Cheap. That's the operative word. Cheap rate and cheap accommodations. This hotel has probably never seen better days, and it's been degrading since those not better days. Pros: Good rate It was okay to bring my bike into the room A previous user left chocolate milk in the fridge The air conditioner worked well Cons: The room was beat up (walls, mattress, grout, cigarette burn in the coverlet) No extra blanket Furnishings made for hard/prison use (not at all comfortable) The bathroom sink sent a heavy and powerful mist in all directions Having said all that, a person does get what they pay for, and I didn't pay much. read more

In a nutshell, this place is a sh*t hole. It sad that for $75 you can't stay in a place where you feel clean and protected. At check-in, I stood for 15 minutes ringing the bell until somebody came running down the hall to help me. We were told that all of the rooms had full size beds not Queens and that none of the rooms faced outside so you couldn't be near your car. Our room was smack in the middle of the building and had an adjoining door that was locked. The hallway wreaked of cigarette smoke. Luckily you didn't smell it in the room but You could hear everything going on in the room next door. The sheets were gross and there was dirt in every corner. I spilled some water and when I wiped it up, the cloth was filthy. There is only one tiny bar of soap in the bathroom and two tiny bath towels that barely wrap your hair. We had to ask for two more. Good thing I brought in my own shampoo. Water was hot, pressure ok but not great. The pillows feel like they have a bunch of rolled up socks in them for stuffing and the bed itself sits on a typical Motel6 platform (no box spring) so don't expect a Heavenly bed. And hearing the TV next door until 2am was less than heavenly too. If there were more than two outlets we couldn't find them. They have free coffee in the lobby but it's all just so run down and sad. Next time I'll save my money and sleep in my van. read more

Pros: * Cost. $56 total. No discounts accepted (AAA, AARP). * Safe, quiet 'hood, clean. Right off Hwy 10, behind Love's truckstop, but the truck noise will not bother you. * TV has extensive cable channels... every HBO/Cinemax & hundreds of others. * Fridge & m/w. Cons: I stayed here twice & the same annoyances were present, even though there was 2-3 yrs in-between stays. And, I swear I had the same room each time... #219... it must be haunted by a former, unhappy patron. I checked in, rolled my luggage cart & carried the rest of my belongings to the room, then couldn't turn on the TV with the remote. Tried to call the front desk, the phone was dead... same as last time. So, I hauled my heavy belongings back to the front desk to ask for a room change. He then said there was a TV on-off switch. Didn't see it... same as before... & there is no label on it (perhaps there should be). He came to the room & switched out phones with the room next door, saying it was a broken cord as I was hauling everything back in, again. All done, annoying, but we're good to go, right? Ah, not so fast... Could log onto 'net, but with limited connection, no 'net. This has happened at a number of M6's only (I travel extensively) & I forget the work-around because I now bypass M6 most of the time due to poorly insulated rooms & dicey clientele. They have an 888 tech support # to call for help. Well, this place doesn't or isn't aware of it. I called the front desk & the young girl told me it was my computer. It's not... & I explained the above & asked for the tech support #. She said she'd talk to her boss. She called back & said I might not be able to log on. I told her that's not true, I experienced this at 1/3 of the M6's I visited, just give me the tech support # & I'll leave you alone. She gave me the 800 M6#, which doesn't grant access to tech support, because it's offered by an outside co. How do I know? Cuz I've been through this so many times before... at least a dozen. When I called back to say I needed the 888 TSupport #, she said they didn't have it, but bring my computer to the front desk & her boss could fix it. I just said thanks & hung up cuz I'd just taken a shower & was not about to roam the hallways, laptop in hand, scuffling with my bunny slippers & head wrapped in a towel. 10-min later, knock at the door. Oh, boy... I'm still walking about with my hair in a towel & half dressed. The owner came in & fixed the connection by allowing me a bypass using my IP#. Took 10-min. After that, I just wanted to settle down, watch a movie & work on the computer... but, the remote wouldn't work & gave me a msg to call the front desk to ask for battery replacement. Jeez, not again. I just manually shut off the TV. Great, so as annoying as this all was, we're all set now, right? Ah, not so fast... At 7:45am, a woman walked in on me. How? Well, the deadbolt to the door doesn't fully engage, so she was able to just push through. Lovely, how safe. I wasn't dressed, so had to yell that I hadn't checked out yet & pushed the door closed on her. All she said was, 'okay'. As a girl traveling alone, she scared the bleedin' bloody life out of me. I checked out at 9:30am, mentioned to the owner that new batteries were needed & that he should tell housekeeping not to enter rooms sans knocking, let alone before 8am. He said she smelled wire burning, as if that were an answer. Hey, wasn't my room... nothing electrical was working in it, lol. I said, he missed the point... knock on paying guest's doors & wait to be invited in... DO NOT walk in on them. He was polite, but was annoyed by me. Seriously? You're annoyed after all the glitches I experienced? Both times, same deal. Others mention similar experiences. Good to know: * The door handles to the rooms need to be lifted, not pressed down. Even though that info is taped to the door plate (perhaps it needs to be more conspicuous), after a long drive, one might not be seeing it & the front desk staff does not always tell guests. That wasn't my issue, but there were 2 guys next door at 10:30pm who spent 20-min trying to get into their room... talking, rattling the door handle. English wasn't their 1st language, so perhaps that was the issue... they couldn't read the sign? Had I been dressed, I'd have opened the door to assist, but I honestly didn't think they'd take that long. However, at night, it's not uncommon to hear late check-ins chattering in the hallways, rattling handles, attempting to open their doors. There are other local hotels, same price, good reviews. Try one of those. 1.5* out of 5 for my experience. -2* for the glitches I didn't need. -2* for being walked in on. But, I'll give them 2.5*. I'm sure not everyone has had my experiences. I just don't like hassles after driving 500-mi, then having to do it again in the am... it's too exhausting. read more

On a recent trip from Austin to San Francisco, I stopped at the Motel 6 in Benson one night. The room was clean and comfortable. The price was right as it was inexpensive for just a place to sleep for 8 hours until I had to get up and start driving again. The staff was friendly and quick and helpful. The only think I'd say about this is that after I left and continued west down I-10, the next city I ran into had a room for $29.99. You may want to check that out if you're driving down the interstate. read more

Filthy, gross, disgusting! Out of a horror movie! So the pics online don't show the sticky soaked urine on the floors! Unbearable smell in the room! No toilet paper either. Can feel the springs in the bed. Refrigerator was dirty. Prostitutes literally chilling on the back steps, next to an unlocked door. Really rough motel 6. And I have pretty low expectations after staying in many. The guy at the front desk was nice though, and let us switch rooms when the first one stank wretchedly of smoke. Whatever, the next one didn't smell at all. But the sink was basically unusable. I had to look away while washing my hands because it was coming out at such a high pressure in 3 narrow streams it was spraying everywhere. Hair on the "clean" new towels... also the deadbolt didn't work at all. The guy belching at high volume in the next room was an added bonus!!!! Yellow stains on the sheets... yum. On a motorcycle journey around the states, I was hitting the twilight hour while travelling through Benson, and saw the Motel 6 sign from the freeway. Pulled in, inquired about a room, and checked in. So first things first - you're in Arizona. In the desert. So it's HOT outside. And dusty. That said, this is a pretty clean property, tucked behind a Love's truck stop. As such, it has a huge truck parking lot behind it. You'd think that would mean noise, but inside, it's actually quiet. As I said, it's tucked behind a Love's...which means it's VERY convenient for picking up dinner. There's a McD's across the street, but it has a one star rating on Yelp. Turns out there's a reason for that....it kinda sucks (see my review for details). Stick with Love's. The rooms are clean, with a wide screen TV, typical Motel 6 bathroom setup, but....the room includes a fridge....NICE. And WiFi is also included (side note: this whole Motel 6 migration to charging for WiFi is just dumb. Truly). So IF you're in Benson, this is a good deal - worth the price. read more

When I first came in, the lobby had an internet workstation, microwave, and seating area. Very nice for a Motel 6. The desk clerk Mark was super nice, and gave me a discount and didn't charge the pet fee (and my German Shepherd is well behaved anyways). The room is rather spartan, but I'm only here to sleep before I continue on my drive to San Antonio. If you're looking for a good place to sleep, this is it, but if you're looking for a spacious room, this one feels cramped, like a prison cell in a movie. But like the previous posters, it's definitely clean. Total cost came out to around $45 with taxes. read more

After a long drive I was ready to call it a night and I really had to go pee. I walked into the lobby and said, "I have a reservation but can I use your bathroom?" The front desk guy said they didn't have a restroom in the lobby. (Oh man, I don't if I can hold it) I made a reservation here ahead of time so my name was in the system. He gave me a key and said, "You're in room ###. Go use the bathroom, then come back and we'll get you checked in." Husband, baby and I went on mini trip and needed a place to rest. Rooms were ok, until I laid on the and saw hair on the bed (different kinds of hairs). It looked like the sheets weren't changed. Then I saw my baby had a long white hair on his face, DISGUSTING! Then the people next to us were obnoxiously LOUD and ruined my baby's sleep. PAPER THIN WALLS. I would not come back here ever again. We are not picky people at all, we never write reviews for anything ever unless is this horribly bad. First time a hotel/motel has ever let us down. UPDATE: Person next door was being louder and louder as time passed. Baby was not able to sleep at all. We asked if it was possible to switch rooms or if we can have our money back. They said they didn't have any rooms and offered to give us half our money back; we were ok with the money back since there wasn't any rooms. But...my husband checks online and it says they had 9 rooms left. They had lied and finally switch us room. This rooms was just as gross. The tv was broken, There was dog or cat hair on the counters and towels, there were nail clippings on the bathroom sink, mold on the tub handles, and worst of all, old BLOOD drops around the toilet seat. This has to be one of the cleanest, best Motel 6's in the entire country! After checking in to a seedy-looking mom-and-pop motel in downtown Benson and finding bugs in my room, I immediately got a refund and drove back out of Benson to the Motel 6, and I was thrilled that I did! Sometimes Motel 6's are not the most upscale establishments, but this place speaks highly for the chain. The sheets, bedspreads, pillows, shower -- everything in my room seemed brand new! The room also had a fridge and microwave, which is certainly not standard at many Motel 6's. Best part: the Motel 6 was a few dollars cheaper than the seedy-looking mom-and-pop motel in Benson. read more

After reading the reviews I am surprised by the negative reviews. I have stayed at this hotel a number of times for what I call "extended" stay 3-7 days. The staff has always been extremely good. Our reservations are always correct and room ready. Motel 6 is not presented as a luxury hotel nor is it priced that way. We bring our own toiletries and wipe our own asses. The rooms are updated and clean everytime. The coffee in the morning is very good. For breakfast we have found a number of local resturants who serve a great breakfast. The manager Johnny has been here for a number of years and seems to take pride in giving the best product he can. This is my first choice when I am in the area. If you expect the Waldorf ..... stay there..... if a clean room at a fair price with good customer service is your want..... Give this place the chance to show you what they got. read more

I've stayed here several times and always had a good stay. This time was the worst stay I've ever had at a Motel 6. First off the parking was horrible. There was a fifth wheel detached from a truck using up 8 spaces near my room. i had to park on the opposite side. When I came back there was no place to park at the motel so I had to park at the truck stop. Trailer taking 8 spaces still parked there. Room below had a dog barking for over an hour. And to top it off when I pulled back the bed spread the sheets were dirty and had hair on them and other crap. Ended up sleeping on top of the covers. When I checked out in the morning I told the manager about these issues and all he could say was, "Sorry." Nothing else. I will never stay at this Motel 6 again. I spent the next night at the Motel 6 in South Tucson and had a great stay. Completely opposite of your Benson location. read more

Been in *far* worse for way more money. Clean, quiet room, hot water, comfy beds. And our dog was no problem and no charge! They even put us in a handicap room (we were stiff and sore from long driving) near the outside stair exit to walk the dog if needed without the hassle of going thru the lobby. Friendly helpful staff got us parked with our trailer no problem. Bathroom floor was a little dirty, but, we had a dog. We really put them thru hoops, and they took it in stride, all smiles. I would consider this an average motel, nothing special about it. I could find something better for $41. They only had soap in the bathroom, no shampoo or conditioner. Immediately upon entering my room, I notice 3 dead bugs. I understand it's summer in Arizona, but I stayed at another motel in Benson (which was only $25/night) for 14 nights and only discovered 1 bug. I'm not going to say any names, but there is a better motel to stay at in Benson. read more

Excellent bargain for forty something bucks. No frills, no toiletetries but much nicer than Motel Six is normally. I did not expect any extras with that price anyway. They have free coffee in the lobby in the morning which is nice and you can walk to a few restaurants in the parking lot.The only negative is they need to clean the rooms and bathroom a bit better. Stayed here a few weeks ago during a leg of a long road trip. The room was clean and decent. It smelled weirdly of maple syrup, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The front desk staff were really friendly and helpful. They were very welcoming and accommodating. Inexpensive with semi parking BUT nothing other than mini soap bars. Asked front desk for complimentary travel toiletries (shampoo & deodorant) but they don't do that there. Asked for tooth brush and toothpaste and the guy behind counter sold me some for $3. Asked for extra mini soaps and he charged me $1 for two more. Only coffee in morning no breakfast served. This is by far is the best Motel 6 in several states. My rode trip took me from Georgia to California. I wanted to stay in Motel 6 because they do not charge for pets. After staying in very disappointing ones along the way, I was not expecting much when I checked in here. To my surprise this was the cleanest, well kept Motel 6. Construction going on in room above mine till 9pm and two phone calls to the front desk. Room was not very appealing, dirty and film covered mirrors. TV kept cutting out, floor under bathtub felt like it would give if you stood in the tub. Front Desk Attendant Heather was rude and combative when presented with issues. My husband is a truck driver. Often times it can be hard to find a hotel with truck parking at a good price. This hotel was very clean and comfortable. If your a driver new to this area I would suggest staying here it is right next to the loves so plenty of places to park. Usual fast food near by to fuel yourself. Guest laundry available, swimming pool etc. We didn't get to try the breakfast had to leave early. We would stay again. read more
