Today I took my daughter for her first experience there. She's 8 and got this as a Christmas gift. We waited over 1 1/2 hours to have this bear filled. There were 3 people working, the manager stayed in the back while two girls tried to handle the store. One girl filled, one rang up. There were 13 groups waiting to get filled bears. I watched 8 groups leave the store because the line wasn't moving. I mentioned the inefficiency to the manager. She laughed and said " oh well". I don't think employees understand that these people will never return. I certainly will not. Enough days like this and eventually there is no store/ no jobs. Short sighted manager, considering her advanced age she should have more care, she isn't training younger workers to care either. Avoid ! read more

This build a Bear has the worst customer service out of all the build a Bears. I speak for most of the employees here. Were usually are well taken care of as soon as we come in. There's 2 employees only here knowing how busy build a bear gets. One is stuffing the other is just standing at the cash wrap while theres a long line waiting to get there bears stuffed. Horrible!!! For an event that went way beyond what anyone thought, I have to commend the staff at this BABW location. Every staff member was so sweet. We stood in line for a very long and crazy 11 hours for Pay Your Age Day and not once did I see any staff member upset or frustrated. Everyone was pleasant and the store manager had a smile on his face probably 100% of the time. I want to give it up to this staff, I can't imagine the chaos you all endured today but you handled it well. I really appreciate the employees here! Twice we've been here in the last month and both times they were patient and kind. You have to have a different level of patience when dealing with little kids, and they definitely have the right people working here. I especially appreciate how they weren't outright rude about my little cousin who kept removing her mask. They would kindly remind her everytime to put her mask back on (the times I didn't catch it in time to tell her myself). I really wish I would have gotten their names. As for the bears/stuffed animals, cute AF. We took my cousins to get their own bears and I'm 27 years old but I ended up getting one for myself cuz it was just that cute lol. 10/10 recommend this location. Tip- call ahead to make sure they have the bear you want in stock! We were able to get my son a Pikachu and when we went back 2 weeks later they didn't have it. read more

I went to this build a bear location today with my boy friend. It was my first bear. And the woman working (I believe her name was Lisa) was AMAZING. She was so kind, attentive and honestly so, so sweet. You could really tell she cared a lot about her job and helping people. Her genuine happiness was so refreshing. When she had me put the heart in my bear she had me practically in tears with her putting the heart in your bear routine. If she isn't the manager and or CEO of the build a bear empire... she should be. Thank you sweet tall blonde curly haired woman with glasses that I thinks name is Lisa. I had my daughter's 7th birthday at this location. It was very easy to set-up through their website, they were staffed accordingly to manage the party, the staff member was accommodating to upgrading the party last minute, and the girls had a lot of fun!!! I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 due to the cost. It really is expensive for a stuffed animal. Of course, we have at least 5 of these animals so it hasn't stopped us from coming back! But for those looking for a deal, it's not the best place to get stuffed animals. $35 dollars for a stuffed animal with one accessory item through a birthday package. Of course, who could put a price on their daughter's happiness. Lol! read more

Left my items on the counter and walked out after girl with a power trip wanted everyone in line to move since we all were standing on wrong side. The worker wasn't helping anyone or planning to help anyone...simply walking all over the store to "model" the child's backpack that was 3 sizes too small for her. Could explain why she was in a mood as circulation must have been hindering her common sense. The staff was so awesome! I happen to place a large order for my daughters preschool and didn't receive the 20 Cub- Condos so had to go in to a store. Took my 4 year old with me and she had an awesome time selecting a Bear. The whole process of bringing a bear to life was made even more special by the young lady who assisted us today ( wish I could recall her name). Antony( based on the receipt) was so great when he helped my daughter create the birth certificate for her bear. Overall an experience any child should have. read more

This has to be the slowest and worst organized Build-A-Bear location I have ever been to. In fact it is the worst one I have ever been to. The staff is slow with stuffing and also at the checkout lines. They do not have it laid out well so customers get confused about which lines they are in. It is just an overall bad experience. We ended up just buying our bears unstuffed so that we could take them to another location where we don't have to wait for over 30 minutes just to get a bear stuffed. read more

I brought my 5 year old son here yesterday, he had never been to build a bear. We came in around about 11:30 on a Monday, it was not too busy when we walked in. I went straight to the register to ask an employee how it worked, she walked over and showed me where to pick a bear and where they stuff it, and pointed where to pick a sound if wanted. We stood in what we assumed the line was but Ash moved us and from a distance pointing to us where the line was over there, so we moved. Two minutes later Ash told us to stand by the table, which was considerably far from where the pleasant woman Maria would be able to see us next in line but we did move. As expected Maria did not see us and took the woman who was standing in the original spot we were before Ash moved us! I went up to Ash and asked why the woman was taken before us since she had previously moved us. Ash told me " I told you to stand there but you were standing there" I said " no you moved us by pointing and telling us to stand there instead of walking over and showing us where to stand since I let you know we have never been to build a bear" she continued to argue with me and finished with " after she's done with her you'll be taken" I put my sons dinosaur down along with the sound he picked and walked out to look for another location because we were waiting in line for 10 minutes. My son was visibly upset, so after 3 minutes outside I walked back in. When I walked back in I heard ASH talking about me! I was standing behind ASH as she was mimicking and gossiping about me. I was so appalled at the employee that I had confronted her and she looked like a deer in headlights denying the allegations and then finally admitting that she was " just letting an employee know what happened" Never have I felt so disrespected by employee. Clearly she was not smart enough to not talk about a customer right by the front door or to argue with a customer. We finished our experience at build a bear because my son really wanted to get the opportunity to make a build a bear and Maria was really trying to make up for Ash. I appreciate Maria and her generosity and apology for Ash's behavior. I immediately contacted build a bear to file a formal complaint and they too were sincerely sorry about their employees behavior. Never coming back here. So please do yourself a favor and go to the Downtown Disney location. read more

The stuffers were clogged and the line was getting quite long and i noticed the build a bear staff constantly working hard to make my build a bear experience great. For instance a young lady Vanessa M. gave me the reassurance i needed to convince myself that patience is key in times of unforeseen inconveniences. I will never shop here again. My daughter saves all her money just to come here and the woman wouldn't accept her 12 dollars in quarters which I thought was ridiculous. We had visited the build a bear in montebello the day before and had no issues when paying with some quarters. The woman lied to my face saying she could only accept 5 dollars in quarters. Went in yesterday to get their $5.50 bears. The place was packed but still able to maneuver around. The associates are really nice and are really good at their jobs. What I mean by that is selling. They try to upsell by adding on all the different sounds, smells, outfits and accessories. The only downside is that they did not have any of the Ninja turtle outfits anymore. My son is a huge fan and really wanted those. But other than that he is happy because we went to another store and he decided he wanted to Buy baby overalls for his bear. read more

I want to commend not only this Build-a-Bear but the employee Kris, who was absolutely amazing at handling a rowdy guest. I came here with my son, looking for a gift for my husband. I wanted to get my son's voice put in a bear for my husband's birthday. My son is on the autistic spectrum, so we came early in the morning to ensure that we would have a calm environment to record. As we were choosing the bear, a very unsavory guest started making a ruckus and yelling at the only employee. I have no idea what the issue was as I focused on my son because he gets upset when people yell. The employee, Kris, remained very calm and surprisingly professional as the guest stormed out of the store cussing and making a scene. As soon as the guest was out, she immediately turned to me and my son with a pleasant and gentle greeting, you would never know that she had just dealt with such an altercation. She was so attentive to my son, I think she saw how nervous he got by the yelling. It took quite a few tries, but she was able to get the perfect recording out of my son. The heart dance she did with my son was so special, I've never seen him so attentive when in public! Absolutely, one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. I hope Build-A-Bear knows what a gem they have! As we left, Kris waved and called to my son "bye my friend!" On a Wednesday at 7 this place is a zoo. 2 employees and lines that no one knows which end is the start and which is the end. They advertise an event to pay for a bear wethe amount of your age. Wake the kids up at 6 bring them to be in line at 730 they open at 9 . Its 11 and we probably moved 5 steps. Why do they plan something this big and not organize it well. People were cutting in line and no one was stopping them. They line before us doubled. People in the parking lot were given 15 dollars voucher to leave it became a safety concern. Build a bear I thought you would be smarter than that. For the past 12 years, my family has done an event where we make bears and donated them to a local hospital. We've used Build-a-Bear stores all over the county. This store, without a doubt, has the best manager and staff. From the beginning, Anthony was incredibly helpful, answering my numerous questions about the event and doing everything to accommodate us. On the actual day, he facilitated three groups of kids, each time with high energy, making the kids feel special. Every time I had an idea, he was one step ahead, keeping the action moving smoothly. They got a 2 star review because they would not let me chose no stars. We were told where to stand in line and another family stood in a different area about 20 mins after us. They said they were in line and when we asked the employee to take care of the issue she sided with the family that flat out cut in line. Told us to still stand off to the side and helped them before us AFTER we were told where to wait in line. A manager needs to be on the floor to handle the simplest of issues such as this. read more

And definitely not a quick process as they have 500 questions for you before you actually pay- what's your name and email? Want to join our rewards club? Are you sure- your losing points? Do you want a discounted gift card? Are you sure? Do you want to donate to make a wish? Do you want to buy a backpack? Ok- your total is $$ go ahead and complete the payment yourself. Insane that it takes 8 minutes to pay after you wait 30 minutes in line with only 2-3 people ahead of you. And the line to stuff your bear- just as bad. The bear stuffers are in no hurry at all. My experience was from Sunday July 28, 2019. I wanted to express how satisfied I was with our experience at the Los Cerritos Center location. I was simply amazed how cheerful and full of life the employees were. Rubin stuffed my daughters bear, he was able to grab my daughters attention so quickly. My daughter has Autism so she rarely speaks to anyone she hasn't affiliated with before, Rubin was able to make her laugh and hold a conversation with her about cute bears. I've never seen my child smile so much. Rubin is great with children, he definitely has love and passion for what he does. Vanessa was the other employee that helped us, she is so cute and friendly. She helped us create a birth certificate and even offered us cute backpacks for our little bear. She was also able to answer all my questions about parties at Build-A-Bear, crazy right? A party at Build-A-Bear. The cherry on top was when we were about to leave Rubin was saying his farewell to my daughter and she proceeded to hugged him and called him her friend. Thank you both Rubin and Vanessa for making our experience the best, definitely will be back to this location because of them both. read more
