Went to Fredericksburg for a couple of nights with friends. Ate dinner at Fredericksburg Brewing Company. We all have here before and Loved their Food, Service and Cold Beer. I ordered their "Oma's" Meatloaf, which I have had before. This time I think someone forgot to mix it up because the first bite was Super Spicy that it felt like my mouth was on fire. After a couple of bites, the Heat was much less, with no spiciness the last couple of bites. Everything else on the plate was absolutely delicious. The others ordered the same thing, the Reuben, and they all said it was the Best Reuben Ever. Lots of Corned Beef and very, very tasty. The Beer was Cold and the Wine was a decent-sized pour. For dessert, we shared their Peach Cobbler. It was served Heat Hot, had a crunchy outer crust, and Very Fresh Peaches. Gaelyn was our Server, and she was the Best. Funny, checked on us at the right times and earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award for going 'above-n-beyond' the norm. We also had her before several years back and she remembered us. Fredericksburg Brewing Company ROCKS every time we have been there. It's a must Go-To when visiting Fredericksburg. Their prices are below the norm anywhere in town - and they have COLD BEER.
What do mean the jagerschitzel isn't served with spaetzle? Food was OK. Place kinda looks like a beer hall. Just wasn't overly impressed. Oh, it really is a brewery, and a transfer pump ran during the entirety of of meal. Did not like this either. Next time I'll head a little further east for a beer.
Great place for brew and food. Good selection and atmosphere. Service great. Lots of tourist snd thru were getting food out fast. Lots of shops around this area.
Brewery #374 Ordinarily I hate giving 1-star reviews because that means I had a bad experience. A month has passed since I visited, and I am now happy to write this review. We came in sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas on a rainy night and were seated right away. After waiting like 10 mins the waiter came and took our drink order. The ladyfriend had a water and I got a flight of beer. He showed up 5 mins later with her water and took our food order. We order a pretzel as an appetizer, and each ordered a salad as an entree. Then queue the Jeopardy theme as we waited. 1st came out the salads after 15 mins or so. I asked about my beer and the waiter says, "yeah dude I asked the bartender and he said you'd get it before Christmas" and proceeds to laugh. I smile and let it go. So now I am watching the bartender and he's not busy. He actually took other people's order at the bar. Then comes the pretzel 10 mins later. The waiter says, "Can I get you anything else?" I say, "Yeah my beer. How am I supposed to eat this without anything to drink?' He says " woah dude don't kill the messenger". I then went full Karen and asked to speak to a manager who never came. Finally, after finishing the salad and a piece if the pretzel, the beer came. I got my order completely out of order. The pretzel was stale, and the cheese was cold. The salad was fine, and the beer was average. The service sucked and the bartender was an assclown. Tourist trap craphole and oh they didn't even have brewery stickers.
Food was ok. We started with the fried pickles which were very good had a little crunch and it was fried perfectly. As for the our entrees I had the Jager Schnitzel not a lot of flavor and the Bavarian style mushroom sauce was bland and as for my sides the German potato salad was delicious and the breaded fries were good. My friend ordered the Oma's Meatloaf he said it was ok as for his 2 sides mashed potatoes and a side salad. I also ordered the sampler beers and those were very good really enjoyed the taste the beers I ordered was the peach pipe pale ale was my favorite I also tried the Honey Cream ale and Harper Valley I.P.A.
Pretty cool German themed brewery right on Main Street. We went for lunch as a large party and had a decent experience. Service and food was just okay. Beer was solid. I got the bratwurst sandwich with German potato salad. Brat to Swiss cheese to bread ratio was kinda off but it still tasted decent.
Food gets a "5". Pepper sausage was incredible as was the pretzel and bun that came with the sausage. Great mustard and cheese sauce for dipping as well. We sat at the bar and the bartender was an absolute miserable man trying to be a tough guy. It was two in the afternoon and we were on vacation just stopping for a beer and apps. This man wouldn't have a job if it weren't for people like us so maybe the entire business industry in town should think about that. Wouldn't return.
Jagerschnitzel???German Potato Salad???? My husband says no, it's overcooked pork with boxed or packet gravy. Very dry. Potato Salad was hot potatoes in vinegar. Ewwww. He lived in Germany for 6 years and NOTHING here tasted like more than b average and below average bar food. Go for the beer Hefeweizen was "not bad". Waitress was sweet, tea was weak. I don't recommend.
Ewww, what happened? Granted we haven't been here in 6-7 years but man! This food has gone down hill! The scotch egg was drowning in coleslaw and the sausage was so thin. We got the grilled chicken sandwich the chicken was so thin. I was looking forward to eating here but we won't be back.
First time here and when we entered we were greeted and seated. We had not the best impression for first time dining because we were seated but no one came to take our drinks or food order. We waited for a while until a waitress came and then told us, " i don't know where your waitress is because she is no where to be found so i am going to step in to help. What drinks would you like?" We ordered for 2 waters and a honey cream ale. That waitress left and then a while later our waitress that we never met came with waters and put it on our table and told us one moment and walk away. We were baffled because there was like only 3 other tables (including us) that is seated. Our waitress didn't seem happy and then after a while later came back to take our order. We had ordered: 0/5 stars: the artichoke dip it was all cream and lacked salt and flavor. It just taste like cream of mushroom consistency and bland. It wasn't cheesy and just cream. The tortilla chips were not fresh and stale. 0/5: sausage sampler the grey sausage was uneatable. It was dry and just didn't taste good like it was bad. The pepperwurst texture was not bonded together and was way off. One of the sausage was ok but it wasn't anything special. Our order of sides were wrong. The side of sauerkraut was very salty and acidic. The red cabbage was super sweet. 0/5 JAGER SCHNITZEL the pork was dry and under seasoned. I felt ill after having a couple of bites of my meal and stopped. The German potato salad was bland and unappetizing. The potato tasted like it was from a can. Onion rings were drenched in oil and super greasy. Under seasoned as well. 0/5: peach cobbler: we were excited anout the peach cobbler since Fredericksburg was known for their peaches but we received raw pie dough that wasn't entirely cooked. It tasted like raw flour and the strangest thing is the vanilla ice cream doesn't taste like normal vanilla ice cream. It's not sweet and bland. I have no idea how that can be possible. 4/5: honey cream ale - this was the only item we enjoyed. Hint of honey and it was smooth. Do I recommend this place? Maybe just go for the beers. The service and food is not recommended unless you prefer bland food and a tummy ache.
I have came here two separate times and I've had a great time each time. There's a lot of reviews about the waiters forgetting and such but each time I've came they have been so sweet and attentive. I got asked several times what else we needed and just regular check ups. They do have brewery stickers since I literally bought one. This place needs more love I swear! The food and drinks were delicious especially the salmon. The onion rings were done nicely as well. The overall place is clean and is very welcoming.
A stop in Fredericksburg usually means enjoying the shops, having some coffee with delicious German dessert, and enjoying some German food. So this is exactly the intent when going to Fredericksburg Brewery. Fredericksburg brewery brews its own craft beer, has a beergarten and also a bed-and-breakfast. For this visit, luckily, it wasn't very full. I ordered their Wurst Sandwich, which is a choice of sausage in a toasted hoagie with Swiss cheese and sauerkraut and a side. It was pretty good, and at $12, an ok price. The other person in my group ordered a club sandwich which came with a side of fries. The service was good but not extraordinary. The place has a very comfortable feel and they brew their own beer, so it certainly worth a visit.
We went on a Saturday evening. It was relatively empty which should have been a clue. We ordered chicken fried steak. I had garlic mashed potatoes and coleslaw and my wife had garlic mashed potatoes and sweet potato fries. So - if we were only rating them on the chicken fried steak they would get a '5'. The steak wasn't a large portion but the gravy had a great flavor. The breading wasn't overly done and it wasn't greasy and there was no gristle in the steak. It was really good. The meal went downhill from there. The coleslaw wasn't actually bad - it was mayo based and fairly creamy - very creamy - actually too creamy. The garlic mashed potatoes were just not good. They were dry, not smooth and the flavor was definitely off. We each only had two bites. The sweet potato fries were waffle fries and they were rubbery - not crispy at all. Given all of the other food options in Fredericksburg we definitely won't be going back. read more
On a whim about a month ago, I planned a vacation to Fredericksburg based solely around how much I loved the brewery when I lived there with my dad 32 years ago, when I was 14. The brewery was the first place I ever had a scotch egg, my dad would get a small beer flight, maybe we'd get a brat, he made it fun. I'm pretty sure it had just opened back then. We got into town, checked in at the Trueheart Hotel, and immediately walked to the brewery because I was so excited. I probably went in to this with the unrealistic expectation that it would be the same as when I was a kid. It had a great start. The hostess was nice, and our server was, too. I wish we had gotten to sit in the back room with the long tables, We started with the beer flight and a scotch egg. The beer flight was okay. I was expecting really good German beers, mind-blowing, but these were just fine. A pale ale, an IPA, a flat porter were on the list, just not a memorable selection, although the red ale was good. The flight was a good price, though. For our appetizer, I wasn't expecting such a small scotch egg for $9. I mean, it was really small. I've been to several places around my area for scotch eggs, and they're usually $11-12 for two and they're properly sized. But we're on vacation and I wanted nostalgia so fine. It was delicious, and the creole mustard the scotch egg comes with was divine. More on that later. For our meals we tried both schnitzels. I was disappointed they don't have spaetzle, I'm pretty sure they used to. My boyfriend had the schinken and I had the jager. I don't like ham but his was infinitely better because of the gravy. The gravy on the jager schnitzel I got was heavy with some seasoning, maybe sage. It's all I could taste, and I couldn't just push the gravy off because my pork was fried to death. I barely ate any of mine. The sides we got (you get two per plate) were German potato salad, fries, onion rings, and vegetable medley. The fries and onion rings were great, especially when dipping in the creole mustard we saved from the scotch egg. The German potato salad is supposed to be sweet and sour and my boyfriend usually likes it, but this was way sweet, he wasn't a fan. The vegetable medley was good, but seemed really out of place as a side, normally with schnitzel you'd expect green beans or a salad or something, we got broccoli and squash. They did have a side salad, but it was $5. Not sure why a side salad couldn't just replace the two sides for no upcharge. I will say the rolls were awesome. At the end our server let us sit and hang out for a few minutes, he didn't rush us. We asked if they sell the creole mustard in bottles but they don't, so he said we could pay $5 for a togo container of it. We got probably a cup, so I was fine with that, I really loved it that much. We paid, I noticed he charged us $5 for tarter sauce that we didn't have, figured it was the only way to ring up the mustard. We left with our prized creole mustard. Cut to this weekend when we opened it to make a sandwich, and what we actually got was tarter sauce, so somewhere along the way he'd forgotten what we asked for. We live 200 miles from Fredericksburg, there's no fixing that, but maybe that's on me because I should have checked it. They really should sell bottles of that mustard, it's very good. Overall, it just wasn't the experience I was expecting. It's not the same, it's been over 30 years so I totally understand, and I did try to be fair with my critique. After reading through some of the recent reviews, we were hesitant in coming here because of some of the service and food issues. Since there are no business owner responses, the problems could be persisting. However, we've enjoyed our time here in the past so we thought we'd try it again. We got here at 5 pm on a Thursday and the place was mostly empty. That usually translates into better service and likely a better prepared meal as well. Sure enough, this theory was correct. We had two craft beers on the table within three minutes followed by Ruben fritters five minutes after that. The menu here is pretty simple with the expected German twist to it. We just stuck to a salad and burger. The salad was fresh and good, but the burger was pretty average and you have to add your own mayo and mustard. Even by adding cheese and mushrooms it still fell within the three star range and the fries were just OK. The beers were correct to style, but the hoppier beers were slightly tame. It's pretty much three stars overall, but the service was great so 31/2*. I'd still come back and try something else off the menu before the weekend and before 6. read more

Stopped by on a Friday around lunch time & had a great experience sitting at the bar. Gaelyn was very nice and attentive, as well as informative about the beer flight! The Rueben Fritters were amazing too!! We will definitely be back. read more

This is one of my favorite breweries In Fredericksburg, downtown and close to all the shops. I always love their beer with a hot pretzel definitely my go to nosh. read more

Food was great. Burger had really good flavor. Bet was delicious. Service was super slow today though and that's the main reason they are not get 5 stars. I would have drank probably 2 beers during lunch but never got the opportunity to order another one before we left. I've been here several times before when traveling to Fredericksburg and will be back next time as well. Atmosphere is VERY loud. read more
This place is a must try visiting Fredericksburg. Start with a pint of their great craft beer paired with the Scotch Egg. There are several German inspired selections personally the Bratzwurst plate offers a variety of flavors from sour, bitter, savory, and sweet. The coleslaw is amazing as well as all the mustard dips. read more
Had the schnitzel and Rueben sandwich. Both were good, but nothing exceptional. The sauerkraut was probably some of the best that I've ever had!! We each had a couple of their beers, and they were good. We sat at the bar top, and although it was busy, the service was efficient, but not very friendly. read more

Came here with a friend on a random Sunday evening! We were one of 4 parties at this establishment to eat that night (biggest group there was 2-3 people), and feel like we got the better end of the deal for it! Service was still fairly slow, but the waitress was kind, but her leisurely attitude in checking on us kept me from drinking as many beers as I probably would have.. So maybe that's a good thing actually haha. But, I had 2 different brews - both were great - and shared the pretzel appetizer (fairly good), and ate the Schinken Schnitzel (or something like that). Food was decent, atmosphere was fun :) Overall: Not sure if I'd ever be jumping up and down to come back, but wouldnt be opposed to do so! read more

Fredericksburg Brewing is a great place to visit if you're looking for a German experience in Texas. We didn't get a chance to try the food but the dining hall part of the brewery was very busy when we visited so I'm sure that's a testimony to their food. The beer we tried was very great and there were plenty of places to sit in their bar portion of the establishment. There were also a couple of games to play while having a drink which is always fun. Giving the 4 stars cause there wasn't any music playing while we were there and I think that would have just amplified the experience and ambiance. read more

Fun place with good German food and great beer. We got a flight. Be prepared it includes EVERY single beer they make- all 8! It was the biggest flight I have ever had. Food was good the service was slow and ok. read more
Stumbled in here for lunch in Fredericksburg. It's conveniently located on the corner on Main Street. It is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. We were seated immediately in the dining room. There is also plenty of bar seating and more picnic style seating in the biergarten. We ordered a spread of appetizers - egg rolls, chicken wings spinach dip and a bowl of chili. Everything was tasty. The chili was a lil heavy on the meat for me, but was flavorful and the Cornbread it comes with was really good. Customer service was friendly and quicker than I would've expected for a Saturday afternoon. I would definitely return to indulge in entrees next time. read more

I usually find restaurants are overrated on yelp, but this one is the opposite. Sure this is not a Michelin star restaurant but the food was not bad at all. We ordered the sausage sampler. Not only the different wurst are good, the fries and onion ring are fresh. The best part ia that you can sample different beers for $2 a small glass and you can build your own flight. What's not to love? Service was passable but definitely no issue whatsoever. read more
I thoroughly enjoyed the Reuben sandwich and German potato salad. My husband liked the Philly cheesesteak and fries. Our friend had the schnitzel. He said it was very good. Our waitress was amazing. She checked on us constantly. There was a huge party of 60 people, and she made sure that we got our order in before them. I gave it four stars because the of the price of our bottle of wine. The bottle cost $14 in the store and it cost $40 in the restaurant. read more
Food is 3.5 stars, service is 1.5 stars. We had to chase down Jovana to order and she had no follow up till bringing us the check. The Chicken Club was not made plain as we asked. Coke products served in can, no refills, at a brewey? Onion Rings too greasy should have been fried at higher temp. Sausage Sampler plenty for two or a good appitiser. Welcome host was extreamly friendly. Located downtown on south side of Main street. Street parking can be a bit tough when busy. Lots of air movement. Nice restrooms. Not Beer drinkers so no feedback on product. They need some simple drink food items on menu. They also need to tweek for great table service. I guess if you drink you will not notice. read more
