Since my last review got deleted I'm gonna review again. Last time I called this business, Gary very rudely insulted my car and called it garbage. I very politely called and asked how much a transmission flush for a Nissan Murano was. (I no longer own it) and he said that the transmission was garbage and he was very rude about it. I'm glad I NEVER went here to get my car worked on. I did not appreciate his demeanor at all. I also heard Gary was bribing customers to leave a 5 star review, might wanna look into that. On 9/9/25 I sought a diagnosis of my vehicle's transmission with Gary (Budget Transmission manager, on Gibraltar Way, Centennial, CO). Set it up, waited in my vehicle patiently, and when technician came over 1. he wouldn't get closer than 20 feet to talk with me after politely, repeatedly asking him to so do (could not hear him clearly enough), 2. I asked him If I could ride along with him for his test drive, said no, stated, "Would you allow any body to watch you work?," and then before I could get a syllable out says, "You can take it somewhere else," and walks off. I'm dumbfounded. I go to the office to straighten it out and the moment I get in Gary says, "Get out." and it only physically escalates from there via Gary's utter refusal to hear a word I have to say. (Was happy for the technician to take it solo. but could never get that out to either of them visa vis their outrageous way they treated me before I could say a thing. (Just for context: No other shop in my 70 years has ever said I couldn't ride along.)) Good chances Gary is going to bald-facedly lie through his teeth defending his indefensible actions here, but I have no reason to make this up. In fact I only went to this shop because a couple years prior I had talked to Gary on the phone and he seemed like a decent, knowledgeable fella so I had nothing but good will and trust with him until this happened. They might be excellent at what they do, I have no idea, but psychologically they are unhinged, to put it mildly, and if anything goes wrong with their work on your vehicle, etc., I wish to save everyone before-hand the nightmare of having to deal with these two in the first place. Thus, avoid this particular shop like the plague. Sincerely, a previously otherwise "potential life long customer' of this facility. Gary is very rude and condescending to start off. I called and asked him a simple question about a Murano I use to have, and he was rude automatically. I'm so glad I never took my car there and wasted my time and money. Hey Gary, you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. I have no idea how he has 5 stars...must be bots or something. They have been communicative, and they have been letting us know every step of the way they have worked with the insurance company, but not only that they have done 3 transmissions in our cars each crafted perfectly. Not only did I have the transmission rebuilt at a very reasonable cost, I was delighted at the care they took to show me everything they would do. This is a team of very professional gentlemen who treated me with respect and understanding of my circumstances. This shop should not have 3 stars, the guy Gary is very rude he will fast talk you if you do not have any knowledge on cars, first let me start by saying they lied to me about a part being on back order just so my car can sit there for 11 plus days to guarantee they could do the work for me, secondly when I did my research and found the part I needed they tried to tell me I could not supply my own parts that I was getting straight from the dealership, after I found the part Gary got upset with me and told me to come pickup my car he was not doing the work, this business is not good I do not recommend this place take your car somewhere else trust me!! Had a really great experience with this shop. Went in to get my rear differential checked out because it was making a whirring/whining sound when accelerating and decelerating (pinion bearing). After endless hours of research, phone calls and several visits to different shops, Budget Transmission came through! And even though I probably drove Gary nuts with my "check in calls", he called me just as much. He was very communicative and honest. He called and told me that most of the parts looked good and could be salvageable, some shops wouldn't tell you that and make you replace absolutely all of it. I even received a video on how things were looking, which I have never had any other shop do. They cleaned up the area and replaced only the parts that really needed to be replaced. I am skeptical that the previous shop I went to before BT messed some things up, but I'm glad that these guys were able to help a very stressed girl out haha will definitely go back read more

I'll start with stating I'm very mechanically inclined and do 95% of all work on my vehicles, light or heavy. I also am a small business owner and hate to leave bad reviews on another small businesses. I brought Gary a 2007 Yukon. This year GM truck has lots of electrical bugs and most of them lead to a service stabiltrac and traction control off code. I took this truck to the dealer and had it diagnosed. What they told me was it needed a encoder motor. This part shifts the transfer case in and out of 4 wheel drive. So I purchased the part and put it on the back burner until this past snow when the truck wouldn't go into 4x4. I took the truck apart and tried to install the new motor. It was cold and I couldn't get it to line up properly. So instead of freezing I brought it Gary. His shop is close to my house. I knew the minute I spoke with him to drop it off he was going to tell me it was a bad transfer case. Against my better judgement I left him the truck to diagnose. The next morning Gary called and to my expectation he told me it needed a transfer case. He told me that he could turn the gear on the side of the case with his fingers all of the way around, which I knew was a lie because I was in there the day before and it didn't do so. He quoted me a astronomical number to replace the transfer case and at that it was a sliding scale price. I asked Gary if when the transfer case was replace and the code was still on then what. He stumbled with his words and told me well he could only guarantee it would go into 4x4 and he didn't know much about the code. Needless to say I picked the truck up and brought it home. After speaking with a few actual reputable shops the same consensus every time, this seems like a electrical issue. Today I went ahead and installed the encoder motor and put the truck back together. All error lights are gone. The truck goes into and out of 4 wheel drive with no issues, I even tested it on snow to make sure the front driveline was turning. The transfer case is just fine. Gary isn't honest. He's a big ticket seller. Sadly most people don't know much about their cars and have faith in who they have "fixing" their car. Gary is one who takes advantage of this situation. Of course Gary will respond to this. Of course he will shift the blame as he has on other reviews. However the proof is in the pudding. Buyer beware of this one. read more

This place has nice reviews and rating but don't let that fool you. Gary the owner of the place is a complete nut job and yells and uses expletives with his customers. I went to this place a few months back looking to get my transmission fixed so I sent my car to the shop to get a diagnostic done. After receiving a quote that Gary showed me I decided to go elsewhere to get my car fixed. Only after two days of my car being in his shop I received a angry phone call from Gary calling me a dumbass and threatening me. I've seen other reviews on google saying the same thing that Gary was rude and very unprofessional but they always respond back basically blaming it all on misunderstanding and gaslighting the customers. My car's transmission was hard shifting for a couple of days brought to the local car shop and they told me there was nothing they could do so they recommended these guys. I show up 30 min before closing (yes I was that guy sorry) drop my car off and let home know what's going on and I say I want to get a transmission flush. Immediately goes on about how if I get a transmission flush it would be the dumbest thing I could do "you basically throwing your money away". So I decided against it only going for the diagnostic. True to his word he called me right before noon and says that when he ran the diagnostic he realized that I didn't have a normal 5-6 speed transmission but a CVT.(first red flag) almost all newer Subaru's have a CVT so I didn't think it was a problem but turns out Gary knows nothing about and told me to do my own research and figure it out myself but if I did need a new trans. It would cost me 8-10k dollars BS.... the next day I took it to the shop I got it at and there shop manager said he found a new trans out of state and he can do the whole trans. Swap for $3,500 so in conclusion if you have a newer Subaru and if you wanna save thousands go somewhere else.( gave 2 stars because he didn't make me pay for the diagnostic) read more

Budget Transmission took care of my car as soon as I walked in the door. I was told by a company that changed my oil that I had a transmission leak. I took my car to Budget, they put it on the rack and found no leak at all. They didn't charge me for the estimate. We read the one review for this place, and felt we needed to chime in. The experience described by Rachael was not anything like the experience we had with Budget Transmission. Please read on for details. We were referred to Gary's shop, Budget Transmission, by our regular garage, Front Range Auto & Tire. The guys at Front Range are so nice, professional, honest and reliable, we were very confident we would receive the same courteous service from any shop to which they would refer their own customers. We were not disappointed. Our car, a 2002 Buick LeSabre, was struggling to maintain power, and wasn't shifting properly. Front Range told us before they dug into the car, they wanted to be sure it was not a transmission problem. (Front Range does not do transmission work.) We drove the car to Budget Transmission, but it was late in the day. Gary took the time to drive the car a few blocks, but was not going to have the time to do a proper diagnostic that day. He put the car on the computer, but didn't get an error code. He asked if he could keep the car over night so he could look at it the next day. By mid morning the next day we received a call from Gary. He told us, while he would love to be able to sell us some transmission work, he truly believed it was not a tranmission problem, and had already talked to Front Range about the car. He said we should take it back to Front Range, since it appeared to be an emission issue, not transmission. WOW! How many places do you know who are honest enough to give you a true diagnostic, which will cause them to lose a sale? Gary didn't even charge us a diagnostic fee! I took my prized Saleen Mustang to Budget for a rebuild. Gary was knowledgeable about my transmission and competitively priced. Gary went above and beyond to satisfy my pickiness. After my transmission was perfectly rebuilt by Budget Transmission, I got a quote on a seal that was leaking (completely unrelated to the transmission rebuild). The quote was for $1200 and from a well known and reputable local chain shop. I called Gary to see if he could replace this seal and when I told him how much they wanted, he told me he doesn't typically change the seal in question but would do mine for $700. I waited two months after picking up my van to write this review. I wanted to be SURE the transmission continued to work well. I called and talked to Gary at Budget Transmission on my 2004 Mercury Monterey van. It is a low mileage vehicle and I was shocked I started having troubles going into reverse at about 45K miles. When I looked online, sure enough many others had low mileage transmission troubles with this particular vehicle. On my first contact, Gary recommend that I simply keep an eye out for more issues. They finally came at 55K miles when my van would not take off from a stop light. It worked after the second try but I then took it into Budget to have it repaired as nobody wants to risk being stranded somewhere. Their diagnostic test said the pump in the transmission was not holding pressure as it should. I told Gary I wanted this transmission to be rebuilt so it can last a LOT more miles. We then discussed other "know issues" and weaknesses with this transmission. That evening I researched it online as much as I could and confirmed pretty much every thing he had brought up. What we agreed to is that my transmission will be repaired and somewhat improved over the stock transmission but that it is STILL the same basic car transmission in a heavier vehicle. Two days later, Gary called with an update; Ford had delivered the wrong part and they had to wait for the correct one. Then, a day later he still did not like how it all felt after it was all assembled so he wanted to take it apart again. In addition, they found I had one broken motor mount that needed replaced. When I picked the van up it felt fantastic. Solid as a rock. He showed me the motor mount and I instantly saw why it was difficult to realize that it was broken at first glance. Here I am two months later and the transmission operates better than ever. Still solid as a rock. No snatch or hesitation in reverse and I cannot even feel when the van shifts. I liked Gary's openness and especially his communication with me. He had no problem with me checking what he told me online, he actually encouraged it. The van was returned to me in excellent condition and the repair is surely as good as anyone can ask for. I would recommend Budget Transmission in Aurora to a friend. read more

I had Budget Transmission put a new transmission on my Dodge 04' 3500 dully 3 months ago. The transfer case broke off while I was driving home last week at moderate speed. I'm a mechanic thats built high performance 4 x 4s for over 20 years and know the transfer case needs to be taken off to replace the transmission. It must not have been put on properly. Budget Transmission is not honoring the warranty and taking no responsibility. He quoted me $8,000 to fix it. I got two quotes for about $3,000 to fix it from other shops nearby so I'm having it towed. The Budget Transmission manager became agitated when I told him I was having it towed to another shop that's is going to do the work which he should have covered by warranty for less than half his quote. He came back out with a side arm on his hip yelling at me trying to intimidate me. My friend witnessed all of this and could not believe they could be in business with the way this was handle. The most unprofessional experience I've ever had. Be advised if you're considering having Budget Transmission repair your vehicle. Having them work on my truck was a costly mistake and not worth the aggravation and threats. I pray my review is read by every potential customer. They should not be in business treating customers this way and not honoring their "warranty". And guns are not a thing to be used at work to intimidate. He had my truck pinned when I arrived trying to get a mechanics lean as leverage to do the work. He threatened to send my truck to the dump last week over the phone then he threatened to have it impounded the next time we talked. I did not do anything to warrant his behavior. He's tried to tell me that transfer cases break all the time and is common which I know for a fact to be a outright lie. This is my work truck and this has cost me 2 weeks of work with 1 laid off employe. To add insult to injury, he said the 30,000 mile warranty on the 3 month old transmission is now invalided since I'm not paying him more than double to fix the transfer case that broke due to Budget Transmission's negligent installation. I saw fluid leaking out of the new transmission and pray it doesn't have to be rebuilt adding additional cost. I did not point this out because I did not feel safe saying anything more. I'm an independent businessman and this has about shut me down. Any honest shop would have honored the warranty and would have had fixed it last week. read more

In 2014 I had two transmissions rebuilt at Gary's shop. Recently after a 25000 mile maintenance at a honda dealership my car started having the dreaded p0740 tranny death code. Disappointed and frustrated I called Gary to ask for guidance. Despite the fact that I was out of warranty in both time and miles, Gary went above and beyond to help me out. Not only did he take time to help me determine the cause of the issue, but also refused any payment for the part. Gary exhibits a level of integrity and character that is rare in today's world. This review was written nearer to the time of service; it is my review that was posted on a Yahoo local forum. I have decided to add it to Yelp as well. Working with Gary (the owner), and this shop, was perhaps THE WORST car care experience I have EVER HAD. I brought my vehicle (2003 Kia Optima) in for a new clutch, because they were cheaper than anywhere else I called (I will give them that). It turns out I needed a new flywheel as well - that was another $900. Fine. I bring my car in in fully functioning condition, except the clutch, pay them $1800, and get back a car that IS NO LONGER DRIVABLE!!! The clutch is still slipping, the engine is hiccuping, and the car is making revving and rattling noises in the engine. So I contact the shop and bring my car back in. Gary refuses any liability and barely attempts to diagnose it (he mumbled something about ball bearings). I'm serious, the problems started immediately after I drove away from this shop - I just don't see how it could be anything but the mechanic's mistake. Now I am out the $1800, which is MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH, and I didn't feel like sinking one more penny into it, so I bought a new (used) car. I feel lied to and cheated. I should have been more persistent, but I was seriously overwhelmed (I feel like it was a typical "mechanic takes advantage of the 'helpless' girl" scenario). It has been several months since my car was in Gary's shop, and it has been sitting in my driveway ever since. Now I am sitting on a broken car, and don't know what to do. They said that someone had broken the knock sensor, and tried to shove it back in, still broken. I now have to replace that so that I may try to sell the vehicle. This is another $200 dollars down the drain, due to the mistake Budget Transmission made. Update: 7/15/10 Called back and asked if they guaranteed their work. The woman who answered was incredibly rude, and knew nothing about cars. She said I should have brought the car in earlier, which I did; she said I had to have my paper work "just like any other work you have done on your house, or anything else. You have to prove it is you." When I voiced the information about my previous experience, she got very stern with me and was totally unapologetic. I am not bringing my car back to them. Gary with Budget Transmission is an awful business owner. I took my 2003 Chevy Tahoe z71 in to get my transmission a full rebuild with around 170,000 on my original transmission, after it endured lots of driving highway, city, and a fair amount of off-roading. After he quoted me an original $1700, I ended up having to pay around $2300 out the door. I was pretty unhappy but went through with it because he had what looked like a good warranty of 2 years 24,000 miles. I drove the transmission off the lot and it immediately shifted different than before. It shifted better than when I took it in, but it felt like it might have been slipping from 2nd to 3rd gear but I wasn't a professional and I never had a new transmission in my car, so I didn't know how it should feel. The transmission managed to do okay with some odd shifts for about 4 months, before it totally went out again and had the same symptoms and problem. I took it back to his shop and told him what's going on. After he opened it he immediately started blaming everything on me saying I was abusing it and off-roading it terribly. He said what I was doing was my problem but he said he would cover it this one time, as pissed off and rude to me he was. I let him take care of it because it was clearly under warranty and I know I had not done anything to it to hurt the transmission, as I didn't off-road much at all compared to the original transmission which lasted 170k. After saying he wouldn't cover it again if it was deemed because of abuse, I knew that no matter what if I took it back he would deem it abuse and not cover it. Sure enough, about 11 months later, the transmission went out with the same exact problem again. Before he even saw my car, he started blaming me over the phone and trying to find every possible way to not be responsible for the repair. He even claimed it was because my rear axle was replaced when it locked up at a stop light. I called the shop that replaced my axle and they said there was no possible way that it could have caused the problem, especially considering I had it towed to them. I took it to him to check it out, and once he opened it he gave me every POSSIBLE scenario of how it might have failed, but never took responsibility that it was his fault or something causing it to go out that he hasn't found. He continued to say it wasn't covered under the warranty, even thought it was still under the time and mileage limit. To give some background, I work for the largest GMC dealer in Colorado, and one of the several shop mechanics has been GM certified to take apart and rebuild transmissions for over 20 years, and is known in Colorado as top transmission tech. Every excuse Gary at Budget gave me on why my transmission went out, my mechanic for GM laughed at and said there was no possible way that what I have done could break two transmissions within a year and a half and told me it was due to something causing failure that the shop didn't catch or just poor quality of work, as they are known to be bulletproof transmissions and with my Z71 package my Tahoe is made to be able to do quite a bit of off-roading, even thought after he rebuilt it the second time I did minimal dirt roads and a trip up to the mountains to my friends cabin, which did have an untouched muddy road to get there, causing mud to get under my vehicle and packed into a crossbeam under my transmission. I am now having GM do my transmission, for even LESS than Gary made me pay! The only difference is now it will be done right with a warranty that will actually be valid of 3 years 100,000 miles, not the lie of a warranty Gary screwed me over with for his bad excuse of work. He wrote up a service form about how he isn't covering my vehicle under warranty and lied about multiple things, saying I had told him I got stuck on a hill in my car (which I don't off-road enough to get stuck and have never gotten close to that point), and he also claims that I had been doing neutral drops and said I lied to him, which I was completely honest the whole time. Now I am $2300 out of a sad excuse of any good work or customer service from Budget Transmission. One last thing, after it was towed to my work (because he didn't put it back together), all of the parts including the transmission taken apart, the transfer case, my exhaust, and my drive shaft were thrown in the back of my car with fluid leaking everywhere all over my carpet in the back, and plastic trim pieces in my car, as well as even my bumper. Very disappointed. DO NOT go to the shop unless you want to overpay for work that will last months at best, and regret it in the end. read more

These guys changed my Murano's transmission. The towing to them was Free and their diagnostic was Free as well. Their customer service was great, Gary helped me thru the process. The cost was less than my quote from the Arapahoe Nissan dealership. They got my car back when they promised. Now, the car is working great. Good to work with an honest auto-mechanic. Wife's Acura transmission was hard shifting. My repair shop, Independant Auto Repair in Parker referred me to Gary at Budget Transmission in Aurora. I take all service work very seriously especially automotive as I was an experienced full service repair shop manager 40 years ago and did everything from engines to transmissions. Our shop rebuilt everything then including automatic transmissions.. Gary was professional and very knowledge and the work was performed fast despite being slammed. I had a similar bad experience. I drove my car over there and dropped it off. I told the guy that I didn't want to spend more than 1000 dollars as the car was only worth 2000. He promised me 1100 for a transmission repair. I told him I had to think it over. He swore up and down that this would fix the car. I looked on line and found lots of people saying that they had this specific issue and a transmission fix was not the answer. Gary swore up and down that this would fix it. Next thing I know he calls and tells me that it runs great and it costs 1800 dollars. I come in pay my money and then he tells me that the car is NOT running right. Not his problem. The car never ran right again. 3 tows into his shop later. He tells me he needs more money it is the transfer case. I called 5 shops and they said probable misdiagnosis. I keep complaining to the BBB but this guy is like Teflon the complaints just disappear cause he has a "BUDDY" down there. Don't get sucked in RUN! read more
