Great location & view. Walking distance to everything. I like staying in places that have historic association. I was informed that the Tombstone Motel used to be a stable or livery or something like that. One part of the building is older than the rest. Several locals recommended it as the place to stay. There is a Holiday Inn Express and Best Western (?) nearby but they charge $100+ compared to the $49 that we paid (ask for a AAA discount) and they are on the outskirt of town. The room itself was a little scary. Not because of the ghosts (which I was hoping for), but because it wasn't the most clean of places. The rug hadn't been shampooed in like 20 years and had that hard bristly feel to it. I looked carefully under the mattress for bedbugs and didn't see any, but my instincts told me that sleeping in the bed was questionable - so I slept on top of the covers. My mom told me that her sheets didn't seem freshly washed - most hotel sheets have that crisp bleach scent to them. The posters in the room were glued directly to the wall. The bathroom was a bit is disrepair. The toilet lid fell off and the shower area made me wish I brought shower shoes. While my mom didn't think it was funny, I thought it was interesting that the wall clock in the room only had a minute and second hand (no hour) - but then again, I'm easily amused. The room was inexpensive which I liked and although we didn't have a window in the room, the view from the driveway was spectacular - looking out onto a wide plain with a mountain at the end (where Geronimo had hid out). The people in the check in office were nice and helpful. They have Morgan's Pizza on site (which also serves breakfast), but we didn't try it. If it was so bad, will I stay there again? Very old school hotel. They even give you an actual key to open your door instead of a card. But I thought this detail fit the overall Tombstone atmosphere. The room was nicely decorated with cowboys and Western movie posters. The place is also within walking distance of Allen Street, with all the stores, landmarks, and other attractions. However - My room had no telephone and no heating system (there was just an AC, which I had no use for in December). I was freezing that night! There was no WiFi, which irritated me to no end. They put me in a room in the far back of the building. They had some shady-looking fellows walking around, so I didn't venture out past night. read more

The gf and I stayed here for one night and had no complaints with the motel. We weren't flipping out with amazement by it, but when when is a motel ever absolutely all-enthralling? We liked it quite a bit, though. The service was satisfactory and the room was smaller but nice. The price was fairly low and overall we'll likely stay here again on our next visit to Tombstone, AZ. We'll also recommend them to other travellers. Keep up the good work, guys! P.S. Morgan's Pizza (same ownership?), which a part of this motel, is a very decent quick stop for grub (including breakfast). I recommend 'em. read more

This place is a dump! First they lost our reservation even after talking to them 3x.over a year. Then they put us in a VERY SMALL room. Wires coming out of the ceiling for smoke detector that wasn't there, trip hazard at the entry to room and bathroom with carpeting coming up, light fixtures with no covers, holes in wall and top of dresser, no stoppers in tub or bathroom sink, 1 ply toliet paper (which we had to ask for more), Ice bucket with hole in bottom, room dirty. read more

I really liked this cozy little Inn! It is very quaint and western/ Tombstone themed and just about a block away from Tombstones main street. The room was clean, and the pillows and bed were comfortable and soft; not a firm mattress, but I slept well. The rooms are a little outdated, but this IS Tombstone and you are only a BLOCK away from it! There are only 2 soap pump dispensers, one in the bathroom and one in the shower, so bring your own shampoo, conditioner and soap. The bathroom towels are very large for a motel, which is GREAT. There was also no refrigerator in our room, 502, but there are rooms that have them. We had a cooler, so it was no problem. No coffeemaker or Kleenex in the room either. There ARE other, more expensive places to stay, but none at this price point and location, (it was about $92 a night, taxes included), you just can't beat it. It's a warm and safe hotel if you need something simple. It's not necessarily cheap. Two adults for two queen beds was over $90 on a Monday. There is an old style TV in the room that gets about 8-9 fuzzy channels. Clean room and linens. The towels in the bathroom were like sandpaper. But after to use them you can sport that rough, Wyatt Earp look. No coffee pot but you can walk over to the office and get some for free. Everything in this town is walkable. Main Street and a couple of bars and eateries are literally a block away. This is a tourist town and given that I'd probably stay here again if I ever pass through. It's nice to see local businesses and not big corporate America chains. read more

We recently stayed three nights in the Budget Host Inn July 2018. Being off season the entire area was very quiet. The positive factors: 1) LOCATION. Perfect for walking to the main attractions of Tombstone. 2) FRIENDLY SERVICE. Joey checked us in and when I discovered that our room did not have a refrigerator I asked if there was ice to keep things cold in my travel cooler. Unfortuately the ice maker had just recently broke down and was awaiting repair. Joey immediately upgraded our room to the suite that included a refrigerator, microwave & coffeepot at no extra charge. During the remaining days Joey responded positively to all of our requests for extra towels, a pillow & coffee supplies. 3) CLEAN ROOM. Room was average in decor but more importantly clean, no evidence of bugs, no smoke smell and I found the bed and pillows in this room just the perfect firmness. I slept better here than in my own bed! 4) A/C WORKED GREAT. The older A/C units that were pictured in previous reviewer's post have been replaced with the more modern A/C & Heat units. 5) WI-Fi worked for me without problems. The negative factors: 1) Missing the extra's that today's traveler has come to expect such as individual soaps, shampoo, tissues. The room did have an iron and small ironing board but no hair dryer. However, I was traveling with my own toiletries and hair dryer so it was no big deal. 2) Phone in room did not work. I was told that an electrical storm had damaged the system beyond economical repair. You will need to use your cell phone to reach the front desk during and after hours. Suggestions to hotel: remove the phones from the rooms (or at least post a reason why not working) and provide the number(s) to call for front desk/service. Upgrade to better soap products and perhaps a posted note in bathroom as to how to activate the shower. I personally had never seen where you pull down on the tip of the tub downspout which looks like a decorative ring. Overall: Nothing fancy but decent accomodations & friendly staff in a favorable location. read more

This hotel is conveniently located only one short block from the historical district. When we checked in, BARRY took out a map and enthusiastically started pointing out many must-see places. To make it easier for us he even circled them, used a highlighter & even wrote upside down (for him-it was the right way for us). You could tell that he loved his job & loved working with the public. I love Tombstone. My wife loves Tombstone. I do assume that the McLaury family is not a big fan of the place though, on account of the whole O.K. Corral incident many, many years back. You know, with the whole shootout and deaths and all. Not my problem. First trip me and the wife took to Tombstone we stayed here a few years back. Decided to recreate the magic on our trip back here last month. First off, the name is Budget Host Inn. My heart wants to give the place 5 stars due to good memories, but from a consumer standpoint we are somewhere around 3 stars. Lets just call it 3 and change. Lets start off with the good points, because I feel as time moves along this place will get kicked in the nuts by other people as this whole internet thing continues to catch on. Location is great to check out all the awesome and campy tourist things on Allen street. Both times at check in was polite and quick, even were given suggestions of things going on over the weekends we were there. You can also park right in front of your room. Room was clean, ice bucket and disposable cups on the ready. AC unit cooled the place off pretty quick. Always greeted with a smile at check-in and check-out. For the location to do awesome Tombstone things and stumble back all Doc Holiday drunk, you are good to go. Not that we did that or anything. Now, lets state the obvious. If you haven't caught on the name is the Budget Host Inn. Budget. Host. Inn. The soap is some sort of weird green diluted material that seemed to be powerless in masking the odor that came from my armpits, feet, and genitals. They are in these weird containers that have a Budget Host Inn sticker placed all crooked on them. Also, no shampoo or conditioner is provided. No hair dryer but what the hell do I care about that? There are some wooden coat hangers on the wall that would be best described as some kids 8th grade shop class project. Pillows were nothing you would find in an L.L. Bean catalog. Room turn down was good to go both times we have stayed here and our stuff in the room was not touched. Also has cable t.v. on some sort of older t.v. with no free porno movies. Did not have a bedbug issue like a previous poster either time staying here and the rooms did not smell like urine. I am a simple man but have always ranked a urine stench free room as a plus. I would say just bring your own soap and hairdryer (whatever the hell that thing is) and you will be fine. We plan on coming back to Tombstone every 2 years or so and won't bother looking for another place, we will just book here for good price and great location. read more

It's old...but it's clean as it can be for an old hotel. This was the only hotel that was available and we've been on the road for over 8-1/2 hours. It's weird and noisy, had a very uneasy feeling about this place, but it's in an excellent location. It's about a stone's throw from all the attractions. There's a ice machine and vending machine to the north, in a poorly lit area. We got here late, like around 7:00 pm, the town was already winding down and all the other hotels were booked. The rooms are decent, but I was afraid of bed bugs, slept on to of the comforter and didn't crawl into the sheets. The wifey was too scared to walk around bare footed, but I did...no critters on the floor but did see a moth flying around. The walls are thin and I did hear people talking and walking around....hope that's what it was because I heard that this place was haunted. I did wake up around 3am or my kid's video game controller that moved and lit up, the kiddo was sleeping...that's what made me google haunted hotels of tombstone. Later when we were getting up, my wife did say that she felt someone touched her leg and I did feel like I walked into spiderwebs, but I didn't find any. The kids didn't sleep well, they had an uneasy feeling about this place, but I'm a light sleeper too and there was a lot of noise from the roads, people talking, faucets turning on, and people walking around the outside wooden walkway. I guess if it's the only place to stay, then by all means, go for it. I wouldn't stay here again, maybe in the next town with more modern amenities and more options for dining. read more

Horrible!!!!! I booked through hotel.com and later found out that it was 30 mins off my path of travel. Called customer service to request to keep my reservation but switch to a different location and was told I could not alter my reservation. So... I drove 30 mins out of my way. Then I arrive to find that the hotel is closed. There is no one in the office and not a single car in the parking lot. I had to go to another local hotel and luckily they had a room available last minute. Hotels.com confirmations and/or booking did not make mention of having to check I'm by any specific time. After driving 5 hours to get here, this mishap was a major one. Funny thing is I also went to review them on Facebook and anything other than positive ratings are blocked. read more

This is where we usually stay. This last weekend, I booked the room because it was 73.00 for the king room. When I got there Saturday, the man behind the desk said, 95.00. I inquired as to why and he said my room was cancelled. I asked when did that happen- he said earlier this morning.( I never got any email confirming that). When I asked why he said it was a computer glitch. He said he gave me an upgrade - WHAT??When is 95.00 for the same room I reserved for 73.00 an upgrade??? I stayed because at that point I already got there. Next morning the man before me was checking out- new old man behind the desk asks the customer how he got his room for so cheap? Two nights for 90.00. The man said he booked it through OYO. The clerk said they lost 20,000.00 so far this year- so that is why my booking was cancelled. The hotel cancelled it then charged me more. Had the first guy been honest, I may be more understanding. Will never stay there again and they only get 1 star because I have to put something. read more

STAY AWAY! I have never been more disgusted with a hotel! My family and I have been coming here for years and never did I have an experience like this with no help from the hotel. Upon arrival we had cockroach's all over the place, ceiling falling down, refrigerator and ice machine not working, did not have enough bed sheets or blankets to sleep all the beds. You had to sleep with your socks tucked into your pants so the bed bugs, mites, cockroach's, or whatever else critter might have got in did not crawl up your pants. After seeing all this my family still looks past it and stays without asking for anything! Then I receive a voicemail warning me to be quite and not to disturb other guest. We were not eve at the hotel when he called!!! Not to mention my family stories could not be more upsetting then the drunk man all about beating his drunk wife on the balcony across from us. The next day Berry actually has the nerve to try and yell at us for being to loud and playing music on a radio and guest where complaining. Well guess what Berry! I have complaints as long as my arm I haven't yelled at you about so kick rocks! And the best part of this whole stay is we actually paid $200 a night to stay there!!! Which we must have got charged extra for the " experience package" bc it came with blood stained carpet, couch's my great grandparents would have owned, chairs that you fell through when you sat in them! Wifi does not work in rooms with an error code that says out of range. The room appeared to not have been cleaned since Earp was alive. Yuk! It did have nice hot water and a great location but at Sixty something a night it is a ripoff. Of course maybe this is a steal in Tombstone, which is a tourist trap type of place. I went into this knowing that I shouldn't expect much, so I was surprised the Motel offered free WiFi to guests. The only caveat is that you need to be within 15 ft of the front office to use it. The best thing the Motel has going for it besides the price, is the location, which is less than a minute walk from Tombstone's saloons and shops. Be warned though that this is definitely not the cleanest of places - I found 2 small spiders in my room during my stay. All-in-all, you get what you pay for! read more

It's a motel in Tombstone & it's cheap. There's nothing fancy & they don't have a free breakfast but it was clean with no critters. Our room was a pretty decent size with 2 beds & a sofa. The best part is the location. You can stay further up the road in a fancier hotel but from here it's only 1 block to the heart of Tombstone near the Longhorn, Crystal Palace, & Big Nose Kate's. We've stayed here several times because of the easy walk to town... Even did a group trip for New Years once. So if you're just looking for a place to put your head... You'll do fine here. read more

Three stars for A-OK! After a sleepless night in Chiricahua Nat'l Forest (my fault, under-equipped for the cold), this cheap-looking dive hotel was a welcome sight. After a fun chat with the lady at the counter they put my brother and I in "their best room" upstairs on the end, with a view of sweeping Tombstone (the non-historical part) below. Shower needs caulking, drain drains slow, and the door appeared to have been kicked in by someone and boogered together. All that and I still think this was a really good hotel and I recommend it for a safe and clean stay. Tell you what--the coffee maker was an old Mr. Coffee, so you can put in your gourmet sh*t (you know you bring it when you travel, right?) and make excellent coffee--as opposed to the Keurig device the $350 room the next night had--terrible coffee in comparison. A spongy bed, but clean and quiet. Sometimes the real value isn't where you'd expect it. Wi-Fi works, too. Not super well, but it works. Mary S.'s room must have been in a different wing and different people must have been on duty, because I felt right at home and enjoyed my stay in this funky budget motel in Tombstone. The management is great, the man who checked us in (Barry) was very friendly. The room was extremely clean, it had a king sized bed and the room was huge. My only complaints are they need to supply the tiny bar soap instead of liquid hand soap, there should be four towels with a double occupancy and four pillows instead of 3. I have been staying here for 6 years and it gets worse every year. We like it because we have a huge group of bikes that go down every year at the end of April. Not exactly sure what happened on my last trip but I had bug bites all over my body appearing during the week following so I assumed it was BED BUGS! Didn't notice anything until a few days after returning from a 3 night stay. I had bites appearing all over my body and didn't know why so figured I would call the hotel and the night clerk said they were treating the room I was in for BED BUGS. I was nice, not complaining and he was nice and honest about it. I had emailed pictures to the motel of my bites and when I stayed and the manager emailed me back stating that I was wrong and if I had been bitten by bed bugs I would have known immediately and they would have given me a full refund. However it was his employee that TOLD ME they had bed bugs and after looking up info at the centers of disease control website here: http://www.cdc.gov/parasites/bedbugs/faqs.html it is a fact that the bites DO NOT appear immediately and can take up to 2 weeks to appear so I am certain that is where I got the bites. Ron told me "Bed Bug bites are like a bee sting, you know it at the time of the bite not a few days later. " However, that statement is totally false. In his email, someone named Ron implied that I was lying and didn't know what I was talking about and was extremely rude and claimed I was lying about when I stayed even though I was billed and have about 20 or more witnesses. It was his employee that told me about the bed bugs but he said they were mistaken and that the room was being treated but it was because someone before me snuck in a dog and they were cleaning up some sort of wet spots from the dog. Still, a bad situation. All the employees over the years have always been extremely nice to me and all my friends but who ever this person Ron is that sent the email to me was extremely rude and would not answer or return my phone calls when I left polite messages. Had my house checked out afterwards and luckily never brought any BED BUGS home with me so pretty sure I got them there. They claimed that I must have brought them to the hotel from my home LOL. Let me tell you it really sucks, I have pics where I had bites covering my whole body so I would NOT RECOMMEND this place, we are not staying there ever again!! IF you don't mind a SERIOUS bedbug problem, this hotel is for you. We were assigned 2 rooms for my husband and I and our 2 adult sons. We were told we were in the old part of the hotel and that our rooms were super haunted. OK...we were fine with that. The rooms we were given were #119 and 121. Both rooms were absolutely filthy with gigantic stains on the VERY old/worn-out carpeting. The heater in our room had no thermostat and exposed wiring. The shower in our room was disgusting and had around 4 water streams which spraying over my head into the wall. Kind of humorous as I had to jump to get wet.....not a pretty picture. Our boys room was not much better. Neither room had individual soap or shampoo. There was an old bottle (diluted) of soap in both rooms and a communal bottle of shampoo (also diluted) in both rooms. We didn't ask for different rooms, and we should have! I just figured we made a very poor choice. We have stayed in hotels all over the world and this one ranks right up there with the worst of the worst. I would have let it go and not written any reviews except for the fact that we were ALL eaten alive by bedbugs. I have bites (LOTS) from my ankles to my forehead. This is unacceptable and I DID let the management know. Sooooo.....just beware and maybe look for anywhere else in Tombstone to stay. There are a LOT of places. All in all, it was just okay for me. The real only complaint I had is that there are two buildings that make up the hotel, the original building and an add-on. The add-on is a little further and the WiFi is essentially non-existent. Had to walk closer to the main building to be able to get WiFi which was needed for work. The room was clean, old but still clean. There was nothing extravagant about the room or the hotel just a good average place to sleep for the night. Although I do wonder what things are different in the main building where you check-in because we got sent to the building a little further away. Would I stay there again? Except for the bedbugs(!), our experience was similar to Trudy G's. Also, there was an inch of daylight all around the window a/c and the blankets were just rags, so we almost froze. The shower was beyond disgusting. It was just a wooden box! I think Wyatt Earp used to wash his horse in it; it certainly looked like it hadn't been cleaned since those days. I kid you not, there was an adhesive strip from a sanitary napkin in it! Secured a reservation and upon walking in they increased the online price from $60 to $75.. If I had been smart I would have walked then, Late at night so I had to take it..The place was filthy--dirty rugs and crunchy--hair in the bathroom--hair on the floor from what I assume was a pet (found dog food)--I did the lite test and looked quickly--guess what I saw--u guessed it a roach (Just terrific)--took a quick shower in a semi-clean bathroom and went to bed.. I stayed at this motel a few weeks ago for a mini vacation. You know, sometimes you just need a spur of the moment vacation! I looked up haunted motels in Tombstone, and this one popped up on Google. I called them, and Barry answered the phone. He is sooo nice! I asked for the most haunted room that my dog may also stay in, and he said room #119 would be perfect. Barry even told me that dogs usually act differently in that room, since they are sensitive to ghosts. Barry told me that they have fresh coffee in their front office where you check in, every morning! Barry even told me the estimated time of arrival from Scottsdale, I didn't even have to ask! When I arrived, I noticed the motel is an older building, but they have done a lot of renovation. I checked into my room with my dog, and my room was very clean! I am pretty sensitive to energies, and my room felt positive, but I definitely felt like there was something there. My dog was drawn to the wall in our room. My dog never slept, and never let me or my sister sleep, because she wanted to get into that wall, haha. My dog is usually very mellow, but she must have seen something or heard something that we just couldn't. I had a lot of fun! The staff is so friendly. Barry checked our room for damages before we checked out, and he told us that we are very clean people. I will definitely come back to this hotel. Thank you for a fantastic vacation! read more

Worth the lower cost - and close in town so you can walk where ever you need to go. Room was clean and comfortable, definitely recommend this place. Morgan's Pizza had wide variety of offerings - their breakfasts were great, and the pizza was wonderful - they delivered it to the room. Would have eaten their the whole time if that had been possible. Folks at the desk were nice. Have seen a 'continental breakfast' advertised on their web site, but there was none to be had. Great place to stay in Tombstone! I stayed in the back for a few nights. In the evenings....you get a fantastic view of the Dragoons, with the sunset reflecting off them. I'd sit outside and have a glass of wine, listen to the birds and the breeze, and enjoy the Dragoons. Great place. After dark, take very short stroll over to Allen St and have some dinner and/or some drinks. Had a great time. The room was small, simple and extremely far from awe inspiring. It's definitely not worth the rate charged but I liked it. The daytime office guy was extremely nice and the motel is in a good location. However, the housekeeping lady was so obviously annoyed when I asked for a late checkout. I only asked for an hour. I didn't sleep much because my room was "haunted". What most people consider haunted, I call it an oppressive spirit or demon. There was nothing exciting or neat about it. I felt sick the moment I entered the room but I would feel fine outside of it. I could not sleep that night because I was very ill. So much so that I almost just packed up and left. I thought it was just me. I finally realized what was going on so I prayed. In a few moments the oppressive and sick feeling was gone and I felt fine. I was finally able to sleep peacefully. Many people enjoy staying in haunted places but I purposely avoid them. I would rather just enjoy the history of the area without that kind of drama. My advice to them would be to lower their rates and inform people that it is "haunted". They should be aware of that possibility instead of finding out the hard way. read more

Well this place is a dump! Grossly over priced and the staff very unfriendly and not helpful at all. It needs to be refurbished in so many ways. Don't waist you time staying here. read more
