Me and my wife were visiting Ocean City. We were looking to see where to go for dinner. He saw this place driving in looking for a place to park. We figured we'd give it a try. This was their restaurant location, they also have one on the boardwalk as well. We decide to go to the restaurant one so we could stay in the air conditioning and have a place to sit down. Our waitress was very professional when she came over and gave us some recommendations. My wife ordered the half chicken, and I ordered the half rack of ribs. Both of the meats were cooked just right, and the sides were very good as well. We both enjoyed our meal very much. It was a little on the pricey side, but it's worth the price for what you get. If you're ever looking for good barbecue in South Jersey, or you're looking for a place for dinner near the beach., definitely give Buddy Love's BBQ a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

Food was very pricey for the amount you get. I had a burger was about 1/2 the size of a 1/4 pounder. One onion ring, and the smallest piece of lettuce I ever saw. Brisket sandwich was also small. had to stop at Dunkin for more on the way home. I was excited to try this BBQ joint while in vacation in Ocean City and it was good, but nothing to write home about. I suppose I wasn't actually expecting too much based on location, but I think what really keeps this at a 3-star review for me is the cost. The pulled chicken was full of flavor with some cole slaw and great tasting potato salad. A full meal that you can get while walking the OC boardwalk. Very nice staff but that's about it. Should have realized that it wasnt going to be any good by the fact it was a busy weekend and there was no one in there. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich. It came on a seeded roll that was toasted because it was stale. Mushy pulled pork with tasteless coleslaw. It also had fries with it that were so dark apparently they need to change the oil, we ordered a side of onion rings and two drinks and the bill came to $42. I wish this spot had a location close to where I live as it's the best bbq sauce I have ever had! The sauce perfectly balances all the flavors (sweet, salt, spice, sour, smoke and umami) inspiring the taste buds to dance. The mac and cheese is everything you want in a Mac and cheese. The coleslaw was sweet, creamy and balanced as well. I would love to try the ribs and other sides. We enjoyed people watching on the boards as we enjoyed our meal. They will bring the food out to you if you are sitting down. The service was down to earth earth friendly and eager to please. I had the brisket sandwich meal combo, let me start off with the Mac and cheese I got in my combo, most bbq places have a dry Mac with very little taste but not Buddy Love's, smooth and creamy with a great flavor. Next we have the coleslaw, not many places can even come close to how good their recipe is with it being very well made. Now on to the main event, the brisket sandwich, the meat was melt in your mouth tender with a very well balanced Smokey flavor and the sauce is that of another world good. I had the 1/4 rack of Baby Back Ribs. They were delicious. Loved the Baked Beans. I got the Cole Slaw but thought it had too much dressing. I'll try the Potato Salad next time. I will also get a 1/2 rack of ribs (only $6 more in the combo) and bring the extra 1/4 home. read more
