This was my first visit to this place that was named "Best Chinese Buffet for 2018". What an absolute joke. I was seated very promptly to my seat and the food smelled good so I was excited to dig in to the buffet. When I went up to the buffet they had lots of choices that all looked very good. Only to find out that the food was not hot. Warm at best. There was one worker fervently sweeping the floor around the buffet and I ran into him three times while trying to get my food. I get that the floor must be swept but try to do it when the floor is least busy. The food was very bland and I could have had a better dinner at home. The rice was hard, the chicken was gummy and dry at the same time. How is that even possible!? I eat through what I can and go to the Hibachi grill in hopes for better. The Hibachi grill is a nice option but it is not up to code. The open food choices were not kept chilled, they were room temperature and that included the meats. The green peppers specifically were not green but more green/grayish. The sauce options were not covered and the seasonings were not exciting. After I get my food from the Hibachi and head back to my seat I then notice that there were flies all over the buffet areas on the food! At this point I knew it was time to go. The best way to describe how you'll feel walking in is that you probably won't get sick here, but you wouldn't be surprised if someone you came with for lunch did. They have hella options and you can get in and out quickly. The buffet costs about $8 at lunch time and it's level of cleanliness is average. The service is average, at its best and at its worst. Found on google. Outside is unassuming and could use a freshing up, but once inside you see that you will have choices and lots of them. My son who is 11 tried salmon sushi for the first time and really liked it. Good sushi selection. They had blue steamed crabs. A little small but hey, if you like crabs it was an alternative to the cost of crabs at 75.00 a dozen. We both enjoyed our food choices. The desserts were typical small pastries, and Hershey's icecream. Just enough to end with a sweet bite. My son commented that the interior was pleasing and the bathrooms were clean. We were visiting VA and need a place for lunch. We were greeted immediately and shown to our table. It was crowded but we did not have to wait to be seated. There were 9 people total in our party and our drink orders were brought to the table right away. The food is very bland but it was displayed nicely and it was hot. The cost per person with tax and gratuity was about $13pp. The staff checked on us frequently and refilled our drinks quickly. I usually have no complaints when it comes to this buffet, I like the food and I've been going there for a couple years. However when my 10 YEAR OLD sister was charged ADULT PRICE for being OVER 5 feet tall it left a horrible taste in my mouth. Its crazy that they can take one look at your child and tell you that they're an adult in their eyes. Qualification: This is a 4 star place for budget Chinese buffet. In other words, at this price point, it's great. The cuisine is primarily American style Chinese food. They do feature a Mongolian grill and a pre-made sushi bar. They also have the standard mix of hot dishes, salads, and desserts. My YELP! review, The NEW "Buffet Star Buffet" ; (formerly Wok n Roll) . I drove by it over the weekend , never new it was open. So Monday I went there with my Brother and Tuesday(today) went there with a co-worker and OMG!!!, the food was soooo good.. But the most important fact is the Mongolian. Lets take you thru the steps.. You grab a plate and choose from the many,many veggie choices, only seems to be noodles no rice though. but then you get to the meat section... Usually multi-choices of meat are reserved for dinner, but not this place... You get Crabmeat, Beef, chicken, pork, & shrimp during lunch. Then they have 5 choices of sprinkle seasons for the food itself you put on... I enjoy the steak seasoning just to add extra flavor. Now the MOST IMPORTANT to us Mongolian preferred customers.... They have not 4, nor 6 flavors, they have 12 flavor choices, thats right... "12". You set your plate down, then grab this small cup and ladle in all the flavors you want, mixing and matching, they have a chart to assist you if needed. Now the coolest part. You place the plate of food and cup of seasons on the counter and the cook grabs it and, "BAM!!!" 2-3 mins later (not 5, not 10) but 2-3 mins later the food is done and served in a nice large bowl.. Which allows you to grab some rice or other foods off the buffet to mix up with the Mongolian if you prefer... ( i like to add fried rice and mix it up).. Some-how that new hibachi grill cooks faster then I've ever experienced and it cooks everything well... Some of my buffet items: Beef & Mushroom, spare ribs, chicken legs... theres so much more, but these 3 stand out as they were well seasoned and flavorful to me.. Been there twice in a row this week, will be taking the wife this Friday during my lunch... loving it... and again as the first reviewer mentioned......... Came here for lunch with the family very clean and delicious food a lot of food variety's. I recommend 100% buffet plate includes beverage also. Kids pay less need to be 7-10 year old. Positives: the restaurant was clean and the wait staff was friendly and attentive. Negatives: I called ahead of time to ask that we be seated in the party room that they showed as available for birthday parties on the flyer. It was my mother's 61st birthday. I even called the morning of to reconfirm that we were able to sit and that particular space as I had brought balloons for my mother and we had a few gifts. Upon arriving the hostess was abrupt, rude, and very unaccommodating. When I asked whether or not we would be seated where I had specified, she simply pretended not to speak English and insisted that we sat in the middle of the dining room. The food itself was less than mediocre. I tried small portions of several items and was very displeased. The Peking duck was so salty that it was inedible. The fried scallops were cold and rubbery. Snow crab legs were boiled to death and had no flavour. I didn't even think it was possible to mess up snow crab legs... the remainder of the items I tried were flavorless - most of them were lukewarm. The only thing that I finished was a salad from the salad bar, and even the lettuce for that was not chopped into to manageable pieces. This is my first time really planning something for my mom and it was a total fail thanks to this restaurant. We had a good time and enjoyed each other's company but the food was awful. Unless you are absolutely desperate for something to eat I would pick a different Buffet. read more

My 86 year old father eats here once a week. His "special" waitress, Tina, makes him feel like a king. He's brought me three times to this buffet. I was impressed with the size of the buffet and the rapid refills of food. They have different versions of seafood that other chinese buffets do not have. The service is always good but don't expect an intimate setti ng because they pack in the customers. I'm a big guy and I need some room. I felt claustrophobic. We were seated quickly and our beverages were served fast enough. Buffet tables are laid out nicely and looked appetizing. I started with the salt and pepper shrimp, which would've probably had great flavor if it wasnt so overcooked that it was nearly impossible to peel without shredding it to gummy disgusting pieces. I decided to switch over to the sushi I had grabbed only to find the fish in the rolls was basically shaved into minuscule pieces so small they couldn't be tasted over the gobs of rice, and even the wasabi was completely flavorless. As a last resort I went to eat the raw oysters, only to find a yellow ring of scum on the shell from them sitting so long on the buffet. To add insult to injury, when we went to the counter to pay for my inedible meal, the cashier was too busy on the telephone to be bothered to ask us how our dinner was... When we arrived they gave us masks to wear at the buffet only to find out we were charged .75 per mask when we had our own masks in our packets. I've been to every incarnation of this restaurant since it was an Old Country Buffet and the current one is by far, the worst. The hostess was ice cold. Our waitress was great and very attentive. I went here for lunch and the food was just warm - not hot - and it wasn't being refilled as it should. The sushi was room temperature, so I didn't even eat any. The Mongolian station was set up poorly. They give you plates - not bowls - to put your ingredients in. So when you try to drench your stuff in the delicious sauces and seasonings before cooking, it spills all over your hands (me) or the floor (the lady behind me.) The Mongolian chef guy wasn't friendly nor did he thank me for the tip. The food on the buffet was blah at best. Definitely not worth it. And as far as a previous reviewer that stated that this isn't Vegas or what have you, good food is good food. And this place does not have good food. I will definitely not be returning. Awful! My first impression when taking my seat was terrible. They put a napkin under the table leg to stop it from wobbling around. I went up and got my food and came back and found out it was all room temperature; none of it was hot. I also got cocktail shrimp that was an opiate white. When shrimp turns that color, it's time for to be thrown out. Most likely due to them putting it back in the fridge at the end of the night taking out the next morning and reusing the same shrimp over and over again for the buffet. Even the soda tasted funny like they had cleaned out the lines in the soda machine for quite some time. Hello all I have a few warnings about this place. I had to go and do some research because the manager was telling me lies to my face and thought I wasn't intelligent enough to go and see what they have been scoring on inspections, She was wrong. I will be tracking my discovery via inspections.myhealthdepartment.com. My experience last Sunday was simply OK. service was speedy but restrooms and buffet line were a disaster. There was food on buffet line counters being swiped halfway on the floor and halfway in the hands of the person who was wiping off the line. Restroom had trash everywhere. Seemed like they were too busy to tend to the restroom. This sunday we got there around 640pm. The food wasn't being restocked, things were missing from the salad bar. The only reason I stayed was due to my child wanting sushi. The only part of the restaurant that was spotless. I proceeded to get hibachi and the look on face was like oh my. The line was a mess, food was in other food and it only takes one person to come and fix whats disarranged on the buffet in that area. I still went on to get mt plate cooked. I seen something fall and myself and the young man cooking my food look up because we both seen something fall onto the grill. He continues to cook my food and still serves it to me. My husband and I love this buffet. They are always nice and friendly. You are greeted by the door almost immediately after entering. The waitresses are great, they keep your drink full and your table cleared. The buffet is really good and so is the grill.
