San Diego East County backcountry Gem , finally a modern and delicious restaurant to have a great lunch or dinner and not a casino or gas station. Buckman BBQ is now the exception and welcomed. The lunch I had today was the baby back ribs that were fall off the bone delicious, dry rub seasoned and served with additional BBQ sauce on the side. Sides were the fresh potato salad and BBQ beans. Sweet tea was perfect and refreshing. I also ordered a bowl of Tritip chili, excellent and delicious ! I had so much food I had no room for dessert. This restaurant has now been opened for 7 months and thriving , I'll definitely be back with my friends and family. It's a great backcountry restaurant and midway drive location to have a great meal. Plenty of parking for RVs , Bikers, and paved. Enjoy ! read more

My husband and I went there for lunch. I had a pulled pork sandwich with corn which was Absolutely delicious. I really appreciated the coleslaw as well. The perfect blend of salty and sweet. My husband had the brisket sandwich with fries. He would like to reproduce it, but we could never come close, so we'll have to come back! So delicious read more

Wow! What can I say? The food was amazing! The tri-tip was great, as was the pulled pork, but the baby back ribs my favorite. Two surprises for me: the baked beans were excellent and the cornbread was delicious! I hate cornbread - it's always dry and grainy, but not at Buckman BBQ. It was more like yellow cake. I mean, you could frost it and serve it for dessert. Speaking of desserts, definitely try one of their special milkshakes. They throw a dessert into the blender along with the regular milkshake ingredients. We tried the cherry pie shake. Oh, God was it good. I want to try the apple pie one next, and the chocolate cake one! I wish I had thought to take some photos to add to my review. Maybe next time! read more

I am sad to report that this place was a huge disappointment last night. The only thing that I can say was FRESH was the fried pickles which were piping hot and delicious . The lettuce for the salad was limp and freezer burnt or old and way past its serve date. The "roasted corn" had been boiled first and for way too long and then charred black while still managing to be cold on the inside. The Tri-tip meat was barely warmed and the bone on the ribs was cold and the meat was room temp at best. The cornbread was tasty but wasn't warmed. The flavor was GOOD and if we had gotten fresh hot food this would have been a completely different experience and a completely different review. I will say the restaurant is clean and the staff weren't rude... read more

Food and the service was excellent. We had the tri tip and ribs with a Dino bone. The Dino bone was really good! Meat was tender read more

Went to try the barbecue today, Friday, and the place was closed. Sign said open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but not today. Nothing posted at the restaurant about the closure. Don't think I'll try again. Hate a place you can't depend on. read more

Let me just say this loud and clear: Buckman Barbecue is NOT bland, and no, it's not drowning in sauce either. You know why? Because the meat actually has flavor on its own. Sauce is optional here, not a cover-up. If a restaurant has to smother everything in BBQ sauce, it usually means they can't cook. That's not Buckman. Funny thing is, people rarely go out of their way to say nice things, they're quick to jump online and complain instead. But while I was at Buckman, I heard table after table complimenting the food. Nobody was saying "bland." Everyone was saying how good it was. The meat? Tender and packed with flavor. The loaded baked potato? Probably the best I've ever had in my life. The service? On point every time. This little spot in the mountains might look small, but trust me, it's doing BIG things. read more

I usually get the brisket and street corn. Today I decided to try the ribs and was so happy I did, also got the Mac and cheese. So greatful to have such an awesome place to eat so close to home. Thank you for being here read more

Always so satisfied with our food and the friendliness of the staff! Not too many options up in the mountains so this one truly is a gem to our community. read more

Tender meat, no seasoning! Very bland food. Pass on the potato salad again very bland.

We were thrilled to find a new BBQ place nearby and wanted to support them! The building is new, so clean but in need of personality. The hostess was lovely, but I ordered extra sauce and got no sauce at all. The BBQ ribs have clearly been cooked fast, and not long enough, so they are tough, chewy, and barely done. They taste like there was no smoke involved in the cooking. Grilled corn was definitely made from frozen, not fresh corn, soggy and tasteless. The baked beans tasted like Campbell's with some salsa thrown in. Good BBQ is never fast, and all of this tasted fast cooked. We would love to support this new business, but the food will have to improve first. read more

Their food is AMAZING and their staff is great! We frequently eat at Buckmann BBQ and recently used them to cater our Christmas party. We received nothing but compliments on the food from "OMG where did you get this?" to "This food is BOMB". The food was ready at the designated pick up time and the food was beautifully presented and ready to serve! If you haven't been there yet, you should. If you don't live in the area, it's worth the drive! read more

Went for dinner twice recently. Both times they were out of a menu item. First time they were actually out of ribs! Second time, they were out of mac and cheese. I find the taste and quality of the food to be mediocre at best. The most disappointing experience was the ribs. They were dry, fatty and chewy. How you can have a BBQ restaurant and serve such poor quality ribs is inexcusable. Also, the sides are nothing special either. I don't plan on returning, especially at those prices. read more

loved the food, the service and the ambiance. The building and decor is very unique and beautiful

Fast service but was cheated out of the food I payed for. I ordered a meal but received smaller portions than listed. Now Would not recommend, horrible customer service. read more

Ordered the large combination meat platter with 3 large sides it's supposed to feed 5-6 people. I paid extra for a Mac and cheese side. The sides were way too small to feed 5-6 people. It was ridiculous and not worth the price. The corn bread was good but again gave us 4 small pieces to feed 5-6 people. Better off barbecuing at home. We did talk to the owner and she said the sides in the too go containers are their large sizes. No way would I spend that kind of money again. My advice eat there in person and hopefully you get your money's worth. read more
