Now... some of the people I've run into here, including Wheaton Police officers.... that's a different story. I have had bad interactions with police, homeless and the typical uppity Wheaton-ite here. I'm not sure if people come here and figure since it's a convenient store they can act like turds, or they are turds in general. The store has a descent amount of stuff here and for what I typically get, they hardly ever ran out of it. I will miss the old owners, the new Staff seems nice (Naomi is running the store now) and hopefully they continue to stay that way.

They have many items in bulk, a large fruit and vegetable section, prepared items, meat and seafood and all the seasonings, rice, and noodles. We purchased a bunch of prepared food since we were hungry and the food stalls hadn't opened yet. Prices were normal Asian food prices - they did have a few sales going on. Overall we loved it and hope to bring a cooler and dry ice next time!

But when you see 10 items on the shelf above the $9.99 sign, you would automatically think okay, it's $9.99, but at the register it's $12.99. I snapped a picture to prove that there were more than one box above the price. (I could have clapped back and said then your workers should read and be able to put things on the right shelf). Produce that's rotten is sold so make sure you are opening up boxes and packages. Wish I took pictures of the rotting produce. At least I didn't buy those. Saw my receipt that they charged $1.29/lb for my Korean radish which should have been 79 cents. UGH! Guys, pay attention to how they are ringing you up. Two transactions in a row with multiple mistakes. I asked to talk with the manager. The female worker said she is not here and will come at 12noon. Then said actually will come tomorrow. Went to the Customer Service desk and the guy there said the manager is in the bathroom. Both workers started to talk to each other in Spanish. The female worker telling him, tell her the manager is not coming back until tomorrow. I told them I can speak Spanish and I understood everything they said. They got quiet very quickly. There were at least 5 people waiting in line after me and the ONLY person checking people out, had to go talk to the pharmacist about another problem I had with them not filling a prescription that I received a text saying it was ready, and she neglected to have any of the other 4 people working in the pharmacy fill in for her while she spent at least 15 minutes sorting out my problem. Finally, after she got my prescription filled, someone came to ring people up. And there was someone in the pharmacy who appeared to be from corporate with who I assumed was the store manager, both completely clueless to what was going on. The woman helping me never said a word to him about the issues going on at the moment. Don't cry for me, Argentina. This is basically my dream evening. Alone doesn't mean lonely for this little lady. I've got my opinions to keep me warm. Hashtag Favorite Valentines. After sitting in mind-numbing traffic for a 3-hour drive from the north shore, I started to get the 4th meal hunger pangs, but was dreading the thought of going out to eat on Valentine's Day and having to look at people who weren't stars of the show 'Oz', my current obsession, if yo haven't figured that out already. I decided to utilize the #3 speed dial on my phone and put in a take-out order at Downers Grove's Thai Cafe... only everyone else in the area had those same plans so instead of my order taking the typical 15 minutes, it was going to take 35. My plan was to wait it out in the strip mall parking lot and go in when could see my order come up through the window so I would have to talk to as few people as possible, but then I saw Downtown Food Mart just a storefront away in the same strip, and decided I'd spend my time in the rather dicey looking convenience mart in hopes of them having Takis, my favorite snack/breakfast, lunch, dinner food. I go in, and think, 'erm, this place is kinda set up like a crap hole.' Empty displays, weird non-stacking of 89 cent cat food cans that for whatever reason made my blood boil, and no Takis in the snack and chip aisle. What the hell? This place is NOT for anyone with a hint of OCD. I still had a good 15 minutes before my bulk Thai food order would be ready, so I decided to continue to peruse every aisle, and the more I looked, the more I liked. They had a pretty good selection of wine. It's over-priced, obvi, but pretty much all the wines are discount wines anyone so still nothing that'll break your bank. I was super pissed about the non-presence of Takis until I got to the marquee, front and center stand by the register that was chock full of Takis. Like, 4 different kinds, and all were super cheap at $1.39, compared to the $2.49 I'd pay at other grocery stores. Bada bing! I'm checking out and the guy behind the counter doesn't mention anything about the stupid non-holiday that's occurring, which I greatly appreciate, and instead asks if I like spicy stuff. Well, heck yes! I live for spicy! And then he proceeds to give me his spicy food recommendations and we swap ghost pepper stories for the next 5 minutes and part by exchanging names. His name is Raj. Raj is awesome. I will be back to purchase more Takis (possibly also overpriced wine and cat food if the hour is right) from Raj.
