(If zero stars were an option...)
I picked the car up in October 2016, as scheduled, and I was in a particular rush to get home in order to make it to a memorial for a family member who passed away. I was verbally prompted to check boxes as I answered the desk attendant who rushed me through the signing process. I did not request $100s of dollars of extra insurance, although my paperwork states otherwise. Unfortunately, at my admitted responsibility, I didn't re-read the final print-out. I did a thorough check of the car, tires, and lights. In order to keep my statement handy for my return, I placed the entire packet in my visor and drove to my final destination. I returned the car on time, without a scratch, and fully fueled. As the clerk scanned the car, he exclaimed "Wow! $750.03 that's quite the charge". I figured there must have been some egregious computer error! I would never agree to $750.03 for a rental car for an extended weekend trip! At that point, I didn't have time to argue with anyone, lest I miss my flight. The clerk assured me that he would make a note of it and have someone email me.
That, of course, didn't happen.
I am a smart and reliable driver who has insurance, AAA, and a clear record. There was no need for me to have supplemental insurance, and certainly not to the extent of which would cover a month's rent. So, I called Indianapolis Airport Budget directly, and I ended up speaking with Manager, Eric Sablan, about this predicament, at length. He assured
me that he would file an "806 adjustment request", and he said that it would take a couple weeks to be applied. Eric gave me his email, and I thanked him for all of his help. Mind you, this was in October. On November 2nd, roughly 2 weeks after speaking with Eric, I wrote to him to follow-up. He didn't reply. I wrote again on November 6th. Eric replied on November 7th, assuring me that he would "check into this when he returned to work". Still, I heard nothing. I wrote, again, on November 14th. Nothing. I wrote, yet again, on November 18th. I still have nothing. No phone call and certainly no response email from Eric. I forwarded the entire email string, once again, on November 21st. I tried to get through to the Indianapolis Airport Service Desk, but the automated message continually re-directed me to the "Worldwide Service Line". I called corporate, and they finally, gave me the direct Customer Service Line for Budget. It was at that time that I spoke with Phil who informed me to send all of this information to a "documentation email address". This entire fiasco has left me more than frustrated, but what's worse is the blatant rudeness & unprofessional nature of Budget and their employees. read more
