If you have a chance to volunteer, do so! They are organized, the tasks are not difficult, and you get to partake in kid's STEAM learning! I volunteered for a summer school camp and in 2 hours, kids were able to make some really cool robots out of donated recyclables. Kids were engaged and thought about the purpose of their creations. Most importantly, they had FUN! The staff are very friendly, efficient, and great with kids. Would definitely volunteer again and will bring family to their events!

One of THE best places to take your kiddos to, my son never wants to leave, If he could go everyday he would. I love seeing what he comes up with, he loves building, painting and creating. Such a positive environment. Also Peter is so nice and easy to work with you can tell he loves what he has going on there.

Are you an artist that needs reusable materials? A teacher than needs different things for your kids to use during arts and crafts? Or a parent that wants a place where your child can explore the creative part of their minds? Then look no further CCL has all of those! They have materials that could be used in both in-class type activities or just play reusable materials that you could put into your next art work. There are also different stations for kids to explore their creative side. Plenty of materials from cloth to Legos. Come and bring the whole family and explore your creative side! Definitely will be coming again!

Had so much fun building our robots!

This place is so cool! I'm way impressed by the work they do in the community. I think it's especially cool that all of their parts are recycled - bits and pieces from local companies. They have everything from leftover luggage tags, buttons, beads, washers, shoe laces, etc. It's so inspiring how they use all these leftover pieces to inspire children! I can't wait to visit them again!

I can feel the creativity as soon as I walk into the depot. Its wonderful to have a place that stimulates children to imagine, create and produce. I am happy to be a volunteer and commit to such a noble cause and work in a place that is making a difference in the way of thinking. I feel thankful and blessed!

This is place is a gold mine of materials to spark creativity in every child! It is a haven for anyone interested in STEAM activities. They not only have supplies from every industry, but they have even created kits for those looking for some direction in the STEAM learning. Prices are VERY reasonable, you purchase a set of units at varying price levels and then "purchase" supplies based on different unit prices. Check out their website for the schedule as well as Open Maker sessions to let your child explore all the Child Creativity Lab has to offer.

    So much to do!!

This is probably one of my son's favorite place to come. He is free to explore and create with no limitations. The staff is incredibly helpful and kind. I feel so relaxed when I come here as well. If we could we would be here every week. Such a cool place!!! Yay!!!

Robots. The pieces you will find!

A huge shoutout for Creativity Lab. Love this place! First time here & wish it was my second home. An inspiring place for kids to be creative. The place is overwhelmingly filled with anything and everything. Kids can create anything to their hearts desire with the materials available. My 5 and 8 year olds created robotic figures from recycled materials which later were spray painted with metallic paint. LOL one of his robot has a ticking Scattergories game timer as its head. Staff are wonderful and helpful too. Thank you for creating this place.

Ah. Ma. Zing!!!!! Here on a field trip now with four middle schools from our school district, and the tech geniuses are super engaged completing the Zip Line Challenge given a few odds and ends. Objective: Use all of the materials to design and build a ball carrier that can go all the way down a zip line without dropping the ball. Creativity unleashed and problem solving skills employed! Mission accomplished!!

Bins after bins of reusable materials for creativity.

Ask the Community - Child Creativity Lab

Do you still have Open Studio?

No, we no longer have Open Studio or a Makerspace for children to come in. We have shifted to a community resource where you can collect materials to take back home with you through appointment only.

What days and times are you open for donation drop off, please?

CCL is open for donations 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Call first to ensure someone will be there, sometimes CCL staff is at school sites teaching STEAM workshops.

Is it good for a 2 1/2 yrs old?

Hi Katie! It really depends on your child, as well as your level of involvement. We do a lot of work with hot glue guns, which would obviously not be age appropriate. However, if you took on that responsibility and worked as a team, it may be quite… Read more

Can my child volunteer, she is 12 and in seventh grade?

CCL is always looking for wonderful volunteers! Volunteers need to be 16+ years old to volunteer on their own. Volunteers 12-15 years old must have an adult volunteer with them. Email info@childcreativitylab.org for more info.

Can you buy the materials here?

Yes. CCL is not a retail store so it can't sell individual items, but you may purchase a membership and use it towards materials in the Depot for Creative Reuse.

Make sure you login to the website and checkout locations and dates and register yourself for openings. It's great to come with family, friends or coworker. They have many different ways you can volunteer your time or just put a shoebox together and drop it off at a processing location. We had a good time joining a team on the floor and were given a little training and we went to work for a couple of hours. My first job was to scan shoe boxes that people had donated and wanted it tracked. It was kinda boring as those were infrequent so I switched over to checking shoe boxes that were donated making sure they didn't have certain items not permitted in the box. After awhile I switch to taping boxes shut after the inspection process which worked out fine as I was constantly working. For those who aren't familiar with Sumaritan's Purse, they are a Christian-base nonprofit that provides aids to areas of need here in the U.S and third world countries. They were actually one of the first responders to bring aid to rural areas that were hit by a big typhoon in Central Vietnam in 2017. Air lifting over 200,000 POUNDS of supplies to the villagers who have lost everything. Operation Christmas Child is one of their projects that takes place from Nov-Dec. You can watch one of their videos of this operation on YouTube. Which was how I found them actually. The idea is that you take a shoe box and decorate it and fit anything you can into a shoe box for a child in a third world country (socks, soap, toothbrushes, hair brushes, a small toy, pens, pencil). And then you can drop off the shoe boxes at their processing center by a certain deadline (and if you pay for a tracking label) you can track where your shoe box may end up. OR you can sign up to volunteer during the holidays at the processing center to inspect the shoe boxes or even stuff shoe boxes (companies donate supplies that you can put into boxes). The whole operation is so efficient , to watch one group inspect, one group stuff more gifts in light boxes, one group tape and one group organize the shoeboxes into bigger boxes with tracking labels is really a sight to behold. EVERYONE that you come across are EXCEEDINGLY nice and gracious, from the parking attendant, to the front desk/lobby people to the people running the warehouse. I do understand how Sumaritan's Purse could come as "too much" for people who are not Christians who wants to help. However, I think this organization is truly doing something not just special but extremely meaningful that could change a child's life in a small village some where in the world. With a simple gift from a stranger a world away, to let the child know that they matter, and you you could also include a letter if you wish. Sumaritan's Purse really goes out of their way to deliver the shoeboxes into rural areas often times using elephants to do so! Operation Christmas Child only goes on from Nov to mid Dec (before Christmas because they have to get the shoeboxes out of the U.S. before than)! Cheers!
