This review is for Jami Pott. For years (I am 25) I tried to find a salon/stylist that gave me exactly what I asked for but NEVER have been able to. I had good hair cuts and bad hair cuts, hair cuts that made me cry, hair cuts I loved, color done that bled onto everything (permanent color, mind you), color that looked great...but NO ONE that compares to Jami and what she does for me! She is the ONLY stylist I've EVER had that has given me exactly what I ask for and HOW I ask for it. Only want one inch off? She only cuts an inch off. Want to color your hair a specific way? She gives you JUST that. I absolutely love her and have been going to her for over a year since I found her a year ago. I constantly get compliments on my hair, even by strangers in public. I had an appointment for 1:45, I got a call after noon that my stylist was running behind... fine, 15,20, 30 minutes tops... nope I was told that they needed to push my appointment back until 3:30. I'm sorry but that's not my fault that they overbooked or didn't schedule their appointments properly. They should have made things right and squeezed me in somehow. They canceled my appointment, they were very unhelpful and unwilling to accommodate me. I just found it to be poor business practice to ten away clients instead of squeezing them in to make it work and hopefully get a life long customer. read more

I just moved to Bowie and needed to find a new salon so decided to give this Bubbles a try. I scheduled my appointment online with a random stylist. I got Elizabeth as my stylist and immediately felt at ease. Elizabeth was so sweet and made sure she understood exactly what I wanted before she got started. She made sure to check on me more than once through out the coloring and cut process, and made me feel super taken care of. I love my new hair color!! She nailed the look I was going for and she did a great job at trimming without going over board (trying to grow my hair out). I went in for my appointment with a vague idea and a couple photos and walked out with the best haircut I've had in many years. My stylist was Michelle R and I can't recommend her enough. Even on a busy Saturday morning, she took her time with me and made me feel like I was the only person in the room. I was very nervous about going short, but she did such an amazing job. It's difficult to rate an entire salon, as I haven't had services by everyone there (when you find a good stylist that you like and trust, you stick with them, am I right?), but I'm trying! The ladies at the front are always friendly when I check in and ask me if I want any water, coffee or tea while I wait. There's pretty much always fruit/cucumber infused water in the waiting area that is self-serve, which is pretty nice, especially if you've been running around all day or working- it's nice to just sit and relax with some cucumber water. It's the little things. This is a relatively new location and it's clean and welcoming. If you get a stylist you like, the prices are reasonable, especially in a large metro area like here. Sometimes when I come from work I'm running late (I don't get off at a specific hour), and I just give them a call to let them know and they're always patient! If you like to play around with short hair, I recommend Elaine (I do this reluctantly because now the secret is out on Yelp!). She fixed a haircut for me, has styled/cut my bob, pixie, and pixie-while-growing-out, does my brows, and did my last color (highlights) for fall, which is really lovely. She talks me through options, lets me take my time to decide, and is super sweet. I know I've found my stylist; she has learned my style and offers great recommendations that fit my personality. Basically she's all-around awesome for short hair, and I give her 5 stars. I will also recommend Nik for more rocker/fun/different styles and color, though caveat emptor- 'conservative' may be in his repertoire, but I wouldn't say it's his forte. With the exception of one cut that was just a little too fun/80s rocker for my military work environment, I have had good cuts from him. He did highlights for me last spring and knocked it out of the park. They grew out so nicely and naturally that the only reason I needed to update my color (with Elaine) is because I chopped my hair off into a pixie three and a half months later. I've seen a few more stylists at this location (one or two more) and I can say I haven't had a bad experience as far as attitude or personality is concerned, but of course that's just a small sampling; I just didn't necessarily feel compelled to see them again, no fault of their own. Their proprietary product line: I have been using Cibu products since I started going to Bubbles Salons over two years ago. Love their liters; have been using Shang High for two years now, love that they don't test on animals and are sulfate-free. I wash and condition pretty much every day and blow dry, and my hair is always healthy and soft. Great product for those of us with stick straight hair that will stick to the sides of our heads if we let it : ) I used to use the Origumi styling paste, but switched to the Shape Up, Whip Out for my sort-of-longish pixie, great for styling bangs and sides for the sleek or messy look; just a pop of hair spray over the top to hold in place. My mom loves the Origumi; she also has short hair and just wets her hands in the morning to re-style from the day before (kind of 'reactivating' the Origumi paste), negating the need for a wash just to style. All in all, I'm glad that I found this chain (and location)! UPDATE: Unfortunately Nik no longer works here (I've heard he no longer works as a stylist, very sad) but my review of him still stands. read more

I booked my mother a last minute appointment to get her hair done for her birthday. I'd heard great things about Bubbles! And was not disappointed! My mom had a professional cut and styling for what I consider a bargain. She commented that everyone getting their hair done while she was there looked so good. My appt was with Troy and he did a much better job than the $75 cut I recieved at Robert Andrews up the hill a few months earlier. My hair has movment and is just the right length! Just what i asked for! My Daughter had hers cut at the same time with Jessie. Her's turned out fantastic too! We stopped in and just got walk in cut/style on a whim. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I made an online appointment for 2pm and when I arrived I was told that the appt was at 3pm. I showed the ladies my email confirmation and they still insisted it was at 3pm even though it said 2. They then said that 2pm means between 2 and 3pm. The site gave me an option of 2:00 and 2:15 and I chose 2pm. I shouldn't have to prove how THEIR booking system works .One lady "Alexys" I believe was actually apologetic and offered some options. The other acted as if I couldn't read my confirmation email and basically told me I had to wait until 3pm. I asked for a manager and apparently Bubbles doesn't have managers???? read more

Had an appointment with Nikki today, and I am very happy not only with the way my hair turned out, but with the overall level of service I received! Not only did Nikki actually listen to what I wanted, but she offered me different options and suggestions, which in my opinion, is the ideal hair appointment. I've gone into salons where you tell the stylist what you want, they say "okay", and you end up leaving with the exact opposite of what you wanted-- like they didn't hear a word you said. I followed my stylist Nik here all the way from Bethesda! He was working at the Ira Ludwick salon and is the best stylist that has ever touched my hair so when he moved I had to follow him. He always gives me the hottest new looks that make my face look its best. I like the new Bubbles, it's new and fashion forward and only half the price of Niks last salon so I save a bundle!! I can't Believe he went from doing my cut for $75 to $35 at this new Bubbles, but I don't look a gift horse in the mouth it just leaves me with extra $$ to get color. Nik is a hair genius , a bit intimidating at first (he's 6'3 and covered in tattoos!) but he's the sweetest thing and really makes me feel comfortable explaining my crazy hair ideas. I will always go to Nik and I recommend anyone looking for a new stylist or that wants to look the best they can go see him as well. He is amazing!! And this salon is definitely affordable. Just call first because he's already booked up for weeks! It took me two weeks to get a Saturday appt!! It might be easier to get him on a weekday but Saturday is my only ME day. read more

I was assigned to Megan after being told that my stylist Christy (who I also like) was on maternity leave. Megan was very friendly and patient as we discussed what I wanted to do with my hair. She gave suggestions but was NOT pushy. After the consultation she actually gave me a price and asked if that would work for me!! In all the years I have been getting my hair cut I have never had a stylist so upfront about the fees. It's usually a surprise at the end when its too late to do anything about. Megan gave me a great haircut and I love my color. When it came time to pay it was less expensive than the price she had told me in the chair. Truly a breath of fresh air. I went to Bubbles because it's so convenient for me to stop by after work plus I have NEVER had a bad experience at a Bubbles Salon or any salon. However, I will never go back to this location. I had Stephanie and although she was sweet, I left there upset and disappointed to say the least. I didn't ask for anything difficult. I asked for an ALL OVER color of chocolate auburn. I walked out with 3 different hair colors. She had to do it over because the first time she colored my hair it was half black half red. Then the "do over" was the same! The red just wasn't as bright. By the way...I was there for FIVE HOURS!!! I was supposed to go back another day to have someone else correct what she did to my hair, but I choose to go elsewhere and I suggest everyone else do the same. read more

One of the worst places I've been to in awhile, I'm using my husbands account because I don't have one and I felt I should leave a review. I went in to get my hair trimmed and get angled side bangs and a color. I brought in a picture to get the color like it. Everyone was very friendly but I left with a messed up hair cut and a messed up color.. My hair looked nothing like the picture and my roots were still showing and chunks of my hair were multiple colors. They were very nice to let me come in and get it fixed. So I came in to another girl who did an amazing job but yet again my hair looks nothing like the picture I asked for blonde and maroon high lights my hair is brown with blonde highlights. My bangs are still a huge problem for me.. I would never go back there no matter how sweet they are they just can't dye hair read more

She's a doll, and always, always, ALWAYS sends me out the door looking and feeling fabulous. This is new for me--a stylist who actually gets me! I've gone through my share of stylists, and while some hit the mark occasionally, Ashley hits it every time (hehe). I've been seeing her for about 2 years and I don't have to show pictures anymore; just tell her "I want to go lighter." She knows exactly what I mean, how I like my foils, the level of blonde(s) I prefer, and how to cut my side part bangs (this easy thing been really hard for some stylists). I never get my hair cut at the same place because theyre always just as cheap as you pay for BUT I know I'll be going back here because for how cheap the cut the experience was so high class. They make me want to establish an ongoing service here with how amazing and kind they were. My stylist Elizabeth, was amazing, first I was amazed because I've never been asked if I had allergic reactions before and if I was okay with the hair product, I think that was very cool especially in today's society of so many issues haha. But over all she cared so much about my earrings or if she was brushing too hard or temperature settings. She did an amazing job and I have long, thick hair; bless her for drying it all. I told her about catching my hair in a candle and after cutting and drying my hair she paid so much attention that she found a little part where it was still a little singed and fixed it right up. When I had honestly forgotten about it and wouldn't have noticed. She truly made me feel like royalty, answered all my questions, and made me feel comfortable. She cared and did things I've never had a stylist do before. After 23 years of living I have finally found a hair place I'll be going back too. read more
