I now see what all the bad reviews are about. The first time I came, I was overcharged by a guy named Caleb. He added extra money to his tip. I gave it one more shot and the second time was worse. It was the same guy, Caleb. I asked for a bloody mary and he said "oh no we don't have that. Or actually, we do have that drink but I don't feel like making it." How odd and lazy. He must have connections with the owners, cause he definitely wasn't hired for his bartending abilities or people skills. After he finally gave in to making it, he started blasting his music so loud you couldn't hear the person next to you talking. Even though they have AMI here. They will play what they like. Not what the customer pays for. They definitely are all about forget the customer and do as they please. No thanks. I will pay extra to avoid this type of unprofessional behavior. Steer clear of here if you are looking for good customer service. When it comes to chill vibes, definitely check out Leroy's, Sozial Haus or Das Peach Haus for a fun time with professional service. I am not sure how this place stays open, and anytime I drive by the parking lot is empty. Looks like it could be a fun spot if they upped their game and hired better staff. read more

Absolutely ZERO STARS if I could. Went tonight with my friend group for my best friends birthday around 12:00a as our last stop of the night. Once we arrived we were immediately looked up and down from the 2 bouncers working tonight, and they proceeded to tell my, might I add, Hispanic friend that she was not allowed into the bar because she "displayed public intoxication". My friend is pregnant and had so clearly not had any drinks tonight, so we believe she was absolutely racially profiled. We were completely sober, and I was on crutches but still made the effort to go inside. My husband was denied a drink because he forgot his physical ID and only had a work permit. While ID policies are understandable, the bartender was rude and told him he could not remain on the property. She then refused to serve my sister, falsely claiming she was "stumbling," even though she was sober and simply dancing. To make matters worse, people were smoking cigarettes inside, making the place smell unpleasant. We intended to spend money and bring business to this bar, but instead felt disrespected and unwelcome. We left immediately and will not be returning. read more

We came and played pool for a bit waiting for karaoke to start. After being there for 1.5 hours, we decided to ask the DJ when karaoke started. WARNING - AVOID THIS PLACE! Never been treated so disrespectful in my life. We were denied access and we called an uber. While waiting for our uber the bouncer and bartender came out yelling at us to leave which I tried to explain that is what we are doing. Our Uber showed up as we got in the uber they called the cops who were obviously waiting around the corner. The cops made us get out of the uber. The bouncer then falsified his statement to police saying I pushed him (I was not intoxicated and never touched him). We didn't want to believe the reviews, but they're true. The bouncer will find any excuse not to let you in and say it's because you're inebriated, even when you're not. Good karaoke spot, not fussy or overrun with woo-woo girls. They could really use a platform for the singer but the sound system is good and selection is pretty well up to date. Staff were protective of their spot "I know what I've got, no low ballers" attitude was appropriate since I know they have their share of tourists. I'm a local and do NOT recommend this bar. Went on New Year's Eve with a group of friends and had problems with the bouncer or the "door man." My friend was accepted into the bar was in for 5 minutes then walked outside to get fresh air. Never bought a drink at the bar. When she tried coming back in she was denied entry. Went there last night because are in town for the eclipse and the atmosphere was great! There was a great choice on things to order to eat. My personal favorite was their pizzas. A person in my party had the beef fajita tacos and they were delicious. The staff said the person who cooked made the beef using a sous vide... definitely upscale for a small bar in central Texas. wish i could put no stars at all - i was told at the door after i was asked for my id (i am 68 years old and my buddy is 61) that we looked like we were "having too good of a time" and were not permitted to even enter the bar...I was not slurring or stumbling or close to being drunk nor was my buddy. The "door man" didn't suggest we take an Uber home or threaten to call the police if we got back in our SUV and drove away DUI, he was just interested in getting us off the property. First time that has ever happened to me...and I've been in bar joints around the world for forty years now.... I've read several other reviews along the same age discrimination lines. Hey Mr. Buc - if you don't want to serve older people just post a sign that says "no one under 21 or over 40 allowed in this club!". I may need to check with a local lawyer about an age discrimination suit just to put a check on this type of behavior by business owners.. discrimination should not be tolerated in any form....and to think that this bar is located in a town occupied by mostly senior citizens. Horrible!!! My ( Black) group of ten arrived at this establishment , as we got out the car and began to talk amongst ourselves I couldn't help but notice the door man go grab another doorman as they began roping off the entrance. I walk ahead of the majority of the group and ask how long the wait was. The disgusting man said... "they couldn't let us in." I say what do you mean? He says your party is too large. I said okay, can you split us up? He said no. They have a full house and wouldn't be letting anyone else in. Keep in mind. As we are talking two groups of four or five people walk out. He still wouldn't allow us in. As we talk a cop pulls up and one of the doorman goes to his vehicle and comes back and just stands behind the other main door guy and listens. By this time a small group of six ( Caucasian) was up and said hey to us and that they were excited to see us there. I said told the lady we couldn't get in. They won't allow us in. She said what do you mean? The gentleman changes his tone and tell her that they have a full house. Another group of five people walk out. So by this time everyone is like hey! 12-15 people have walked out can our group of ten get in. He proceeded to tell us we can now get in big our party of ten would have to stay at the picnic table that sits six whole the Caucasian group gets the comfy patio Funiture. Of course the Caucasian lady was excited, she walked past the door man with no mask, showed no Id and sits down. I was the second of our group to walk in. He flipped my Id over multiple times and reminds me to keep my mask on at all times. Also said we weren't allowed to move from our area to go to the bar, that the waitress would bring us a our stuff. I still walk in.... look at the lady from outside sitting WITH NO MASK ON! She asks me why do I have mines on. I told her what he'd stated. This is THE "local" hangout bar in Fredericksburg. Located about 2 blocks off of main, Buc's has pool tables and other games. Gets very crowded and loud as the evening progresses. Buc's is probably not the type of establishment a typical F*Burg visitor might seek out; however, it is one of three places in town that is open late (closes at 2am; expect for the new Whataburger that everyone is so excited about) and the kitchen serves adequate bar fare until about midnight. Their cheeseburger and choice of regular or curly fries hit the spot for late night munchies. If you desire a small retreat from all of the touristy charm that F*Burg has to offer stop by Buc's. Get to know the people who actually live and work in town, enjoy a few drinks, and maybe grab a bite. I say you haven't really been somewhere until you've eaten the food...and met the locals. Buc's is one of the few places that stays open late in town. So if you're looking for a extra 90 min for a drink this is the place. We found this place after going to a show at Luckenbach. It seems to have a decent crowd of younger people there, with a DJ and dancing. However, they will announce last call at 130am ( which is normal) & pick up your drinks at 1:40am ( unusual), while you're waiting to get your ya. closed. The crazy part is, 30 seconds after I received my final beer, a bouncer attempted to take my beer; it was 1:40am. That is a full 20 minutes prior to when TABC requires alcohol to stop being served. If you question the staff on the reason they are attempting to take your beverage 20 min early, they will scream like a pre-teen who is grounded on homecoming night. This lead to 2 other young bouncers attempting to walk me out. Even though I was not intoxicated, I was threatened with a criminal trespass by the young lady that was the manager. Thankfully the Gillespie County sheriff deputies were hanging outside the bar and witnessed it all. The Sargent deputy in duty told me, it sounds like you know the laws & enforcements of such laws. The deputies & I talked for a few minutes while the staff continually yelled for me to get off the property. Which at that point, I told the Sarg.. if you want to give me a formal written criminal trespass warning, I'll be happy to give my ID and politely wait. He laughed and said that's not necessary. All the deputies shook my hand and then I left. 20+ yrs in the bar/club industry.. I always remember the bad experiences, not the countless pros who keep you wanting to visit more. Shout out to the Gillespie County Sheriff ‍department for being professionals The moral of the story is.. don't go to Buc's, unless you want to be treated like you're in a college bar by a inexperienced manager who is young enough to be your kid. read more

This place is awful. We had a driver drop us off and I didn't get two steps out of the van before the bouncer pointed at me and told my cousin, "Your friend can't come in, she's too intoxicated." I was laughing thinking he was messing around with us b/c I was definitely not intoxicated. I was shocked and really trying to understand why he thought that, when I saw a man walking towards the entrance who kept tripping who was so drunk he couldn't even stand. And guess what?! He let him right in. Lol. Not sure the reasoning of who they do or don't let in, but they'll just say you're too intoxicated to justify. Get the Buc outta here. We were celebrating a friend's bachlorette party at Otto's when we were recommended that this place was "the only rap bar in Fredericksburg." Well, this place isn't a rap bar. It's actually just a bad excuse of a bar, filled with massive amount of smoke - the kind your momma warned you about. The kind that sneaks into your clothes, your hair, even your eyebrows, and never seem to want to leave. The kind that's intoxicating, making it hard to breathe. The kind that you try very hard to stay away from in fear of second hand smoking effects. This place had no one on the dance floor at 10pm on a Friday night. This place has booths around/on the dance floor where old creepy guys take snapchat videos of your friends dancing. This place has really nice older ladies in the front who direct you away from the bar and to Crossroads instead (listen to them!!!) Avoid this place at all costs, unless you really just want bright neon glow in the dark sweet tart shots for $3. read more
