We were going out to eat for my kids Birthday and decided to try something local. I have lived in Everett for over 30 years and have never been to Buck's. I read through the history of the restaurant and was excited to try a new Everett place. I was going to make a reservation and tried opentable and it said, many times, there were no tables available. The next day I tried a different link that was on google through opentable and wala no problem. Anyways there were 4 of us. We ordered the cheese ravioli as an appetizer. I ordered the special which was oven roasted black cod and roasted rosemary potatoes. My sons ordered the chicken parmesan and the macadamia encrusted cod. My sons girlfriend ordered the Springuine. The chicken parmesan got a thumbs up as well as the cheese ravioli. The pasta got a thumbs up but the vegetables were overgrilled. My son liked his macadamia cod. My special, well I was so disappointed. My protein size was less than half of my sons cod. It was cooked well but 4 bites seems a little short. Don't sell the special if you are out please. The potatoes were past the point of being usable for mashed potatoes. I think they forgot the rosemary. My roasted potatoes are better. Just saying. It's Cruising Colby Weekend. I was hoping for some excitement. I found none at Buck's. I will try them again. They are a local place for me and I want them to do well. read more

Buck's is great. The owner is there all the time. Food is pricey but good. They have a monthly dinner special that runs M-TH and is always $10. For example, in October it was a 6oz steak with Prawns, garlic mashed potatoes, and veggies. Would recommend the Chicken Parm. You can get it with all red sauce, but they typically do it with red on the chicken and alfredo on the pasta. Their bread comes with this awesome whipped butter. I would go there just for the bread. Also, the Peanut Butter Pie is really freakin good...if you somehow manage to have room left over afterwards. Only thing I dislike about the place is that there's no air conditioning in the summer and during a recent cold snap the place was damn cold inside. read more

Great food and service! The name and decor of the place make you think of a burger joint; however, they are serving seriously good food that you would find at a high end restaurant. We plan on going back...especially just to try some of their desserts! I love this restaurant. I love the old building that it is in. I love the food and I love the staff. Everyday they have yummy specials and my 2 favorites are the meatloaf and the pot roast. I have eaten a lot of different foods off the the menu and they are all good. My favorites are the cod almondine, crab cakes and their rib steak. Also, the staff at Buck's is incredibility nice, hard working and very efficient. Great place for brunch on Sundays. I highly recommend it. read more

Bucks American Cafe is one of my favorite restaurants to visit. The service is always great and the food is good too! On Monday nights, they have half price bottles of wine and they are also part of the Passport Restaurant (buy one, get one free) program. I also enjoy going Friday and Saturday nights for their excellent Prime Rib! And, their Peanut Butter Pie is the best I've ever had!! I just wish I could get the recipe! read more

Over rated and over priced in my opinion. But I've only been there twice and one of them was St. Patrick's Day. There was live (intolerable) music and the menu was mainly potatoes. On a day that's not a holiday, you'll be paying $17 for a burger. read more

The Buck Stops Here We went to Bucks for the first and last time on a Saturday night, 7:00. 1st they lost our reservation. Then, after being seated we ordered one vodka tonic and a couple sodas which then took a long time to arrive at the table. Once we got our drinks we ordered. It took 40-45 minutes to get our Pork Osso Bucco, Chicken Parmesan, and a Rib Eye steak and then after that long wait the food was cold. My wife said the pork was tasty but disappointed that the meat, mashed potatoes and veggies were very cold. The chicken was at least luke warm and average tasting at best. My Rib Eye was a very fatty cut of beef. All this for a $100+ bill which is too pricey for what you get (no salad, no soup). read more

My husband was in the hospital on New year's eve, so I thought it would be nice to order dinner to go from one of our long time favorite establishments. Previously being in the restaurant service for over 25 years, I know holidays can be very busy. I asked the 1st person that answered the phone if I could place an order to go, and was politely put on hold. When the next person answered, I asked again, "can I place an order to go?" Reply, "what would you like?" I then asked if they had prime rib, reply, "no" , OK, my next question, do you have any specials(not knowing if the menu was limited), reply, "we have lots of them, and I'm really busy" word to the wise....you never know who is going to be on the other end of the phone, and regardless of how busy you are, there's really no reason to be rude. unfortunately my husband and I will no longer frequent this establishment. read more

We had take out from Bucks because of the virus and were not disappointed. I had meatloaf w/ garlic mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables and my wife had the chicken wrap. Both were excellent choices. We also had a clam chowder as an appetizer and a peanut butter pie for desert. The only thing missing was the moose head on the wall. When here with coworkers and it was a great choice period never been there before but I've heard great things about it. Buck's is charming, comfortable, a little quirky and the food is always delicious. My favorite is the wedge salad and chicken parmesan. They make the best Monte Cristo's of any on in Snohomish that I have tried. Sunday brunch and Monday special lunch. All for $9.00. Other items are good also. Their fish and chips are very good. French Fries are a favorite of mine. Do not know how they fix theirs, but they are crispy on the outside, nice and soft on the inside. Besides they go good with the raspberry jam (from the Monte Cristo). Their hamburgers are large, and good. We are on their email list, and we received a nice coupon for our anniversary dinner. For the missing star --- A group of us ladies go there occasionally for Monday Monte Cristos. One Monday they did not have any at 1 pm. Because they had run out of bread. I must say though, they did go to the store (1 block away) and got bread for us. Another time they ran out of jam. How can you eat a Monte Cristo without raspberry jam? Over all, I really like this place. Bick's has been there in one place for 30 years. The waitresses are polite, quick to refill your drinks, etc. The chef is very nice. We went back because a friend wanted to try it out. He got sick at the last minute but as we already had a gift certificate we went back, despite our lack of enthusiasm at spending one of our kid free, eat out nights at a place that failed to impress. However, we thought that perhaps we were wrong and needed to try again before we wrote it off 100%. We were seated promptly but then ignored for 5 minutes. Waiters rushed by but no one offered us a drink. Our waitress arrived and did not say good evening or tell us about the specials or anything. We gave our drink and app order. 10 minutes later she's back saying they are out of my drink and the computers were down so are apps just got put in. That was not true. I saw people entering stuff the whole time as it was practically right in front of me. I get another drink (vodka-cran) and it tastes like cough medicine. I had my husband taste and he too thought it was bad. I was annoyed so I just drank it anyway. Despite being a lightweight it did nothing for me. I wonder now if there was even alcohol in it. I followed it up with a blueberry-pomegranate (misspelled on the menu) martini that was also lackluster and didn't taste of alcohol. Crab cakes arrive. Eh. Salads come. Meh. Mains come (duck for me, prime rib for him). Utterly unimpressive. Duck has to have a crisply, well-cooked skin or its just bad and rubbery. The skin was so tough and rubbery that I couldn't cut it with my knife. I had to peel it off to get to the meat underneath and that was no special thing either. Dessert was probably the highlight. The peanut-butter pie was huge and delish. I shared that with the hubby because they were out of my dessert. I heard the waiters saying they were out of a lot of stuff to other tables. I am not one that usually complains, however, I felt I should say something. Food was average, but when trying to use a discount card, was told could not, as it is a holiday. I guess I get that, but from that point, we were treated very rudely!!!. Went to talk to with the manager, he was more determined to tell us how wrong we were and just seemed to want to make his point. When I left, I asked for his mangers name so we could call and discuss. He advised he was the owner.. I guess when you own the place, you can act however you want. I have been here twice. !st time was good overpriced but good. the second time was absolutely horrible it was a game night(silver tips).they were busy I understand but we waited over an hour and a half for are food before we walked out. We've been to Bucks several times before. A folksy local cafe - a place we want to succeed. But this was a fail. Service was horrible - the place had 4 tables filled when we came in - it took 10 minutes to order (and we said we were in a hurry) and 30 minutes to get our meal. And the food was meh. I had the blue plate special and my wife had grilled salmon. And I specifically asked for no red onions on my salad - yeah, I'm one of those - and the salad came with those little suckers smiling back at me. We hadn't been to Buck's in a while but were drawn in by their 29th anniversary special, halibut and chips for $10. Now that Chef James is the owner, things are different but in many ways better. We started with a DK IPA for my hubby and a generous pour (from a mini decanter) of wine for me. Then came the amazing stuffed portabella mushroom. We were both blown away by the flavor - grilled mushroom, goat cheese and onion marmalade in a balsamic reduction. I guess it looked like we were going to lick the plate so the owner brought us some sliced baguette. Not sure if our server forgot or the owner read our minds. Great quality sweet butter, too, with something else in it (paprika?). James said that he plans on pairing this mushroom with a tenderloin filet as an entrée at some point. We'll be back for that. I had the halibut and chips. The chips were crispy, the tartar homemade and wonderful, the fish portion ( 2 pieces) generous.. However, I'm thinking that the oil temp must have dropped with all the fish they were cooking as it could have been a little crisper. Guess I should have read the old review. I would have done 4 1/2 stars but 5 is close. Hubby had the pork osso bucco and was beyond thrilled. The portion was large and he loved the demiglace sauce. Garlic potatoes were great and the veggies were so good you wanted to eat them. Since he brought half of it home he can do that soon. We had to take the peanut butter pie home. Got to have it. So I have made it through all their options and each is more delicious than the last. Fish is never overcooked. Plates are beautifully decorated with food Best cooked but not overcooked veggies in the world. Absolutely amazing and delicious. Each entree is delicious and we all immediately gawk at what our neighbor has ordered to see if we want to trade bites or not- tough decision. Desserts are enviable- keep forgetting to order them first so I have room! The bar is fun. Busy. Great wines and the mixed drinks are delicious. I also love good flatware. It so elevates a dining experience. Favorite? Osso Buco, Salmon with peaches, Prime rib, seafood salad. yes, that is right, I can't pick a favorite. We reserved the back room at Bucks for an anniversary party for my parents recently. All parts of this process were made easier and more flexible by Jasper, our banquet/event coordinator. She was patient, responsive, and willing to walk me through each step (sometimes more than once) to make this event as easy to plan as possible. The great service continued throughout the duration of the actual event; nobody had to wait very long for drink refills as our dedicated server frequently made her rounds and quickly attended to our every need, the food was great and quantities as expected. We came here on New Year's eve and were a little disappointed that they had a very limited menu. It was the last day to use a coupon we had though, so we were kind of stuck. I really wish I could rate them higher than 2 stars, but my husband's steak was nearly inedible. He will eat almost anything, so when he says something isn't very good, it's really not good. I watched him try to cut that steak up with his steak knife, and let me tell you, it took a lot of effort. He wouldn't send it back though. My prime rib was pretty good, so they get an extra star for that, though I would have preferred traditional au jus to their "bbq" au jus. The highlight of the meal was the bread and the potato. The prices are really very high for the quality. I'd rather eat at Denny's and get a steak I could cut for much less money. We won't be returning. read more

Really good food. It is a nice mix of classic cooking and healthy choices. My meatloaf, mashed potatoes and veggies where just like Grandma use to make. My friends had a hot fish salad and a classic Ruben with flavorful fries. The inside was nice and bright, the service was good and the prices weren't to high for what we got. Buck's is very friendly and the food is stunning - great beer and wine menu and if you have your own special bottle of wine to bring it's only a $15 cork-fee - Shrimp cocktail during happy hour $5 was awesome - the homemade cocktail sauce was super flavorful with a nice kick of horseradish. Prime rib has been great both times I've ordered it - Beet salad is incredible and great as an appetizer. The salmon dish was cooked perfectly and the pecan pie and peanut butter pie are outrageous! We have also ordered the Duck and the Lamb Osso Bucco and have been amazed. Everything tastes like it should and the presentation has always been fabulous. Sometimes the wait time in between being seated and getting waters, or placing the first drink order has been a little longer than we've wanted, but it's a small family-owned restaurant with charm and have always left happy. read more

We left the upscale Asian restaurant across the street because the hostess was off putting and behaved as if we were bothering her. We had never been to Buck's but spied it as we walked to our car. Though they were packed and busy, we were immediately seated and given water and menu's. Beers came in under 3 minutes and our food shortly after. Every bite was scrumptious, the waitress swift and friendly without skipping a beat. Amidst all of that, we never felt rushed. The fried mushrooms and Caesar salad are so delicious! Wasn't so sure about this place at first, but after we gave this place a 2nd try, am sure we'll keep coming back. 1) Love the location. Nice quiet spot in Everett, where you may not expect to get a good meal. 2) Not really into the dead animals on the walls, but it is a cozy atmosphere. 3) Love the burger!
