Beautiful restairant tucked in corner of this small town in central Maine. Came here based on yelp reviews. Their salsa verde is out of this world!! Strong flavors of cilantro and garlic and smooth texture - almost reminded me of green indian chutney flavors. Ordered potato flautas not knowing what it is. Absolute bomb. Flavorful potato rolled in tortilla which were deep fried and then again loaded with cheese and lettuce tomatoes on top. Warning : any entree here is so generously portioned that you need two persons to finish it. I barely made it half way through. It was perfectly crispy outside but had rich potato filling. Similar to texture of samosa. Great service and they accommodated all request of fresh jalapeño to extra hot sauce. read more

Buen Apetito - Potato flautas !!! Out of this world salsa verde and guacamole. - Mexican Near Me - Waterville, Maine

Gem of a restaurant. The food is amazing and the portions are pretty big. The menu have a great variety and for vegetarian you won't feel left out. I'm a vegetarian and loved the options and the taste. The veg nacho Even when we ordered small it was good enough for the meal itself. The servers are very friendly as well. The drinks are really good. If you like it spicy, order fresh jalapeno with your dish- they are not the supermarket spicy, they are proper spicy. The jalapeno Margarita is one to order read more

Best Mexican food in Waterville! The margaritas are great too! The pitchers of margaritas are perfect!

I'm tired of disappointing restaurants! I ordered the Carne Asada...Skirt Steak. I was presented with Rib Eye. WTF! With that said, the house Margaritas rock! I'll stick to the simplest if I can count on that! read more

I went into this restaurant at 7:14 pm. We sat at the bar and waited to be served. After about 15 minutes the waitress Amber asked if we would like any drinks. More time goes by and I watch as she is talking to her friends standing at the counter about who was going the bar later that night. We finally receive drinks and continue to wait for menus. 30 minutes go by, no menus and no Amber. When we look down at the end of the bar there is Amber hanging out with 2 of her friends and ignoring the bar. I look over to my right and there is a waitress also waiting for a drink order. Her name was Jill and she is very nice. We mentioned we were waiting also and she went and got Amber. Amber came back with a bit of an attitude. Finally gave us our menus and asked if wanted anything like chips or another drink. We said yes, waited 20 minutes again and no drinks. We finally get our food and we she came back again to ask what we wanted , we canceled our drink order. Enough was enough. She asked if i wanted a box, 2 minutes into us eating. I said no and she proceeded to pick up our meals and didnt even ask. We were done at this point. 78 $ for that ? never again. It wasnt the restaurant, it was just the worse waitress i have ever dealt with. She have stayed with her friends . What a jerk ! read more

Such an odd little place, Buen Apetito. Looking for some Mexican food on a random Saturday afternoon, we stumbled upon this place, walking first into the movie theater next door before realizing the entrance was around the corner. The first thing that struck me was the chips and salsa already laid out on all the tables. My first thought: "Oh great, stale chips..." but after sitting down, I realized I had jumped the gun. The salsa options (one tomato based; one avocado based) and the chips were nice and crunchy. Perfecto! I ordered black beans and seasoned rice while my compatriot chose the chiles rellenos. I found the beans and rice combo to be simple and delicious and the seasoning was great! One thing to note, which is definitely by no means a fault (in fact, this could be fantastic when sharing dishes), is that the serving size for the meals is gigantic. The plate of chiles rellenos was massive and could have easily served 2 people comfortably. All told, this was a great little place that I'd be happy to patronize again! Drooling just thinking about those beans... :) read more

Excellent food, excellent service - great people! I highly reccomend you take the time to visit. Try the salsa, it is home made and THE BEST! read more

As a very long time customer, I feel I can say this. The taste of the food has gone downhill drastically. The last 3-4 times we've tried different things & all have been disappointing. I don't know what, if anything, has changed, i.e. cooks, owners, whatever. It's not the same deliciousness it was a couple years ago. We typically spend in the neighborhood of $100 every time the 2 of us go. Portions are smaller, prices are higher and the flavor is more bland. Please put it back the way it was! read more

Every time I have come here there has been a very long wait. You can make reservations, but only if you have five or more people in your party. Personally, I think groups of four should be able to make reservations, but that's just my opinion. Their cilantro lime sauce is delicious and unique, served up with homemade salsa and complimentary tortilla chips. The atmosphere is warm and colorful and inviting. Not too loud even though the place was packed. We also had rather attentive service despite how busy it was. Everyone was pleased with their food. Even the beans and rice on the side were quite good. I ordered a combo plate with a taco, an enchilada and an entomatada to see what the difference was between the latter two. I still don't know. They seemed exactly the same to me, aside from the different meats I had chosen. Of the two, the beef (slow-cooked, I'm sure) was far superior to the chicken. When my friend asked for a box for the remaining half of her huge burrito, I was disappointed to see that they use styrofoam for leftovers. I thought they were classier than that. I'd still go back and eat their delicious food... I'll just make sure not to order more than I can handle! read more

Always amazing!!! Best Mexican food, good service, great drinks. I wish they were open longer houra

I really like this place! The food is great, decor is fun, nice staff. If you want Mexican food in the Waterville area, come here and not the other Mexican restaurant in town. I can practically fill up on the chips and their homemade salsas before the meal even arrives. Which brings me to my only complaint: thankfully they offer chips and salsa first, because sometimes it can take awhile before your meal arrives. I suppose it's worth it for fresh yummy food. read more

Craving some quality Mexican grub along our road trip from Ohio to Millinocket, we decided to veer of track a few miles to try this place based on the good reviews. Arriving at 4pm, the place was way busier than expected (a good sign) but we were seated right away. Both service and the food were great. They have a good beer selection and the margaritas looked great, although we didn't try 'em out. The complimentary chips n salsa were great (both red and green salsa). I had the potato flautas (delicious and more than I could eat) and my two friends had the chicken quesadilla (the cheese sauce inside was so good!) and the veggie quesadillas (they resembled tacos to me, but she said they were good). The accompaniments (beans, rice, lettuce, tomato, cilantro and guacamole) were fresh and tasty. I'd highly recommend for some fresh and tasty Mexican food! read more

Love this place! As soon as you sit down there is homemade salsa and cilantro lime sauce with chips. Margaritas priced right and taste delicious. I get burrito grande and its the size of a small child. The wife normally gets the quesadilla or tacos. Good little date night restaurant. read more

It's 5:15 and we're all a little bit hungry. We've been running around all day, toting people to Sunday River so that they can ride their bikes to Belfast for the trek across Maine and we're now starving, so we decide to grab an early dinner. We arrive at Buen Appetito at about 5:30 and the line is out the door! Ha ha, that isn't saying much, there is only a small waiting area inside the door, but still its 5:30 and all the tables are full! I guess I'm in Maine, I shouldn't be too surprised. Anyways, the service is exactly what I want - there when I need them, gone when I don't. The food is great; the chips and salsa were perfect to wet my appetite before . Its not extravagant, its pretty simple, actually. I got the beef chimichanga and it was very filling - enough for two people really. Its one of the most consistently good restaurants in the greater waterville area. read more

This resto is attached to what appears to be an indie-type movie theater. The space is small and looks nice. I was looking for a vegetarian burrito, but it wasn't on the menu, so I payed the extra for a meat burrito, but without the meat (a vegetarian pet-peeve). They also use lard in their refried beans, so have them swap them out for their black beans, which are pretty good (a touch on the salty side, but good nonetheless). They only have Cuervo Gold as an option for tequila and their margaritas are over $10 FOR A WELL MARGARITA IN EAST B.F.E MAINE!!!! (Just looked at their website and it says its $6.50, so it looks like I was charged more which is disappointing). Margarita melt-down aside, the food was good and I'd probably go back, but I'll be a bit more vigilant with the prices. Grrr. read more

Still my favorite restaurant of all time! The food is good and the staff is friendly and thoughtful. The dips included with the complimentary chips are yummy. I love the mini chimichanga combo! Margaritas are well balanced and fair priced vs other local Mexican/Tex-Mex establishments. Service is prompt. read more

Buen Apetito - Mini chimi's - Mexican Near Me - Waterville, Maine

If I checked in and wrote a review every time I'm here I'd be the duke of dukes duke! So consistently good. I bounce between the combo plate and burrito grande with green verde sauce. The chips are cooked in house always fresh and warm and served with house made salsas as good as you would get anywhere. A must stop if your in Central Maine. However be prepared to wait because even on a week day between 5-7 you'll wait 30-60 mins on average buts it's ok, grab a seat it's worth it. read more

This is a very cute 12 table restaurant in Waterville, Maine. The front of the restaurant is a bit disorganized. It took a couple of minutes for the hostess to appear. Once we were seated, things smoothed out somewhat. We were served tortilla chips with some excellent salsas. Wine by the glass was very good. There was a good IPA on tap. The food was good. We all ordered some variation of fajitas. Two of us had chicken and I had mixed fajitas, with steak, chorizo, chicken and shrimp. The portions were enormous. They were different than most fajitas in that the meat was served with melted cheese on top and there was no sour cream, guacamole or pico de gallo. The portions were gigantic. We received 3 tortillas each, which covered about 20% of what we were served. The fajitas were accompanied by beans and surprisingly al dente rice. The restaurant ran out of the IPA that was on tap and salsa verde- sort of surprising. Overall a nice casual restaurant with a few mis-steps. I would go back. read more

The margaritas at this place are powerful! The food remains spot on. This is an excellent Mexican joint for its geography.

If you're vegetarian/vegan or have allergies, stay away from this place. They make no effort to keep foods separate in the kitchen. You will find chicken gets into absolutely anything, including the supposedly vegetarian dishes. Not even the beans and rice are safe; I discovered they were cooked with chicken during a recent visit. This made me sick. I was a customer here for years but I will never eat here again. read more

I love this place! I drive by Waterville several times a year when I visit my grandparents, and I love to stop by with my family. The chips and salsa are perfect and my favorite dish is the potato flautas, which are absolutely delicious. My only complaint about the restaurant is that it can be cold inside, so I would definitely recommend bringing in an extra sweater. read more

This is my go to restaurant in Waterville. Great Mexican with my favorites being the Mango Chicken, Brisket Burrito, & Veggie Fajitas.

The absolute best Mexican food in the area! Margaritas are a must Have! Homemade salsa is so yummy! The staff is super friendly and attentive!! I highly recommend dining here. If there is a wait.... it's worth it!. read more

I eat lunch here at least once every time I am in Waterville. Really tasty Mexican food, friendly staff, and good service. Their homemade maine hot sauces are very good, Bought a few bottles to take home. That is worth a stop. For the Mexican foodie... The chip are not home made. Their red salsa is not hot and not chunky. Their creamy green sauce is very special and taste. Their menu is taste and good. I will be back. read more

We drive all the way from Belfast just to eat here. It might be the best authentic Mexican food in New England. Service is also top. Nothing not to like but the length of the drive. Cheers and thank you, Dahlia. read more

We went at 6:30 on Fri and had to wait a while to get seated but I was told it's best to go earlier so we will do that next time. This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've eaten at on the East Coast though! Usually the rice and beans are left on the plate but the rice here is so delicious! I had the chimichangas and they were very good! Guacamole was fresh and yummy. Even my two-year-old ate all of her dinner!! Very friendly quick service as well! read more

Personally I have tried the place several times and have always walked away dissatisfied.

This is our favorite restaurant in Waterville. The food is consistently excellent, great fajitas and Chile Rellenos. The bar is very good with great margaritas either regular or hand shaken. There is a reason that there is always a long waiting line most nights. read more

I'm not a huge fan of the food here, but the cocktails and the green salsa they serve with the chips make me happy enough to give 4 stars. I have been with many friends who love the food, so I think it's just me, so I still go and have a margarita and am happy. The bar tenders are nice and the atmosphere is good. read more

Okay, so I have to qualify "as good as it gets" -- I'm a recent transplant from Tucson, Arizona, so my ratings for Mexican cuisine will be skewed -- BUT considering that we are in Maine, this place is as good as it gets. I tend to order vegetarian dishes -- and have found that the fajitas, enchiladas, and chile rellenos are all great. Even tho the wait can sometimes take awhile, I appreciate how kind and helpful the wait staff are (accommodating special requests; making margaritas less sweet; and finding specific salsas/hot sauces). The green cilantro salsa and chipotle salsas are phenomenal, and the hot sauces (for sale) are excellent. In fact, we're ordering a selection of Jalisco Hot Blueberry salsa for our friends back home (no, it's not blueberry-like in a gross sort of way; it's perfect). Thank you, Buen Apetito for making the transition to Maine that much easier. read more

This restaurant is simply amazing. Great indoor/outdoor space, fresh food, and attentive service. Easily beats any Mexican restaurant in the greater Portland area. This is a must try for anyone in Maine. Not to mention, the margarita's were spot on and made from scratch. Even better: you don't need to order 3 of them to realize they are made with alcohol. I would gladly drive well out of my way to experience this restaurant again. read more

Hands down the best Mexican in town. Really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Fajitas rock, the chinos rock, the nachos rock, and the margaritas rock. read more

Me and my girlfriend did our weekly dinner date here. She has never been but I have been taking my mother here for her birthday for years. Food is amazing and authentic and the prices are perfect, especially when you see the size of the meals. But, we had a skinny blonde server who I'm going to say was probably one of the worst servers I have ever had ( we still left 15%). Four groups of people who came in after us were all served at least 20 minutes before we even got our drinks. One of the groups was her boyfriend and his friend who brought their own drinks with them in a paper bag, sitting right next to us. They came in 10 minutes after us and had appatizers done and we're starting on their meals when we were just getting drinks. So a half hour dinner for everyone else was almost 2 hours for just us two. Then our waitress asks us if we would like some more salsa, guac., or sour cream? Yes please, thank you, I said. Yeah, she never brought any of that to us so we just asked for some boxes which took about 15 minutes then another 20 waiting for the tab. Super disappointed with the service seeing as they have always been soo great in that area. But still probably the best tasting, fairly priced food in the Ville! read more

I had heard that this place had authentic Mexican food, but I've had "authentic" Mexican food before, haha. I didn't know what to expect; however, this food was actually quite surprising. I had chicken fajitas, and everything was made fresh. The amount of spice I asked for was perfect, and the amount of food served was unbelievable--I had to bring some home. Oh, and the tortilla chips served while you wait for your meal are terrific. The salsas that they give you are SO good. read more

I came here for the first time today, and it was to die for! I ordered a frozen strawberry margarita, and to my surprise, I could taste the alcohol, it wasn't completely watered down. Then we had the pulled pork chimi, and the quesadillas... Everything was piping hot and delicious. Definitely a must try! read more

Best Mexican food! The pulled pork burrito is a can't miss. The staff are friendly and the margaritas are perfect.

I am so disappointed with the Bartender last night. The restaurant was busy big dinner crowd. We were told 30 minute wait for a table, no big deal the food is worth it. Stood at the bar and waited to order some drinks for our group. The bartender asked what can I get for you: 2 margaritas, Jack and a beer. Her response, I don't have time for that I am dealing with take out orders. Mind you the tone in her voice and body language indicated she was pissed about what I ordered. Needless to say we walked out. I get that people can get stressed but seriously you were our first impression of the restaurant last night and you lost 4 customers because of a crappy attitude. We ended up having a great meal at Silver St and the staff all had great attitudes and treated us all with respect, 20% tip for them. read more
