I only realized it because I received a notification from my bank. When I asked about it, I was told it was a "security deposit" that would be refunded after checkout as long as I didn't use any hotel amenities. On top of that, they charge $35 per night for parking, which I avoided by parking on the street. I checked out, didn't use any chargeable amenities, and I'm still waiting for my $100 refund. Another disappointment was the room. I specifically requested a room with a downtown view. When I asked the front desk if that's what I was getting, I was told, "Yes, it should be." I got to my room and it was literally facing the complete opposite direction. If a downtown view wasn't available, they could have just been honest instead of telling me it should be and letting me find out for myself. Overall, the lack of transparency with the extra charges and the misleading information about the room left a bad impression. If you're going to charge an additional $100 at check-in, tell guests before you run their card. And if you can't accommodate a room request, just say so. The first night and last night the TV didn't work and we had to get Netflix for any entertainment, but other than that, everything was fine, worthy of at least 3 stars until the last day...a construction crew starts jack hammering at 0900 on the connecting to our room... no warning or heads up from anyone --just jackhammering so loudly we could not hear ourselves speaking. I complained to the front desk and they said they would move us after my daughter's prelims that morning1000-1100. I asked him why they didn't warn us about the construction and he said he didn't know. So I told them we would be back at 1100. When we got back at 1115- the front desk said they didn't need to move us because the construction crew was done and wouldn't bother us. I reminded him she needed peace and quiet to sleep soundly before finals. He assured me there would be no issue and they were "done for the day". After she fell asleep (no jack hammering but loud scraping began that we found out was shoveling and digging what they had jackhammered already-- all of this was on the wall adjoining our room... when you pass by, you could see exactly what they were doing and where they were doing it. My husband went to complain to the front desk who supposedly told them to stop. They only stopped for 10 minutes and began again very loudly. I went out and told them to stop or move to a wall not next to where my daughter was sleeping because they woke her up... he said "who's going to pay me for my missed work". I told him he needed to take that up with the hotel and he said no that I needed to take it up with the hotel. I then informed the front desk again who had an oblivious look on his face even though there was no way he didn't hear the noise... so it's ridiculous that the guest has to try to talk to the workers when he assured me it was handled. My husband also talked to the font desk again and he said they were "leaving" but for another 30 minutes we heard banging and doors closing and opening loudly-- nothing like we had heard all week which had been peaceful up until that point. We were going to stay one more night (Tuesday until Sunday) but we just checked out and will go home where it is peaceful-- then drive back tomorrow for the rest of the events. This is unsatisfactory. We have never had such a disrespectful and disruptive stay at the hundreds of hotels we have stayed at for her swimming. The construction people--though very rude-- are not the problem.. the problem is why did Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Austin at Reinli Street allow this room to be booked at the same time as construction? To add insult to injury when we checked out a full day early because of all of this nonsense and frustration, a different front desk clerk had an attitude with us and when we said that the treatment was unacceptable she said US making the construction workers stop what they were doing and "miss out on a days work" was what was "unacceptable"??? Are you kidding me? So we pay to rest, relax, and sleep in a room and we are unable to do so because they are greedy and overbooked and we are the problem? Unbelievable. Do better.

We got a 1 bedroom with a den that had a queen bed. Although the den did not have an actual door or privacy, what we got in amenities made up for it. There was a weird incident where we walked in on 2 employees who appeared to be engaged in gratuitous acts moments before we attempted to open the door. Although, maybe we were mistaken...we all just got an odd vibe from the two employees (one behind a closed bedroom door we found after talking with the first employee for over 5 minutes) and the other changing the password on the lock (from the inside of the room?--/he had to exit to do this after we entered the room). We had requested an early check in, so it was weird to find anyone hanging out there, playing "peek-a-boo" with grown guests at the initial check in. But the final total for a 4 night stay amounted to $1741.90...and considering the location...the amenities...the layout of the room...it was worth it! Just a warning: while the rooms are equipped with full kitchens, there aren't basic items like salt, oil, cutting boards (although one was brought to us after a text) to do any substantial cooking. But, who doesn't love a room where you can actually wash laundry BEFORE heading home?

After chatting with an agent they informed me that by booking direct I could get a deal and I canceled my original booking and booked directly through them with a savings around $250. I had a few questions prior to arriving and every time I texted an agent I received an answer almost immediately. This type of communication continued throughout our stay. The accommodations were pristine. I am extremely picky and honestly was nervous about staying here as it isn't our typical type of accommodations when we travel, but I could not have been happier. The apartment was huge. It was spotless and everything looked brand new. While we didn't cook there, the kitchen was fully stocked with what you would need to make a meal. There was a French press! There were extras like coffee, hot sauce, tampons; they thought of everything you might not have thought of. We spent hours listening to the eclectic record collection thy provided, so fun! Also, the neighborhood was super cool. We ate from some crazy good food trucks (rolling smoke, bomb tacos), checked out an awesome dive bar (the white horse) and found it completely walkable to the downtown area. The staff is super friendly especially the night desk clerk and when you wake up there's a free breakfast to start your day! Stay here before everyone finds out. It's a real gem. It is such a nice, quiet park in a country atmosphere with very friendly owners. Sites are well maintained and laundry facilities are exceptional. The bath houses are currently under construction. The owners are very conscientious about maintaining and improving the grounds and providing a tranquil, well kept campground for their renters.
