I'd give them 0 stars or a negative rating if I could. Rented a car at the Indianapolis Airport…read more The rental was fine until I scraped a curb and damaged a tire which went flat overnight. With no spare tire or tire-changing equipment in the trunk, I had to request a tow to a nearby small town. Budget representatives decided the only way to have the tire changed was to have it towed 207 miles to Detroit! This despite there being several good-sized cities nearby. The tow company in the small town agreed that towing it that far was ridiculous and they were able to find a tire locally, changed the tire right there, and I was on my way. When I returned from my trip, I received a bill for $748.40 for towing services and other related fees. I have been trying to resolve it with my insurance and AAA ever since. Today I spent 2 - 3 hours on the phone being stonewalled by one Budget agent after another, until I finally found one who would send me the itemized bill which showed the breakdown of costs including the non-existent 207-mile tow. This was the first I'd heard that I was being charged for something which never happened. I am still in the midst of trying to resolve this situation, but Budget has been a nightmare to deal with. I've never had trouble with them at other rental locations, but then again I've never had an accident with a rental car, no matter how minor. Not sure if it's the Indianapolis airport location or their nation-wide "lack-of-customer service" department. Beware of these shysters!

So I wish to be clear and state that this is a review for Avis, not Budget. I have used Budget…read morebefore and had no issues, but this was my first time using Avis. I wish to be as transparent as I can be because as someone who had to spend money to take an Uber to get to the location and then money back, it was frustrating to say the least. I think I was a good sport about it, but I feel the need to relay my sentiments so that other customers know what they are getting into. I made my reservation through the Uber Vehicle Marketplace app to rent a car to be able to to Uber Eats deliveries and Uber Driver Rideshare so this is not a reflection of Uber but more so of this Avis store.I had my rental secured and even had the pleasure of speaking with an Avis representative over the phone for the general Avis website customer service line named Dalton who was more than helpful and actually assisted in recommending another vehicle all together that I had not considered. He was able to also help me with my online account/profile as in order to do the Uber Driver rental or dollow through with it, you have to create an Avis Preferred account and receive a Wizard number. This was all new to me but he was patient and kind enough to walk me through it step by step. So again this is not a reflection of Avis customer service overall but this store location in particular. Since I had the car reserved for me several hours in advance, a hybrid Toyota prius (which I was reslly excited to try out by the way because I have heard good things about Prius's and am kind of biased towards Toyota as I think they manufacture excellent cars...them and Ford) it was disappointing that I wasn't able to try it out for Uber. So after taking a 40-45 minute ride to the location (Uber covers the cost with a voucher to the rental pickup location but for me for some reason the voucher did not apply so I had to charge it to my credit card and pay iut of pocket...but it is what it is)...upon arriving to the location, I am met by a gentleman who greets me outside, almost like he was waiting for me to arrive which I thought strange to begin with. The lot itself was barren and empty with only two cars, a Subaru and another vehicle which I was assuming that maybe I was going to be given one of those. After the Uber driver drops me off and she was still waiting there with her car running (she was very nice and understanding but did have another rider to pick up), the represenative proceeds to tell me that there were no card available. What also struck me is interesting was that he was not in an Avis uniform or shirt. The inside of the space looked worn down as if no one had frequented there. There was no information about cars on the wall or special offers like other rental companies I had utilized previously so something felt off to me. Sitting in the corner was an electric e bike with a package affixed to it reading Presto and a unwired TV next to it sitting on the floor. To be honest, it reminded me of an abandoned office space fronting as a rental car center When the man who assisted me and greeted me outside told me there were no cars available, I had to put my investigative hat on to do some investigative homework to see what really was the deal as it didn't seem likely that Uber would allow this kind of situation to occur. The man at the counter who helped me also stated that my card was charged as well to make it that much more confusing and alarming. He tried to remedy the situation by offering his cell phone number to me to keep me informed as to when they would have cars available but after this exchange I am reluctant to ever step foot into that location again. After calling Uber Vehicle Solutions and Avis, to square away and resolve my card being charged, I was then told by an Avis representative, that my card was not charged. I have worked in hospitality for several years (14 to be exact) and the run around was completely unnecessary. I don't like to put down any business and I rarely ever do poor or negative reviews, but I just wasted $60 worth on Uber rides to and from that rental location which could have been completely avoided. That representative at the counter for Avis, if he was waiting for me to arrive he surely could have given me a call beforehand to let me know that there were no cars available because I saw him through the store window watching me as I arrived. I initally thought he was a patron given the way he was dressed casually and informally, but indeed he was not. I actually have had a Budget rep call me before at another location for another car I was renting who informed me that there was a delay in the SUV I had rented but that another vehicle would be coming in and that I would have to wait an hour or so while it was being cleaned/detailed. So rental car companies do indeed inform their guests beforehand. I would have appreciated it if that was done beforehand.

Friendly staff, good service, nice car and a great rate. Would use this site again if in the area.read more

We waited just over 2 hours & at the counter. The lady at the counter couldn't check & see what we would be charged. There was one $300+/-charge that came up on the credit card machine that she explained was a security deposit & to call Avis with questions. The charge should have been $200, but came up $300 and she couldn't explain why. In the parking garage, Josh was the employee working. There were marks on the hood & front area around the hood of the car he was giving us. I was worried about being held responsible for this "damage". Josh explained it was a new vehicle & we wouldn't be charged. When looking inside the vehicle, the car was full of trash, we asked about where charging ports were located & Josh told us to go to a gas station & pick up an adapter. At the garage gate, the wonderful female employee (not being sarcastic, she was great), notated the hood & front-end marks on the "pink slip". She notated that the car only had 4000 miles & that "Josh" hadn't even taken the time to put gas in the car! It had less than 1/8th of a tank of gas. This sweet lady explained to us to take a picture of the "pink slip" that most likely when we return the vehicle, the employees will make that "pink slip" disappear & we would be charged for items that we should not be charged for. We were given a dirty rental car, with trash (cups, sunglasses, receipts, & used band aids), hood & front-end marks, & NO FUEL! Terrible customer service. Upon the end of our trip, we made sure to put more fuel in the vehicle than it had when we picked it up. Later that day two separate charges came through on our credit card. One over $300 & another just under $50. Since returning the vehicle I have had daily emails with Avis disputing these unexpected charges, some of which are for fuel. This has been the most disappointing and frustrating transaction of our trip & we won't be using Avis again. To say we are frustrated is an understatement. My advice is to look into other car rental companies. It seems like such a racket with all these crazy fees and surcharges for everything. Somehow, read the fine print before getting to the counter.

They're all over the place now, on several continents in a lot of major cities. It's awesome that they have come to Indy, but for the people of Indy that haven't experienced them in other places, let me assure you that the cars are usually better maintained than these Blue Indy ones, and that customer service is usually more reachable. Still, great to have them in Indy... but they need work.

Unfortunately, the service is better in concept than in reality. The concept: belong to a service where you have the use of an electric vehicle you drive yourself to get from point a to point b. Park in a Blue INDY spot and plug in and go about your business. Ready to go home, repeat the same process. The reality is that of the last few cars I've taken, there has been a problem with every single one. Aside from every car I've ever taken being filthy inside, here are just a few of the problems I've had. -Trip 1: Picked up car and something was rubbing against one of the tires. Called the support line and was accused of hitting something. Drove vehicle around the block and plugged back in, charged for trip. Unable to get to destination. Actually got text message 90 minutes after returning car telling me I was still on my trip and had to call back in a second time and argue to avoid being charged. - Trip 2: Another trip, another station. Picked up car and rolled window down. Upon parking, window would not roll back up. Would go about half way and then go back down. Finally got it to go up after fussing with it for several minutes. - Trip 3: Another trip, another station. Accelerating in traffic and car started to stall. Almost scared the @$#% out of me. The concept is good, but they really need a little more TLC (and some window washing fluid) or else they're going to have to start replacing them soon.
