My daughter got a walk-in haircut at this Bubbles location today, and while the cut isn't bad, the gentleman who did the cut ended up taking about 5 inches of hair instead of the 2-3 inches max that she requested. When she mentioned wanting to get the dead ends cut off, he said, "Yeah, you have a lot." (UNNECESSARY comment, especially to a teen) Also, when he was about to do the blowout, he asked her if she wanted it dried straight or curly, and she told him she wanted it to be dried straight. He started drying it and said, "curly will be better" and proceeded do give her curls. My other daughter had great experiences with Emily here in the past, but I hear she has moved on to another salon. I hate to write a negative review, but a little customer service goes a long way, beginning with giving the client what they request. read more

Don't go here! My earring was forcibly pulled out during the appointment, causing an injury that required medical attention. The stylist increased the price by an ADDITIONAL $100 halfway through the service--when I had no realistic ability to say no. I also spent about 5 hours there and still left without receiving the hair color I originally booked. The service itself was chaotic and stressful. I had to constantly stay on top of everything to try to prevent mistakes, and even then she ignored my instructions (including applying bleach much higher than requested, preparing toner instead of dye and cutting my hair incorrectly). The appointment started 45 minutes late because the stylist was on the phone/computer. This was unprofessional, unsafe, and not worth the money. read more

Horrific experience today. 1. No towel placed on neck during wash. My top was wet. 2. Extremely hot air blow drying. 3. Scheduled appt for $47 but was charged $79. 4. As I'm paying, I was told "your payment didn't go through". Checked with my bank and it DID GO THROUGH! 5. Then I'm told they gave me the wrong payment....So I paid someone else's bill!!! FYI Hair Cuttery owns Bubbles salons, which explains why they're so bad across the board. Eh, I booked two appointments for my sister and me for 1pm. We got there, and Carmen came out and brought us both back. She was only talking to me, and I told her we were both getting our hair cut. She acted like they couldn't accommodate that and they might be able to squeeze my sister in after. They made it work and someone else cut my sister's hair. Carmen told me it would cost more to dry my hair because it is long. I told her I didn't recall seeing that on the website. She said it was salon policy and I said fine, but then she continued to make it such a big deal and acted like I hadn't said it was fine, so that made me more irritated. The topping on the cake was when she asked me if I was in high school and then would not stop paying me nonstop compliments, obviously to try and recoup a potential tip. It wasn't sincere because because when I was obviously not feeling her used car salesmen approach, she told me I was impolite and I told her she was talking too much. This store's covid measures were really great. If you are black or have curly hair I would not recommend going to Regina. She took one look at my hair and the price for a wash, blow dry and straighten went from $50 to $86. She then was surprised that my hair was "so nice" for it to be so natural. Had a really bad experience here, would not recommend it to anyone. Booked an appointment online and was given a price for the service with the stylist I selected for the appointment. When I arrived at the appointment, the stylist started quoting me extra prices and fees that were way above the prices online. She seemed to be making up the prices as she looked at me, told me that she needed more high dye to cover my roots because I have long hair (..:I have less than an inch of hair growth needing to be covered at the root, can't see how my overall hair length would affect my root coverage...it hasn't at any other salon ever before), and when I started to question it she back tracked and tried to convince me to stay for the appointment by eliminating her random, unclear fees. Not to mention, this place was dirty dirty dirty. I have actually never seen a hair salon that looked like this...and I arrived first thing in the morning so it's not like they didn't have time to clean between appointments. My wife is crying in the car right now because her hair "stylist" told her that it would cost her over 300 dollars to fix her "terrible hair". My wife told them that was not the price they agreed on, it was more than double. The "stylist" then went on to brag about how long she had been cutting hair, insulted my wife's hair again, and said she would give $20 off. This place up sells you on things you don't need and then gets defensive and insulting when you don't agree to pay extra. AVOID!!! Update: we made an appointment for my wife at an upscale hair salon in Reston with a five star rating and the stylist literally told her that that is what the people at Bubbles do. They are like the haircut version of a quick oil change place where you go in expecting to pay 50 bucks for an oil change but then they tell you that you need 200 dollars worth of other things for no reason. He said the "stylist" at bubbles was full of sh*t and had no idea what she was talking about and that her hair was fine, it needed a trim and some touching up, but nothing was damaged at all. If you go to bubbles, do not expect to pay the price they tell you, do not expect any level of decent customer service, and do not trust any hair stylist. read more

Don't go here. I went to Carmen. I asked for a trim and she kept cutting while telling me the whole time she would keep the length. I asked for a trim and long layers. She showed me how much she was planning to cut which was about 2 inches then she just kept cutting. My hair is now much shorter but she left a long piece in the back to "keep the length" so now I have to go back to get it evened out and it's much much shorter than i asked for. Don't go to Bubbles or book an appointment with Carmen unless you'd like a short uneven cut. read more

I wish I could leave a review for the actual work of Merve, but unfortunately I was denied the service I made an appointment for. About a week and a half ago I made an appointment for a balayage. I had a balayage done about a year ago and put a brown Overtone over it. It washed out really fast so I ended up putting permanent brown dye (a level 6 by the brand Argan Oil) in my hair about a month or so after. When I had called to make the appointment, I was asked if I had permanent dye in my hair to which I said yes. The girl on the other end said she was asking to make sure she scheduled enough time for me. When I walked in for my appointment, Merve sat me down and asked me the same questions about my hair. When I explained the history of my hair from about a year ago, she said she could not do the balayage for me. She said she didn't feel comfortable doing my hair because of the permanent dye plus the Overtone. She said that Overtone ruins hair, and that she doesn't know what color it'll lift to even though it washed out of my hair months ago. She gave a previous client as an example. And then when I said I had already explained I had permanent dye on the phone so I didn't understand why I wasn't told this until now, she apologized and explained that she had wanted to call and ask me about my hair beforehand. But had made no effort to do so because I had received no calls on my end. Anyways, Bubbles should really give a disclaimer if all of their stylists will not work on hair with any permanent dye in it. My sister and I both agreed that it would have been fine if she had simply said she wasn't comfortable doing it because it was beyond her level of expertise to dye previously dyed hair. However, she went on to say verbatim, "you can try another place that will be willing to do your hair, but i'm telling you, your hair will literally melt off." I got my hair done at another place though and it's safe to say all my hair is indeed still on my head lmao. My stylist first did a strand test to see if my hair would lift the level I wanted with my permanent dye. Thank uu I will not be returning. read more

Carmen has been my hairdresser for several years, even before she worked at Bubbles. She is very kind, accommodating and an excellent beautician. She strives to get your hair right and works hard to make her customers happy about their hair. Regarding price, Bubbles is better priced than most salons, but all such services these days are pricey. read more

The first thing I will say is that the hairdresser did a fantastic job on my hair. Other than that, I left feeling a little bit unhappy with the amount I was charged. My hair is pretty simple, just a straight cut with slight angles in the front. I called multiple salons in the area to see who would have the best price for my exact cut, which is why I chose Bubbles as it was only supposed to cost $30. After the hairdresser added on deep conditioners, layers, a blowout and more, my total came to $60. While I know she did a great job, it would've been nice to know that I was being upcharged for every single thing she did. read more

Melina needs to learn how to communicate with customers - there's so many better ways to approach a customer then to accuse the customer of lying when there is a scheduling problem on your end. I booked an appointment for hair color (balayage) at Bubbles, Reston on call, and the lady on the call said it would cost around 85$ approximate. When at the salon, first of all I was in the salon for almost 6 hours (includes waiting and getting service). Secondly, the hair color which they did was not exactly what I asked for (I did not like the color), went through the coloring process twice (because at first the color did not turn out right). Thirdly, the color was not even, its not visible most of the places but way too bright near my forehead only. Lastly, they told me it'll cost 200$ (not at all close to 85$). Came here for a color. It was quick, reasonably priced and came out well (granted it was a pretty simple procedure of just re-doing my roots dark and running the color through.) My hair feels soft & healthy after - no complaints. Will be back! Edit: it's important to mention that I usually have a SEVERE reaction to hair dye where my entire scalp breaks into an unbearable itchy rash, one time my hair even started to fall out, etc. I warned Lorena about it and asked if she could use the gentlest mixture possible in hopes of less irritation. Three days later, my head feels completely normal - it's incredible. I don't know what she did differently, but it worked! And trust me, I've dyed my hair a lot of times in my life - as the years went on, I just accepted the reaction as "normal." The fact that it didn't happen this time after telling her about it is truly impressive. Second edit: my color faded super fast. I suspect my lack of irritation was because she used semi-permanent, which is not what I wanted :( have to take some stars away due to the fact that I have to get my hair re-done way sooner than usual. read more

Worst. Experience. Ever. My hair is ruined. I asked for a mocha brown all-over color (I've been a balayaged blonde for two years) and some layers throughout. My hair came out purplish-gray and she literally CUT CHUNKS OUT OF MY HAIR. I left in tears and immediately went to another salon for them to fix my cut. The stylist at the other salon said it was clear that the stylist at Bubbles had not been educated AT ALL on how to cut or color hair, and we had to cut an ADDITIONAL TWO INCHES OFF just to hide the damage. I will have to wear my hair up for at least the next 3 months until it grows out and I'm able to style it again. Stay as far away from this place as possible. read more

NEVER GO HERE!!! My hair was burned off and now I have bald spots . I had to go back multiple times and it was never fixed. First it was black and white stripes, to fix it , SEAN (the girl) bleached it and made it orange. Then to counter balance it, now it has light violet stripes. I have to go somewhere else tomorrow to get this shit fixed. Horrible horrible service. Update: HEATHER said they were going to give me a refund within 3-5 business days... its been 2 weeks now. How is that for customer service. I am furious. Do not go here if you want anything solved. Not asking for a lot- just do what you say you are going to do!!!! read more

She knows what colors I can and can't pull off and has helped me experiment with different cuts. No matter what she does to my hair, I always get compliments, even from complete strangers.
