Been going here for years, some days I come in and I can't find a darn thing, but for the most part I have had great shopping experiences here. I have found some pretty unique items at times like my blouse that has elephants on it. Every time I wear it I get asked where it is from. During the summer I have found many adorable summer dresses with some cute necklaces to go with them. For spring I have found cute name brand Capri pants as well as name brand jeans. But my most prized purchases I would have to say would be my cheap name brand purses, Harley boots, frye boots, Ugg boots, Oakly sun glasses, and a very nice pair of Harley Davidson leather chaps! They were cheap here where they would be a small fortune at the HD store!! I have been wanting a pair of these so bad, and I was thinking I was going to have to get an off brand because of how expensive they are. I was so happy to have found the Harley brand here. When I'd like to refresh a portion of my wardrobe for a reasonable price, I block out two hours of my day and head to Buffalo Exchange. I have to dig through pretty much every single rack, but I do end up finding more than enough stuff to try on... though other reviewers apparently disagree, I think there's a good variety of items that could fit a variety of styles. I've lived in Eugene for 4 years and have been going to the store sporadically the entire time. The employees are so-so in customer service, no one has ever been super friendly or outgoing, and sometimes the dressing room station is completely unmanned and a line of shoppers will just stand there, waiting. And, yes, the pricing is a bit weird. I was checking out bags and a Mossimo (Target) brand one was going for something like $20... really?? Ended up finding a different one for $12. Also, I've sold there a couple times - I've been that jerk who dragged 3 garbage bags to a buyer and taken up an hour, and experienced that particular brand of "2 uncool" rejection so unique to Buffalo - and the buyers will inevitably tell me that items I have literally NEVER worn, that just sat neglected in my closet for a year after a regretful purchase, have "too much wear." That's some BS. Even items I bought there in the past don't make the cut. Yet, I'll be looking through the store and find things that are clearly missing buttons or sequins/other embellishments, or that have holes... or, worse, I won't find out about these things until I get home. The shoe shelves are probably the most blatant slap in the face, because many of the shoes CLEARLY have wear, like a noticeable amount of dirt or scuffs. Yet one thread sticks out in a shirt I bring in and they're too good for that. And once, the manager came by and told my buyer that she needed to un-purchase some things she'd agreed to purchase from me. Seems like bad business to call out your employees like that, and to go back on your word to the customer. But, the whole reason I'm writing this review is because of the jewelry. A couple times I've bought some pieces, only to go home and have it break or already be broken. One time, a necklace's clasp was pretty obviously no longer attached to the necklace, and just clipped onto another part of it. Another time, I went to wrap a bracelet around my wrist and clasp it, when the clasp (along with a bunch of dangly accessory things that were attached to the same loop as the clasp) fell off completely. What?? Why wouldn't anyone have caught this? There is certainly some discrepancy between the uber selective aura of the ladies at the buyers' table and what is actually sold in the store. One of the best Buffalo Exchanges around, and I am a big fan of the Buffalo. I have been to all the Portland locations, a few in California and Seattle, and I can safely say this one is as good if not better than plenty of the ones in major cities. A note about selling: shop there first. See what kinds of brands and styles they are selling. I have yet to make less than 50 dollars in trade from selling there, because I bring in clothing that I know they will take. That doesn't mean I am somehow drowning in mountains of expensive designer clothing, but I seem to have similar taste as those curating the inventory. I always hear people complain that they attempt to sell "bags and bags" of clothes and leave empty handed, and all I can say is they don't buy just any clothes, but tend to be pretty brand and style specific. So look and see what they have on the floor. Or don't. However if you pick the latter, don't be surprised if they aren't buying what you're selling, literally. Anyway, rant complete. Starting this off by saying that I have been a loyal Buffalo Exchange customer for years, and have been shopping at this location since my freshman year (I am now a senior). A few months ago, I had a negative experience that has scarred me and prevented me from returning. I came in to exchange my clothes (which I do at least every two months) and had an appointment already scheduled. The girl who was examining my items (the manager) would not let me leave the counter, and I was told it would not take long to sort through my stuff. Another employee came around and the manager began to train her in front of me- she pulled out my clothes one by one and made derogatory remarks regarding the quality and materials. As mentioned, she would not let me leave to wander the store and I had to stand here and listen to the mean things she said about my clothing( which is funny, because almost everything in this store is from SHEIN, anyways). Then, she took only 2 of my items and offered me a measly 15 dollar in store credit in exchange. From previous experience, I have always gotten AT LEAST 50 dollars for the stuff I bring in, and this experience made me leave the store in tears. I haven't been back since and I am not planning on it. This location has gone downhill in the past few years and they now only accept cheap, fast fashion clothes. If you want to give up your clothes, take them to Plato's Closet or donate them to people who will ACTUALLY appreciate and use them. read more

The clothes they sell fit the artsy vintage aesthetic and the accessories they sell are unique. Prices are good and helpful when you're trying to be fashionable on a budget. My first experience in a Buffalo Exchange was in San Francisco in the Haight. I spent quite a bit of my afternoon in that store, walking away with some super unique items. Fast forward to my second experience, Eugene and you'll find quite a different story and store. First, the girls who worked there, dressed awesomely and with great smiles, but the store lacked that uniqueness I felt before. Secondly, I looked through racks and racks of perfectly normal clothes, nothing wrong with any of them, just not my taste. And I mean I walked away with one belt after over an hour. Lastly, I found the prices a bit high. A used Vans t-shirt was $14; maybe a bit too much. I'm pretty sure one could find clothes to wear here, yet one may end up looking like the others. read more

The clothing is a lot cheaper compared to the Portland locations, and the selection has a lot less "fast fashion" brands as well. I've been going here for years. I've never been treated rudely and I'm far from trendy or fashionable. The ladies have always been sweet and helpful. I usually check out the jeans to get some good ones at a discount from retail stores. Some tanks and shirts too. Great place for shoes/ boots / sandals. Found some good scores here ( and in my size - 8 ) I do see some stuff that I question how it got in the store and the following week see it on a discount rack. Stuff is always clean or new. I have sold stuff and I've had stuff rejected and I think people get mad if they don't take everything but you have to understand they have to take a gamble it will sell, pay you out and make a profit - so yeah you're not going to get top dollar. That's just how it works. If you don't agree with the price -sell it on Craigslist or something. Plus you don't know the store's inventory! I really enjoy buffalo exchange as a thrift store when I'm looking for some high quality items. Buffalo only really takes the best stuff (which sometimes also means quirky things in Eugene) but I've had good luck here mostly. Usually, like any thrift store, it is very hit or miss. Last time I was in, it was a miss, but this time, totally a hit. I got 3 items (technically 4 items but I returned it bc I already had one I realized) that were really good quality, high brand for pretty cheap. My mom and I went here to try and get rid of my sisters clothes but one thing is for sure, they are PICKY!!! We brought it 3 bags of clothes and out of those 3 bags they maybe took 3 items of clothing which I thought was absurd. The clothes were in really good shape and some were even name brand but they didn't want any of it. I walked around the store while my mom was dealing with the lady and some of their clothes were nice but you can tell by the types of clothes that they are selling what kind of clothes they are looking for. So I guess the clothes we brought it were just not to their taste or liking. We ended up just giving them to Goodwill because they take everything and you don't have to hassle with them. In the end I guess it worked out for the better. Worst customer service. I had 6 dress shirts to possibly sell. Waited for 45 minutes. Then the buyer said these need to be selectively looked at and that it would take 20 to 30 minutes. So they sat on the window sill for another 90 minutes. 10 people have already come and gone at that time. I tried to get someone's attention but was told I had to wait. Finally I asked the girl has anyone looked at the shirts? She said they had to pass. I was livid. The manager tried to look at the shirts again, which made me even more pissed and still refuses them. Then I told her I'm never coming back. Then she follows me out of the store to apologize, which just made it even worse. Just say no to Buffalo Exchange! They are very picky with what they take. I took in a ton of Hollister and A&F clothing from my high school years...some with tags on them and never worn. They took only 2 shirts out of the 3 large bags i brought in. Gave me in-store credit for $15 and if i wanted to just get the cash $5. Of course i take the in-store credit and start looking around...what do i see on one of the racks? A worn out old mickey mouse shirt and right next to it a boys and girls club soccer shirt. Really? Not only did he find that score but every time he goes in he finds LEVI 34x34 for like $5 each. Which brand new would cost him over $50. I primarily go here once or twice a year to sell clothing and only shop when I have store credit lined up. They usually but about half of what I bring in, which I find fair, and I feel I get a decent amount of credit each time(except when they offered me twelve dollars for a two-hundred dollar steel-boned corset... really???). I like the girls who work there, and they are always fun to talk to. They've always been really helpful to me when I had questions or wanted to use the fitting room. It's kind of a mixed bag whether or not you will find anything good, depending on what they have and what time of year it is. It does seem to cater to the hipster/boho chic crowd mostly but I have found a few impressive punk or rockabilly items, like spiked anti-gravity Jeffery Campbells for 75 dollars! I can usually find one or two things I like and the stuff in their clearance rack is actually not terrible whenever I've perused it. I love their shoe section! This place is low end and not in price. The buyers seem to be attracted to items made from plastic. Don't go in expecting to sell or buy anything quality. This place is forever 21 all the way. No class. They cater to 30 under. Further, don't expect to find anything cute in larger sizes. I am not plus size (not at all) but it is blatantly obvious that there is an ageism and sizeism issue that is deeply baked into the business model and personal biases of the staff. I have tried to sell plus-size items to them (all brand new with tags) and they never buy them. I buy quality, high-end clothing/brands made from cotton, leather, silk, wool, bamboo, etc. (not rayon, polyester, etc) and have tried to sell to them (many items NWT). They never buy from me so I gladly take my items elsewhere (The Clotheshorse, places in Corvallis, and California) and they always buy from me. I do wonder why they need to check your i.d. in order to sell. No other place that I sell to requires this. Could it be to glance at your age, citizenship, where you live, or some other domain that informs their discriminatory practices? The staff should be ashamed of participating and/or lack of self-awareness. If you want to support a low-end, discriminatory business, then this is your place. I am personally boycotting. read more

Ive been there once...I might go back. I felt the items that were used were in poor condition. They seemed to have brought in a shipment of trendy new items that they were selling, which to me defeats the purpose of going to a resale store...If I wanted that I would go to forever21. I tried on almost 20 items and left with nothing. The clothes were either overly stylish or grandma level. Over half the items I took into the fitting room looked okay at first, then when I got them on in the brighter lights of the fitting room they were stained, ripped, broken zippers/fastners or pilled. I think that the pricing is a bit off, too high for non-designer labels, there was a target brand (mossimo) shirt for 22.00...really?? The staff was not really friendly, they were overly chatty with each other and not really helping anyone. The line was really long for bringing in items to sell, but in the hour I was there, I only watched two people purchase anything. Large dust bunnies in the fitting rooms, damaged clothing, gross shoes and items on the floor under racks was a big turnoff. I like resale stores, but I was just not impressed by this one. I found the clothing at this location to be very boring, ordinary, mediocre. I was really turned off by how the buyers almost never seemed to want anything weird & cool that I brought in - isn't weird and cool what Buffalo Exchange is supposed to be about? Do people who SHOP at BE in Eugene Oregon only like boring clothes? They seemed to mostly just load up on cheap knit shirts that didn't even have cool designs. If I wanted that kind of trashion, I would just shop at the Goodwill with my eyes closed. e.g. They didn't want to buy the rocking vintage-rose-color soft-textured lace button-up shirt with long frilly-cuffed sleeves and princess seams, they didn't want the soft, tight, ruby-red sweater with maribou trim, not the metallic gray faux-crocodile heels, etc.etc. blarg... but oh, you have an ACHROMATIC GRAY zip-up hoodie with cap sleeves & unattractively-designed RED strawberries on it from Forever 21? "Oooh how cute!" Dude, I'm ashamed of ever having bought the thing, I was just hoping to get rid of it - and that's the one thing they pick. Whatever, Buffalo of Eugene. I just don't see eye to eye with the people ultimately responsible for their inventory fashion-wise. Give me goth, give me lace, give me classically beautiful silhouettes, give me adventurous silhouettes, give me fetish, give me leather, give me glitter and gloss, give me unusual but comfortable fabrics, give me crazy notions, give me COOL silkscreened images, give me playful colorful funk - hell, give me cheap crappy knit tees too - just not 200 of them. The last few times I went there I found a couple of truly worthwhile items that have also stood the test of time - so it may be getting better.
