We love this store! My parents have been taking my son here since he could walk and point. The store is very clean, organized and has a good selection of bears and other stuffies, as well as an assortment of accessories for the bears. My son is 9 years old now, and he still absolutely LOVES to come pick out a bear to add to his growing bear family. It's the cutest bear stuffing ceremony. Each bear gets a heart and for additional price you can customize them with scent, sound, (like a heartbeat) or a recorded message. On your child's birthday they can purchase a birthday bear for the price of how old your kid is turning. My son turned 9 so he could have purchased a birthday bear for $9. Otherwise the bears can run about $30-$44 (not including accessories). The workers here are AMAZING, and they make the experience memorable for your kid. Literally the cutest place ever for kids to build a bear. I came in for the first time with my son who turned 1 on his birthday. We were greeted as soon as we walked in my the sweetest person. We got the birthday bear. So many cute accessories to add to your bear for a more personal touch which I thought was cute. They ring the bell for your birthday. We only use this location for build a bear. Both my girls get a new one each year. They look foward to it all year long. It's always a super fun time and very enjoyable experience for both the kids and us adults. On an unexpected visit I encountered a young staff member Ms.Megan. I was unaware of how the process of build a bear worked and she immediately stepped in to help. Little did I Know I would be walking out of there with one of the most precious gifts that would comfort my heart and soul living with the new reality that the love of my life has passed. 1/1/19. Voice box: Let me share I am a grown woman, my knowledge of this place was, "o it's a bear shop for kids, it's cute and pricey." I happened to walk in on a sale but the expense was soon to be less of a distraction once I was introduced To the "voice box" feature. Megan, was sure to capture the voice of my love off my phone by taking me to a quiet area of the store to ensure we caught the correct volume for the Voice box. Picking his clothes: *The converse replica -same color as his *The jeans replica-same color he wore often *The white tee, infamous to match everything In which we walked over and got screen printed next door. Thank you to Jay (Solano custom T's) Little Ms. Megan, was helping me heal a wound, and the once hope of a child. She took me through the process of bringing the "build a lion" to life, the heart feature, the air bath, dressing it & finally the birth certificate. Little did she know I had been at a huge loss,my love is gone & the hope for a child with him as well. This process allowed me to feel like a mom for just a moment in time. I sat at the child like desk, named my lion as the name I would have named our son. I can not thank Megan enough for her help, her warm spirit, and compassion, she gave in such an unannounced visit. Build a bear can be on the expensive side but I do think it's worth the memory and my kids loved the experience and their bears!

Last Saturday I had my daughters 2nd birthday bash at Build A Bear in Fairfield at the Westfield Mall. Build A Bear is located on the 2nd floor next to the Forever 21. Considering there were 12 kids, 3 teenagers and 7 adults it was a lot of us. The party coordinator made things simple, he explained to all of the party guests the spending limit for the party with the various options. He kept the smaller kids entertained and they all had a great time. The best part was the free bear as a gift to the birthday child. This was a special bear that all of the guests signed and left a special birthday wish for the birthday child. This was my first party at Build A Bear but totally worth the $. The only downside is there isn't a party room within the store to have cake and ice cream. That is the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. read more

Came in on 10/20/23 and there were hardly any halloween outfits for some reason. I asked one employee if there were more of the skeleton suits, referring to the ones on the two bears on display. She then says there are none for sale and thats that pretty much. I was disappointed but I was gonna head out without asking if I could purchase one of the ones on display. Another very nice employee overheard this interaction and said it would be fine that I buy it. As I was walking away, still close to the register, I hear her loudly tell her coworker that shes "too nice." Very strange experience especially because my experience has always been great each time ive come here. This place is MAGICAL! (I will refer to the plush as "bear" even though there's a ton of other variations of plushes to choose from) Step 1: Choose your new unstuffed pal. I obviously had to get my Beast when I saw the ad for the Beauty and The Beast bears. Why didn't I get Belle? Because the Beast is already a giant bear looking creature and Belle in bear form just kind of scares me even though she is super cute (and sparkly too). Step 2: One of the Build-a-Bear staff will take your new friend to the stuffing station and do most of the work while you press your foot on a peddle to release the cotton. They'll ask if you'd like to add a heartbeat or any other sound (I'm pretty sure you can also record something of your own) to be sewn in your plush. Since I plan on cuddling with my bear, thus am expecting to roll on him often, I don't want to give myself a heart attack by giving him sound (Sorry Prince Justin!) Even if you pass on the extra sound stuff (that'll also cost you extra), they'll ask you to pick out one of the little heart from the tub next to the machine (this is free of charge). The super sweet Build-a-Bear associate had Justin and I each pick out a heart. He said to hold it against ours and make a wish. We then were asked to trade hearts and give it a kiss. After the bear is all plump, cute, inspected by you for approval, and given life with TWO hearts, they'll quickly sew him up with a simple pull of a string. Voila! Step 3: Off to the brushing station! To get rid of the excess fluffs, you should step on the peddle under the station to turn the fan on while brushing your bear underneath it. This process helps make them poofier and cuter too! Step 4: Head on over to one of their computer. You're going to scan the barcode on the tag attached to your bear and give him an identity (aka his birth certificate). It gets printed out once you're all done and will be given to you at the register. Wooohoooo! Prince Justin is born! Step 5: Pick the outfit. Now I'm perfectly okay with leaving Prince Justin nekkid because if I don't have to wear pants in the house, I don't want to force him to either. But the real Justin insisted that I put clothes on that boy, so he bought the blue Beast outfit too. Step 6: Pay at the register. Get a cute boxed house carrier for your new pal along with his birth certificate. Step 7: Leave feeling super happy and accomplished, knowing your biggest responsibility is to take care of a stuffed bear and making sure your dog doesn't eat him while everyone around you have to take care of actual little humans. *Step 7 may only apply to me. But you get it though, right? Anyways, seriously? I highly recommend this place and this location. I've never done this in my life and am glad to have finally done so. You're never too old. The staff here are really welcoming and warm from beginning to end. I really do not have any little ones in my life, so I'm unsure of when I'll have an excuse to come back here. Is it strange that I've been to this same store 3 different times and this last time is the first time I have made a bear for myself? Well it's true, I've made one for my sister & my mom & even helped my 3 little cousins make their bears. This time I saw that great deal that they had going on and said this is it i'm making my bear. So I took my lunch break and dragged my co-worker Ivy O. along with me and I began the process....... Of course ya first have to decide how much you want to spend but in this case that wasn't an issue....(Great deal going on till the end of August, you get to pick any bear, any hanging outfit and one pair of shoes for only $29.99 plus tax) so I decided that my bear was going to be a SF Giants bear......grabbed me a Panda and got him all stuffed with love. Went over and brushed him off and cleaned him up real nice, then I stuck him in his cute little SF Giants baseball uniform with his shoes, glove and bat to go along with. Next and final thing was to get him certified, so i went to the comuters and gave him his name.......Pandoval after Pablo Sandoval......and then paid my fees. Took him home and gave him so much love and attention, then that night the Giants beat Arizona (That was on Tuesday 8/25). Now tonight he, Pandoval, will be taking his first ever trip to At&t park, and we are hoping we might get lucky and get him signed......keep your fingers crossed. Oh and as for the store, the ladies there are always the nicest and show you everything you need to do and make great suggestions as well. read more

Five years ago, my husband and I built my son his first bear while I was still pregnant with him. At first, my son was way to small to appreciate the effort we put in to building his first bear, but now that he is 4 going on 5 he loves his bear to the max especially since the Build-A-Bear now carries 4 different sets of Star Wars clothes (Jedi, Storm Trooper, C-3PO and Darth Vader). Each outfit is about $15. As you can imagine we have them all and he loves changing the bear's clothes and pretending he is in the middle of the Star Wars invasions. As for the store, it has been always clean whenever we visit. The staff as well is very nice and helpful especially with my toddler son. We will always be a regular to this location! read more

OMG I LOVE BUILD A BEAR! I don't know why I have not written this review sooner. I have been collecting Build A Bear for a little over a year now and I have almost 200. I get them from here obviously and also rescue from thrift stores but that's a different review. Anyways Jenny and her team are awesome. They are very friendly and knowledgeable about what the do. They know me and my son by name(probably because I spend a big part of my paycheck here lol). We always have fun here no matter what I am looking for be it a bear or outfit or just looking. The quality of the animals is superb. The prices range from $10-$24 for animals. $5-$15 for outfits. $6-$12 for shoes. $2-$10 for accessories. It can get pricey depending on what you get but like I said you can get a basic bear for $10 and you will have a furry friend for life. This is the bear building process 1-Choose your animal. They have bears,bunnies,cats,dogs,monkeys,foxes,flamingos,you name it they have it along with special releases and limited editions along with Hello Kitty and friends and movie characters. 2-Pick a sound if you want one. I think they are $5. Not sure because I never get them 3-Stuff your animal. This is magical. The bear builder will turn on the machine and you will press a foot pedal and your animal with be filled with fluff. You will then pick a heart and complete a special ceremony and then put the heart in your animal. The bear builder will stitch up the animal and you will go on to the next step. 4-Fluff/bath. You can give your new friend an air bath and fluff up the fur to make sure it is nice and fluffy and clean 5-Dress it. Really fun. So many clothes,shoes,hats,accsesories to choose from. Costumes,tshirts,jeans,pjs,sunglasses,dresses,sandles,boots,sneakers,flipflops,slippers,swimsuits,socks,undies. They have a great selection of Disney outfits including Princess dresses,wigs,pooh/tigger costumes, Disney t shirts. 6-Name your furry friend. You go to the computer and enter your info in case your friend gets lost and someone turns it in they will ship it back to you. You will fill out the birth certificate with birthday and name. 7-Front counter. Your birth certificate will print out and your furry friend will go home in a cub condo. They also provide free basic colored hair bows and ribbons. They offer pre made bears already stuffed with outfits so if your in a hurry for a last min gift. They also offer cute baby outfits for baby shower and new baby gifts. At least once a month they have new collection releases. They also have a rewards program where you can earn free bears and accessories as well has rewards certificates. All in all I LOVE THIS PLACE. I've been to a few Build-A-Bears around the bay area but this location is one of my favorites. Right when you walk in the staff is friendly and always willing you help you. We were taking my 14 month old godson and 9 year old god daughter to build a build together. My god son was all over the place trying to grab different things and making a little bit of a mess. As I was consistently apologizing the staff kept reassuring me that it was OK and he was just being a kid. I thought that they would be frustrated but the complete opposite. As soon as we were ready to start the process of building the bear the ladies working were super friendly and helpful. They worked very well with my godson who was fidgety but they knew how to grab his attention. The prices of the bears and outfits are not to bad unless you start getting into purchasing the accessories. Two bears with outfits including shoes were a total of $80. But well worth the smile on the kids faces! All in all I would recommend this Build A Bear! read more

My family is a huge Build A Bear fan. We've visited several across California and made multiple purchases. The 1 star reflects the confrontational employee which directly reflects the customer service aspect. My little one has a Barney stuffed animal which has gone 'flat.' I stopped by simply to see what the process was regarding, if any, a way to resurrect Barney. The employee immediately stated it was "against state law" to stuff Barney. Really!? Ok. I asked her what the 'state law' was against stuffing Barney. I pulled out my phone to confirm it. She, of course, couldn't provide it. Perhaps if she would have simply said the store didn't do that, I would have been ok. She ultimately said she would give me stuffing, which she should have offered as an alternative before 'state law.' As a long time customer I've always felt Build-A-Bear as a fun place. After this encounter I'm not so sure. And if an employee quotes 'state law', please be knowledgeable of the section. read more

My boyfriend and I took our daughter here as a birthday surprise. She just turned 3 and had a great time checking out all the different stuffed animals. All of the stuffed animals are insanely soft and adorable. They even had a pink octopus! After much thought she decided to go with Hello Kitty. My boyfriend and I both noticed that the lady doing the stuffing didn't seem very into it, but my daughter didn't seem to notice (or care). The rest of the staff seemed really cheery and happy to help. In fact, several employees asked us if we needed any help before we made our way over to the stuffing station. So they're certainly attentive to their customers. After getting Hello Kitty stuffed my daughter made sure to give her several air baths and scrubbings before moving on to wardrobe and accessories. After selecting a Hello Kitty shirt, some sandals and a purse - the total came out to $44. Very steep for a stuffed animal, but you're also paying for the experience. If the stuffing station lady had been a bit more cheery I would have given this a full 5 stars. Regardless, my daughter had a great time and happily marched her Hello Kitty to the car after we were all paid up. We just happened to come on 'Free Beach Towel Day' so she also scored a (human sized) beach towel, so that's cool. The stuffed animals start at $10 and go over $20 on some models. There are a TON of accessories to choose from. Everything from doctor's scrubs to swimsuits and more shoes than I ever would have thought to put on a stuffed animal. Loads of fun for kids of all ages! Now that I think about it, there were actually quite a few teenagers in there shopping around too! read more
