I had never been here before, even though I grew up in the area. We were in the neighborhood so we decided to stop in. I ordered a pear cider, which was delicious and cold and tasted fantastic on a 95 degree day. So much so, I had two! Hubby had a pink lemonade and our son had a root beer. For our entrees I ordered the bleu cheese olive burger, hubby had the cowboy burger and chicken strips for our little dude. My burger was cooked perfectly, no pink and not over-done. The bleu cheese seemed to be dressing topped with crumbles, then the olives, which was delicious. My only beef was that the bun was a day past it's prime, sadly. With the right bun, that burger could been outta this world. My son's chicken strips were a little over-done, but edible. Hubby liked his burger, but didn't say much. The fries were seasoned well and tasty and service was good. Also, no free refills on soda, so that and the dry bun account for my one star deduction, but we'll be back. read more

This is a really good bar and restaurant. It has a very prominent sign so you may have driven past it on your way to Duluth. It is worth a stop. They have gigantic steins of beer! The beer inside them is nothing special... just the regular macros & maybe a Leinenkugel on tap. What brings me back is the sweet potato fries! read more

Awesome service topped with great food. Serves real, genuine buffalo meat that comes from the buffalo farm a few miles away. Has a bar, upstairs room, and separate 'Buffalo Jct' which doubles as a nice venue for a party. I always get the BLT on the homemade white bread with fries. It's a little out of the way, but a cool spot to dine. Right off of I-35 so it's easy to find. The location is great with a sports complex, full bar, campground, and banquet area. Food was better than expected. Much better than your normal bar/grill food. The buffalo burgers don't disappoint and the sweet potato fries are fantastic. When you think of burgers in the area, you think of Anchor Bar or Gronk's. The Buffalo House should also be in that discussion, and could stand up with either one of them. Recommended for fans of burgers, beers, and Ted Nugent hunting videos. read more

Good food, good service. It was packed so it was pretty slow, but good company made me hardly realize that. This is a very noisy restaurant, so just be ready for that--not great for conversation. At my table we had 2 walleye dinners which were very good, a half rack of ribs (really meaty and some of the best my mom had ever had), and a children's grilled cheese meal (on this one they say thick bread and they're not kidding! This kid's meal was way carb heavy as it was grilled cheese and fries....but I'm the one who let my kid get it, but really no great options, health wise). I had the Cajun spiced walleye with baby reds and a salad. The potatoes were red but definitely not "baby." My mom also got them and hers weren't cooked as crispy (and good) as mine. The walleye was good but not spiced much for being "Cajun." My husband had the fried walleye and he enjoyed it. Big portions of walleye for the $20 meal, the salads with our meals were pretty sad, mostly iceberg with a few tomatoes, carrots, and cucumbers. For an app we had fried pepper jack curds and as one could guess--nothing not to love about them! I'm a vegetarian and those options aren't many here, so I won't be running back to this restaurant, but it's a fun destination and overall my table liked our food. read more

Buffalo House - American Near Me - Duluth, Minnesota

Get the bison burger, waffle fries and a tap beer and you can't go wrong! Also a great place for softball games, camping, access to the Munger Trail, and to have a reunion/party. Just outside of Duluth on I35. Look for the buffalo statue. Worth a stop! A local favorite especially for those from the West side of town! :-) read more

I live right on the Munger bike trail in west end. On one of the trips, with a good friend of mine, we stopped off at the Buffalo House on the way home. Best choice of the summer. We biked through a few campsites and past a softball field to arrive at the restaurant. The first thing we notice is a very large deck with plenty of seating. That day we preferred the air conditioning (thank god). We sat in the bar, but they also have a banquet room, and possibly other seating. After ordering beers, we delved into the menu. There was so many options I just couldn't pick. I asked our server what the signature burger was. He said that their signature was no burger, but a massive french dip called "The Doc Holiday". I happily accepted his suggestion. My options for meat were beef, prime rib, or buffalo. Buffalo is good, but prime rib? How can you turn that down? I ordered the Doc with a side of waffle fries. The food came out quick and the portions were epic. The meat was unbelievably tender, the swiss melted over the mushrooms and onions, and the bread was toasty perfection. This great sandwich was almost dwarfed by the mountain of waffle fries. Seeing as I had to bike home after, I knew I wasn't going to be able to finish. Unfortunately, I had no real way of carrying it home with me. This was fine with me, as the food was so good that I couldn't even see myself getting full. Well, full came quicker than expected, and the bike ride home was a painful trek. But it was a good pain, because now I knew that affordable and delicious comfort food was only a short bike ride away. read more

We stayed here at the end of October and experienced excellent hospitality. The campground is lovely with very adequate amenities. Showers were hot and the restaurant within walking distance is a great atmosphere with a good menu. The camp manager Darryl was extremely helpful and took good care of us. He had extensive knowledge of the area and provided us with maps of hiking trails and pointed us in the direction of historical tours. He was so friendly and kind to us and our two big dogs. Duluth is amazing! Unfortunately, we came here just after the weekend of their big Halloween event where they are known for their Haunted Shack http://www.hauntedshack.com/home.html Minnesota's scariest haunted house, which includes a hay ride for the kiddos, and other great events for the entire family. There is a lot to see and do here in Duluth and this campground is a great place to base camp. If you plan to come here in the summer months you'll want to be sure to book in advance. read more

Great place for families and large groups! Casual and lively atmosphere. We ordered two appetizers and two entrees for two people, and we took almost all of our entrees home. The smoked salmon Caesar salad they had on special was delicious! My husband said his favorite part was their bread (seems homemade)! Check it out- it's a little off the freeway and out of town from Duluth, but a solid place to eat! read more

Nice campgrounds. We tent camped & the campsites were clean & spacious. They have a restaurant & bar too. It's like a little community here. The showers & bathrooms were very clean as well. A very nice stay on our drive thru Duluth. read more

I cannot believe how loud it was in there. Our ears were ringing when we left. The service was good, but food took awhile. Food was good. Nothing special, but not bad. The loudness really ruined it for us. We are in our 30's with children so we get loud, but this was a whole new level. It was so bad that by the time we got our food we just asked for it to go because we couldn't even hear anyone at our table. Never been in a restaurant that was like that. Probably won't go back because of it. read more

We made (and paid for) two nights of camping here but due to car trouble, were unable to make it the first night. Since we had paid for the site (and the cancellation policy is no refund within 7 days of arrival) there shouldn't have been a problem. But, at 11:30PM on Friday night, we were awakened by a phone call from the campground where a very aggressive, angry and rude woman demanded to know why we hadn't checked in yet. She said that they were "waiting for us" and she was mad that we hadn't shown up. In all our years of camping, I have never had a campground owner/host call me up late at night and chew me out! It was so weird and so rude! The woman then demanded to know if we would check in the following night. When I said I didn't know yet, she hung up on me! Needless to say, we did not camp at Buffalo Valley Campground the next night (even though we paid for two nights) and would not recommend this campground to anyone. read more
