Not Trustworthy! Returning customer, got a car I could not use Feb 8 2025, Springfield airport, Budget and Avis. Regarding the electric car that was forced on me. I rented with you because I have many times in the past. When I purchased my flight, an add prompted me to purchase with you if needed. I was familiar with you and I needed a car, so i did. I came to the counter to pick up my rental and was told my mystery car. I told them I didnt know how to use one and wanted a gas car. He told me for an additions $15 per day I could get one. My visit was due to a sudden illness of an elderly family member that was not expected to pull through, so it was not planned and I didnt have the funds to do so. Reluctanly, I agreed if they showed me how to start it and charge it. Someone met me out by the car but took off before I started it. It took me 15 minutes just to figure out how to make it go forward. It was all down-hill from there. I would have certainly refused the car and demanded to speak to a manager, had I know how much of a hastle it would be. Six days later, upon returning the car, I aproached the counter and found them forcing an electric car on the woman infront of me. Boldly I asked " does she have the right to refuse the car"? and he began to say, "yes..." I quickly interjected, "without paying $15.00 extra per day?" He was appalled at my interruption, and I needed to explain. I had just come back from my experience with an electric car rental, and it was horrible. He told her she could NOT get out of it for the same price. I was then able to speak to the woman manager. She gave me her card, Stefanie *******. I began to explain my dificulties. I had rented this car but was grounded. Couldnt use the car once I got to my aunts house in Carthage. It used half the battery charge just to go 40 minutes down the road. Then the qr code that was supposed to direct me to a local charging station was all back by the airport, 40 min. away. The next day I found 2 local charging stations. ONly one of them answered the phone. I used them. It took 5.5 hours to charge it. I was grounded from then on out, for I knew I had to get back to the airport and it would take half the battery life to do so. I had planned on visiting other family, but could not. I explained to her I would like her to make this right and she suggested she would call me bacck on monday and work out a possible voucher for a future rental. She didnt call. I called and left message. She didn't call again the next day. They should not use electric cars in areas that are so remote and they sould not be included in mystery cars unlesss you can opt out. Sorry a bit long. I always dislike when I have to put a bad review on Yelp! This time though it's so deserving!!! We reserved a mid-sized truck at the airport in Springfield, MO months in advance of our trip. When we arrived to start our fun vacation we were told that they had no mid-sized trucks (it was during the eclipse and gave away all the trucks), they gave us a HUUUGE special anniversary edition Ford lifted high off the ground!! I am a senior with a bad back and am only 5'2" tall! I couldn't get into the truck!!!!! Then they gave us a very low to the ground small Honda which my 6' husband who is handicapped couldn't get into!!! I went in to beg for the mid-size truck we RESERVED!!! The young lady had an SUV for $40 more a day, I told her I wouldn't pay that much so she gave it to me for $20 a day (which I said I would fight with Budget later--we were stuck at the airport)!!!! Why we couldn't get the SUV in exchange for the truck we ordered is incomprehensible to me!!!! I got the info for the manager there and the number to Budget's main office. I proceeded to start calling!!! The bill was over$300 more! Finally after 9 calls to the main office I got $150 of it back. The manager (Bryan) at the Springfield office NEVER returned my many calls (I was told I'd have to get the remaining refund from him and he refused it--don't know why). I'm still out over $150 and I'm pretty pissed!!! So be careful with these rental car places they are a rip off!! This is the WORST place to ever rent a car at. You think you're getting a good deal, because they're among the cheapest to rent at this airport (Springfield, MO). But in the end, you pay for it in hassle, and multiple phone calls to try to straighten the issue out. I probably spent a full 3 hours of time speaking to multiple people as well as Budget Corporate. The supposed Manager at this locating, Loren -- who will not answer or return your calls -- is the worst person I have ever dealt with when it comes to car rental. He should have been fired a long time ago, given how many problems this place has. I ended up eventually speaking with his supposed boss, Lee Hanson, who wasn't much better. And the counter staff here? Also the worst. They even give "slacker" a bad name. And if you speak with Budget's "Specialty Department," they are also the WORST, with customer service that doesn't do what they say they will. STAY AWAY. I WILL NEVER RENT FROM THIS LOCATION AGAIN. I rented a car while in Boston. I used a third party through Priceline. It was a total cluster The actual rental time was different from the third party to budget Budget rented me the car for 17 minutes because it was an am to pm but it was entered incorrectly Budget ended up charging me for another day. I couldn't return it to the location described on the contract because it was closed I had to drop off at a different location Budget charged me to drop off at different location and then charged me $22 because I was 1/2 gallon short. I called to get it clarified, but between the unclear communication and the messed up contract, I got a refund of $22 but everything was a mess Definitely won't use a third party and I will be double checking times with a microscope before initialing anything Never had problems with rental cars before Be careful with these guys read more

He speaks down to his customers in such an awful way that I will never do business with Avis or budget again as long as I live because I will associate it with him. He even scoffed at me over the phone when I told him I couldn't read the ridiculously long contract at the airport counter because I have a diabetic child that I was tending to along with a toddler and other child. They hide fees in the fine print, have their employees verbally offer fake "free upgrades" and then after you sign you'll be charged for hidden fees. Then they will turn around and throw the contract in your face and talk down to you smugly saying you signed the fine print and force you to pay. This is a huge scam and Loren Davison is the ringleader. I also asked for the owner of this locations direct contact info and he refused to give it to me. Where had excellent service from this budget rental, I originally rented the car for 6 days. Our flights ended up changing due to Covid so we had to stay an extra night well the rental car company had changed me for a 7 day rental because it was the best deal. Well I ended up in the hospital the day we were to fly home my wife called and they said no problem this it was on like 8.95 a day extra. Excellent service!! read more

I visited this location on 10/9 at 10:30 p.m. to collect a prepaid rental. Despite paying online in full in advance, I was the only customer required to give a thumbprint because I was "flagged". I have been renting from Budget since 2013 and have never encountered such an issue. I was asked to provide three additional forms of identification, which ranged from my social security card, additional credit cards, health insurance card, and car insurance. IDusty was rude and did a terrible job explaining why I needed to show my social security card in order to rent a Kia Sorento. This is my final time renting with Budget. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. This has got to be one of the scammiest groups of people I've been around. They conduct their business in an unbelievably shady way. We reserved a sedan for our visit to Springfield. We were told in these exact words from the female agent Christa when checking in for our reservation: "Oh looks like we have a 4Runner for you." Normally we use enterprise so when they say this it means whatever car you ordered they don't have so they're just giving you what they have. That's not the case with Budget but they will not verbalize this with you, they will just charge you more money for an upgrade without telling you. The reservation was booked for about $138 for 3 days. When talking with the manager Bryan he backed his employee telling us that she didn't need to verbalize it because it was hidden in the paperwork that we signed. There was absolutely no verbal indication that they were trying to upgrade us to a nicer car, we would have vehemently declined if that was the case. Bryan the manager admitted that Christa didn't verbalize it because she didn't have to because we initialed the contract. He essentially admitted that this is their up-sale tactic. They just start naming cars and expect customers to agree and then they quickly have you initial without going over the upgrade/up-charge on the card. We were also charged twice on our card in two amounts of $502 for a total of $1004, and when we brought this up to Bryan he blamed the bank app and said the bank app must just be broken and glitching because in his experience working here and at hotels that's what happened. Well we called the bank and the bank app wasn't wrong, we were indeed charged twice and had to dispute the second charge and have a new card issued because Bryan the manager at budget can't take any responsibility for him or his employees mistakes. Either that, or these are their standard business practices that include trying to swindle people out of their money by secretly upgrading their car without any verbal acknowledgment or confirmation and agreement from the customer. We will never use Budget or Avis ever again. It was by far the most unprofessional experience we have ever had with any major corporation or business. read more

I rented a car from budget in Springfield airport and had already bought the insurance from Priceline and was told to sign for it but it ended up being more insurance that cost more than the car rental itself, I don't know why these people aren't being investigated on criminal charges after reading all the horrible things that they've doing to other customers, I filed complaints with the state attorney general's office and the federal trade commission and I urge else that has been ripped off to stand up and fight back against this kind of business practices read more

I paid for my rental ahead of time using PayPal for security reasons. I thought this would save time. Budget refused to accept it and I had to put it on a credit card, and they charged me more than my original booking. So I was double charged. DO NOT USE THEM. The least customer service oriented of any rental car I have experienced in all my work travel. They didn't have a full size vehicle that I had reserved. Christa tried to talk me into paying an extra $30+/ day for a challenger. When I said I just wanted the full size I reserved I was sent out to a minivan. Came back and let them know that I wasn't interested in a minivan and was told that was all they had. They refused to find anything of equal or greater value and instead offered a sub compact or compact car as my only options. Walking back out to the lot to find the compact car frustrated with the rude lack of service, I couldn't help but notice how many full size vehicles were parked in the Budget/Avis spaces. Our $94.50 for a 3 day rental of a Toyota Corolla with a Costco contract cost us $179.78 with all the extras we asked to decline added in. Car smelled like cigerette smoke when picked up. Called and extended my reservation, but got charged double what they said they would charge (verbally) when I requested to keep the car an extra day. Paid $34 a day for the car on my original booking, but was charged $68.00 a day for that extra day, plus they charged me a $20 late fee, even though I had called to extend my reservation. **They charge $9.99 a gallon for fuel if you don't fill up before you drop off. The other rental agencies charge only $2.29 a gallon. read more

Budget Rent A Car on the other hand is a bunch of nickel and dime a holes. They want to act like I never rented or returned a car before. Of course I am going to fill the tank before I return it, which I did. Then when they actually run my credit card they say I owe them 14+ dollars in gas. What the what. I drove it for 5 to 10 miles after filling it up. So some d bag is in back and when they get cars returned they are allowed to lie about how much gas is in them so they can charge you for something without your knowledge. The person I called to inquire about this told me that I could fax my receipt to prove I bought gas. Er who the hell keeps receipts. I pay for my gas at the pump with a credit card. Are they going to let me send in my credit card bill. Well see when I call their customer service to find a way to rectify this. Also will they judge me for my credit card purchases. Probably. I am telling you don't ever bother with these jokers. Because I drove under 70 miles I was charged a fuel fee of $15.99 because I didn't get a gas receipt when I topped it off. SCAMMERS!!! I purchased a flight and car rental together online and couldn't find my confirmation number immediately and asked the cashier at budget if they had the record of my payment. They said they didn't and they could help me with a new rental agreement ($$$) I searched my email on my phone one more time and found the confirmation number and magically they said, "Oh here it is". They told me they had a vehicle with no upgrade fees. I signed on the line and they gave me the keys. A couple of days after I returned the car I noticed they charged me nearly three times the original agreement. I called and they said they would credit my account in 10-14 days. What a rip-off. I rented a vehicle through Expedia and once I arrived in Springfield, was pressured to take the additional coverage to protect the vehicle. I told the agent that I have insurance from home and he asked what insurance company so I told him Geico. He looked at something very quickly and told me I didn't have enough insurance. He kept pressuring me to choose between full and partial insurance even after telling him I was only there to drive to the hospital (less than 10 miles from airport) and stay there with my mother. He wouldn't drop it so I finally accepted the partial insurance for $24.99 a day so I could get the vehicle and get to my mother. Two days later I finally had a chance to call the 800# reservation line and spoke with an agent who informed me I had to request this refund once I returned the vehicle. I told her that didn't make much sense since anyone could request a refund on such a pricey item and she assured me they would do it. When I returned the vehicle I was told the return agent couldn't do anything about it but to call back on Monday when the manager, Lesley, would be in the office. I called and left a message which was returned 3 hours later. I told him all of the info above and he refused to return the money and said they are a local office and can't be held to what info the 800 number agents did or didn't provide me. He said I would have had to return to the airport, return the vehicle and pick up a new one without the insurance approved. None of which was shared with me when I called and why I didn't do in the first place. This was absolutely awful customer service and reflects poorly not only on the local franchisee but the national brand as well. My total for the week wound up being double the estimate because of this shady business practice. read more

When returning the car, I've asked the employee at the counter to confirm that there was no damage to the car, which he refused to do. Then I asked for the manager and the manager refused to discuss the condition of the car, saying it's their policy. So basically, they can make up stuff at a later date and say that you've damaged the car when you're no longer there to discuss it. Luckily I've made a video showing that the car wasn't damaged and they haven't tried to pull that on me yet, but I'd rather have the peace of mind of having a written report from them. read more

This is probably not the first experience I'd like to have attempting to rent a car. I used Priceline to reserve a Hyundai Elantra the day before I needed a car to drive from Missouri to Kentucky and back. The website said I'd have a rate of $11 per day plus fees and taxes equaling about $88 total for 4 days which was fine, and possibly getting a car of equal economy mpg if not the Hyundai. Drive all the way to the airport, and the lady at the counter almost let me walk away with a midsized Kia with lower mpg and because the car was a different size than economy, they were gonna charge me a higher rate. Of course I went back thinking I would get it resolved, but they tried to tell me that they and their computer had no idea what mpg's were on cars, so I had to stand there and google cars to view its mpg, and when I found one that would be comparable, she told me that this would also raise my rate because they didn't consider it an economy car. All on top of the fact that she didn't show me specific numbers or prices to what the price would jump to or what i was going to pay, simply that i would pay more. It felt very deceiving. Long story short, I just gave them back the keys and told them to refund my money and I went elsewhere. I know that renting a car can be expensive and a big liability but I never would have imagined renting a car could be such a headache. Last week I took my lovely partner to Branson Mo. She is from the NY area. I was telling her about the wonderful hospitality in the Springfield Branson area. We walked up to the Budget counter, waited patiently for the agent to finish up in the back (ps you are not invisible) and proceeded to have to endure some of the most hostile, indifferent service either of us have ever experienced. Not a good afternoon, not a single word came out of her mouth that wasn't dire warning about what would happen if we didn't load up on insurance, gas or take the car offered. We were so rattled by the experience that we didn't even bother asking her to point us toward Branson when we left the airport. I have been in the travel industry for over 30 years and this is the absolute worse encounter at a car rental kiosk that I recall. I would rent a bicycle before I went back there. In order to avoid publicly shaming this woman I am withholding her name. If Budget cares they are free to contact me and I will be happy to fill in the details. read more

My initial experience was one of confusion at Budget Rental Car. I don't understand why an agency has you sign an agreement to pay additional gas fees when you decline and offer to refill the tank before you return. The clerk explained that it's just their policy and you must return with a gas receipt to prove you put gas in the vehicle, and then and only then will they remove the charges. Upon my return home I checking my AMEX bill and to my surprise I was charged an additional $90.93. I PREPAID for my vehicle and still you charge me. "Yes sir you signed it, and there's no way to remove it." It's our company policy. This is a low budget company tactic that scavenges for every penny. Technically they're right because I signed it, but even after I explained that I already have all the insurance coverage I need through USAA. The slightly less than courteous Springfield airport manager says in a lightly voice "well you signed the original copy.." . OK, If I must suck it up and pay for the charges, but I'll never ever rent from BUDGET and I want all my FB, TWITTER, IG, family and friends to know what tactics to be aware of because in the end if you base your purchase on "BUDGET, " no pun intended, then you'll get SCREWED with the end results by having to pay more money anyway if you aren't paying close attention. READ, READ, AND READ closely before you sign and walk away. This is my RANT and DISMAY with this low budget company and I will continue to voice my concerns. I realized after looking back and rethinking how could I have missed this big oversight. Then it dawn on me: I told the desk representative I decline any additional insurance, he said OK. Then he promptly presented me with the declination sheet and asked me to initial in all the appropriate places. I didn't stop to think that he would present me with a sheet that in one specific area that had been changed to "acceptance." I initialed all the places he directed me to and then asked for a copy of the invoice. The young man presented me with a copy and not the original initialed sheet; hence, I didn't think to review the sheet closely to noticed that he had an acceptance or acknowledgement of additional insurance coverage instead of my declination. BEWARE folks this is a subtle scam taking additional dollars out of your pocket. BTW, the customer service directly from Loren, a guy and the airport manager of the low "Budget Car Rental" agency at the Springfield MO airport, who would not provide his last name, was very rude and curt. read more

I rented through Costco and noticed the Budget invoice was about $7 higher and there was something showing as an FTP fee. I asked what it was and after a lengthy discussion I learned it is a hidden fee they charge for using the express check-in or having miles transferred to your airline. They tried to blame the fee on the airline, but I learned it was a Budge/Avis fee, not an airline fee. Renter beware! I rented a car for my husband who is inexperienced with traveling along. He was tricked into signing for insurance that he didn't need which increased the total cost to more than 80%. When I saw the changes I immediately contacted them asking to cancel the insurance on the first day of his 10 days rental, but I was told that he can't cancel a contract he already signed. My husband said he specifically said he didn't want anything extra, but because he didn't read all the fine print he was taken by Budget. Lying Service Agents! I came in to pick up my rental and was told by the agent that their insurance was required and that my personal insurance could not be used. It being my first time renting a car and feeling overwhelmed with the paperwork, I took their word for it, although I declined other options they tried to add to my reservation including pushing me to upgrade to a larger vehicle. My cost ended up being double what I originally thought when booking through Hotwire. The agent was not very helpful with questions I had regarding the extra fees. Could not give me a straight answer to what they were for. Within the hour I spoke to a friend who told me I was lied to regarding insurance, which I also confirmed through my personal insurance company. When I respectfully and calmly drove back to the rental location, the agent was rude and said he would have to return the vehicle and re-rent it. This would have charged me double what I had already paid. The customer service line wasn't much help either. After they tried to blame HotWire first, which has nothing to do with the insurance option, they said they'd give me a full refund of the insurance but did not follow through, only giving me 25% back of what was paid for insurance. Totaling $23 of the $300 they charged. When I asked, again calmly, if they felt this was fair treatment, the phone agent just stayed quiet before continuing on. DO NOT RENT HERE! We travel often and use rental cars frequently. Budget is usually a safe bet, but NOT at this airport. Our flight arrived early and due to the fact that the airport is so small, our bags came very quickly, so we got to the rental counter ahead of schedule to pick up our car. That has never been an issue for me before, so I was surprised when the guy acted like he couldn't find my reservation and then said, "Oh, we have it, but you aren't supposed to pick it up until 11." We explained that we had gotten in early and asked if we could pick up our car a little early. The guy (Bradley, I think), said that since we rented the "lowest class car" they didn't have it available and we would have to wait. "It", like they only had ONE of these cars in their whole fleet. Whatever. He said he could upgrade us to the next level car and it would be available. When we asked how much that would be, he said it would be an additional $30 a day. We were paying less than $25/day for the rental to begin with!! So, no thanks...we will just wait. The guy was a real jerk the whole time. While we were waiting, my husband went to check again to see if there was something they could do (because we have never been treated like this before) and luckily, there was a different agent. My husband explained the situation and this agent began trying to help....but then Bradley reappeared and said that he would take care of it. Bradley, once again, was very rude and unhelpful. At 11am, we finally went to the desk to claim our car. Bradley was curt and rude and very condescending when we declined coverage (because our insurance company covers it). Slowly and loudly explaining (as if we were children) how we would be responsible for any damage caused to the car. It was shameful. Then, we went out to get our car that we had waited so patiently for. The minute I opened the door I was nearly bowled over with the smell of cigarette smoke! It was awful. Also, the car was dirty and was missing the floor mats. My husband was none too pleased and went in to demand a different car. Again, he was met with Bradley (seriously, how does this guy have a job?), and Bradley just said, "Sorry, it's the only lower class car we have available. We had to "rush" to have it ready for you. We can spray it with deodorizer, but that's all we can do." Seriously, this was the worst place ever. We just decided to cut our losses and go. Luckily we were just driving to a meeting and the car would sit for 3 days, so we weren't going to need to use it much at all. Which is actually a REALLY good thing, because once we started driving it, we realized that it was not in very good shape mechanically either. Listen guys....we didn't rent from "Joe's Local Rent-a-Wreck". This was supposed to be Budget. A reputable rental car place. We didn't need an upgraded car. On June 26th, 2014, Budget rent a car at the Springfield , Missouri airport pulled a bait and switch on us. We had a prepaid reservation for an economy car with unlimited miles. They did not have the economy car and offered a free upgrade. On the contract, they stated I initialed stating I was willing to pay $75 for the upgrade. Verballay I did not agree. I should of read the contract because the attendant pointed out where I was supposed to initial and I initialed it. My bank statement shows they charged me $94 for my prepaid vehicle! They fooled me! Only one star because they don't allow zero stars. Used Payless car rental. Bad service and charged more than price quoted on Orbitz. When I picked up the rental car the contract handed to me was at a much higher rate than what I was confirmed online. I pointed out the discrepancy to the clerk. He said that the additional rate was because he added an extra day and that it would come off if I returned the car by a certain time (a time that was not accurate). He also charged me for a tank of gas on the front end. He said it would be taken off later. I asked him to take the charges off now and reprint invoice. The clerk said he could not re-do the invoice to match the online quoted price. However, he promised that all would be taken care of when I returned the vehicle. An overall bad start to my rental experience. When I returned the car the clerk (a different person) tried to charge me the higher rate. Again, I had to point out that I had an online quote for less. She finally took the extra day off but only because I argued with her and she could not dispute that I arrived before the contract time which was earlier than the time I was told by the original clerk. I also had to prove with a fuel receipt that I put gas in the car, because she wasn't going to go out and check the vehicle or take my word for it. That charge finally came off. Lastly, I was still charged more than the quote due to optional roadside assistance. She refused to take that off the bill because "it is not optional and is always included". When I pointed out that it was not included in the online quote she changed her position and said that I agreed to it. Ultimately, after jumping through hoops I still paid more than the Orbitz quote. I rented from Budget at the Springfield airport. Without going into all the gory details, this is the most dishonest, scamming business I have ever run across. Just trust me on this one, do NOT rent from them EVER unless you like being a victim of one of their many scams. What happened to me was far worse than what happened to Kozibear K. ......My guess is that they did not back up their claim to Kozibear with any paperwork or proof. If anyone out there has fallen victim to their scams, you should file a complaint with the BBB and maybe call the local news media to have them do an investigative report, because I know Kozibear and I are not the only ones out there that have been scammed! Deceived: taken! Wished I had read the reviews below had same experience with Lauren! Booked car online thru app and was excited to see a great deal on a rental for wife and going to a marriage retreat. Didn't understand so my fault for not digging deeper but Lauren sold me on paying to fill tank ahead of time: didn't realize i paid 48$ for tank, believed that was deposit to pay up to upon return to refill tank : I only used 1/4 tank so taken for a sucker! Second was the online reservation sold me on price paid up front was a better deal : then when got final bill there was an additional 35$ in unmentioned taxes and some crazy fee (not mentioned) for applying rental to Hotel rewards? When confronting Lauren on phone did not send me a receipt because they did not (blames me for not giving it?) email to send plus his lame attempt to make me feel better about being taken because I had gotten a coupon really ticked me off. My rental car was booked on 10-20-19 using my debit card online. The website NEVER informed me that a major credit card was required to complete my rental. I arrive at the airport on 11-21-19 to pick up the mini van I thought I rented. The lady asked me for the debit card that I used to book my rental and then informed me that a credit check needed to be done and if I did not pass I would have to supply a credit card. I did not quite understand what she was saying and her awful customer service did not explain. She then takes my social and runs my credit. 2 minutes later she proceeds to tell me that my payment cannot be processed. At this point I am very confused and I state that my payment was already submitted in full. She then tells me that I need to supply a major credit card to complete my rental. Well, I do not have a major credit card so I did not have one to supply. I am trying to understand why I need to supply another form of payment when my payment was already submitted. She then becomes annoyed with the fact that I am questioning her and this is where her customer service turns into the worst that I have ever seen. She tells me that the company has changed their policy and they no longer accept debit cards. I asked her why the website allowed me to pay with a debit card if they DON'T accept them. She very rudely states that the policy just changed. I told her that no where on the website does it say that and her response was "yes it does" but she refused to show me where. My boyfriend happened to have a credit card but only with a $300 limit. I asked her if we could transfer the rental amount to his credit card and she stated that the reservation would be cancelled and a new one would have to be started with today's rates and a $200 deposit. That was going to be over $600. At this point I am so frustrated I am actually in tears. We are 2 1/2 hours away from our destination and I have 2 small children and no way to get to where we're going. Out of frustration I asked her what we were suppose to do, walk there? Her response was "it's only an hour away." The fact that someone in customer service would even say this to a Mother of 2 small children in a situation that I am unable to control is baffling. She showed absolutely no remorse, and she did not apologize once. As I am standing there discussing with my boyfriend IN TEARS how we are going to get to Gainesville, she is smirking and almost laughing telling us that we could Uber or Shuttle. An Uber to where we were going was almost $300 each way. Not once did she get a manager, not once did she apologize nor explain to me the policy and why it had changed. She just stood there egging on the situation. Then she made me call the customer service line to cancel my OWN reservation. The guy I spoke with was going to offer $50 reimbursement each way for our Uber ride but that literally would not have put a dent in how much it was actually going to cost us. Luckily Alamo was next door. Their customer service was 100 times better. They saw my frustration and what had happened and offered me a HUGE discount for our troubles. I paid $253 WITH MY DEBIT CARD (it should have been over $500) for an SUV through Alamo which is $40 more than what I would have through Budget. If we were unable to rent a car that day, we would have had to camp at the airport for 4 days. Or spend a ton of money for a hotel and tell my poor kids we would not be able to see Grandma. The lack of customer skills your company has is ridiculous. And if you change a policy after someone books a rental, you as a company should honor the price, not make someone pay double because you screwed up. If you do not accept debit cards, do NOT let someone book a car with their DEBIT CARD. read more

Wish I'd heeded the previous reviews about Budget at the Springfield Airport. They are still dishonest, and RUDE to boot!! Yesterday I reserved a car online for my brother to drive from Springfield to Tulsa. My brother and I both received the confirmation via email. I even called the counter to reconfirm and advise his flight would be late. No problem she said sweetly. But when he got there an hour later, she refused to honor the reservation saying they don't do one-way rentals! He was left scrambling in the airport at 11 pm trying to find a car to get home! DO NOT!!!!! rent from dollar rent a car!!!! $ horrible service I will never rent from dollar again I had to change airports and had to drop the car off at a different location they told me one price to drop it off when I got my bill it was $650 more then what they told me when I called them up they said it doesn't matter what I was told the price is what I got and that's it nothing I can do about it my rental car bill went from a charge of $550 to $1150 just because they can. I called the corporate location they said there is nothing they can do because they are a franchisee I have to dispute it with them. The managers will not call you back I've waited for several days called numerous times and no call back the managers are always too busy to talk with you. The estimated bill charge on the receipt when you pick up the car the total price does not matter when I got my final bill numbers changed and also the prices went up by a hundred plus dollars on a couple because it was an estimated change of price. again I will never refer or rent from Dollar Thrifty or hurts again. read more
