Buff's Pub is a tiny little place, but still packed with plenty of customers! We ordered take out for a crispy chicken sandwich, grilled chicken sandwich, honey teriyaki wings, and buffalo nachos. The wings were definitely the highlight of this meal. I was expecting honey teriyaki to be sweeter, but it definitely had a punch of spiciness to it. The buffalo nachos were topped with fresh tomatoes, lettuce, and onions that were all still crisp and crunchy. Take out nachos are not the best since the cheese ended up all together in chunks of the dish. The buffalo chicken was shredded and spicy, a bit dry, but overall okay. The crispy chicken was definitely also on the dry side and needed some extra sauce. The bread was pretty thick, which made it pretty filling. The portions are quite big and you would definitely be able to split one with a friend. Overall, I'd recommend getting the wings if you try out Buffs! read more

Buff's Pub - Chicken sandwich, spicy chicken sandwich, honey teriyaki wings, buffalo nachos - American Near Me - Newton, Massachusetts

Great atmosphere if you're looking for a local bar vibe. Friendly and warm. Get the wings!

Buffs Pub is crushing it with excellent food and quick service. Bring back Maple Hot!!

We've only ordered for takeout from Buff's. But each time we've ordered, it was accurate and the food delicious. And to be honest with you, the Nashville hot chicken sandwich was one of the best I ever had with the chicken pounded thin, flavor was balanced (not blazingly hot), and the roll was just the right size. And the last time we had takeout, I went in (usually my husband would), and I found the place to be packed! Clearly, they're doing a few things right. read more

This review is only about the buffalo wings, not about the pub itself. However, since Buff's claim to fame is their wings the two stars is fitting enough. Being something of a buffalo wing aficionado I heard good things about Buff's. Apparently whoever I heard that from has never had decent buffalo wings. Because these wings were terrible. The only saving grace for Buff's "Famous" wings is the sauce, their sauce was very decent, not too vinegary, just right. The meat is the issue. They fryolate the wings, good wings are ALWAYS baked, never fryolated. Even so, you can fryolate them fairly well but these were definitely over-cooked so that the tendons were hardened lumps. The chicken itself is poor quality, tough, gristly and gross. Either the batch I had was from tough elderly birds or the meat is factory-farm. Idk, not going back to this place for wings. Maybe their other fare is better. read more

Great wings and chicken sandwiches. AND they actually take cards now. Outdoor seating is welcome addition since the pandemic too.

My favorite bar for wings In Massachusetts, hands down. Worth the drive from anywhere.

Apart from the cash only policy this experience was a good one we ordered nearly every flavor of wings on the menu accompanied with a few beers. While the wings are more expensive than most it's within the Spectrum when you evaluate the whole experience. Service was average typical for a college Style Bar you won't get Superior Service and attention but they won't ignore you you may have to ask for everything you are looking for from napkins to water refills to having plates taken off the table to make room for more. None of which should be considered out of the ordinary again the only drawback is bringing enough cash to keep the party going without having somebody run out to the ATM. Most know there would be only one reason why a restaurant would want to stay cash only in today's economy but I'll leave my politics aside since it's not food-related. Our experience for a party of two left a tab of approximately $70 plus tip we did order heavy in order to gained the most from our experience and bring home leftovers however we did eat most of what we intended to bring home. read more

First and last time going here. Was expecting some decent wings for 25 dollars. What I got was the exact opposite.

Haven't been here in awhile. Great food . Generous portions. Pleasant environment. Outdoor dining option. read more

This place was supposed to be known for their wings... I must have missed the memo. BBQ wings were drenched in sauce, couldn't even split flavors despite getting 20 wings, and the basket of fries was OK. To make matters worse, the service was terrible, and I honestly I try to give establishments the benefit of the doubt during peak hours, but this was inexcusable (love asking the host for the tab). Look elsewhere if you're looking for above average wings and service. read more

I have heard about Buff's and their wings for so long and finally got here last month with my fiance! WORTH THE WAIT. The hot honey was our favorite - started with an order of the classic, bone-in wings. Then got nachos and some more wings, boneless this time (hot honey again). The bone-in were definitely better, but both were delicious. Nachos were also pretty standard for this type of bar/restaurant. Already can't wait to come back! read more

One of my new favorite places! Chicken is very fresh and amazing quality and flavor. Love the sandwiches, salads and of course the wings! Reason for a 4 star instead of 5 stars: 1) Burrito was not good. Should be redone or removed from menu. 2) I would love to see some more sauce/flavor options for their legendary wings. Honey mustard and teriyaki is pretty standard but surprisingly not offered. If they want to get a little creative then I would definitely try a Thai peanut or Asian or Indian inspired flavor. read more

Fast forward 6 years since my last review, we've moved back to the neighborhood, and we had a Déjà vu experience! Feasting on their chicken wings in house (a couple of times since moving back) still is a stellar experience despite the aloof attitude of the staff and it being a cash only place. Superbowl Sunday wings take-out still is a mediocre, underwhelming disappointment with an absolute lack of flavor. It's like they use half the amount of sauce on each order on Superbowl Sunday. Fool me once... yada, yada, yada! read more

Best wings around, no question. Feel free to diversify - good burgers, chicken sandwiches, etc. easy takeout, nothing not to like, a true gem read more

The best wings I've ever had in my life - garlic cheese sirachi and garlic Parmesan are unbelievable

I've been to buffs pub twice. The first time I went, I got the shrimp bo poy. It wasn't my favorite because there was a large ratio of bread to shrimp, causing the sandwich to be dry overall. The second time I went with my friends and they got the Buffalo Wings. They enjoyed the wings and finished all of them read more

The wings are average - tough and a little too big. They need to go with a higher quality chicken wing vendor. Buff's is nowhere near the gold standard that Duff's and the Anchor Bar bring, but neither of them are in the Boston area, unfortunately. The place is a busy hang with your standard beer selection (Stella, Guinness, Sam Adam's, et al) and full bar. Oh - CASH ONLY! read more

Wings best ever! Service very quick and food always perfect! Never disappointed! Staff is awesome, great beer on draft and always a game on!

If I could give 3.5 stars, I would. My BF and I got here around 7:30 on a Friday night. We were told we would have to wait 30 minutes but that turned into 50 minutes. Be prepared for this to happen because it seems as though they are understaffed. We ordered the french fries, 10 Buffalo wings and 10 honey hot wings. Fries were average, buffalo wings were slightly above average and honey hot wings were REALLY above average. I am a buffalo person but if I were to go back I would definitely just do the honey hot wings. read more

Amazing Best wings ever Honey hot is fantastic and always so fun to hang out with friends read more

If you want to come for some wings and drinks without all the fancy decor, this is the place to go. I think I had just about every flavor and the only one I didn't care for was the Maple hot. As for the best wings in Boston, they are really good but I've had better. So many different choices on the menu besides just wings, but since my friend wanted to come here for the wings, it was a good opportunity to come since its been on my to go list for a while now. The wings were sauced just right which is a big plus for me, some places i've been to in the past either over sauce or under sauce. That will ruin my experience for me. My favorite flavor would have to be the honey hot, as it has the perfect ratio of sweet and spicy. You start having a tough time stopping yourself from eating one wing after another. Some people maybe look down upon establishments who take cash only and its 2016 blah blah blah who doesn't take cards blah blah blah. I don't have an issue with this as there is an atm right next door. Service was always very attentive with refilling drinks and making sure to take away the bone baskets and switching it out for new ones. We ended up counting up the amount of wings we ordered and it tallied up to an astounding 140 pieces. Conveniently located right off the mass pike exit, parking can be somewhat tricky as the side streets are permit parking only for residents after a certain hour. I'll be back for some more honey hot wings for sure. PS: don't be that person who disrespects chicken wings and leaves tons of meat still attached to the bone. read more

Buffs is an awesome local spot in Newton. You walk in and feel like you're at a small and cozy sports bar. The food is great and they have so many different local craft beer options and sports on tv. We have had to wait a while to sit even with a reservation, but the managers have always been apologetic when this was the case even once getting us a round on the house. If you come here you'll be taken care of eventually, just make sure you have some time to spare because sometimes it's a little slow moving. read more

Super efficient and friendly staff. Best wings in the area hands down. They're also very accommodating for my daughter's picky pallet.

This place was recommended to me by 2 of my coworkers. This is a classic pub that serves solid food. This place reminds me of a similar vibe to Candlelight Inn in Scarsdale, NY. This place is cash only, and they serve some solid wings. The other food items looked legit when I looked around at the tables. This place seems to be consistently crowded. There are no reservations, so it's 1st come and 1st serve and it's cash only. It's def worth the wait though! read more

Hands down, the absolute best wings around. Even after moving 30 mins away, we still go out of our way to go to Buff's whenever we're craving wings. I've tried a bunch of the flavors, but honey hot are my favorite. Perfectly cooked - crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and tons of meat on the bones. The half wing plate is the perfect portion with 10 wings and your choice of hand cut fries, sweet potato fries or onion rings. They're a little stingy with the blue cheese, so I always ask for extra. I can't speak to the rest of the menu because I've only ever had the wings. They get very crowded, the service is just OK and they're cash only. Usually I'd remove a star for all of those "negatives", but the wings are just so damn good that they still get 5 stars from me. read more

Great wings for a fair price. Fun spot to watch the games and get some drinks. the wait staff is also always friendly too. Only downfall is that it is always packed and tough to find a seat unless you get there early. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good wing spot read more

Absolutely incredible. Hospitality was amazing and the wings were by far the best I've ever had. Get the medium sauce well done wings and you're set. 5/5! read more

Dare I say, the best chicken wings in Massachusetts? PROS: The wings. Different sauces, bone or bone less. Cooked to perfection. Meaty and yummy. CONS: Cash only. Sometimes hard to get waitstaff attention. The place is tiny. Not much seating. Always busy around lunch and happy hour. OVERALL: Go for the wings. Bring cash. Pick a less busy time, you'll be happier. read more

Best wings I've ever had. Super chill vibe.

I've never reviewed Buff's Pub?? SHAME ON ME!!! Been here 5 times and every time it was delish! Best chicken wings around IMO. Honey Hot is the preferred flavor by most people. Just the right amount of sweet and zing to get the job done. This place is usually VERY crowded every night of the week so be prepared to wait. Or get there early and score a seat at the bar. They have a vast menu of items that look tasty but i always get the wings. Crack wings as me and my friends like to call them because they are so addictive. And they carry Heineken Light. WOOHOO! Only bad thing is they only take cash so come prepared so you don't look foolish when the bill shows up and you have only Visa and lint in your pocket... read more

Came here today and have to say it was very good. We got the wings and the spicy chicken sandwich. The wings were why I came and was not disappointed. They were large, crispy, and delicious in the medium buffalo sauce. They big surprise was how great the spicy chicken was. The habenaro and other spices they coat it with was really tasty! The chicken was juicy and it was a huge sandwich. Traveled a little bit to get here but I'm definately coming back for more! Great menu. read more

Nice find, good food. Made a quick stop off the highway to kill a few minutes before heading to the airport. Place looks like it has a good dive bar feel. Very good food, friendly staff, and a surprisingly clean men's room! read more

Wings baby. Wings. First time back since the Celtics lost in 7 to the Heat last year. Sad... On a brighter note the wings here are still pretty good. I got the honey hot sauce, for some reason the wings seemed over fried and it looks like the chickens are getting a bit thinner these days. There wasn't a whole lot of meat on these wings and it just seemed too dry. Buff's has definitely been better, I always love their wings and this is usually my go-to place for wings when I am craving them. Maybe they just had an off day. read more

BOSTON'S BEST WINGS: According to the Improper Bostonian Magazine And, yes, they are quite good wings. Moist, meaty, moderately crispy, not overly sauced. My fav was the Garlic, Cheese & Sriracha, with chunks of spicy garlic all over them. Good place for a quick lunch or after work beer. read more

Buff's Pub - MY FAV: The Garlic, Cheese & Sriracha wings - American Near Me - Newton, Massachusetts

Buff's is a cute little place. It's a bar/pub. The stuffed buffalo head is a nice touch. The restaurant was pretty empty on the evening of July 3. The Harpoon IPA on tap didn't have the best head- maybe it was towards the end of the barrel. The waitstaff were pleasant and efficient. We decided to do some chicken wing research. We had an order of old school Buffalo wings, extra hot and well done. The wings were cooked perfectly. Buff's extra hot sauce is equivalent to medium strength elsewhere. It was good. We tried some of their garlic/cheese/sriracha wings in the interest of science. The main flavor that came through was that of the garlic. There was a hint of sriracha and no detectable cheese. The wings were fine, though. I am a chicken wing traditionalist. We also tried the chili-cheese fries, strictly for research purposes. They were very good. NB: Cash only! Overall a pleasant experience and a good meal. Buff's has very good wings that would hold their own against most other places. read more

Hometown vibe, great wings, and plenty of beer! This place is just what you would expect from a cash only, wing, sports bar. Full disclosure it is cash only which can be inconvenient, but with a Bank of America next door it's not so bad. The wings were delicious, I recommend the honey hot ordered extra crispy! The spicy crispy chicken sandwich is also great! The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the drink prices. While the food is very reasonably priced, when ordering a glass of wine and beer tab came out to $20! I expect wine to be $9+ especially in Boston, but when the craft beer is evenly matched it can be a turn off. Overall will definitely return and dive into the saucy, crispy wings again! read more

Usually 5 stars every time. Yesterday, not their best work. Slow service, even though it wasn't too busy. Got the Honey Hots (of course). Asked for mostly flats, was told "sure". 80% Drumsticks. Soda was flat, so they made that flat. Again, slow service to close out tab. If you are going to charge $25 for an order of wings, maybe a little more effort. read more

As usual I had a great dining experience at Buffs the wings were phenomenal and the service was great as always but the highlight of my evening was the doorman Matt Swain. Mr. Swain was courteous insight full and a great conversationalist. He helped my party in many different areas during the night including service bussing and check running. He truly deserves high praises read more
