I am leaving a 2-star review, and the wings were the only thing that saved this from being a 1-star experience. When we arrived (party of three), my husband and I ordered a small pizza and 12 wings, and our friend ordered a pot roast sandwich with wings. It took about 15 minutes just for someone to take our drink order. Our waitress explained there was a delay due to staff singing happy birthday, which we understood. After placing our food order, we waited another 20 minutes. Eventually, the kitchen brought out both orders of wings and the pot roast sandwich--but no pizza. When our waitress checked on us, we mentioned the missing pizza, and she explained it comes from a separate line and would be out later. That was fine, but no effort was made to check on it or follow up. We nearly finished all of our food, and still no pizza. Our waitress then returned with boxes and the check, asking if we needed anything else. At that point, I again mentioned the missing pizza. She rolled her eyes and repeated that it comes from a different line. By then, we were already done eating and no longer wanted it. What followed was extremely unprofessional. After we declined the pizza, she stormed off, removed it from the bill, then came back holding the pizza, dropped the check on the table, and said, "Well here it is--you don't want it?!" She then offered the pizza to a nearby table in an irritated tone. When I said I would be mentioning this in my review, she responded, "I don't know why you're so mad, I did nothing wrong." When I tried to calmly explain the situation from a customer perspective, she interrupted, put her hand up toward me, and said, "Whatever, I don't care, you're nasty." She then continued speaking negatively about us to coworkers within earshot. This was one of the most unprofessional dining experiences I've ever had. There was no apology at any point, no accountability, and no basic courtesy such as thanking us or acknowledging us when we left. Used to eat here back in the 80s when I lived in town, but I came back for a weekend visit to Pittsburgh and to see my old stomping grounds so I had to stop at Bud Murphy's. Just got the cheese pizza and enjoyed it very much. Definitely a place I'll eat each time. I come back to visit the hometown. read more

Bud's has been a popular place for many years. It's a mainstay in Connellsville. I've only had pizza here before and found it to be decent. That's what most people seem to go there for. For the review I was there solo and didn't want a pizza, as it would be too much food for just me. The place looks the same inside as it did when I was a little kid. The bar is huge and I chose to sit there since it was just me. The bartender was friendly and running all over to serve folks and grab food for them as well. Today I decided to try their boneless wings and a hot sausage sandwich. The boneless wings were very reasonably priced which is the pro. The con was that the sauce I chose was called Buzzy,which I was told is very popular was a greasy, gross mess. As such I did not enjoy the wings. Then my sandwich came, it was not what I expected. It too was very reasonably priced. When I ordered hot sausage, i must have missed the description on the menu. Out came a hamburger style roll with a sausage patty on it with a little sauce on top with a sprinkling of diced green pepper chunks. The sausage was somewhat overcooked, but had a nice spice to it. My wife and I just stopped in for lunch on friday at noon. She ordered a personal pizza and cheese fries. I ordered a steak hoagie platter with coleslaw and onion rings. My wifes food came out along with my coleslaw. Well, I waited. And waited. She had finished eating and still nothing of mine was brought out. No explanation whatsoever from the bar tender with black lipstick. In fact, never came back around and avoided any contact with us. We were ready to leave and my hoagie was brought out. No apologies. I have been going to Bud's for over 30 years. I even worked there through college for Bud's daughter Robyn. Drove 30 miles with my son and mom to get lunch last week. Our waitress was horrific. We had no waitress for the first 20 minutes we waited. Then she decided to "take us." I wish she hadn't. We had no service. Never saw her. No silverware with food on the table. And my son received his food 20 minutes after my mom and I finished. The food was meh. The manager was polite offering to take food off bill. I said I would pay for everything 100%. It was just such disrespect to Bud, Hazel and Robyn who made the business what it was. Plus there were flies all over. I never leave bad reviews. Especially from where I came from. Good food and good service! We sat in the outside bar area and had the perfect weather for it. It had a tiki vibe with plenty of tv's to watch during the big sport's events. So, came back to give Bud Murphys the benefit of the doubt. After being disappointed yet again, we will not be returning. The appetizer came out with the food, overcooked. The spaghetti that was ordered had hair in it. We requested the manager and the server gave attitude. Manager came over and didn't even apologize for anything reported just justified everything wrong. Bud Murphy's is a very popular place in Connersville. I was here on several occasions and I'd say it pretty much fits the definition of being a dive bar with a lot of beer-guzzling and a good number of not all that sober loudmouths. But what annoyed me is that there is an outside area in which smoking is permitted, but the smoke finds its way into the inside bar and dining area. But what is good about the place is that their mixed drinks are of a good pour and reasonably priced. They have a rather extensive reasonably priced menu. I had their wings done Buffalo style and served with celery and a blue cheese salad dressing. They were good enough but the wings were exceptionally small. I also had their Blue Cheese Burger which I ordered rare but came well done. Then also a small "Hazel" pizza done with bacon, onion, and green pepper. It was OK and for $12.50 decently priced. I'd go 3 stars but for the divey atmosphere can only go two. read more

My friends and I came for dinner around 8:30PM. This was my first time here and I found it interesting that we had to find our own table. We walked through the restaurant to find available seating. Since it was busy, it did take longer than usual to receive our food. However, our waitress was great. She came and took our orders right away. She made sure to check in and provide refills on our drinks. There was a $2 special for margaritas. I ordered the watermelon margarita but I was disappointed because it tasted like grapefruit. My friends also ordered the same drink and said it tasted like strawberry or medicine. When we ordered our second rounds, the drinks actually tasted like watermelon. But the inconsistency of the flavor of the drinks were disappointing. Everyone ordered different items. I had the "THE PITTSBURGHER" ...$7.95 Philly Steak Fries, Vinegar Slaw Piled High on Italian Bread. The steak had no flavor, thankfully the vinegar slaw helped it a bit. Fries tasted cold. I ordered onion rings and I'm happy they came out hot and fresh. My friend ordered the chicken basket and they said they didn't have any and there was no pizza. Lots of items weren't available and our waitress said they shouldn't even be on the menu. Overall, it was your typical bar food. Nothing exceptional but it hit the spot. We were there last Monday for lunch. The waitress was ok but it took FOREVER for our food to come out. Three out of 4 of us ordered the lunch special. I got my potato soup right away but the other 3 waited about 30 minutes for their French onion soup. We kept asking the waitress and she said she check on it. Finally got our food but it was just semi warm like it had been sitting for a while in the kitchen. My cousin asked for a manager but it took at least 15 minutes for that to happen. A "Debbie" walks over to the table and says, "What's the problem?" No "hi, my name is Debbie. How can I help?" We explained the issues. She did offer to remake my husband's sub but by this time, we had been there for 1.5 hrs and just wanted to leave. I excused myself to the restroom and came back to our check on the table. I took it up to the bar where Debbie was bartending and waited a few minutes for her to acknowledge me. She says, "what do you need?" I put my hand out with the bill and my debit card and she tells me I need to pay my server. Really?!? You can't just take it? She takes it out of my hand and says she'll give it to my server so I asked for it back and said I give it to my server. It was super busy at 5:30 on a Saturday, but we got a table. The food was priced almost pre-covid which was really nice to see. I had a cheeseburger which a mediocre, my husband had wings that I wish I'd had ordered. Other tables spagetti portions were very large and the pizza's look delicious. Our table was back in the bar. We visited Falling Waterd and Bud Murphy's was recommended to us for dinner. The bar was very busy and the dining room was busy as well. We all ordered different dishes as well. Their "World Famous" pizza was unique. My son thought was great. The salads were fresh and nicely presented. My "Kingfish" platter was really good. Could possibly be the worst food I've eaten in years. The wings were fine, however every other dish that hit the table screamed of a kitchen that has lost all hope. The antipasto salad was sad. The proportion was small and consisted of a bit of cheap deli meat, fake crab meat that wasn't advertised as fake, two slices of cheap deli cheese, precut canned olives, precut canned beets, and a handful or so of iceberg lettuce. It looked like a four year old plated it. Just sad. The chicken Alfredo was aggressively salted with coarse salt that was still unmelted. It literally burned to the taste. The portion of chicken on the pasta was so small we had to order a second chicken breast for our 16 year old. It was supposed to come with a salad that was never delivered. The chicken parmigiana was flavorless. The sauce tasted like it was straight from a can, untouched by any herb. The chicken portion again was small. It was served on a filthy red plastic plate and didn't even fill the space on the plate. It was supposed to come with a meatball that was never delivered. Buffalo chicken wrap was not good enough to eat the second half. Strangely watery. Oh, and the cherry coke is actually Pepsi with grenadine, not actual Cherry Coke. We finished eating about 30 minutes ago and 2 of three diners are in the bathroom with major regrets for choosing this place to eat. Never again. read more

Super busy restaurant on a Saturday night. Parking is very weird. Couple lots to choose from just as an fyi. When you go in make sure you hit the hostess stand in the bar or the servers look at you like you have 5 heads. None of them were very friendly or made you feel like you should be there. Came here for a party, was pretty good for what it is. The pizza was greasy, but I actually liked it a lot. They have a large fishbowl drink that seemed to be very popular among friends. Parking was a bit crazy on a Friday night - they have multiple parts of parking lots all around the building which don't connect very well, sometimes (limited space to drive between lanes etc). Mediocre food, ok service, but completely incompetent kitchen. I have been there multiple times (never by choice) and their mozzarella sticks never have cheese in them. I think it leaks out in the fryer. The most recent visit, two people at our table ordered side salads which came immediately and two ordered Greek salads which were considered entrees, so they didn't come for more than an hour and were nothing more than a side salad with some feta crumbles. The pizza is ok. The beer tasted funny, like maybe some maintenance on the taps was overdue. The atmosphere is sad bar culture. The parking lot and entrance consistently reek of rotting garbage. We ordered sweet ice tea, cheesy fries and a sausage, pep and mushroom pizza. The sweet tea was just ok. The fries were just fried frozen fries with cheese and bacon on top. The pizza was above average but not amazing. I'm from a small town so I'm always nostalgic about small town living. I like to visit little places like this. This restaurant serves lunch between 1100-1600. We had a party of 6 and ate late lunch around 1500. The lunch special (soup, salad, and half a sub) was ordered by 3, I had an order of Buzzy wings, and the kids had chicken strips with sweet potato fries and cheese pizza. The lunch specials came out super fast! Our server was polite and circled back several times to check on us. Ambiance is heavy with Pirates and Steelers decor...awesome! I have been going to Bud Murphy's in Connellsville, PA every year for longer than I can admit. I make a point of going to Bud Murphy's every year and wouldn't feel right if I missed one. Because it is close to some of my favorite fly fishing, hiking, skiing areas, it isn't too hard to find an excuse to eat there for lunch or dinner. It's cool because you can see at least 3 generations of people in the restaurant/bar every time you go so I know it's a place anyone can go to at any age. You get a basket of popcorn just for sitting, but try not to get too full because they serve large delicious portions of everything. I can recommend the Margarita pizza which I usually add a meat protein to to make it extra yummy, the loaded tater tots, the hot Italian sandwich, their wings, the spaghetti dinner, their specialty drinks, I can go on and on.... They say they're famous for their pizza, but to be honest, I Iike everything there. The pizzas are delicious, but so are the wings, sandwiches and pasta! What's even better? The price. This place is awesome. Hope you check it out at least once. But I hope they never get too popular because I would hate for them to ever "go Hollywood". Sept 2 2018: Another great meal at Bud Murphys after an awesome afternoon of hiking and working up an appetite. First time ordering the grilled tenderloin salad and it was pretty delicious. Wouldn't mind ordering again. Also ordered the fish and chips for the first time. The chips were homemade and delicious. Perfectly crisp and not greasy. Not sure if I'd order again.
