I paid up front through 121 Car Hire When I went to collect the car from the airport they would not except anything less than deposit of - get this - 2400 euros! I had already paid for the hire so they would not provide a refund.I needed to arrange an extension to my credit card which took 4 hours. Added to this, when I got home I found that I had been charged an additional 10 Euros a day because I wanted to take the car out of the country and 3 Euros a day for winter tyres. These charges were not made clear when I took the car, in fact when I signed the agreement (in German) I asked if there were any extra charges and told there wasn't. Of course 121 Car Hire blamed Car Trawler who blamed Buchbinder who blame 121 Car Hire. I had incorrect charges added recently when I booked through Expedia and used Hertz and I got a refund from them. So unless you speak German, don't want to leave Austria, don't want a car with tyres and are prepared to take out a mortgage as a deposit - avoid all these three companies!

It's quite a leap, I know, but I was really annoyed with the service of my last taxi…read more Basically, I've used these guys many a time since the last review, their being the easiest and often cheapest taxi home for me, but on my last journey home this was far from the case. To begin with, it can sometimes be a touch intimidating catching the cab late at night from their rank as the take away next door tends to attract the drunken rowdy lot you'll often bump into on a weekend night, it's not a major problem as I'm not too worried, but it's sometimes a little much. Especially when hoards of 'rude-boys' decide to jump the queue so you go from 3rd to 9th and no one seems to stop that. In any case. Last time I hopped in, we were dropping my friend at the top of the road literally en route to my house (so it was literally just stopping for a second) and then I needed to grab some cash. Again, this was no more than two minutes literally en route to my house. As we pulled up to my door, I realised he'd not stuck the meter on. Yes, it was Friday night, but I jumped in at the rank, not randomly off the street. (And when you grab a cab from the street a price is agreed, not when you go from the rank, as I understand it.) In any case, he plucked £9.00 out of the air. It costs me less than that on a Saturday night to go from Duncan Street in a Black and White cab, let alone just off new Briggate. In fact, it costs less than that from the station. I know as I have the receipts. I told him this and he refuted that, saying that with two stops it would be £9. Again, waiting time for those stops couldn't have been more than two and a half minutes. Maybe three at a push. I argued him down to £8, which still felt like a little much and I'll probably avoid getting their taxis again for a while. The taxi before that also took me a much longer route home, as he'd not listened to where I wanted to be, so all in all it's not good. Being a pretty loyal customer I'm a little miffed.

Now I'm not always the biggest fan of taxis. However, no such problems seem to have transpired with A Metro Cars. I'm not sure how much more you can really say about a taxi service. All I want is for the cheapest fares possible, friendly staff and a driver who actually knows the area better than me. It was a winner on all accounts. Maybe my opinion would differ if I used them regularly on a Saturday night, maybe it wouldn't but I can only comment on what I've experienced which was an all round pleasant journey home.

I suspect it's about them getting to know a customer because when I use them I pay more for the same journey as one of their more regular customers. I am also unsure about the reliability claim. Last week I rang and said I needed a car immediately.' No problem, it's on it's way', I was told. 10 minutes later my daughter rang to check the eta and was told they would find a car for us soon.
