The team was not introduced to us by the owner before I agreed to have the work done. If I had met them beforehand, I would have thought twice about hiring them. Only one member of the team spoke English and he was surly and rude when I mentioned the mess they made on my walkway. He was short fused and easily angered and I would not want him back on my property again. They did do a good job sanding and staining my old hardwood floor however. But they were lacking in manners and generally accepted social behavior. read more

We used buff and coat to refinish our floors. The price was very reasonable, and the work was well done. However, the president was extremely rude to my husband when we came to him with concerns we had after the floors were completed. They spilt wood stain in our grass and on our driveway, and splashes of stain on our driveway and front porch. Due to them being very unprofessional when it comes to resolving customer concers, we will be giving them a 1 star rating. read more

My wife and I bought our first home this past year, and we decided to get the inside painted and the hardwood floors refinished before we moved in. We made sure to let Buff and Coat know that we had just gotten the inside of the house painted before they started their work on the floors. While the hardwood floors looked great after their work, we entered the house to find that the freshly painted trim was very damaged throughout the house--in 7 rooms to be exact. There were gouges in the woodwork, and the paint had been partially peeled off along almost every wall. We immediately contacted the owner, but they were unwilling to reimburse for the cost to repaint the trim. He offered to have one of his guys fix the issue, however, I declined as they are not painters, and I did not want another poor job to be done. To get the damage that they caused repaired it cost us another $800. As a result, we were not pleased with this company and cannot recommend others to use them. read more

If you are considering hiring this company, I definitely encourage you to look for another contractor. The company is led by someone that is short fused and rude. He goes into rants and rages if you raise any concerns or ask a question and does not hesitate to tell you off. The timeline promised was not met. What was supposed to be a three day max completion dragged out to be a one week project due to the project team giving me several last minute notifications that they wouldn't be showing up or had to leave early. It was as if I was expected to work my schedule around theirs which had a major impact on my plans and obligations. In addition, the owner did not tell me he was no longer doing the work until the night before the project started and he didn't even show up the first day to introduce the team to me. He said he can't be expected to be everywhere. The team showed up and hadn't been filled in on what I asked to be done that I had discussed in detail with the owner. The owner never showed his face during the project or check in with me via text or email to see how it was going. The only reason he came the last day was to get my check and complain about how he wasn't getting much work lately and his online presence was basically non-existent. We used Buff and Coat to sand, restain, and finish about 1500 sq ft of hardwood in our new home. They were great from start to finish! Not only were they the least expensive bid by far, we had constant communication from them and they went above and beyond. Matt was in charge of our project with Abner and both of them were so easy to work with. Matt kept us updated every step of the way, gave us multiple stain examples on the floors, and was so nice and easy to work with. Horrible! Asked for a quote with the plan of them starting on a certain date IF we were happy with the quote. We never confirmed any work to be started or agreed to anything. The day before they "assumed" they were to start he finally reached back out (3 weeks later!) I thanked him for the quote but said we weren't moving forward with any work. Luckily, I can share a picture of his text (see attached photo) because it would be unbelievable otherwise. His response..."fuck you stupid whore"! I'm appalled. Who acts like that? I wish I would have gone on my neighborhood app before using this service. After, expressing my recent disappointment in this service, I had neighbors who also had been swindled by this company. Dave, yes I could have been made happy just deliver the service as sold. If you say you will buff out scratches, restain the floor and polish for a price, no one wants to hear afterward that you can't restain the scratches and you gave me a low price so deal with it. I must say that I can't recommend Buff and Coat Virginia. We found them through one of the coupon mailers that often come to our neighborhood. We decided to use them after receiving other estimates from contractors because we believed hardwood floors were there specialty and we had a coupon. Extra bonus! We were told they would buff floor, polish and re-stain any scratches. The job was completed in an hour, maybe less ( we have a ring door bell) We returned to see noticeable scratches on the floor and ultimately it looked like a good mopping from our cleaning service, not a professional job from a specialty company. When I called the owner Dave, he immediately responded that we got what we paid for and that he gave us a low price. Sir if you have a coupon available, please do not get upset when it attracts people to your business and they use it. The entire time he was argumentative and accused us of wanting a free job. We never asked for a refund, we just wanted the work that when we were sold the job we were told, would be done. He did send one of his employees out to "fix" it later in the day. Dave's employees have more business and customer experience skills then he has it seems. They apologized and said they were not really given details of the job they were supposed to have done originally otherwise it would have been better... I guess if you receive a discounted rate with a coupon, you don't deserve quality work or customer experience? read more

DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS!! Buff and Coat, Glen Allen (hardwood floor refinishing) is the most unprofessional, pathetic business I've ever encountered. David, the owner, provided a quote, which I thought was reasonable for a job at my rental property. He texted me with a start date and I responded giving the approval and asked that he contact me closer to the date to provide an arrival time so I could meet him there. The morning of the job (6:30 a.m.) I REACHED OUT TO HIM, to get an estimated time of arrival. He called 4 minutes before his crew arrives to say they will be there at 8 a.m. I received his message 30 minutes later and called back to tell him I could meet them there since they'd left. He texts back with a string of nasty responses, which included calling me a nigger. Since he can only hurl insults and display what is truly the description of a "nigger" then I will put him on blast here and everywhere else that he deserves to be outed. Dave was terrific to work with - very forthright about his pricing and services. I contacted him about doing a buff and coat of my floors, both first and second floor. Dave explained the process and his concern that the buff and coat would not turn out the best on my first floor because of existing damage to the wood. He recommended a full refinishing on the first floor and a buff and coat of the second floor, where there was a lot less damage. I got 4 estimates for the job, and all other providers pushed me to do a full refinishing on both floors (at a much higher cost). Dave was right in his advice and saved me a lot of money - and my floors look terrific, up and down! His crew did a great job, I am pleased with the price and the result. read more
