The employee Mona was very unprofessional to the customers and co-workers. Spent more the $150 at this store with the Pokemon items. I believe the other workers there can operate the store without Mona being there. At least Build-A-Bear themselves reached out and listened to my story on how Mona made this visit unpleasant read more

Build-A-Bear Workshop - Build-A-Bear taking ownership of the unprofessional Manager Mona. - Toy Stores Near Me - Ontario, California

I visited the Ontario mills location to have a bear re-stuffed and a new voice box recorded. The store was busy, but I was happy to wait with my sister. We were greeted by the store manager, Mona, who seemed experienced and focused on keeping the store running efficiently. Sage, the employee stationed at the stuffing machine was clearly doing their best despite the long line and seemed overwhelmed. After stuffing my bear, Sage asked us if we could let Mona know they needed help sewing up the bear so Sage could continue helping the customers waiting in line. That seemed like a reasonable request. No line waiting for Mona up at the cashier register.. When we brought the bear to Mona with said request, she openly criticized Sage in front of my sister and I , displaying annoyance and aggressive attitude towards her employee Sage. Stating that they weren't doing their job efficiently, "you know, like a little kid" rolling her eyes as the words slipped out. perhaps implying immaturity or lack of experience.. My sister addressed her comment appropriately, " no, not really they are an adult.." making it clear Mona's behavior was distasteful and needed to be addressed differently. Regardless of Mona's intent or implication, it's never appropriate for a manager to speak about an employee that way in front of customers. Mona appeared more interested in discussing the situation with other employees than addressing her own concern directly with her employee Sage. After that, the customer service toward us noticeably declined. This interaction left a disappointing impression. I hope this location reevaluates how leadership handles employees during stressful situations, because professionalism starts with management; and We do sincerely hope re-evaluation begins with Mona, as unfortunately I noticed this isn't the only review mentioning her lack of professionalism and probably won't be her last if nothing changes. read more

I have been coming to this exact Build-A-Bear location since I was a little girl, dating back to when the company still had its original online website. Because of that, this experience was especially heartbreaking. Earlier today, my mom and I came in to make a bear for my dog, who is currently hospitalized in critical condition and may not recover. While recording a voice message for the bear, we were both visibly crying. The employee who assisted us witnessed this firsthand. We decided to purchase everything while the sale was going on and return later to have the bear stuffed once my dad arrived after driving an hour and a half to meet us. Before returning, I checked Google, which stated the store was open until 9:00 p.m. We arrived at 7:59 p.m., only to be met by the same employee who had helped us earlier. She looked at us and coldly said, "We're closed," before dismissing us. My 75-year-old grandmother kindly explained that my dog was critically ill and asked if the bear could simply be stuffed because we were hoping to get it to her as soon as possible. The employee repeated, "No, we're closed," with no acknowledgment or empathy for the situation. I completely understand that stores have closing procedures and that policies must be followed. However, what upset me was not simply being told no--it was the complete lack of compassion. Working in a store that serves children and families, I would have expected at least a kind response, such as, "I'm so sorry you're going through this, but unfortunately we're unable to accommodate your request because we're closed." Instead, we were met with coldness and dismissal during one of the most difficult moments my family has experienced. Even though we were only asking for the bear to be stuffed--not to shop or browse--the request was met without any empathy. I have been a loyal customer for over 20 years, and I never imagined I would leave feeling so disappointed. Sadly, after this experience, I do not plan on returning. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so that no other family going through a difficult time is treated this way. read more

Took my son here for the first time on his 9th birthday and he had a great time. We were greeted upon entering the store and asked if we needed help. I told the lady this was our first time here and she took great care of us, I wish I got her name. She showed us where the birthday bear was and also the capybara bear. She handed us over to Deziree and she was amazing! Helped my son pick out everything he needed for his stuffies and we were on our way. Will be back with my other son when his birthday comes around. read more

Extremely disappointing experience for my daughter's first Build-A-Bear visit. I was really looking forward to making my daughter's first Build-A-Bear experience fun and magical, but unfortunately, that was not our experience at all. The employee rushed through the entire process and seemed more focused on getting through it than making it enjoyable for a young child. There was very little interaction with my daughter, no effort to make the experience exciting or special, and the entire process felt rushed, impersonal, and frankly, awkward. Build-A-Bear is supposed to be an experience, especially for little kids. The magic comes from the interaction, enthusiasm, and making the child feel like they are part of something special. If an employee doesn't enjoy interacting with children or isn't willing to be friendly, enthusiastic, and engaging with them, then this probably isn't the right position for them. This is a children's experience-based business, and that interaction is a huge part of what parents are paying for. My daughter was excited to be there, and it was incredibly disappointing to watch what should have been a special first memory turn into something that felt like a quick transaction. For her first-ever Build-A-Bear, I expected much more. We left feeling very dissatisfied and disappointed, and I sincerely hope management addresses this because children deserve to have a fun and memorable experience when they visit. read more

We went for my grand daughter's 2nd bday, on her bday for the great special they offer! One of the girls told us about the bday pkg but did not offer the bday girl a bday hat. Thats fine, but really when we got in line for the stuffing of the bear two girls were working the stuffing machine with a couple people waiting for stuffing and they disappeared one at a time. Eventually one came back and really didn't have the personality to be working in this type of environment. She was not up beat and was very distracted with anything else happening around filling my grand daughter's bear. Kind of disappointed with that. But the kicker was when we asked about my grandson voice button possibly being changed out well absolutely no customer service.... No help at all with indicting it was possible to change it out or not! It was crowded and not worth it as we were really trying to make it fun for our littles. With what you pay for these experiences with the littles I would expect the most experienced person would be more accommodating and at least provide some definitive answer! instead we left with a less then positive outlook with the employees except the most positive was the check out process the young lady was very nice but geez have her stuff the bears so the littles can be more excited about it. We took my grandson to the Brea store on his 2nd bday and had a much more employee excitement experience. read more

Brought my daughter and her boyfriend here this morning to kick off the celebration for her 16th birthday! We were greeted immediately and when my daughter stated it was her birthday, she was given a birthday sticker as well as a crown. There's a lot to see here when you factor in the actual stuffed animals and then all the outfit options. They already have their Christmas items in as well. There's sports outfits, comic book super hero outfits, and more! Snoopy has sold out in stores and is only available online. You can then bring him in to have him stuffed. They really do a good job personalizing the experience. Customize your build-a-bear with a customized recorded message or choose from a stock recording. My daughter and her boyfriend got matching bunnies and they each recorded a message for the other. Just be warned, once you're done recording, it plays over the speaker in the store. My daughter was so excited she didn't listen to the instructions and panicked a little when her message played in the store. Honestly, it was pretty funny and I wasn't mad about a little good clean embarrassment for the birthday girl LOL! At the filling station, they have you step on the pedal to fill the stuffed animal. Then there's a little ceremony for the placing of the heart. They have a station for giving them a bath and grooming them. Then you can get an outfit, dress them, and finalize with the birth certificate. It can get a little pricey with the different add on options and the amount of outfits you can select. The basic option without outfits is comparable to what you'd find elsewhere I believe. I hadn't taken my kids to Build-A-Bear in MANY years. I enjoyed sharing this experience with my daughter and her boyfriend very much! read more

This Build-A-Bear Workshop is inside Ontario Mills. There is plenty of mall parking in the lot outside. We have been waiting for after the holidays for some more new selections and we were in the area, so we stopped by here to check them out. Decent amount of customers here on a weekday afternoon - there were 2 employees working, but 1 of them disappeared to the back a very long time, so there was only 1 employee working and she was helping a group of customers at the counter. We had questions, so we ended up deciding to just grab one item and leave, but we still have to wait awhile, as there is only 1 employee on the floor. read more

One of the workers who stuffs bears clearly overstuffs them and makes them look all ugly since they're overstuffed (even though I said not to). Ik life is hard but why take it out on a child's plush . Someone needs to keep an eye on that .. If you don't want to work here then don't... read more

I did not have a good experience here, the manager Mona was condescending and talked to my family as if we were dumb. I came in hoping to get a cute bear as a gift but left with nothing instead. I won't be coming back here, if you shop here hope that this manager isn't working here. The other workers were nice though. read more

worst manager ever. My boyfriend and I walked in to shop for someone, and while we were browsing the selection, the manager Mona was quickly passive aggressive with us, mocking us for "tossing and unfolding everything" then proceeded to keeping a close eye on us thereafter. After our selection, we were about to walk around the store when she said with annoyance "do you guy know what to do next?" So my boyfriend asked what to do next, and that's when we were met with more passiveness. She said "well you're NOT going to get clothing cause you're not even going know if it's going to fit, you need to get it stuffed" that's when she handed us over to another associate Citaly (who was very kind) and loudly started talking bad about us. Saying things like "help them only if they ask for it, I don't know what's up with them, they're over there so angry for no reason so watch out for them." She treated us like we were stupid and rude customers when we were just lost. We were just excited to find a special gift for someone, and Mona made it a terrible experience with her passive aggressiveness. Dismissive experience all around read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE !! The only reason I didn't leave the bear my son picked out was due to it being a gift but my experience in this store today was awful My son is only 2 years old and just like any toddler they are very curious and interested in things So where in the voice recoding section when a worker approaches us asking is we need an audio and we said no we are still looking thank you. And at that point their was another lady picking out her bear and the same employee that asked me if I needed help pretty much yelled across to her asking if she will want a audio recording and she stated yes but she still wasn't at that step and it was then that the employee told me again if I needed help and I stated no we are still looking at them and she told me that I would need to hurry because there is someone waiting when no one was even around us And it was at that point that I just put the things down walked to the register and let them know that they have bad customer service and as we are leaving she started yelling at me saying I'm a TERRIBLE PERSON!!! Over and over. I don't understand how a woman like that can work for a store like this when kids are what they care for the most why employee someone who doesn't value and appreciate what they do ! read more

We had a great time visiting Build a Bear workshop in the Brea Mall. We went for our sons fourth birthday. They had a good selection of stuffed animals. The employee that helped us was friendly, kind and patient with our autistic son. This location is rather small compared to other build a bears I've been to. They didn't have the bathtub "washing" station. They also had very limited selection of clothing. To be fair we did visit on New Year's Day so they were bringing out valentines items from the back and moving the floor stock around. read more

The employees there are horrible. They seem to be misserable and dont want to work there. The store was not busy and when we were standing in line we were waiting a while even tho there was an employee by the register. She did not even acknowledge us. While preparing to pay for our purchase, I asked a question regarding the voice recording, and if it was still available. There were other customers behind us. Kim took the time to answer the question while ringing us up, and offered to open our bear so that we can place a recorded message in the bear. She walked us through the recording process, placed it in the bear and re-stuffed the bear. She was very kind and wanted to ensure that we were satisfied. To end the great customer service, Isabella had just arrived at the check out, and immediately began stitching the bear and sharing how she cares for her bears. Both of these ladies were AWESOME!! The quality of service in addition to the beautiful bear and accessories were well worth the cost. read more

I took my niece to Build-A-Bear Saturday evening. We had such a pleasant experience and everyone was very kind and patient. My niece loved the whole experience and we are planning on making her birthday party here. The line was short and fast, the workers were patient and cheerful, and it was overall fun! My only complaint would have to be a cashier, blond with glasses, who was complaining to customers about how much she dislikes her job and boss. It almost ruined the whole experience for my niece but luckily she didn't catch what this worker was saying. I will definitely come back but some conversations should be kept confidential read more

I usually come here if they have a stuffed toy I like, so far I only have the zombear and pikachu that released last year. They also had star wars bears as well but I'm not a hardcore fan of the movies. I always walk by this store when I am visiting the mall. I decided to go in just to check it out. It was crowded, but the parents and children seemed happy looking for their perfect stuff animal . It was a little chaotic , but kinda organized chaos. If that is possible. I liked how build a bear is not just bears. They have all types of animals and cartoon characters. ( see my posted pictures) I am an adult with no children, but I want to make one for myself. I need to drag fellow Yelper Angie M. here to make one with me. I will update my review once we make one. read more

I am obsessed with Build-A-Bear..ever since I laid my eyes on the Hello Kitty one..hehe. I now own 4(?) bears or so. I made some for my sissy and bro as well, they really liked them. This location is one of the closer workshops to home, but they were out of sanrio :( not a large selection of accessories either. I ended up getting two pairs of glasses. I walked around the store and couldn't find much nice clothing except for an overpriced sundress. As for the Sanrio collection, I got them all except for My Melody. So if anyone knows where they still have some Melodies lying around, let me know asap so I can complete my collection! Join the stuff for fur club because you'll get points for purchases and they'll send gift certificates when you reach a certain amount of points. I also get coupons every so often that are very beneficial. My bears and hello kitty's are usually naked. They get quite pricey with full outfits, but I'm also not into the whole dressing up your bear thing. read more

When you're a member of the Build A Bear Bonus Club, they have the Count Your Candles offer. This offer gets your child a bear where you pay their age up to $14. It had been years since I stepped in a Build A Bear (actually the Pay Your Age promotion disaster reminded me of its existence) so I figured it was time to give it another shot. We walked in and were greeted almost immediately by one of the staff. I told them why I was there and got us a birthday sticker, birthday hat and an unstuffed "Birthday Treat Bear". BTW, an early shout out to the whole staff here. Everyone here was so friendly and always smiling. I was under the impression they really enjoyed working there. If they don't, I was totally fooled. Anyway, once you get your bear you can pick out some scents, record a voice message or add the vibrating heart. The kiddo opted for the latter and she got to stuffing. Once that was done, they sewed it up and you could choose outfits and get the birth certificate printed out. While the clothes aren't really cheap, I was OK with the prices when you compare it to American Girl (!!!). PSA: If your bear starts feeling a bit flat, you can take it there to get restuffed at no extra charge. My daughter had so much fun looking at everything and getting her bear right, I was real glad I made the choice to stop by Build A Bear. The staff was incredible and made the kiddo feel like a rock star. I'm probably going to get stuck buying clothes for said bear for a while but that's OK. Highly recommended! read more
