We kept seeing the little buggers (pun intended) on the walls and finding small mounds of wood dust on my computer desk. We initially tried a mail order do-it-yourself pest control subscription, which the ants laughed at. Then the colder months hit, and the ants seemed to go dormant. When the 2nd spring rolled around we decided enough was enough, and shopped around for a pest control service. We selected Benjamin's "Pest Ref", and I wish we had just swallowed our pride during year one and went with him initially. Benjamin was wonderful. He inspected our home, put my wife's mind at ease that we DIDN'T have to worry about termites (as ants and termites are mortal enemies), and recommended a plan for getting rid of our ant problem. We found his rates to be extremely reasonable, even beating out the prices of the nation-wide pest control companies. He treated the house and let us know to expect more pest visibility at first (as they were being killed/driven out). He came back out 2 weeks later for a follow-up treatment, and I haven't seen a single ant since then! Benjamin was professional, sociable, and a complete pleasure to work with. He has followed up with us via telephone to ensure that the bugs have stayed away, and they have. And I'm so glad I did, for 2 key reasons: 1.) IT WORKS: From a purely functional perspective, the treatment definitely helps keep pests at bay. For the first few weeks after we moved into the house, spiders, ants, and palmetto bugs were nearly everyday occurrences (as they tend to be in Florida). After Royal Palm treated, it felt like we had our house back. We pay for quarterly treatments, and while they offer free interim treatments if we notice an uptick in pests in the home, we've never had to avail ourselves of that offer. If we ever see an insect in the house, it's rare, and they've usually given up the ghost by the time we find them. 2.) CUSTOMER SERVICE IS SPECTACULAR: They always call US to schedule our quarterly treatments, which is a nice perk because I'd never remember. They're always friendly and professional. And our technician (Craig) is a super nice guy. Very efficient, always on time, AND he wears booties over his shoes when he comes into the house, which is such a nice touch. We like to maintain a "shoe-free" home to keep the floors clean, but we don't typically ask guests to remove their shoes because we don't want to make folks feel uncomfortable. So the fact that he wears paper booties over his shoes as a matter of course is just an incredibly thoughtful thing to do. Again, highly recommended!

After the first visit, termite activity completely disappeared for over a year. As you may know, without tenting your home, you can't ever fully get rid of termites, especially living in the Colonialtown neighborhoods. The large majority of older homes deal with it in some capacity. Our last two visits have just been quick spot treatments because of the protection and treatment we got the first time. We only ever have 1 or 2 small sites of activity a year (no more swarmst though), which is a huge improvement from the last company we used.
