An excellent and very clean place to enjoy a variety of Chinese and other foods. This restaurant is worth a trip.

Large selection. Friendly staff. The crawfish were overcooked, but that's not really Chinese is it? Overall a descent buffet for ten bucks.

Highlights: * Not…read moreauthentic Thai food; * Ultra slow entree preparation; * Foodstuff quality iffy. Details: We stopped in as a group of 5 based on recommendations from locals and Yelp ratings. First, this place does not offer authentic Thai dishes. I lived in Thailand for extensive periods over the past 10-years. What I saw is not authentic Thai food in terms of preparation and delivery. Second, three of us ordered Sushi. Sushi is not authentic Thai food. But we were happy to find it on the menu. Our view is if the entree is prepared correctly, the correlation between the type of restaurant and the quality of the eateryt shouldn't matter. Our rolls were delivered within 10 to 20 minutes from the time of order because they are prepared separately from other entrees. Every roll, without exception, was saturated with sauces to the point sauces were dripping off the serving platters onto the table. I spent about 45 minutes wiping up the table with napkins to ensure the sauces would not get on our clothes. More importantly, the foodstuff quality of the Sushi was, to the taste, not fresh when detectable and, almost aways obscured by the slathering of too much sugary sauce over each roll. All in all, it was an unpleasant experience. Three, two in our group ordered rice-based dishes with veggies or chicken. Again, these were not authentic Thai dishes. But both members of the group found them to be satisfactory. Four, service. Our server was attentive. The problem was with the chef. Apparently, per local sources with us who have eaten here before, the chef is not a multi-tasker and prepares each dish one-at-a-time. Our party featured a dinner experience where different members were eating at different times with the overall time for dinner extending well beyond an hour. In one case, a person received a Sushi roll within 10 minutes of order. Two other rolls came 10-minutes later. Around the 45 minute mark, two rice based dishes arrived. So we had a dinner experience were different people were eating at different times and we couldn't all enjoy dinner together. Frankly some of us find this manner of eating with a group to be unpleasant. The whole purpose of dining out with the group is to enjoy the group dining experience and the table based chat that goes along with it. To eat individually in front of others is rude for some among us. For Monticello this is probably the top shelf place to eat. But if you have experience anywhere else around in the US or around the world such as in Thailand, you'll likely find this to be a very subpar dining experience.

I'd say this is probably the best restaurant in Monticello, but I didn't get around much. On a…read moreSaturday night, the place was quite busy. Our waitress warned us that our entree would be an hour and it actually took an hour. No complaint for that! We had a bowl of edamame and the egg rolls to start. I was hoping that they'd come out sooner, but they ended up being a good 40 minutes. You'd think that starters would be quicker but that's how it works here. Be warned. The egg rolls were super hot and very tasty. The handmade tangy sauce with them was excellent. The edamame was a nice large portion and also very tasty. Main course time. I chose Pad Thai with Shrimp. Big portion. Great texture and flavor, though a bit more "kick" to it would have been nice. Still, I enjoyed it thoroughly. My daughter had something with chicken and vegetables and white rice, topped with a poached egg. Delicious and rich flavor. Yum! Dessert? You're kidding. Not after two huge entrees and two starters. Service was great.

My husband been here few times before and said this place is good so it is my turn to try out. This…read morerestaurant is Laos/Thai but lean more to Laos style since the owner is Laos. It was late and we just wanted some Asian foods the last minute so we ordered a lot. We got: - Calamari tempura: Crispy, but a little too chewy and batter to somehow taste like onion. But still good with the spicy mayo. - Spicy Tuna: got as accommodation and surprisingly the best of the night. The perfect combination, crispy fried wonton, spicy tuna, avocado and sliced onion. So gooood. - Tom Kha: I usually would order Tom Yum but that night I was craving something creamy, so I got Tom Kha with seafoods. They loaded that thing up with a lot of meats. Wr did ordered Thai Spicy level but it is basically just level 1 to us, we didn't send back because it was late and we don't want to bother them. If you could it spicy go ahead and try Thai spicy level. - Beef Panang: They again loaded that thing up with a lot of beef. Flavor and creamy. You also can try Thai hot with this one. - Spicy Kani Rolls: Come with 8 pieces (but my husband ate 2 lol). A decent sushi rolls, good that we tried. Everything was good, the owner and staff were super nice and friendly. They also have a lot more of different varieties, definitely comeback and try more.

I also wanted to try the mango with sticky rice, but they did not have it available. It is likely a seasonal item. However, I will not be returning to this restaurant. When I arrived to pick up my food, I discovered they add a mandatory 15% automatic gratuity to all takeout orders. This unexpected fee was not made clear upfront. While the food is decent, forcing a tip on a carryout order without prior warning is a policy I cannot support.
