Once you're finally inside, the staff is super nice and efficient (it helps having only a few things on the menu), and the salad is very refreshing after waiting so long to eat. The house red wine is very good, too. The steak comes rare, medium, or well done. If you usually go for medium-rare like I do, I recommend going rare. It was perfectly pink on the inside but still had a good bite. The steak is excellent, and the sauce is to die for. And the French fries? Out of this world. It may seem a little gimmicky that they refill your plate, but you'll be so happy with how good the food is, it doesn't matter. I used the fries to scrape the plate clean. I was sadly too stuffed to try the dessert, but it looked fantastic. Definitely recommend getting to the restaurant before they open and waiting out the line -- the steak and fries are more than worth it!

I am changing my mind by 2 stars. Its a gimmick but I enjoyed it. Sitting outside in Paris with a thin little piece of steak with a very nice sauce with some french fries soaking up all of the (everything) is not a bad way to spend a night. Oui?

I've referred multiple people here and everyone loved the experience. This was my third, but certainly not final visit to the legendary Robert et Louise. I'm now rocking their merch. You know what it is, gang-gang. Cuisine: 5/5. Fromage? Steak? Whiskey. Wine. Dessert. All these basics are done exceptionally well, superb, you might say. Beverages: 5/5. Ask the staff for a pairing of whiskey or wine with your meal and enjoy the ride. Service/Ambiance: 5/5. Make a reservation. Yes, make a reservation. Sit at the bar or take whatever they have available if you happen to "drop in." Be cool. The legendary OG Anthony Bourdain dug this place, so don't be a demanding American. Buen provecho.

One couple even tried to reserve a table for later in the week, only to be told there were no openings at all. When I mentioned my surprise to the bartender, he smiled and explained that Anthony Bourdain had featured Robert et Louise on his show, which brought them international fame. I had no idea when I walked in--it was pure luck. Fame aside, it's easy to see why the restaurant remains so beloved: the food is simple, rustic, and outstanding. I started with escargot, followed by a perfectly cooked steak with roasted potatoes and a crisp green salad. The true test of a great restaurant is how well it executes the basics--and here, they were exceptional. Tip: make a reservation in advance. This place fills up fast for good reason.
