was her birthday. It's a thing, Teenage girls coming back to Build A Bear! My daughter and her best friend came here to celebrate Birthday! Very cool and totally cute! Both girls shopped for matching stuffed animals, added voice messages to each others stuffy. They even added heartbeats, So freakin cute! This is a place we used to bring our Angie bear when she was a little girl. We have many Disney stuffed animals from when she little. After going to dinner for the first time since the pandemic started, we went to build a bear workshop, where we have been several times since the pandemic started. They still require that customers and staff wear masks, which is totally understandable, because most of their clientele consists of small children who are too young to be vaccinated yet. We got to see familiar faces there, which was also therapeutic! Getting out of the house doesn't have to be scary anymore now that more and more people have been vaccinated! If you're going to the mall to visit build a bear, the mall itself doesn't require masks for vaccinated people, but some stores do, and build a bear is one of them. Keep up the good work BABW crew! I'm an avid Pokemon Go player so when BAB started carrying all the CUTEST Pokémon - I of course, had to start collecting them!! My very first BAB Pokémon was my Char Char or Charmander, one of the original starters of Pokémon history! He was (and still is) my FAVE for sure! Earlier this past Spring, my new GOLDENDOODLE puppy got a hold of Charmander and chewed half of his face. BAB had just discontinued stocking Charmander online - and I really thought there was nothing I can do! In August, after speaking to friends on Facebook, I discovered that BAB has a "Bear Repair Hospital". I rushed him there (Reno's Meadowood Mall) as soon as I found out about it! About 2 weeks later, he was returned, to the store, all fixed!! But my daughter who dropped him for me, had said it could take up to 12 weeks. So at the end of October, I called BAB, and they said, "We're so happy you've called! Charmander has been here since the end of August, and we've been calling you and tried to leave a message, but your voicemail was full! I was so grateful he was all fixed and ready to pick up, I didn't care! Char Char had the cutest t-shirt on and he looked absolutely stunning!! Had a boat rental booked that was canceled last minute due to weather. We decided to go to Build a Bear instead. I'm so happy we did! This is not just a store, it's a full blown experience and the store associates make sure of it. I do wish their were more options as far as bears and clothes but they still have some really great, popular character options. After you select a bear, you get to select a sound, clothes and create a very special birth certificate! The atmosphere there is so friendly, the associates include your child with a very hands on creation process and give you memories to last! The staff here are amazing ! They turned our day around! My son walked in and asked if it would be okay if he could see one of the bears and the enthusiasm in their tone made him so excited to be in the store. They showed him around even though they knew we had been there before and helped him pick out a bear and a Halloween outfit. He was able to stuff the bear and she made sure to let him check if it had the right amount of stuffing. They did the cutest "heart ceremony" together and he was able to dress his bear in the changing room. I was truly amazed by my experience here, I will definitely explaining why It was princess Grace's birthday and so mom wanted to take her because I guess there is a pay your age birthday bear. So she just turned 2 and for a $2 bear. We walked and in and were greeted by the sweetest little lady named Atley, she realized what was going on and asks, "are we celebrating a birthday??" Little grace wanted to wear her tutu to go shopping and with her crown headband, birthday outfit Anyways Atley was very gentle about approaching Grace and getting her to follow her and choose the different options. We go through the process and little princess is so happy and bouncing off the walls with her her "tita beh" as she says Forgive me if I got the second gals name wrong, I believe it was Shannon, well she was quite the joy as well and the reason both of these gals were such a joy is because we were in for the birthday thing which costs very little but they didn't care about that, they still gave it their all. Because I loved this experience and these girls were so memorable you bet your little asses that we are doing the build a bear birthday party package for baby grace next year. Ok would you believe I've never stepped foot in a build a bear before? And who knows if I ever would have unless my stepdaughter has been invited to a birthday party here. First of all kudos to my friends - cool place to have a party for 3-7 year olds (do older kids like build a bear?) it was a little disorganized one girl would tell a child to go stand in line to stuff their bear but the stuffing girl would tell the kid to sit back down. It got confusing. But I'm not here to review the party - just the store. It's a cute concept, one that clearly thrives. You pick your animal (they have a couple other ones than bears i guess from what I saw in the store) and then you add a "heart" inside which I'm guessing is plastic - I didn't get to touch it cause I wasn't a kid at the birthday party. Then you stuff your animal to how soft or hard you want it (you can add a scent inside it) then the fun stuff ---- choosing your outfits! I think I looked more than my 5 year old did at all the cute shirts, skirts, dresses, and even shoes! There are also fun accessories like purses and a skateboard! I don't know the price of the bears because the party included a bear and a T-shirt. We did buy a matching tutu that was only $8.00. I felt that was reasonable and affordable that we can come back when behavior is good and she can choose a new outfit for her bear. I felt it was a fun time and kids were into it. Build A Bear is a great place to take your kids or go there for the kid in you! We had a good size party in there today and it was about 20-25 people in there. It was hectic to say the least but the kids had fun. The excitement was in the air. Everyone was friendly, the staff is awesome and professional. They catered to the kids and the adults. For our party we got the Ultimate Experience and got 1 clothing item, 1 footwear item, 1 sound box, and a drawstring backpack. We make Rafeal from the Ninja Turtles and a teddy bear with Star Wars theme and dressed teddy as Rey. We had a great time! With the amount of people we had in our party I was surprise how well the staff took care of our needs. They did a great job dealing with the kids. One of the staff members also did the heart ceremony where the kids listened to a story about how each bear needs a heart to become alive. They just did a wonderful job occupying the kids. If you ever want to take your kids here for their birthday or a special occasion it would be a great experience for them. I would recommend it. I think it work well for a big group because the kids seem to get along real quick because they were helping each other pick out clothes, shoes, and even help picking out their bear. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and even though we took a long time to decide on even the base the girl at the front, Olivia, was more than happy to just chat with us and answered all of our questions! Went here for a birthday present and we loved the whole two hour experience! It took us a while to settle on a bear and then it takes time to pick out every little item... the music, the beating heart, and then to fill it, don't come here in a hurry ! My littles loved all the pomp and pageantry of the event and really didn't want to leave when it was all over. We have had many visits to build a bear over the last 12 years but something about the employee Olivia made this one a little extra special. She learned that my daughter had the same name and was overjoyed. My daughter brought in a bear to stuff that her aunt gave her for Christmas and Olivia got her all kinds of excited as she stuffed it, did the heart ceremony, picked a scent, picked out an outfit and accessory for her bear and helped he name her! Through the whole experience Olivia was very enthusiastic as my daughter got excited with each step of making her bear her own personalized and special friend. It made my heart so warm and I really appreciated the fact that Olivia didn't treat my daughter like she was a nuisance or get annoyed that my daughter was a little louder than most kids would be. Granted she was the only child in the store besides her baby sister but it made me really happy that she created a personalized experience for my sweet girl when she didn't have to. Took the kids to get their mom a Christmas gift. Staff was extraordinarily rude about the reasonable ADA accommodations I needed to visit their store. The manager, Octobyr was equally as rude about the situation. I felt humiliated being forced to stay outside the store while my kids went in. Its a little pricey, but if you love teddy bears like I do, you'll get a kick out of making your own, from the stuffing all the way to buying all different outfits! These bears makes GREAT personalized gifts! They have all kinds of uniforms you can dress your bear in, so if you know a cop, firefighter, nurse, you can make them a bear that they'll love! TONS of accessories for the bears! I love the little bear sunglasses! So cute! This store in the mall is small and expensive, but my daughter absolutely loves it. You can pick your character and have it stuffed and they go through a little routine with your child putting a heart inside after kissing it and making a wish etc. They sew it up, your child pretends to wash it, you pick out outfits and accessories and then off to make a birth certificate then it's check out time. For a normal sized bear with an outfit is around 50 bucks, today we spent 72, she got a little bit extra today. It can get really crowded in there, best to go when there aren't too many people there. read more
