Stayed here on my recent trip to Flagstaff, the location is quite good as it's close to the downtown area which was about a 10 minute walk away, and close to the restaurants and supermarkets on Milton Road. There is a decent Indian Food Restaurant just next door as well as bun huggers which is a burger place that's a step up from fast food. The desk clerk was very polite and nice, and check in was a breeze. My room was small and very basic, but it was clean, and the tv has multiple channels for your viewing pleasure. The bed was a bit firm but not too the point of being uncomfortable. And no issues with bed bugs or roaches. Towels are very thin and small but they get the job done. The AC struggles and is noisy but it kept the room at a comfortable temperature. The shower had decent water pressure, not great but not terrible either. My main complaint would be that the room had a musty smell, and it's very bare bones. Overall not a bad place to stay, I've stayed in many motels in the area and this one isn't bad. read more

Really simple. This is a clean and comfortable economy motel that I spent a night at last week. The location is across the street from the university and not near the train tracks like several other motels here in Flagstaff. Easy and friendly check in. Well kept room with a comfortable bed. The AC worked well and the bathroom was clean. Normally I give most lodgings a 3 if they meet expectations relative to their cost. For a Budget Inn this one exceeded them. Okay, so we stay in Flag every other weekend during the winter and a couple times in the summer. We are frequent guests of the Highland down the street and are 100% convinced that the people who own that place (and 100% convinced owned by an incredible family who lives on site) also own this place. Sure, we could be wrong, but the totally dated bedding and shampoos, etc. are all the same. That seems a little too ironic. We felt like we were at the Highland and then we walked out our door and it was across from Dunkin', which is about 2 blocks away. Since they are the same to us, basic and cheap, we stay here if the price is right. It's totally budget and totally, exactly what's in the name, but safe and clean as well. read more

I still like this motel, but my last visit was disappointing. The cleaning staff used some very strong yukky-smelling cleanser, and the room was super smelly. Despite the cold weather, I opened the window to try to air out the room. And unfortunately, the heater/air system was extremely noisy. Not a great respite during a long trip. read more

As other reviewers have stated it's a basic hotel to shower & sleep nothing fancy here. We were in town for a tour of NAU and this seemed like an extremely convenient location to the campus, so based on reviews & price we booked here. Check-in was looooong. The gentleman didn't have much to say, and didn't appear to be in any kind of rush. Lots of information required. A copy was made of my license which I found odd, and then I needed to fill out a form with my personal info, plus make/model license plate # for my car. Room had a musty smell. There was some damage in the shower and what I think might have been mold? When I used the bathroom there was no toilet paper on the roll which I found odd and must have been overlooked but made me question the cleanliness of the room & the ability of the cleaning staff. I decided to wear my flip flops or socks during my stay. The comforter on my bed, was stained with god knows what. But then again, I'm afraid to sit on those hotel comforters or use them if I don't have to. I always bring my own pillow & blanket. The mattress was rock hard! I had a hard time staying asleep and when I got up for the day everything hurt. There weren't a lot of available outlets to access on our room so it was hard to charge a phone and use it at the same time. What I did like is the refrigerator. Since we were traveling it was nice to be ale to put some waters in the fridge and our fruit. The supply of soap & shampoo/conditioner was nice and the shampoo/conditioner was Pantene. There is an ice machine! So we were able to fill up our small cooler before we left. It's in between two major streets so it's a bit noisy. Also, I was woken up at 5am to the sound of the trash truck dumping a bin somewhere nearby which was annoying, but not the fault of the motel. The walls are thin, I could hear my neighbors kids late at night. Parking lot was pretty packed so I'm guessing there were a lot of people on this particular Wednesday night. Would I stay here again? That's debatable. For the price and location it was fine, and it appeared to be nicer than many of the motels we passed while driving through town, but I might spend a bit extra and stay at another place next time with a better mattress! read more

It's just about anything you'd want it to be! Inexpensive, easy to book, and easy to check into. I spent maybe 6 whole hours in here, so I wasn't wanting a Renaissance or anything. My room was just fine. Nothing about it was gross, it was just a little...antiquated. Everything worked, and when there's sleet and wind outside, you'll appreciate a quick, efficient heater. The ventilation was nonexistent though, so beware! The location isn't too bad. It was no more than a mile away from fun stuff downtown, so while there are tons of other options closer to the action, I actually didn't mind walking. Would have given it a fourth star if I were not inexplicably locked out of my room in the middle of the night. Going to the front desk at like 2:30am and waiting for the front desk to answer was no fun. I got the usual "don't leave it close to your cell phone" BS, but my friend didn't even have his on him so it's totally not on us. Would I come here again? Yeah, as some of the other seedy motels will gouge the hell out of you by virtue of being no more than a thousand feet closer to cool stuff. But next time, I think I'll pick something else and pamper myself. read more

This place was a complete dive and would never go back for the price. I was bitten by flees all night. I got stuck between a room full of Bros who pulled in at like 12pm and an old lady who was yelling for two hours on the phone. God awful. I was charged 79.95 plus tax but on my bill it was for 95$ I don't know how that works. I also paid 15$ CASH for a pet fee, but literally was eaten all night by bugs. stay clear. read more

The man at the desk was incredibly short and rude with me. He asked for my drivers license so it could be scanned. It might be worth mentioning that I booked online, so they already had my information, I'm clearly ok with giving it, and the room was paid for. That being said, I am on the cautious side, and try not to share any more than what is reasonable or necessary, considering the inordinate amount of telemarketing phone calls and mail I've received in the last year. It's ridiculous and obnoxious, and I can't help but think this is just a ploy to collect information so it can be sold to advertisers and marketers, and the only thing I get out of it is borderline harassment. So when I politely asked why my license needed to be scanned, pointing out that it seems like an additional and unnecessary step, he offered no explanation and simply told me, "I'm not gonna argue with you. You can either hand me your drivers license, or you can cancel the reservation." I pointed out what poor customer service this was, but he couldn't care less. It put me in a rather compromised position because it was Labor Day weekend in Flagstaff, and there wasn't much else to choose from in the same price range. Not to mention, my wife and I had already driven out there from Phoenix, and this is a special place for us. I proposed to her in Flagstaff. So I buckled and gave him my license. To make matters worse, he then slid a pen and a paper in front of me and asked me to fill out my information - the same information that's on the license. I felt like I was doing his job at this point, especially considering he had my license in his possession. This motel is always clean with friendly check in managers. For 70 bucks it's a great deal for a basic room. We have stayed here several times and it's been a consistently good value for us. Update a few years later and we only paid $58 as I guess January isn't a tourist season. Anyhow we like it and they let us plug in our Chevrolet Bolt overnight! read more

Absolutely 5 stars for this BUDGET Inn!!! This is exactly as it is called... a BUDGET Inn but the experience is so much more than a usual "budget" motel. The customer service clerk at the front desk was pleasant. The room was clean and had all the essentials we needed. I was even surprised that the shampoo/conditioner are Pantene! I didn't have to use my own LOL! The shower had a very good water pressure and no mold in or around the tub. The mini fridge and microwave are clean, and the bed was super comfortable. One thing in advance: stay here while its warm and silent outside. Else you might be in for a not-so-nice night. We were here shortly after Easter, and had a surprise. Booking and arrival We booked this motel by phone which worked quite fine. We arrived later, the front desk was then manned with a guy speaking a heavily accented English, which made communication a bit hard, but we worked it out eventually. Room and features The room was with two queen beds, a fridge, a microwave and a big flatscreen TV. It was big enough, though the tiles on the bathroom and sink area were a bit chilly. Big plus point was that the fridge was extremely silent, which is nice with it beeing so close to the beds. Outside you can find a soft drink vending machine as well as an ice machine - which we didn't need - since the cold came (and bothered us) anyway - see below. Surroundings The motel is located next to a lot with a gas station, pharmacy and grocery store. Several fast food joints (Chick-fil-A, Dunkin's, Chipotle, Panda Express....). It is also located at a quite frequented street. There are rooms closer and further from the large street - try to get one of the latter if you reserve your room beforehand. Beware! One thing we didn't immediately notice was, that the doors don't close properly. There is always a small opening between door and frame on all sides, except where the hinges are. That means two things. First of all: noise. The motel is located directly next to a large street with quite a lot of trucks and buses rolling by. So if you are a light sleeper - get a room far from the street and/or sleep in the bed away from the door. The second thing is the cold. At the second evening of our stay, winter hit hard and it snowed quite a lot. I've been told that that's quite common to the area - so be warned and be prepared. Due to the door's condition there was a continuous chilly draft into our room. Even with the AC hearting the room, it was not at all pleasant. We helped ourselves by "plugging the leak" with towels and quite a lot of paper tissues. These had to be removed in the morning, but it helped for the night. Also: due to the chill outside the tiles in the bathroom were even colder - and believe me, I am reasonably tolerant to cold, due to living in northen Europe. Rundown As nice as the area surrounding flagstaff is with the Grand Canyon nearby, countless national parks and monuments within a few hours driving distance and all, the budged in may not be the best place to stay while you are there. That is, unless it is warm and silent ourside. (If you now ask yourself: "Why only two stars?" - because a 3-star won't change much and the draft was *really* bitter cold!) read more

The lady at the front desk was very nice (Beatrice, I think) and the location is solid. Wifi is super quick too. Few amenities, however, and they won't give a AAA rate for the last few rooms of the night which is lame. They use unsecured wifi (tsk tsk, Budget, that makes it too easy for people to hack into your computer while using your free wifi) and don't offer any kind of breakfast, not even those crappy continentals. On a last minute trip to escape the Phoenix heat, we came up not knowing if we would stay the night or not. When I looked online everything was super high priced, which was expected. We I went on Yelp and looked and found a decent rate for Budget Inn. We drove by to check it out and asked how much for a room. It was higher than what I found Yelp, but considering it was one of the last rooms available and for $120 we took it after we looked at it first. The room was very clean, including the bathroom. This is a no frills kind of place, so no coffee pot, but it did have a small fridge and microwave. No pool either. Beds were OK, but quite firm for someone who is used to a memory foam mattress. The staff was very nice. For the price, this is a good value, but don't expect luxury. read more

Our family of 6 adults, rented 3 rooms at the Budget Inn, in early March. This is a clean, comfortable place to stay, at a Bargain price! The exterior could use a little brightening up, but don't let that deter you. Check in was efficient & pleasant. The rooms were very clean, beds comfortable & all the basic amenities you need, provided (heat, ac, toiletries, nice shower, microwave & refrigerator). Pleasantly surprised with our stay here. It looks a little shady from the outside but it's really not! We were here on a Friday night. It was quiet, and the bed was comfortable. I'm glad I brought extra pillows, but I'm a pillow person. I need several :) I'm not sure if breakfast was offered, but we went to the Dunkin right across the street. This place is close to lots of restaurants, gas stations, and NAU. The room was all redone on the inside. Not bad at all. We didn't hear any noises or too much outside. Dirty carpet but not as dirty as some 5 star hotels in Las Vegas, Nv (The Paris Hotel (it had Black mold on the bathroom walls and I was greeted with dust bunnies at the door).This place is a cut above the Paris Hotel and way cheaper. We were a little aprehensive about staying here because it was so cheap. I guess the other hotels must have been closer to the college or something. But it was just a decent hotel room. It was a little old and it looked like it had been recently renovated. But we had a decent stay. But it's not like we wanted to spend a whole lot of time in our room anyway. the room was clean and the parking lot was fine. You could hear the train go past a few times but it wasn't too bad. I would recomend booking well in advance and try avoiding big NAU weekends. It made everything else in Flagstaff corowded the whole weekend. read more

I called around Flagstaff and almost all of the hotels were booked (week between Christmas and New Years), but this place had $60 for a double room, all seems to be pretty recently built (say, 10 years ago), nothing broken or poorly fixed-up in the room. Nice 30" LG LCD TV, free wifi (writing this review from the room), refrigerator, microwave. Super clean room; nonsmoking and smells like nonsmoking. Very friendly staff with good restaurant recommendations. I'm not sure what Flagstaff standards are, but I've stayed at like 20 low-cost motels around Lake Tahoe, and this one better put together than any of them. One of the better deals in Flagstaff. Only about a mile from downtown. Clean rooms, comfy beds. Microwave and refrigerator in room, which is always important to us with a young child (milk and snacks a must). Otherwise, just the basics which is all we really need. Business appears to be family owned/operated and they are very friendly. No pets. Some noise from car wash next door, but not significant. My boyfriend and I came here after a camping mishap. We traveled to the Flagstaff area during the late winter (early March) in search of dispersed camping, which, not to our knowledge was closed that time of year. So, late at night after being fed up with searching for a campsite, we ventured into town and found the Budget Inn. There was no problem getting a room, which was nice, and the man at the front counter didn't seem to mind us coming in late at night. The only thing that was a bit frustrating was that he was on the phone the whole time we checked in. The thing that warrants the three stars in this review is the quality of the rooms. I honestly expected this place to be a complete hole in the wall. But to our surprise, it was extremely clean (we used our own blankets and sheets, though, just out of hotel habit), with a what seemed to be brand new bathroom. The room comes with your own adjustable heater/AC which is also nice. Other amenities include: -Microwave -Refrigerator -Telephone (additional price for outgoing calls not to hotel) -Television with HBO The only thing that somewhat bothered me about this visit was the price. It cost us, after tax, $67 to stay the night. Not bad, at all. But the next day after venturing in to downtown Flagstaff, we found out that historic hotels like the Weatherford and Hotel Monte Vista only charged about $49/$59 per night for their smallest rooms.
