Great place for brew and food. Good selection and atmosphere. Service great. Lots of tourist snd thru were getting food out fast. Lots of shops around this area.

Ewww, what happened? Granted we haven't been here in 6-7 years but man! This food has gone down hill! The scotch egg was drowning in coleslaw and the sausage was so thin. We got the grilled chicken sandwich the chicken was so thin. I was looking forward to eating here but we won't be back.

Pretty cool German themed brewery right on Main Street. We went for lunch as a large party and had a decent experience. Service and food was just okay. Beer was solid. I got the bratwurst sandwich with German potato salad. Brat to Swiss cheese to bread ratio was kinda off but it still tasted decent.

Food gets a "5". Pepper sausage was incredible as was the pretzel and bun that came with the sausage. Great mustard and cheese sauce for dipping as well. We sat at the bar and the bartender was an absolute miserable man trying to be a tough guy. It was two in the afternoon and we were on vacation just stopping for a beer and apps. This man wouldn't have a job if it weren't for people like us so maybe the entire business industry in town should think about that. Wouldn't return.

I have came here two separate times and I've had a great time each time. There's a lot of reviews about the waiters forgetting and such but each time I've came they have been so sweet and attentive. I got asked several times what else we needed and just regular check ups. They do have brewery stickers since I literally bought one. This place needs more love I swear! The food and drinks were delicious especially the salmon. The onion rings were done nicely as well. The overall place is clean and is very welcoming.

Jagerschnitzel???German Potato Salad???? My husband says no, it's overcooked pork with boxed or packet gravy. Very dry. Potato Salad was hot potatoes in vinegar. Ewwww. He lived in Germany for 6 years and NOTHING here tasted like more than b average and below average bar food. Go for the beer Hefeweizen was "not bad". Waitress was sweet, tea was weak. I don't recommend.

First time here and when we entered we were greeted and seated. We had not the best impression for first time dining because we were seated but no one came to take our drinks or food order. We waited for a while until a waitress came and then told us, " i don't know where your waitress is because she is no where to be found so i am going to step in to help. What drinks would you like?" We ordered for 2 waters and a honey cream ale. That waitress left and then a while later our waitress that we never met came with waters and put it on our table and told us one moment and walk away. We were baffled because there was like only 3 other tables (including us) that is seated. Our waitress didn't seem happy and then after a while later came back to take our order. We had ordered: 0/5 stars: the artichoke dip it was all cream and lacked salt and flavor. It just taste like cream of mushroom consistency and bland. It wasn't cheesy and just cream. The tortilla chips were not fresh and stale. 0/5: sausage sampler the grey sausage was uneatable. It was dry and just didn't taste good like it was bad. The pepperwurst texture was not bonded together and was way off. One of the sausage was ok but it wasn't anything special. Our order of sides were wrong. The side of sauerkraut was very salty and acidic. The red cabbage was super sweet. 0/5 JAGER SCHNITZEL the pork was dry and under seasoned. I felt ill after having a couple of bites of my meal and stopped. The German potato salad was bland and unappetizing. The potato tasted like it was from a can. Onion rings were drenched in oil and super greasy. Under seasoned as well. 0/5: peach cobbler: we were excited anout the peach cobbler since Fredericksburg was known for their peaches but we received raw pie dough that wasn't entirely cooked. It tasted like raw flour and the strangest thing is the vanilla ice cream doesn't taste like normal vanilla ice cream. It's not sweet and bland. I have no idea how that can be possible. 4/5: honey cream ale - this was the only item we enjoyed. Hint of honey and it was smooth. Do I recommend this place? Maybe just go for the beers. The service and food is not recommended unless you prefer bland food and a tummy ache.

This is one of my favorite breweries In Fredericksburg, downtown and close to all the shops. I always love their beer with a hot pretzel definitely my go to nosh.

A stop in Fredericksburg usually means enjoying the shops, having some coffee with delicious German dessert, and enjoying some German food. So this is exactly the intent when going to Fredericksburg Brewery. Fredericksburg brewery brews its own craft beer, has a beergarten and also a bed-and-breakfast. For this visit, luckily, it wasn't very full. I ordered their Wurst Sandwich, which is a choice of sausage in a toasted hoagie with Swiss cheese and sauerkraut and a side. It was pretty good, and at $12, an ok price. The other person in my group ordered a club sandwich which came with a side of fries. The service was good but not extraordinary. The place has a very comfortable feel and they brew their own beer, so it certainly worth a visit.

Food was great. Burger had really good flavor. Bet was delicious. Service was super slow today though and that's the main reason they are not get 5 stars. I would have drank probably 2 beers during lunch but never got the opportunity to order another one before we left. I've been here several times before when traveling to Fredericksburg and will be back next time as well. Atmosphere is VERY loud.

Tasty food that was reasonably priced. The servers were lovely and the place had a great vibe. My friend and I shared a burger and fries that was huge!

Came here with a friend on a random Sunday evening! We were one of 4 parties at this establishment to eat that night (biggest group there was 2-3 people), and feel like we got the better end of the deal for it! Service was still fairly slow, but the waitress was kind, but her leisurely attitude in checking on us kept me from drinking as many beers as I probably would have.. So maybe that's a good thing actually haha. But, I had 2 different brews - both were great - and shared the pretzel appetizer (fairly good), and ate the Schinken Schnitzel (or something like that). Food was decent, atmosphere was fun :) Overall: Not sure if I'd ever be jumping up and down to come back, but wouldnt be opposed to do so! ‍

Ask the Community - Fredericksburg Brewing

Is smoking allowed in the outdoor area?

No. The outdoor area is actually enclosed and is part of the restaurant (only a little separated).

Is there a dog friendly area at this location?

I saw a dog in there while I was eating so I think so.

Are we able to sit down for drinks or only curbside?

Unless it has recently changed you should be able to go in for drinks and food.

We came in just to get some beer, but it had more of a restaurant feel than traditional brewery. We sat in the bar area, and whenever I go to a new brewery, I always get a flight to try multiple beers. Altstadt has flights but they are prefixed, you can't make your own. Slight irritation but nothing major. I ended up getting a more German style flight with a Kolsch, Hefe, Lager, and Amber. They were all good with the Hefe being my favorite. I am usually an IPA fan, and they had one, but I was not able to try it. We weren't that hungry, so we just ordered some fries with beer cheese. These were crisp little pillows of heaven, and the cheese was a perfect dip. The menu was heaven on German food, but there's a wide range with some upscale items as well. The place was probably too fancy for me and my Homer Simpson hoodie, but they were still accommodating. Next time I will wear better clothes and have dinner but let me pick my own flight please.

There's inside and outside seating as well as bar. You enter and they hand you the menus. Despite the red neon order here sign right next to the entrance counter, it's not readily apparent that you do indeed order there. And I noticed it wasn't just us waiting for someone to come take our order as we waited. You seat yourself so unless they tell you directly to order at the counter you could miss it. So when the red neon sign finally clicked in my head, I went over to order. But while I was ordering two more parties came up and asked if they needed to order there. So maybe some more clarity up front outside the sign haha I ordered the Cali burger, my son had a burger, and they had a fajita special that his mom ordered. We also ordered a pretzel. Obviously being a pub they had beers. Non/alcoholic was a limited assorted of coke fair. Only unsweetened tea. No lemonade. Pretzel was soft and delicious. My son's mom loved the fajitas and the beans that came with them. The burgers were also really good. Bread nice and soft. Patties a good thickness. We all enjoyed what we had. No fries though. You get chips for your potato fix. The staff was also very friendly. It wasn't too loud in there and we were able to talk easily. If you're hungry don't pass them by.

They were pretty booked up but as it was cold outside they let us switch our reservation from patio to bar seating. We really enjoyed our meal. The waiters were very attentive and happy to talk through the menu with us. Ultimately we decided on a pretzel as our appetizer, with lamb chops as our entree to share and a side of kasespatzle. The pretzel was warm and a nice size and we thoroughly enjoyed the beer cheese. We finished the cheese halfway through the pretzel and the waiters were kind enough to bring us another one. Next for the kasespatzle - which from my understanding is the German version of mac and cheese. It was very tasty and hearty! More filling than I expected. The lamb chops were the crown jewel of the night - rich and succulent and paired so well with the asparagus. The chef was kind enough to make another lamb chop for us as she saw how the meat shrunk while cooking it. The meal was so tasty and a good size for sharing! We were very full by the end. It's great the way it is, and trying to make it fancy doesn't make it better. But I've always thought that if a restaurant has only a few options on its menu, they had better all be great, and I didn't find that to be the case at Otto's. One of us had the schnitzel au gratin, which seemed more to be like a chicken Parmesan. I had the duck schnitzel. I would say they were just both OK. The fried potatoes that came with the au gratin schnitzel were left largely untouched on my companion's plate. There wasn't much flavor to my red cabbage, and my spaetzel seemed to be more like a modern day risotto. And this at a restaurant that makes you leave your credit card for a reservation and threatens to charge if you cancel less than 24 hours before. For that, it had better knock my socks off. When the dish arrived, however, the steak was clearly overcooked and closer to well done than medium-rare. When we raised the concern, the waiter claimed she had told us the meat would come out anywhere from medium-rare to well done due to how it sits in the warmer, and then suggested we must have misunderstood her initial explanation. This contradiction was frustrating and unprofessional, especially as it felt like our concern was being dismissed rather than addressed. Both the waiter and manager insisted the steak was cooked correctly, despite it clearly not being medium-rare. After we sent it back, they replaced it with a filet that was prepared properly. They did remove the original entrée from the bill, but then charged us for the filet at cost. Given the situation, it would have been more appropriate to simply substitute the filet at the original menu price. Unfortunately, my meal was also very underwhelming. The fish lacked flavor and was not enjoyable. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, especially for a special anniversary dinner. I will say -- the hummus plate was delightful.
