We had an absolute blast at Buddy's arcade last night. The hospitality is top notch and the beer is delicious. My boyfriend and I had a blast playing NBA Jam, Guitar Hero, and Pac Man. I can't wait to come back.

There's just so much to look at and play that it's easy to wander around and keep finding another game you want to try. I know Ground Kontrol is also a bar, but I haven't tried any of the drinks, so I can only speak to the arcade side of things! The game credits are also pretty reasonable. For $20, you get 310 credits, which can actually last a surprisingly long time depending on what you play. I definitely appreciate being able to spend a good chunk of time here without burning through everything immediately. I played Street Fighter, Mario Kart, and a bunch of other arcade games, plus several of the pinball machines. There are so many classics packed into the place that it really does feel like a giant nostalgia trip. Definitely a fun spot if you like old-school arcades, pinball, or just want to relive the feeling of walking into an arcade and being surrounded by like-minded folks who are there to also have fun!

So that we would just be around the corner and popping in here would be easy during our stay. Luckily I was able to come in on two different days, and at different times! We got both the night life experience and the day time experience. I think I preferred the day time because it wasn't as busy. Night means cover charge ($4) and bag check. And no kids. You might see some kids during the day. What a cool place, with yummy drinks (no food), and all my favorite arcade games, and then some! They operate on a card system, so no coins needed when you visit. My pinball wizard friend had been traveling arcade ready with coins in her bag, but it turns out they weren't needed. Ground Kontrol supplies free lockers to store your stuff; just follow the instructions and don't forget your code. I learned a lot about pinball during my visits here, and played more pinball than I usually do because of that. I mean, why not? I played one of the newest pinball games, released within weeks of my visit, which was Pokemon themed, and I played one of the more vintage pinball machines, Xenon. And everything in between! It was awesome. $20 loaded onto a card will get you 15ish games, but there is a different cost depending on which game you're playing. I was satisfied with the value and would, and did! come back again. Highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area! Make sure to check out the whole place, as it's bigger than you think and there are more games (mostly pinball) upstairs.

There was good view from the top. The people were helpful to get you off the lift and onto the slide. They will tell you what to do, like how to go fast and slow. I liked feeling in control of the speed. There are leisure and experienced tracks but I didn't really seem to notice a difference. It took about 5-10 minutes to come down. Probably the trip up was longer." Another mom note re: missing 5th star: the website and pricing details were not easy to navigate. There is NO WHERE on the a la carte page that clarifies that the rides are per person (only on the paperwork at the gift shop do they make that clear). I had to fork over an additional $20 onsite but was not ready to spend an additional $30 beyond that for the experience. Instead, stayed at the bottom to get photos.

This place is cool. All you can play pinball and video games for only 23 bucks? Yes, please!…read more The place is humongous! They have pinball machines and video games from the classics all the way up to the present. I actually prefer the more classic pinball machines, because the current ones that they come out with now, have so many different things going on, so many different features, I like the simplicity of the earlier machines. The machines are in immaculate condition, they do a very good job of keeping them up. They do have a few games that you have to pay for, those are the "ticket" type of games. Other than that, everything is pretty much fair game. With your wristband, you can come and go as you please. I got there when they opened at noon, and I stayed until about 4 PM, and then I came back at six and almost stayed till they closed at nine. That's a lot of pinball and video games for a very low price. They do get busier on the weekends, and also on Friday when they have tournaments, but with the massive number of machines, you will find something to play. This is definitely a place to come visit. They have food carts on the outside of the museum, with seating, then they also have a seating area inside the museum. You can have what you ordered on the outside, or they even let you bring your own food and drink. They just ask that you eat in the designated area. They do have cupholders on the machines for your drinks.. I had a blast. Thanks!

Its so fun to just be able to play without doing mental gymnastics to see whether or not it'd be worth it for the amount of credits you have left. As well as the pinball machines they have TONS of retro arcade game machines and lots of new stuff as well! Genuinely a place that can be enjoyed by all ages. The staff are always super kind and helpful! AND it's open late!!! One of the only things you can do in the Portland Metro Area thats open past 9pm! You can even leave and comeback if you have something planned or need food, your wrist band will allow you to get back in! None of this "if you leave you have to buy another ticket" crap. With arcades being a dying breed and feeling more and more like a cash grab nowadays, places like these are important to have!

We ended up staying way longer than planned because it's just that fun -- grabbing drinks, watching people battle it out on the big screens, and soaking in the atmosphere. After ordering food and a round of drinks for the group, we sat down at one of the gaming booths, excited to dive in. When I went back to the counter to ask how to start playing, the bartender told me it was $5 per person to access the games and that guests needed to consistently order drinks to maintain access. Honestly, that seemed fair to me. However, things quickly went downhill. I offered to pay the game fee, but was told I needed to buy drinks first. I explained we had just bought drinks--he had literally served us minutes earlier. His response: "You need to have an open tab, and we won't let you play unless you order more." At that point, the experience soured. The staff felt dismissive and unwelcoming throughout the interaction. Despite already spending money, we were denied access to what we came for. We finished our drinks--which, for some reason, didn't count--and left. This was my first visit, and unfortunately, likely my last. (This place had 5-star potential when I first arrived, but the staff interaction left miserable)
