Pretzel bites
Jeanne D.

Came here at the recommendation of the local hotel clerk and hubby wanted wings. Not sure if I can give one star after an unusual experience here. A very pleasant waiter took our orders after a long delay of reviewing menus given to us by the hostess. Looking over the menu I wanted a salad, and hubby ordered ten wings - naked- because their regular wings are breaded, and the pretzel bites shown on the happy hour menu. Unfortunately a few moments later our waiter informed me that they "were completely out of salads because their truck was coming in tomorrow." Who runs a food business and runs out of all salads? Second choice - street tacos with nachos and salsa. The wings were delivered - and proved to be the driest wings we have ever been served. We were told by the assistant manager it was because they had no sauce or breading - really? I received the tacos, which were spicy, and nacho chips that were good. Pretzel bites were warm and came with sweet mustard and cheese sauces for dipping. My husband had another draft Yuengling, and I asked for an unsweetened iced tea refill. Our waiter told me he needed to make a fresh batch so it would take a few more minutes. No problem, I'll take it in a to go cup. Well, it did turn out to be a problem - he couldn't get the tea maker to work. So no refills. This visit was the first and last one for hubby - he won't ever return. Which means neither will I. He said he hoped other locations weren't run as poorly as this one.

Pathetic. Every time we order it's way past ready time, food is cold, they leave something out of the order (we have to go back), or something is wrong. Got a Buffalo salad tonight and threw most of it away it was so crappy. Won't order anymore salads from here again. No sauce on any wings. I keep trying to give them chances but it's pointless.

Many open tables and we are seated right next to the restrooms.

This has to be one of the worst restaurants in Smithfield. We showed up around 5 on a Friday after a long day of traveling. 75% of the tables were empty and the hostess said it would be an hour wait. Ok, probably staffing. When we do get seated, they seat us right next to the bathroom. Ugh. Again so many empty tables and that is where we are seated. Service is beyond slow. One of the servers encouraged us to order off the app after scanning the thing on the table. He even said we could pay that way. Then there was a female waitress who came right over after he told us this and asked to take our order. We ordered the trio chips thing. She forgot to bring it. So it came out after our meal. She forgot my husband's drink. Slow service means after we were done eating, we elected to pay on the scan thing. I confirmed our order, still left a 20%+ tip, and we made our way out. The waitress saw us when we got to the door and threw up her arms and started panicking like we didn't pay the bill. She had plenty of time to check and make sure we were paid and it was a way for us to pay via the app. Before acting so unprofessional, she should have checked either with us or her system before jumping to worst case scenario. The food was ok. The service was just nightmarish. I say that with a grain of salt as I know their jobs cannot be fun and hard work-especially in a short staffing situation.

Not onion rings!

So I wanted to give a 5. I am passing through and needed food. I ordered a pick up of 2 hamburgers and onion rings. What I got is two hamburgers thrown together and fries. There was no napkins, ketchup or silverware. I called and spoke with Melissa the manager and she promised to give me a credit. Let's see if that happens.

Buffalo chicken sandwich

I went with co-workers for an evening meal after a meeting. The place was reasonably busy, but we were quickly greeted and seated. Co-workers ordered wings and I ordered the Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwich. Food brought to the table with a minimum wait. My sandwich was prepared as requested. It was a large sandwich with a good flavor but was a little difficult to eat without making a mess. The server was efficient but talked way too much about her life and how she would probably spend her day off.

McKinley's is a Clayton anchor! Tucked into the heart of town, this old-school sports bar feels…read morelike it's been here forever--in the best way possible. Every wall is lined with TVs playing whatever game matters most that night, while dollar bills cover the walls like a scrapbook of good times, tall tales, and nights that ran a little longer than planned. The décor nods proudly (and somewhat creatively) to Irish heritage, with touches of green, classic signs, and a love of good beer doing most of the storytelling. It's a place where locals gather, strangers become regulars fast, and the atmosphere is equal parts loud cheers, friendly debate, and comfortable familiarity. Unpolished, well-worn, and full of character, it's the kind of small-town sports bar where the drinks are cold, the TVs are always on, and everyone feels right at home. The menu leans into its claims of Irish roots with a lineup of familiar pub classics--hearty, comforting dishes that feel right at home alongside a pint. But as solid as those classics may be, the real standout is the good old pub burger. Cooked exactly the way you ask for it--perfectly rare, juicy, and full of flavor--it's the kind of burger that reminds you why simplicity done right always wins. Served up hot and fresh by a friendly face that treats you like a regular, it's not just a meal, it's part of the experience: honest food, genuine hospitality, and a plate that keeps people coming back. Cheers!

I was surprised when it came, because I was not expecting a chunk of brisket that thick! The portions are good!!! It's a dark restaurant, not well lit, but I honestly don't mind that kind of vibe. Made it more chill. The service was not the fastest, but it didn't ruin the dinner at all. If I'm ever back in the area, I would come back to this spot.

It is not fancy, but once you try something it is different. This is American Cooking but with a style that is special. See what awaits. When we went in I had worked up at the Rocky Point Markets for furniture both in the spring and the fall of each year. It was always filled with folks from everywhere to shop, and see and buy for the next season. There were plenty of places to have lunch. But when dinner came it was special. The local style of cooking was different. It might have the same meal as you would find in another region, but here it was different as it is based on the cook / chef. Tonight we stopped in and the person helping us was very special. She told us of what was available and what was not. She gave the details and let us order. First we had to have an Arnold Palmer. Naturally, it was different than the person down the block. This was not sweet as usually. It was an equal mike and perfect to have. It gave us something to think about. First up was the Mac & Cheese. But unlike normal Mac & Cheese, with this we ordered shrimp. Not what you expect, this was unique. The Mac & Cheese was a combination of fresh pasta and mixed with four different types of cheese. It was mixed together with a cream and butter. It was not a firm mix but a mix that was moist and tasty with each bit you took. That alone was a meal unto itself. Being mixed with shrimp was different. The shrimp where not small. They were a good size. And there was almost a dozen mixed in. They were not placed onto. Being mixed in they aded to the flavor and taste. There was no spices. Just fresh shrimp with pasta and a cheese mix. A dip of bread helped to take it all in. Next we did have Baby Back Ribs. These were very fresh and tasty. Cooked to the right point hthey literally fell off the bone itself with the touch of a fork. The taste was slightly mixed with honey. Sweet but spicy. Naturally had to have some home made coleslaw with this. Plus an order of sweet potato fries. And these were fresh. Alone with a drink these would have been a good snack to have together. I could have had another plate of these alone. The two dishes were perfect. Yet, we did need to have dessert when the couple at the next table ordered it and shared it. This was Bread Pudding, topped with vanilla ice cream and served with Bourbon sauce. This was heaven itself. You did not need more. There people could have shared this one item. Again, it was freshly made and warm. Ideal. The ice cream was made that morning. And, as for the bourbon, you could have had a glass of this. Spread over the bread pudding it was how we sometime drink an Irish Coffee. Had to have that taste with each bite. Overall, this was a special place to for a meal. It was truly unique for the region and for the chef. The team was a great help. The price was great. As for the people who were there, it was packed. Many came from the places where they are creating the new furniture and items that will be on display for the next market in Rocky Point for next spring. They knew where the place is and what to order. It is truly the right spot for a good meal. It is worth the visit next time I am in town.
