Although this restaurant in downtown wasn't rated too highly on Yelp, it still drew me in with customer's rave reviews of the grilled chicken sandwich. It is located right across the street from Laredo Grill. As with several restaurants in town, they appear to serve a mix of American food and Mexican food. One of the more interesting tid bits about this place is the fact that you must walk up a rickety spirl staircase at the rear to go to the restrooms. I actually ended up ordering a ribeye steak instead of a sandwich since the prices of the steaks were what really tempted me. It comes with a side salad, which is a decent size and a side. I chose loaded baked potato. The steak was a choice grade chunk of meat. It was cooked to my liking, medium rare. At times, I thought the chef was a little heavy on the salt, but it was still a tasty steak. The plate comes with a side of griled veggies also. The potato was decent and came with real crispy bacon bits. The dinner rolls come out separately and hot from the oven. They're not homemade, but they are really tasty and best to eat hot with butter. Would be even better with honey. read more

We are here a couple days ago, the southwest egg rolls were yummy and the dipping sauce amazing. Our entree's were the burrito and the grilled chicken, loved the white cheese sauce on the burrito and the bacon on the chicken Sammy was mouth watering. This was our first time here. My wife, Debbie and I had our Granddaughter, Savanna with us. Savanna had a hamburger and fries, Debbie ate the taco salad and I got the chicken quesadilla. All of our food was decent. I ate half of Savanna's hamburger and it tasted like fresh, not frozen beef. It actually filled the whole bun. Our waitress, Jordan was very friendly and did something unusual, she brought each dish to the table as they were cooked. Consequently nobody had cold food. This place has a calm atmosphere, friendly staff and good food. We've had minor issues here which were quickly fixed without issue. I personally love the grilled fish. It's kid friendly and family friendly. The location is easy to miss but it's right off E Main St across from the main court house. It's also close to a bar which I haven't went to. I brought a coworker here to thank him for his hard work on one of my projects. He got a steak and I got Mexican. The fare here is primarily Mexican; it's a "higher end" Mexican, if you will. He enjoyed his steak, but the Mexican dish I got (I can't recall exactly what I ordered) wasn't exactly to my tastes. The food was moderately priced, but more than what you'd pay at a standard Mexican restaurant. To be clear, it wasn't that there was anything wrong with the food, I suppose that I just prefer standard Mexican. We arrived at lunch time, and although they were fairly busy (about 2/3 of the restaurant was full, the service was slow. We waited a pretty long time for the server to take our order and bring our food. I had fajitas and Shiner Bock beer. They brought chips and salsa to the table. Delicious. I needed substitutions and they were great about it. Added jalapeños, removed cheese, sour cream, beans, and rice. They added fresh jalapeños. Such a great addition to the dish and I got a side of guacamole. Yum. The tortillas were delicious thin and perfect. I ate two set ups in tortillas then tossed the fajita meat and veggies with the lettuce and tomato and topped with the guacamole and salsa. I have traveled to El Dorado (El Dor-AY-Dohh) quite a bit on business over the past two years, spending anywhere from 2 nights to a week here. I've been to Black Cat probably 20 times now? They are consistent. I would eat here hands down if it was back in Plano (Dallas) where I live. They have an excellent selection, which ensures everyone can find something they like, without having to big of a menu (which can lead to a restaurant being thoroughly mediocre because they can't focus). Their queso blanco is homemade and delectable. Sometimes I get a tub of it and their salsa to take back home with me. The service has also been pretty consistent after my first slightly gruff visit. The same guy has been here every time, and he clearly cares about this place. They have a bar downstairs, did you know? A VERY cute little basement bar, reached through a door around the corner. They will deliver food from the kitchen to you down there. The lady bartender I've had every time there has been friendly and poor good, strong drinks. Only left one star because I could not leave 0. The food was terrible, taco salad, was soggy and inedible, ordered chicken fajitas ONLY chicken. It came out it was drowned in cheese, then then the server wanted to argue about what we ordered. I have waited tables for well over 8 years, and I usually leave 20% tip.
