This is a really fun place to take the kids. They have a variety of dolls to choose from that range from $12-$35 and the kids love watching their bear get stuffed. I love how you can pick a heart from the heart box and the kids get to perform "heart surgery" on it before putting it inside the doll. It can get pricey from all of the add ons (scents, sounds, clothing, etc.) but they have so many options and prices that it is easy to stay within your budget. My son had a $100 gift card and he was able to get his doll scented he added a sound, chose an NBA outfit, tennis shose, skates, a brush, dog food, medical kit, underware, and a leash. So he was able to get a lot of extras but as I said if your budget is smaller you can just skip the extras. At the end you also get a birth certificate for your animal. read more

We celebrated my daughters birthday at Build-A-Bear last Saturday and I was very happy with the service all my guests received. I asked to start the party 10min after the scheduled time as some quests were running late due to traffic and the manager said no worries and to let her know when I was ready. When my guests arrived, we walked in and the manager introduced herself to the kids and parents and she also introduced the person who was going to lead our party, both ladies were sweet, attentive, and very professional. The party lasted about and hour and a half, the kids chose a bear, named them, stuffed them and dressed them, as usual, but also played games in between to make the time waiting for others, fun. The ladies helped all guest stay within my budget, which was $30 per guest. And ALL guests walked away with a bear, clothing, AND accessories. After boxing up their bears, the kids were escorted to the front of the store where a picture was taken and given to me as a keepsake. They also took my daughter (she was celebrating her 3rd birthday) to the front of the store, where she rang a bell and had the whole store sing happy birthday to her. The kids also received complimentary snack boxes. Everyone had an amazing time. Even my mom made a bear!! And I received so many compliments from the parents on how much fun everyone had, including the adults... And I was under budget. Overall a great store. Great customer service. All the staff is very sweet, helpful and professional. And the prices are great, bears start at $12 and they have a wall space next to the cash registers where they have clothes, shoes, and accessories all on clearance!! read more

Overwhelmingly crowded and pricey, but the kids had a lot of fun. The only disappointment I had was that they only carry a small fraction of the animals featured on the Build-A-Bear website. My son had picked out an animal he loved and then found out the only have it at one store in Southern California - the Downtown Disney location. read more

I have not been n here personally but my ex got me a bear so I'm ratin the bear onli not the service. My bear was beautiful and I loved her. She came wit a birth certificate and and cute box. The reason I took away 1 star was cuz this store is super expensive compared to other locations. But I love my lil bunny bear. read more

Came here because I'm a total sucker for stuffed animals. Even as an adult, the atmosphere is always welcoming. The staff was very friendly. The staff will still do the heart ceremony, even if you're an adult! I ended up getting the on sale reindeer along with a build a bear passport! The passport is such a cute way to keep track of all my build a bear visits! read more

First time experience for my daughter building a bear. Amanda was so amazing!!! She made it special for my daughter. Talking to her and making it so exciting. I didn't see other workers do that. So thank you Amanda for taking that extra step with being so energized and making a child feel so loved. I did walk away spending $90 on one bear, clothing, and accessories. When asked why this event was not better planned the response I got was " it just went viral we didn't expect it to be this big" seriously, in this day and age of social media what did you really expect to happen? It was a great idea, the execution was piss poor planning. I hope you find a way to make it up to your customers, I can already see hashtags #buildabearsucks #boycottbuildabear I can see those going viral as well. We've been to this store a hand full of times and always had a great experience. Went to the riverside store and had a terrible one. I now appreciate all extra effort the staff puts into making it special for my little one. Makes it easier to drop $50 on a bear. read more

Just went for my kid's birthday and got the birthday bear (Count your candles promo). The website lists things that a birthday child gets, but the staff don't know about them. Didn't get birthday heart or birthday heart ceremony (just regular heart), didn't get to ring the bell, there was no happy birthday song, and got the hat after we were finished with shopping, and when I asked about the photo prop, staff said it's usually for the parties. On the website they make it sound like a special experience, but all we did was wait in line and buy the bear. read more

G-Daughter wanted a bear for her collection so we went here on a weekend and it was so busy! It was right after Christmas so I assume kids were using their gift cards, but that was no excuse for the line being so long! They did have trouble with one of the stuffing machines. However, they were sorely understaffed for the busy holiday season. There were only 2 girls working the registers and 2 girls stuffing bears. The line was literally out the door and into the mall area and we stood in line for an hour. They really should hire more workers this time of year. read more

We took our 3 year old daughter specifically for the Autism Speaks bear. We'd never been before so it was a little overwhelming. I was rather nervous because with her being on the spectrum I knew that this trip could go from triumphant to tragedy in a heartbeat. Upon arriving, we grabbed the blue bear and let my daughter play with the display of sound buttons while I observed the process and made a mental note of the store and the location of everything. I needed to make sure we could find what we needed quickly and make this trip as short but pleasant as possible. Finally, it was our turn to stuff the bear. The clerk was completely unaware of how to handle an ASD child. Which is not her fault nor a requirement, but would have been extremely helpful. I do appreciate the kindness of the employees during this visit. I was satisfied with the selection of clothing and accessories. Overall I think Build-A-Bear is a GREAT service for all children.. from start to finish it's a hands on experience for a child. my husband and I went to this store today around 1:30, and was helped by Cynthia she was so helpful and patient as we looked for our valentines day presents for our kids (Pikachu) . we were debating on how to gift them because our kids love stuffing them and making there birth certificates so she suggested buying it so they don't sell out and bringing them valentines day to stuff and buy extra. which I loved. read more

So let me just start by saying that this review is coming from a regular customer not a newbee. This is my local build a bear store. I go here probably once every two months or so. The store is ok. It's kind of small compared to some other build a bears I have been to but so are a lot of other stores in this mall. I think this is because I go there so much and they kind of know me but when I walk in they don't really greet me. I have never been told what I'm supposed to do (I don't really need to be but I was thinking that it is not very good customer service.) The selection of animals is good and the selection of clothes is good too. The store is always clean when I go there. The employees are helpful if you ask them questions I guess. They helped my boyfriend pick out Valentine's bears for me (I wasn't with him) and once when I was there I needed a band aid and one of the employees got me one. The thing I don't like is that the employees don't do the heart ceremony with me (but again, I think it's because they kind of know me and know that I'm an adult.) Anyways would recommend this store it's pretty good and I have seen some happy kids in it at birthday parties and such. read more

My son and I went in to purchase a Bear with a personal recording. Since I had just lost my grandmother we just want to get her voice recorded perfect. ( After all I am paying for it) . I knew it was going to take a few tries to get the perfect recording, I even let customers behind me go ahead because I felt bad for holding them up. The floor manager Sofia came to assist me and I explained to her what I was doing and how this means so much to me to make it perfect. She was rude, heartless and called Ryan and said can you help her. As a manager you should make suggestions, say I'm sorry, maybe have some heart. I was explaining to Sofia that the 20 second recording was actually only recording 18 seconds and she responded in a defensive voice and said well then buy 2 of the 10 second ones! Um ok so now that's more money and if the 20 sec one was only doing 18 I explained that the 10 sec ones where going to be 8 secs each. She's said well 8+8 =16 dont know what to tell you! After that Ryan was totally patient with me, she took me to a quieter place explained the difference in the recording chips. I apologized to Ryan for holding her up for so long and she said don't worry about it. I explained to her what the recording means to me and why I was doing it. I was in tears trying to make this perfect, she was even in tears with me. Ryan never rushed me. Thank you Ryan for your excellent customer service. read more
