Ocean and sand, very beach like

Rocky beach with homeless living in park. Gross cafe between toilets if you want to catch a food born illness. Nicer beaches up or down the coast. Hard to even get to ocean through the 3-8" boulders that cover the beach.

Quick stop, nice 10 mins to relax and grab a selfie

Love this place, yeah it can be trashy and crowded but it's comfortable and easy access. Yummy breakfast tacos over at the cafe and picture perfect shots at sunset. Love this place. O'side! Love you!

I really like this beach location. It's in Oceanside and actually has available parking and a bathroom! I had never been here before and decided ti check it out, and I'm glad I did. Parking was free too! The downside is that there are a lot of rocks so walking by the water was a little more difficult, but I did it. Nice little area for swimming and lifeguard tower 11 is right there. Not too crowded and it's peaceful!

I want to 5 star this beach for having been a childhood staple of summer, but that's just not fair! Most important thing about this spot: Awesome family beach...assuming there is any beach for you to occupy! The ocean has all but swallowed up the coastline where beach goers normally plant their umbrellas and fan out their towels. There's no walking this beach in it's current state, that's for sure, unless you enjoy the sea jumping at your knees. Come on, Oceanside, with your endless development going on downtown, invest in your beaches! Push that shoreline out! Otherwise, this beach is as I said, good place to bring the family, nestled between beach rentals, it feels as secluded as a public beach is going to get. Just across the street is a small cafe that actually has good eats. The convenience of having food, beverage, and bathrooms so close by is a major plus for individuals clad with kiddos.

It's a bit rocky at this beach, but we loved hanging out here. Good place for families. Restrooms right across the street. Some good food options available at a small restaurant, and a park with excellent parking on the other side of the street.

Great little spot! Stopped here with a local's recommendation after brunch on Easter Sunday. The beach wasn't packed but people were coming and going throughout the day. Locals love this place and so do out-of-towners. The Buccaneer Cafe was closed that day, but I can see how it would be a great spot to grab a bit during a awesome SoCal beach day!

    Good morning happy Saturday!

My Beach! Well we actually hang one access north but who's counting right? You just never know who you'll see ....surfer running down the hill or the rock lady, random people walking their dogs, to people that come all the way from out east to enjoy the ocean. Under the railroad bridge there are some neat murals you've got to check out. The beach is a neat design with a park on one side and the beach on the other. Very cool for those peeps with littles who want to do both. There are showers and bathroom and the cafe. The cafe seems to have random hours during the off season so bring food with you just in case. There is a parking lot that is no charge but it's small and fills up fast. There are some street parking as well but not that much. That's really the downside. All in all nice place to take in some Oceanside rays!

Buccaneer Beach is one of the few remaining hidden gems on the Pacific Ocean. This beach consistently has great Waves and generally a very good break. It is truly a Surfers Delight bodyboarders also do very well here. This beach is located at the foot of Morse and the coast. Locals are always coming in and out to catch waves catch some sun and move on and get to work. The little cafe which is open from 8 till noon is called the buccaneer Cafe nice place to grab a sandwich or breakfast get there before noon or you will be shut out. I don't like to put too many kudos on this beach as I like to keep it as my secret Hideaway when I want to enjoy a day in the waves. Oceanside has done a marvelous job keeping up the beach and rejuvenating this area there is no doubt Oceanside is on a comeback. I have great memories while growing up in Encinitas myself and a couple of friends heading north to Oceanside and spending the day at Buccaneer Beach it was always a great spot to spend the day and we were almost certain never to get caught skipping school and going to Oceanside. Some of the best sunsets you will ever see on the West Coast can be seen right there at Buccaneer Beach nothing like watching the Sun go down while you're in the water riding waves you have to experience it to understand the Feeling. If you get a chance sneak over to Buccaneer Beach but always make sure you leave it cleaner, safer, and better than the way you found it let's protect our oceans and our beaches they are our wonderful assets.

I was looking for one that was relatively clean, with not a lot of people, and lots of sand with few rocks. Tamarack State Beach is that place! Tamarack is the kind of beach that would make a nice spot for a picnic or a place to watch the sun set. I did neither of those things -- just stayed for a while to let my children get into the ocean and bury themselves in the sand. But they loved this beach so much that we visited twice during our visit to Carlsbad. There was a lifeguard on duty, set up closer to the parking lot where the majority of the people were. If you walk a little ways away, though, there is no lifeguard and the people are fewer. The parking can be a little limited, and you have to pay to park. There is also some street parking, but that's even more limited. Your best best is to hit the parking lot first and maybe circle a couple of times.

Located between Tamarack Avenue and Carlsbad Village Drive, it's a beautiful stretch of coastline. You'll find a little bit of everything here--families, students, retirees, surfers, and plenty of people just enjoying the ocean. On any given day, I saw swimmers, surfers, kayakers, windsurfers, people fishing or beachcombing with metal detectors. The cement promenade running between Carlsbad Village and Tamarack is especially popular, filled with walkers and joggers. It extends for miles, making it perfect for a longer stroll along the coast. Wildlife added to the experience as well--dolphins offshore, along with pelicans, gulls, and other aquatic life. And beyond the traditional surfers, I even spotted the occasional electric hydrofoil (eFoil), with riders gliding above the water in a way that almost seems to defy gravity. Tamarack offers stunning daytime scenery and some truly memorable sunsets. There are some basic rest rooms facilities available. Tip: If you're heading there on a warm day, plan to arrive early--parking fills up quickly!

It sits right on the ocean bluff with two sides, bluff-side (oceanfront) and streetside. Obviously bluff-side is preferred, but staying on the streetside is still a treat. Just be sure to purchase tokens at the front for the shower. - Dog friendly! You can bring your pet along but they must be on leash and aren't allowed on the beach. - Carlsbad has the most captivating sunsets, and if you're lucky, you'll even see a few dolphins. If parking off-site (like we did since we were just there for the evening), be sure to walk back to the main entrance to exit if later at night as the side entrances are locked at sunset. Great selection of beers, wines, pizzas, wings, and even some Mac & cheese bites.

The first time I went I was able to see a few dolphins, or were they sharks? I'm hoping dolphins. You could see the pier from this spot. But if you want to pull over and get a view of the beach and ocean, especially around sunset, it's quite a nice place. You can see the shrubbery and grasses growing along the water's edge too, along with the rocky denizens. Lots of ground squirrels. If they think you have food, they may hold your hand (at your own caution). There's also lots of little shrub birds living near the ground too and other song birds, mixed in with the large gulls. Also saw some gull variations I don't see usually either. Neat goth looking one with muddled gray feathers and a bright red beak. Cool.
