TJ Maxx in Ontario is a really easy stop for me since it's right across from Ontario Mills and Costco. It's definitely on the smaller side, but I'm always surprised by how many good finds I come across when I take my time. The store is usually pretty well organized, which makes the browsing feel less chaotic and more fun. I like that it still delivers that classic treasure hunt feeling without being overwhelming. They also had a great selection of candles. The staff I encountered were all very kind. I agree with another reviewer, this TJ Maxx is super messy but they do have great items for a great price! I bought two Nutcrackers here for a really good price and the quality was excellent! The line was super long due to holiday shoppers and it didn't help that there were only 3 registers open, at one point there were only 2. I waited about an hour in line and all for two great finds which were Nutcrackers! The manager was the cashier who rung me up, she apologized for the delay, that was nice! This place seems lost.... I haven't been in a T.J. Maxx in forever and I think I now know why. Just dropped in because I was driving by and it was there. I wanted some clothes but the selection was SO limited, I found exactly zero things to buy. I spent about thirty minutes just browsing, even revisiting some sections and it was slimmmmm pickings! I also found a ton of opened items which seemed bizarre because some looked taped together with some boxes just left open. I don't know who would want to buy something like that but who knows. To be fair there are a lot of home goods, linens, knickknacks and.....phone cases. There was a back to school theme going on as well as some Halloween decorations but for such a large store they don't seem to have much going on. I went to the luggage section and couldn't find a decent set, I looked for a leash for my dogs and I guess I was barking up the wrong tree, nada. My advice? Skip this place. The selection is bad and it's not like they have these incredibly low prices or anything. It's not chaos but all the open box returns(?) just laying around does not instill confidence in this store. I was at TJ Maxx around 2:30 PM and saw a long line of about 10 people waiting while only one cashier worked. (Nicole U)Meanwhile, two other employees stood nearby chatting for about 10 minutes. Located on 4th St. Plenty of parking in front. I like to browse at different stores because not all stores get the exact same product or some sell out faster the other places. I found several merchandise here that I don't normally see at the one closer to my home, which is nice because I'll probably come back here to pick them up. The store is messy and unorganized the service here is also terrible especially THE MANAGER NAME CONNIE she's really impatient, rude and racist!!! I was helping my grandma check out and would translate for her and she kept rushing us (keep in my mind there was no one else in line) and she kept giving us attitude. RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!! It's also been confirmed to me by another employee here that she's racist against Hispanics. I will not tolerate this!! This review is due to the excellent services provided by the Store Manager Becky. She took care of me from the beginning (starting with a phone conversation) until the end (I went into the store). Becky listened and was empathetic to my situation. She did not have to assist and support according to "store policy", but exercised discretion to take care of the customer. I did not purchase at this store specifically, but Becky took care of me regardless. My wife and I consistently shop at TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, and Marshalls - we have the Credit Card. This is a very large and newish Tjmaxx. They have a lot of cute seasonal stuff for fall and Halloween. The only thing I noticed that they do not sell children shoes? I wish they did. TJ Maxx is a little cleaner than the Marshalls across the street at Ontario Mills, but sells pretty much the same stuff. The front of the store looks nice but once you hit the shelves in the back and especially the kids/pets corner it starts to get unruly. This TJ location is unlike the others. You can definitely tell it's the same managers training the new ones because they all drank the same punch. I'm a serial HG/TJ/Marshall's shopper. I can predict most of the prices before looking at the tag and the usual items they get, I pretty much have their prices memorized. I am also familiar with the system, how to read the tags numbers and more- I could probably work there. Point to all this- I know my ish. Sometimes, tags are missing, so I will take a pic of the same item (in a different variety/color) and when I get to the register, instead of having them call someone to track down the item and let the cashier know the price. But it never fails, they doubt me. But the thing is, the managers there always come back with a higher price. Same thing with items that should be discounted bc they are broken or missing parts- they will take like $1 off the price. Some of the stuff isn't even sellable. I try to reason sometimes, but for principle purposes, I have to walk away. Now they are creating their own rules on returns/exchanges. I tried returning a Halloween item that I meant to return prior to Halloween, but completely forgot. It was early November and the manager said they don't allow seasonal items to be returned. I noted that it didn't say that anywhere on the receipt. The manager said, no it doesn't say it there, but it does on our sign here and online. So I go home and I carefully analyze the return policy and NOWHERE was it mentioned that policy. I had a receipt and everything so I was entitled to store credit. I went to another TJ Maxx today (keep in mind- the end of December for a Halloween item) and boom- store credit, no questions asked. It's unfortunate because clearly I love the store and this one is the closest to me. My hopes are that management checks themselves. In the meantime, I'm sticking to my local Home Goods because they are the best. read more

How is a TJ Maxx going to look nice on the outside and on the inside but the women's restroom looks like it went thru hell and back , that's crazy because my boyfriend used the men's restroom and he said it was nice, smelled clean and look sparkly like it was just clean but the women's restroom smells like a porta-potty you are forced to use at a concert. Yesterday evening I was in the store looking for a gift and came across a leather bag. The employee came to unlock the item and advised me it would be located up at the front and when I was ready to check out they would ring me up. Upon checking out I asked the cashier if a gift receipt was possible. She said she would get me one. When she gave me my total it seemed quite high. I asked why and she realized she double charged me. Didn't apologize even once. When I got home I noticed that not only did she not give me a gift receipt but she also never gave me the leather strap to the purse! This has completely wasted my time because now I still don't have a gift. I called to ask to speak to a manager last night. Was put on hold. When I was transferred I asked if the girl was a manager she said yes. When I explained the problem she said she wasn't a manager but she was a key holder so she couldn't do anything. She promised a manager would call first thing in the morning. It's now 2pm! No call. They don't even care. Last year I ran in to buy some nylons for a special event. The next morning I open the package only to find out the nylons were used! I will spare you the details on how I know they were used but it was disguising! UNACCEPTABLE This store continues to disappoint. Check items when they are returned. Train employees to apologize when they make mistakes. Review items especially expensive ones when selling them. These are basics Tjmaxx. Otherwise you're going to loose valuable customers. read more

It's a big space we usually come looking for the holiday decor Halloween, Xmas etc. Sometimes they have gems sometimes they don't have much selection. Wow was I impressed with this location. This review will be a Rancho vs Fontana Location. I typically go to the TJ maxx in Fontana (only because it's closer to me). However, last night I was trying to kill some time until my husbands flight landed at the Ontario airport. This location is very clean and organized! (Minus that messy trash can in front of their entrance) as soon as i walked in, I was greeted by the cashier. I went to the purse/bag section (since it's literally right when you walk in) they have a lot of really cute fancy/high end brands (still kinda pricey though). While I was trying to pick a little backpack, a friendly lady came up to me and asked if I'm finding everything ok. We ended up chatting about purses she was so sweet! (Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name). In Fontana no one has ever attempted to walk up to me, so I was like awe they're so nice here lol. I really hated this TJ Maxx... I came here in hopes to find some tops and pants for work. It was a fail. This place is super tiny. They literally had a section for Girls, Juniors, and Women... but like, 2 racks of clothes for each section. I couldn't find a single pair of black pants/slacks, or any tops that are suitable for an office job. I was so exhausted after an hour of going through each piece of clothing... only able to find tee shirts, and moo-moos. Any of the clothes I did find that could have passed as office wear, all had holes and rips when I tried them on. And the heat in that store. WTF. It's summer time, and it was like a sauna in there. The line to check out was insanely ridiculous. They had 2 cashiers working, and a full line. The girl working at one register was just chatting it the eff up with a customer. Seriously dude... I understand the need to be friendly to customers... but when you have a long line, you learn to keep conversations short, while still being friendly. That's how it's done in retail or customer service... or that's how it SHOULD BE done. But whatever. I'll drive to the Upland TJ Maxx next time. read more

This store doesn't have much od a selection of different clothing styles.They are limited with how much they have to sell. Whether that is women or men clothing, also if you are looking for work attire for interviews they don't have much here. I give it two star rating because they didn't really have a lot of variety of clothes, and the cashier upfront had a bad attitude.
