Dirty car with no windshield wiper fluid.
Kaliko P.

"Piece of $h!t Car" - Adam Sandler Booked through Costco, initially it was Enterprise but I cancelled that for Budget as I was saving about $20 more. BIG MISTAKE. Enterprise had no line. The Budget here had a line almost to the door (see pics). Waited 1.5 hours in line. Only one agent at the desk. After about an hour and with the line growing longer, two more agents show up, presumably, after their lunch, because after the two agents got there, the other one disappeared. Our agent was very abrupt. You can tell he hated his job. We were friendly to him but he was irritated at the small talk. He sent us out to an EMPTY lot with no car. We looked confused, and an employee in the garage said the agent probably booked the car a few seconds after another agent booked it out. We asked him if we had to stand back in line. He said no, just cut in. We got filthy looks from people who were already waiting in line. The agent didn't even address us. We had to tell him we had no car waiting for us. He didn't even apologize. He sent us back out. We got a filthy car. It was caked in grime, and all the way from Washington too. The inside of the car was also not cleaned but my husband didn't want to deal with that agent again, or wait in line again, or get filthy looks again, so we drove off. The windshield was so dirty, we had to go to a gas station to squeegie the dirt off, as the windshield wiper fluid was empty. Returning the car was confusing. The person waving us in waved us into a lane that had a parked car, no one was moving. After a few minutes, we got out of that lane and waited in another lane. Not moving again, but there were people pulling in behind us, getting their luggage out already. No one came to our car and after a few minutes, we got out. The guy who was supposed to inspect our car was yelling at the guy who was directing people into the wrong lanes. We gave our key to the guy and made sure he walked to the correct car. Ay caramba. Budget in DFW, you can kiss my @$$.

Waiting for our paperwork at DFW

Need to improve efficiency. 1. -1/2 hours in line today. Something is wrong with your process. I'm willing to pay more. My time is worth it.

A long slow moving line working its way to two slow moving employees.

50 people with reservations in line and two (slow moving) employees to process the rentals. We had to wait for over and hour and were locked in with a prepaid rental. If only they had some way to know in advance how many people would be showing up to pick up previously reserved cars... We will NEVER rent from Budget again.

It was a hassle and multiple safety issues. The agent insisted I take a huge 4dr truck. I don't mind an upgrade. But she stated they did not have the vehicle type I rented. The 1st truck had a spare tire on it and an unsecured flat tire in the bed of the truck. Going 70 mph on the highway. Not safe with a spare tire. Let alone unsecured stuff in the back. I return back to the check in counter. The agent saw me. Did not acknowledge me. And took her time chatting up another customer. Meanwhile my delay is getting longer. She give me another huge truck. This one was dirty. Fuel tank was not full. (I always return full). Not worth the hassle of getting the over charge is fuel service. This truck had one tire that was 28psi. When the rest of the tires were 35psi. Already late, I did not have the time to go back and swap vehicles for the 3rd time! I took it. Hoping it was just low and not a slow leak. IT WAS a slow leak. Now I have to deal with that.... Stopping every day to spend money at a gas station to fill air. My days in Dallas are 12-15 hr days. So I don't have time to swap out cars and other locations close at 6pm. I did end up making it to a budget shop downtown where Trey, stayed late to inflate my tire. I really appreciated him. I short, I lost of a lot time dealing with a sub- par vehicles and paid more for gas since it's a huge truck, filling air in my leaking tire, and general concern for my safety. I did not pay hundreds of dollars for an unsafe and dirty vehicle.

long line on a friday morning

Sigh...what to say? Everything about this rental from Budget was an abysmal experience. I had a reservation for 12 pm pickup from DFW airport and upon arriving at the rental car location, the line was down the building. I was shocked. I thought it was because it was a Friday and perhaps it's the uptick before the weekend. But nope, it looks like this is the norm for this location. With 3 employees working the counter, the line to get my car took 2 hours. Then after getting the paperwork, I went out to the lot to retrieve the car, which there was another line that took 30 minutes. It also looked like Budget ran out of cars, because the car I got was from Avis and it was a huge Ford SUV when I had requested a compact car. Anyways, at the end of all that, I was just glad to have gotten a car. It doesn't seem like having a reservation helped the process either. I got my car 2.5 hours after waiting in line. Absolutely ridiculous. Do not rent here. Unless you have all the time in the world and don't mind waiting in line!!! But why wait in line at a car rental place of all places?!?

Line wraps around, goes out the airport. Do better.

Worst experience ever renting a car. The agents were slow as molasses. They were low on cars and didn't tell the 20 people in line.

It was a Wednesday, mid morning and I did not have to wait long for a shuttle bus to the rental plaza. Elliot was the driver and got us there safely. They had a decent choice of cars, I chose a small jeep. The check out line was slow but they opened up more lanes as the line was building. The return: Kat checked me in when returning the car and was very quick and pleasant. Strange thing is there was an extra key fob in the jeep. I told her about it and she actually thanked me for telling her. The return shuttle process is really bad. So many people on the shuttle yet they keep adding people that are going to the plaza. They should empty the buses a little more or run more to relieve the crowds. Lots of people getting on and off. We had to shuffle around with big bags, reaching around people, some had to get off in order to let others pass. I got my receipt right away via email.

Upon arrival, I waited in line for over 45 minutes to pick up my vehicle. While the actual transaction process was efficient once I reached the counter, the wait time itself was unexpectedly long--especially after a full day of travel. Like many customers, I had already navigated multiple legs of a trip, and at that point, the goal is simple: get in the car and go. One thing that stood out to me was that while SIXT had a line nearly around the corner--clearly indicating strong business and demand--nearby competitors appeared to have minimal wait times, with only a few customers being assisted at once. This speaks volumes about the success and popularity of your brand, which is a huge positive. However, it also highlights an opportunity. During high-demand periods, ensuring proper staffing levels can make a critical difference in the customer experience. Time is incredibly valuable, and in my case, the delay shortened the time I had planned to spend with my son. We had hoped to share a meal together, but instead, I had to rush to get him to work. While individual circumstances may not always be visible to staff, the collective experience matters. Customers arriving after long travel days are often tired, eager, and sometimes emotionally carrying more than meets the eye. Creating a smoother, more efficient transition from arrival to vehicle pickup would not only improve satisfaction but also strengthen customer loyalty. SIXT is clearly doing many things right--your demand reflects that. With a few operational adjustments around staffing during peak times, the experience could match the strength of your brand. Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback. (I don't need to add a photo of the car because it is lovely and they just received a fleet of cars so I am sure turning them over at the rate they are I get it and the wonderful woman helping me at the garage helped me immediately) this is a positive review and their cars are

One thing to note- if you have loyalty with Avis/preferred member status through renting a lot or credit card, you can skip the inside line and go straight to the member line outside in the garage itself (not clear to me until I finished waiting in the inside line and the clerk told me where to go). I preselected and prepaid online for a "mystery" car which was extremely cheap (probably 1/5th the price) compared to the other choices at the time. I ended up getting an electric SUV. Return was just as easy. Head back to DFW and follow signs for the rental car center. They have dedicated shuttles that return to specific terminals so you don't have to do the dance of waiting until your terminal comes up.

Absolutely terrible experience with Avis at DFW Airport. At that hour, you would think they'd be better staffed knowing flights are still coming in--but apparently not. We stood there forever while the line barely moved. To make things worse, when it was finally our turn, they had messed up our reservation. Instead of taking responsibility, the staff was rude, dismissive, and acted like it was somehow our fault. No apology, no urgency, just attitude. Customer service was honestly shocking. After waiting that long, the last thing anyone wants is to be treated like an inconvenience. It felt like they couldn't care less about the experience they were providing. If you're flying into DFW, do yourself a favor and book with literally anyone else. We chose Hertz and had a great experience.

I'll never understand why anyone would want to start a rental at the counter these days with apps and online booking so readily available. My Hertz experience picking up was good although there wasn't much of a car selection in President's Circle as I would have expected. PC being the top tier, I usually see more variety and some luxury as well. I got a rather ordinary Nissan which was clean and quick. I also dropped off the same day. When I first arrived, they didn't even have cars available, which immediately set the tone. After finally getting a vehicle and returning it, my car was not checked in properly, which resulted in an incorrect charge of $1,147. Since then, it's been over a week of trying to get this resolved. I will say--the AI chat and live agents are polite and try to be reassuring. However, the process itself is incredibly slow and inconsistent. I've spoken to multiple agents and keep getting different answers, or the same repeated message that the refund "is being issued," without any actual confirmation or progress. It's frustrating to have to keep following up for something that was clearly an error on their end. Good customer service isn't just about being nice--it's about resolving issues efficiently, and that's where this experience has fallen short. I don't typically write reviews unless I feel like others should be aware. To be fair, it seems like the employees I've interacted with are trying their best, but there appears to be a real lack of communication between the company and their teams on the ground. It feels disorganized, and as a customer, that comes across as the company being focused on collecting charges rather than properly taking care of issues when they arise. Overall, this experience has been disappointing, and I hope Hertz improves both its internal communication and how quickly it resolves customer issues.

The only other time I encountered a longer shuttle ride was LA and that shuttle bus trip was further compounded by a ton of traffic. The good is that the shuttle buses were frequent during the time of day I used them in the early afternoon. I waited 10 minutes on arrival for a bus and the same on the return. My husband is a veteran, and as a longtime USAA member, I trusted that booking through this program would provide a smooth and reliable experience. Unfortunately, that was not the case -- and I want to be very clear that this situation was NOT USAA's fault in any way. The issue was entirely with Alamo's lack of transparency and communication. We completed the "Skip the Counter" process, paid the $225 rental fee in advance, and expected everything to go smoothly. After selecting the vehicle and proceeding to the exit gate, we presented the driver's license and the credit card used for the reservation. Only then were we informed that an additional $400 deposit was required because we lived more than 100 miles away from the rental location. This information was never disclosed during booking, payment, or the Skip the Counter process. To make matters worse, I specifically called the day before pickup to confirm everything was in order and asked if there would be any issues. At no point did anyone mention this additional deposit requirement. Had we been informed beforehand, we could have planned appropriately or made different arrangements. Because our credit card had a $500 limit, we were unable to complete the rental and were left stranded despite already paying for the reservation and following all of Alamo's instructions. This experience was stressful, embarrassing, and completely avoidable. Hidden policies and poor communication ruined an important family trip for a veteran trying to attend his daughter's graduation. I am extremely disappointed in Alamo's customer service and transparency, and after this experience, I will never rent from Alamo again.

Their wait times are quite absurd, I think this last time I waited about an hour and 15 mins but honestly to be expected since they usually take about 15-20 mins checking-in one person and there's usually only 1-2 workers on shift. This past experience was actually better than the first because of the customer service I received once I made it to the front of the line. I don't remember the workers name who checked me in but he was very friendly and it went a lot quicker because I checked in on my phone and had my insurance card ready. Okay now the ONLY reason I'm writing this review is because of Rian, the shuttle driver that was on shift when I returned the car! He provided amazing customer service by not only allowing me a couple mins to grab my things and make the shuttle that was just about to head out when I was pulling in but he also surprised me by doing the check in process himself. I don't think I would've made my flight had it not been for his kindness and willingness to go above and beyond! If I rent with you guys again, it will definitely be because of the actual workers so maybe y'all should hire some more and increase the daily rates by $10-$15 to compensate for the increase in payroll.

Absolute bait and switch--avoid this place at all costs!…read more I've been renting cars for over 20 years and have never experienced such aggressive, dishonest upselling. I booked this rental expecting to pay around $289, but by the time the agent was done "adding on" fees, my total ballooned to $830.60. The worst part was being forced into a $35/day "unlimited mileage" charge ($315 total) that I explicitly told them I did not need. Even with a standard 150-mile-per-day limit, I would have had over 1,300 miles to use--way more than necessary. On top of that, they tacked on a $134.91 "Tire & Glass Pack" and $270 for CDW. They also bury a predatory late fee in the fine print: if you are even slightly late, they charge a massive $129.37 per day plus taxes. I should have gone with Enterprise for $500. Instead, I ended up paying nearly double that for a Chevy Trax. I will never rent from Easirent again. Save yourself the headache and the money--go literally anywhere else.
