Great place for mom's. They offer so many free classes for parents and share tons of resources. Highly recommend to any mother.

Labor of Love Birth & Postpartum - 2023

Labor of Love Birth & Postpartum

(120 reviews)

I found Labor of Love by doing some of my own research online. And thank God I did! My doula,…read moreKaren, was my rock throughout my labor and was 100,000 percent amazing--I'll definitely be working with her for my second! A little backstory: I was overwhelmed and so nervous about finding "the one" person to be a part of the most important event of my life. After doing my research and reading through all these bios, I honestly was left feeling overwhelmed, especially knowing how indecisive I can be. I knew I just had to trust my intuition and my gut on this one! After looking at Karen's bio on their website, I had such a good feeling. Staci (the owner), who was super friendly and professional, helped me get connected with Karen, and I booked an interview right away! Karen was so sweet and asked me about my pregnancy experience so far. We discussed how I wanted my birth to go and any concerns I had. There wasn't any pressure to hire her, and it just felt like she was already invested in me, like I was already family. I even had her video chat with my husband to make sure we both felt comfortable and vibed well together--and we sure did! Overall, Karen ended up being the perfect balance of knowledge, experience, and professionalism. It was the most perfect amount of care I could have asked for. She was also such an advocate for my birth plan to work out. Before, during, and after my labor and birth, she was always naturally in tune with what I needed. She was never overbearing, worked so well with my husband, and gave him space to be a part of my support team as well. I am so grateful to have come across Labor of Love

The business owner is quite the opposite of the type of person any vulnerable new mom should have…read moreto work with. My experience with Labor of Love was almost two years ago now but continues to upset me when thinking back on my experience. We hired Lauren as our doula, who made it clear she expected us to go far past my due date as a first time mom. While it's possible for that to happen, it didn't in my case. At 39 weeks and at 5am while in active labor and getting ready to head to the hospital, she let us know she had Covid. Her backup was Karen, who I wish we hired to begin with as she is far more caring and professional. Though unfortunately our experience still fell short and we ultimately delivered without Karen present. We were left feeling like we invested a lot of emotion and money into this process with ultimately no help. Staci has been incredibly rude to us since then and even revoked our access to watch her training videos, sending me a link to pay her once again when wanting to rewatch for our now second baby on the way. Karen herself even recommended we ask for a partial refund due to our experience, but Staci lacks the professionalism and courtesy to her clients. Truly mindblowing that she revoked access to the training videos after we had already paid for them. I would stay far away and recommend a more experienced and caring doula group.

The Sanctuary Wellness Center & Yoga Studio

I have been curious about Sanctuary Wellness Center & Yoga Studio for a long time now. I was so…read moreexcited to see an opening for Aerial Yoga during a time I was available. I made sure to arrive early... especially when there was this excerpt on the class that says, "Arriving late, even unintentionally can take away from others - their peace, focus, and time". The parking lot was hard to find. I actually had to circle it a few times before finding it, and parking in their back lot. I entered from the back door and made my way through the front to check in with the owner. I checked in early. I signed in. I SIGNED THE WAIVER. The owner was going to give me a studio tour but she kept getting busy with other things. That's fine, not an issue. Their studio space is small. For aerial, there are 9 silks, so 1 for the instructor and 8 for the students. The front left is a bit close to some equipment so the teacher took that spot when it got busy. The spacing is a bit tight, and can cause students to bump into each other if they are not mindful. Also the studio is off a busy street and I can hear the cars driving by, so it could be more relaxing. Come early! Especially with aerial. It is important to adjust the silks where the bottom is at your pelvic height. A lot of the students did not come in until the start of class time, and the instructor still had to lower the silks and then adjust it to their height. OUR CLASS STARTED 10 MINUTES LATE. I don't blame the instructor because they can't turn away their students... but that is 10 minutes wasted from my time even though I was early and prepared. The aerial class itself was a great work out. A bit on the basic end of aerial yoga. I know the instructor mentioned she designs it based on the level of the class and we had some folks who were first timers so the instructor went easy on us. The owner offered to take pictures for us, but she went away. The instructor was nice to take photos too, but her yoga skills are definitely better than her photography skills. In one of the photos where my face and body shaped looked the best, she had her whole thigh in it. Sigh. We were 3 minutes from class ending time and we didn't even get into the silks for a cocoon savasana. At that point I just left cause it didn't seem like we would be doing the savasana or anything. What annoyed me the most ... is receiving a messaging telling me I didn't sign a waiver and that I need to sign one next time. WOW !! I came early... signed the waiver... had my time wasted... and now I get this email telling me I didn't sign the waiver. Before receiving that message I was in the air about coming back. But after seeing that message I was so annoyed. I am not coming back... It would have been more tactful to wait for me to come back and ask me at that time to sign if they misplaced the last one. I work out to relax but this whole experience was so stressful. I shouldn't have my time wasted if THEY are disorganized.

Kind of warm/ hot in the studio for my liking. I run hot though- so maybe this isn't an issue for…read moreothers. Parking is in the back- not much parking available. I wouldn't want to park in the neighborhood/ street. Very nice and friendly staff! They are very welcoming and inviting when you arrive! The waiting room is relaxing and comfortable. No shoes allowed inside the studio. I probably need a beginner/ gentle yoga class. I couldn't do most of the positions/ poses. Oh well. Next time!

I was so relieved when they were able to fit me in for a same-day morning appointment on a weekday. My massage therapist was Jessica and she is amazing! She provided so much relief. I was getting headaches from all the tension in my neck and shoulder area, but after seeing her I did not get a headache the entire day (and hopefully not for awhile). She skillfully worked on all my crunchy knots. I felt like a new person after just one hour. Jessica is also incredibly friendly and welcoming. She really listened to what I needed during this session and gave me helpful advice on stretches I can do on my own. The studio itself is simple and has three massage therapy rooms. If you want a fancy shmancy, frou frou place, this may not be what you're looking for. But if you're looking for serious massage therapy, I highly recommend coming here!

This was my first time coming to Dynamic Touch. I've actually been wanting to come here for a while…read morebecause the website and reviews looked amazing. I was welcomed by another therapist and she offered me water and gave me paperwork to fill out. Unfortunately I felt disappointed during my massage and after I left. I've had many massages and prenatal massages and didn't leave feeling wowed like how I normally do. I'm 37 weeks pregnant and booked a 90 min prenatal massage. My therapist showed up just 3 mins before my scheduled appointment and she brought me into room #1 before being completely set up. The table was tiny (smaller than a normal sized massage table) and uncomfortable. There was an office door open within the room and I thought that was so weird it was left open. It felt awkward getting undressed. I'm just used to the lights being dimmed, music on prior to getting settled into the room. The massage was ok. I just felt like I was getting the same up and down movement along my spine for the majority of the service. I found myself saying "my shoulders hurt too." Hardly any time was spent on my legs, hips or arms. I wrote in my paperwork that I wanted to focus on my back and hips and verbally said my I.T bands hurt too. I did dooze off but at this point in my pregnancy anyone rubbing me down for 90 mins, anyone would. After getting off the table I felt like my hips still hurt due to the lack of padding on the table. Needless to say, I won't be rebooking. I don't feel my $135 was worth it. I know they can't help with the sound of airplanes taking off every 10 mins, but the Costa Mesa location in my opinion isn't ideal for relaxation.
