Couch is dirty as you can see the dark spots
    Manuel V.

The check in process was easy, quick and no issues, once check in was completed we got to the room and it looked great. The next morning I did notice that the couch and the ottoman were stained from what looks like water and there were obvious dark spots on the head and armrest. Looking under the desk in the middle of the room the carpet looked as if it was beginning to wear and that the vacuum had possibly sucked up the carpet and tore a piece out of it. The pool and hot tub looked amazing however were not utilized due to time constraints. The white curtain in the room nearest to the bed did have a large stain on the bottom of it as if someone had dropped pizza or left a red stain on it. The breakfast was the best part of the hotel as I did enjoy what was being served and there were plentiful of food and not having to wait in lines of for food to be filled up was a bonus. I would stay here again and the items I mentioned will be fixed for the next visit.

Pros Clean rooms, and a great location. 1.5 miles away from downtown Bastrop, very close to the Colorado River, and 10 miles away from Bastrop and Buescher State Parks. HEB Plus and a Walmart are within walking distance, along with many fast food and table service restaurants. In room coffee maker, but no mini fridge, or microwave. Hampton Inn & Suites seem to be random about the mini fridges and microwaves in the room - sometimes they have them, other times, they don't. I'll let you know when I figure out the pattern. Cons NOISY! Get a room on the top floor if you can. You can hear the people upstairs stomping around all night, and again in the morning when you wake up. It's bad. One morning during my visit, I was awakened by two women talking loudly (no, they weren't in my room). It sounded like they were right outside of my door, but they weren't. They must have been in an adjacent room, but it was CRAZY loud. Not sure if this is a pro or a con, but your stay includes a free breakfast. Depending on the day of the week, this chain serves pre-made omelets (yuk), or scrambled eggs (powdered eggs), and bacon, or processed sausage patties. There's a waffle maker, a little bit of fruit, and a variety of cereal. I used the phone app to check in, so I had no interaction with staff. I walked in and walked out, so I can't comment on the customer service aspect.

Worse than motel 6!!! Terrible all the way around. If I could give a quarter of a star I would. This is going to be a bit long but honest. Upon arrival the hotel had a distinct smell of mold and must like stinky armpits. It was my first time staying at Hilton rather than Marriott so I wasn't sure what to expect and brushed it off. I traveled to bastrop and stayed here with my family when we got news that my siblings mother passed away. I made sure to let them know we were there due to a death and to plan funeral services. There was an issue with the physical key, we had to ask for a new one 3/4 times. That's no big deal I could look past that. After a while we wanted to go to the less than average, half star pool in attempt to distract our minds from everything. My mobile key and physical key would not open the pool door. After many attempts we went to the front desk and Katie acted as though we were bothering her -- she had a terrible attitude and simply walked away ignoring me after opening the door. Ok sure I can look past the attitude we all have bad days. 5-10 minutes later I wanted to go outside, so I tried going out of the exit door in the same room as the pool. It would not open and by that time I had seen so many flaws that I again brushed it off and decided to wait. Heather -- who clearly uses hard drugs like meth or fentanyl and is a front desk MANAGER came to the pool area to speak to us. She had a very aggressive attitude and was 100% unprofessional. She said that the exit door is to remained closed at all times. *Maybe you guys should put a sign up that we can't exit through there so that guests will know that instead of being expected to know.* She then began saying there are police officers staying in the hotel and then insinuated that we were using marijuana?????? She truly needs to work on how she speaks to guest. After that we decided to go back to the room so we wouldn't be bothered anymore. THEN HEATHER CAME KNOCKING ON OUR ROOM DOOR to bother us AGAIN. She aggressively started telling us that there are officers staying at the hotel as if she was nervous about that and then proceeded to insinuate my family uses marijuana. I got harassed by Katie and Heather the entire time we were there. The next morning I went to the front desk and spoke with Nathaniel. I asked if I could please speak with a manager to discuss my experience and honestly just how baffled I was by all of this. Michelle the assistant manager refused to speak with me twice. She said I need to wait 45 minutes until the general manager was there. After 45 minutes I went to ask if the GM was available. Michelle said no they are in a very important meeting. I asked to speak with michelle then and told her I only had a few minutes because I needed to be at the funeral home to discuss arrangements. She essentially told me "that's just how they are". She also began getting aggressive and smart assy. I also told her that the tiles in our bathroom were sticking out and move when you walk on them. The cover to the ac unit was broken and fell off multiple times randomly. The paint on the wall is patched and different colors. The awful smell. The missing caulk in the restroom. The issue with the room key etc. She tried making numerous excuses and said she will have a meeting with Heather and Katie. I honestly thought Hilton was comparable to Marriott (since there are no marriotts in this town), but NOT AT ALL. The Hampton inn is comparable to a motel 6, super 8, or just any other old rinky dink trashy cheap hotel. They should not be charging so much money for such an awful broken down hotel with terrible staff. You can tell the staff is from Shiloh by the way they act and treat you. I don't even recall seeing them smile once. If you don't like your job, find a new one. Be more respectful of people who are grieving especially 16 and 18 year olds who just lost their mother. If you are still reading this I genuinely hope you save yourself the stress and stay somewhere else. I wish I had taken more pictures of all the flaws. Do better...

I would hope so. Never found a post-it in my hotel room before...

A fine place to stay if you ever find yourself in Bastrop, Texas. Seems well-kept. Clean and comfy. Free breakfast and free wifi. I particularly like the equipment in the fitness room that includes fans to cool you off during your time on a treadmill or elliptical.

I was greeted as a Hilton Honors member and check in was quick. Staff was friendly both at check in and as I dropped off the keys at checkout. The room was clean, fresh and plenty of electrical plugs and space. The water pressure in the shower was great and hot water was almost immediate. It was a quiet, restful night in a good bed. Breakfast was good with some great fruit and a good selection of warm and cold items. The breakfast area had a good atmosphere and we ended up visiting with a few other guests during breakfast. We left feeling refreshed and ready for the day ahead. A wonderful stay!

Customer service is not great, it seemed it was based on race. Room service is horrible! Rooms are not cleaned how they should be and on my last night staying I discovered a bed bug! Don't waste your time booking here. Try the comfort suites right beside it!

Not impressed with this Hampton Inn!! We had reserved a room with two queen beds. Check in was easy since we had checked in online prior to arrival. Got to our room and had to call down and ask for a fridge. We were told that since it was a newer hotel they weren't required to supply a fridge in the room but would go ahead and bring one up. About an hour later still no fridge and we needed to leave so called again and the desk staff was more polite and arranged to have it brought up quickly. Fridge they brought looked like something from a scratch and dent sale! Luckily it worked fine. Also had to request drinking cups and extra TP since none in room. Being a Hampton Inn run by Hilton we expected a much nicer room and we're disappointed in this one. Down the hall there was another banged up fridge similar to the one they put in our room that stayed out in the hallway all night and was still there when we checked out. Also the shower head was pulling out from the wall and had the cold and hot switched; hot lever gave cold water and vice versa; made for an interesting shower needless to say!! Have honestly had nicer stays at less expensive hotel chains. The staff seemed to try but just not pleased with this hotel.

Room walls are peeling and windows are dirty room is a little shabby

They botched our reservation and charged us for a "no show" for another 2 rooms for 2 nights. (We pointed it out and were told the charges would be reversed but we've haven't yet seen our credit card bill to confirm.) We learned that others at the wedding booked on-line and laid mush less. Silly us. The rooms were perfectly mediocre but the bathroom sink aerator was faulty and sprayed all over the counter with normal use. We reported it to the desk but nothing was done. On our second night, the push-button toilet wouldn't flush without lifting the lid pushing directly on the interior mechanism. We give this 2-star hotel 2 stars (rather than 1) to acknowledge the front desk staff people, who were lovely. They - and you -can do better.

Yes, I understand there are families with young children and need to have everyone in one room but when it's four adults and about four to five unruly kids that's ridiculous. The manager asked to call the office if there were issues but even when that was done, nothing changed. I will never stay at this establishment again. Worse place ever.

When breakfast is advertised I expect a breakfast to help get me going in the morning, especially when we pay more for it . And we expect it to feed at least a family of 4! There were cigarette burns in the sheets and several several several beer bottles and cigarettes on the balcony by the room doors. Crickets made themselves at home all over the inside and outside areas. The pool was too dark after dark, all though the sign said it is open till 10pm.

Lots of ice without a bad flavor. We saw not a single roach, sad if you are hoping to see all the ones mentioned in other reviews. If it makes you feel better, we did have 3 moody flies that kept to themselves. The room was clean at first sight. When you start to look closely, you find all the things you see at any older motel off the highway in a small town for a room under $100 a night. So why bother to inspect so closely and act all uppity in shock when you find these standard issues? Oh, yeah, because we are some entitled SOBs, aren't we? Yes, this is an older hotel in need of an update, but then where would we stay for under $100 a night? Oh, my. There are other places in town not as much in need of these updates. The outlet between the beds was as loose as my girlfriend. The plug kept falling out like her 10th baby. But there was another outlet just behind the night stand. The air from the air conditioner fills up the curtains like a tramp's skirt on a subway grate, so bring some old books to prop against them so the air gets into the room, instead. The roaches will appreciate a cooler room. It was a quiet room. We played annoying music but no one complained. Our fridge was missing a leg and each time we opened it it lurched at us like a brain-starved zombie. Made for a fun game of catch the beer before it tumbles out. They cleverly removed the smoke detector to let us assume that our room was being watched by a 2 way mirror instead of a hidden cam. We had no black mold in the room, so when we woke up coughing, we had to blame it on the pot we dreamed of smoking instead. The light in the bathroom didn't work, so we couldn't see the blood stains on the shower curtain. It was so disappointing. There were no bedside lamps, so the lighting wasn't as comfy as the places in town that charge a few dollars more. So go stay at those places if this is going to be an issue. The water was hot enough we could have boiled lobsters in the tub. Thank goodness there was a knob to control the heat. I didn't say the knob stayed on the whole time, but we got a room for under $100 a night. I can deal with a shower water knob falling off. There were some stains on the bottom part of my mattress. If they were sex stains, I sure would like to meet the folk responsible. They got some talented positions to make those in the locations I saw. The beds were comfy and each had 3 pillows. Great for the big egos that stay here. I'm so glad to hear the people say they won't stay there again. I would hate to come across them next time I do. They complain about the small seating area for the breakfast, like you can't take the packaged danishes and cup of coffee to the room to keep the bugs entertained while they watch you eat. There was a pregnant woman who complained the place was so bad I think she miscarried.

There's no elevator, so you have to lug your bags upstairs if you get a room on the second level. And the free breakfast consisted of two types of cereal, the usual "make your own" waffle stuff, prepackaged pastries and coffee. There was no tea and not much selection in general. On the positive side, we stayed in several hotels during our trip to Texas and this one had one of the largest rooms of the bunch. It also came with both a fridge and a microwave which is a huge plus in my book. And like I said, it's cheap. It cost us half the price to stay here that we'd been paying in other hotels. And though everything was pretty run down, I have to admit that the room was clean. ... Oh, and the wifi worked like a charm. That's another thing that was better here than many of the other hotels we were in, but I'm guessing that's in large part because the kind of clientele that this hotel serves probably doesn't hop online all that often. There is a pool, but we didn't have time to check it out. I only stayed in this hotel because everything anywhere near Austin was full thanks to SXSW. While I've experienced better, I have to say that for the money, this is a pretty decent deal. Just be prepared to jiggle the door if you want to lock it. And bring your own breakfast.
